Enquirer: Is John Travolta’s family turning against him and Scientology?

The Enquirer has yet another “SCANDAL!!” story about John Travolta, although I have to admit – it really feels like The Enquirer is pulling their punches these days. I remember when The Enquirer used to run stories alleging all manner of “Travolta’s lace-front came loose while he was getting some spa dong from a lithe Nigerian” stories. Given last week’s cover story – John cross-dressed a few times and Kelly Preston dumped him because of it (??) – this week’s is just meh. The gist is that “someone” in Travolta’s family MIGHT be writing a tell-all book. And JT’s nephew hates Xenu.

With his marriage troubled over a gay sex scandal, John Travolta has been body-slammed by prospects that a relative’s tell-all book could expose even more of his ugly secrets. To make matters worse, one of Travolta’s dearest nephews has turned his back on the actor’s controversial religion, the Church of Scientology, and blasted it publicly.

An insider claims that if the tell-book speculation is true, “all of John’s dirty laundry is going to come out, and it’s created a deep division in the family.” Insiders say the book would likely dig into Travolta’s marriage to Kelly Preston, as well as the couple’s handling of their late son Jett’s autism.

“I think some of the Travoltas don’t like Kelly, and a lot of dark secrets about her could wind up in the book,” a second family source told The Enquirer.

Some insiders believe the Travoltas refused to acknowledge Jett’s autism because CoS doctrine preached that people suffering from psychiatric and neurological disorders are “degraded beings.” John’s brother Joey, co-founder of the group Actors for Autism, has been outspoken in his criticism of Jett’s care, and he clashed with John over it.

In addition to an estrangement with Joey, John’s nephew Sam Travolta Jr. is a former Scientologist who’s hammered the controversial religion. On an online forum last year, Sam claimed he was a member of the church from 1997 to 2007, but left due to “lots of verbal abuse” and “no pay for labor.”

Representatives for the Travolta family deny that anyone in the family intends to write a book about John and adds that they are not feuding with him. Furthermore, they insist that his marriage is “not on the brink.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

Wait… what? John Travolta’s brother is an autism activist? He founded an organization that helps autistic kids? And John and Kelly still don’t want to talk about it. That’s just… sad. As for Sam Travolta Jr., he sounds like a smart young man. It feels more and more like this Travolta stuff (Masseur-gate, spa dong, etc) isn’t being cleaned up and hushed up by the Church of Scientology. Did John Travolta do something to piss off Xenu? Also: what dark secrets does Kelly Preston have? The mind boggles. She dated George Clooney and Charlie Sheen before she married Travolta. I would imagine that would make for an interesting story.

Wasn’t Kelly Preston shot (accidentally) by Charlie Sheen while they were dating?

I read yesterday that Travolta and his lawyers are settling with one of the accusers already. I wonder if this is the first of many payoffs.

I think so, I also heard he just wants it all to go away. It seems a bit to late for that, I don’t know that I’ll ever be able to watch Travolta in another movie without thinking of what a gigantic perv he is..

  2. Launicaangelina says:

Sad. I really enjoyed Travolta in some movies: Grease, Urban Cowboy, Look Who’s Talking (I was a kid!) and Pulp Fiction. Now, all I see is a swollen, sweaty perv who can’t deal with his sexuality.

  3. Flea says:

I have a question maybe someone here can answer. I know that the reason some Christians are against homosexuality is due to their interpretation of the Bible. Why is Scientology against homosexuality? Based on what I understand about Scientology you’d think they would welcome anyone just as long as they were able to be brainwashed and either had money or were willing to be an obedient slave.

    • sarahtonin says:

The short answer is L. Ron Hubbard was a latent homosexual and he was insane so he hated homosexuals and psychiatrists. But if you get me started I’ll write pages of stuff on Co$. I can’t help going on rants so to save you all, here read this. If you understand LRH, you understand Scientology.

      or google ron the nut

      • Flea says:

Sarahtonin, interesting & thanks, I never really read much on LRH. I get why they’d hate psychiatrists, because if you believe in that you could have enough insight to realize the COS is insane. I just can’t wrap my mind around the anti-gay part. Maybe in the lower ranks since they don’t want anybody having any kind of sex but that goes for hetero sex too. I guess I’m going down the rabbit hole and reading more on this craziness!

    • gg says:

I understand your logic. Seems like they could choke a lot more money for their coffers if they’d open their doors wider. However, I’m very glad they don’t, since the more people they are against and are against them, the sooner they ARE GOING DOWN.

      • Flea says:

gg, I have been thinking that for years and am fascinatinated to find even with the truth ever where they keep recruiting more members! Not just poor, desperate, ignorant people either! It’s both frightening and fascinating (and sad).

  4. Cathy says:

John Travolta is just ewwwww. He grosses me out. I use to watch his movies now and then. But not now, he’s gotten disgusting over the last couple of years. You couldn’t pay me enough money to sit through one of his movies now.

  5. hillbilly in the corner says:

Sorry but never have like the man….he has a murky dark green oria around him all the time even when he was on that TV show he started on… You know the kind that make a woman instintively step back if he stepped to close to her…

    • SolitaryAngel says:

So. You can SEE auras but you can’t spell them. Good to know. Thanks.

      • ZenB!tch says:

I was a girl when he had that show on TV but I remember a lot of women running TOWARD him not AWAY.

I didn’t get it but I’ve never been a huge actor groupie, even at 5 I liked “musicians” – Davy Jones reruns… woo hoo!

  6. Mink says:

Oh what a tangled web we weave…

  7. Jackie says:

this is all very dark and dirty.

my life, that doesn’t consist of airplane landing strips outside my front door, is looking better and better.

  8. DenG says:

“people suffering from psychiatric and neurological disorders are ‘degraded beings’.” Ironic, yes? Seems like many CoS members are somewhat suffering from disorders. And there’s no such thing as “non-profit” in my belief system.

  9. fabgrrl says:

Kelly Preston’s alleged dark secret is a child she had with her first husband, who she does not acknowledge. Rumors are that the baby was severely disabled in some manner, and that Kelly and her ex dumped him on some relatives. I don’t know if this is true or not. This boy would probably be in his twenties now.

    • ellie66 says:

ohhh i read that somewhere too, i didnt know she had been married before. She used to live with Clooney they did a article in People mag on them in the 80s oddly she was jumping on his back.

      • flower says:

I’ve also heard that she broke Clooney’s heart by running off with someone richer and more connected, don’t remember if it was Travolta or someone else. She’s always been a gold digger and she hit the Jackpot with Travolta. Maybe she’s the one who helped screw up Clooney emotionally.

  10. Viv says:

Is that what is left of his hair, now? Letting it all hang out, Johnny?

  11. Rita says:

I won’t be eating French Fries for a while.

  12. Turd Fergussen says:

I can’t help it — I feel sorry for this b-stard. I think a long time ago, he found that his life was empty which made him vulnerable to a cult like Scientology. Now he’s in waaay over his head.

He seems like he’d be a genuinely kind person. And when his son died, that was just tragic…and he probably thinks about that every single day. And now his career’s in the toilet because his personal life is a joke. All because he can’t come out of the closet. Bless his heart.

    • Jackie says:

can’t believe in this day and age we feel sorry for men who sexually harass others.

      shameful.

      • ZenB!tch says:

I’m still not totally convinced about that. I mistrust CO$ too much to not think they are behind it.

  13. vanessa says:

I still love Travolta movies. Obviously there is some kind of issue with him that he’s not addressing. I hope that this will help him come out or admit that he’s human! Get out of that dumb religion he’s in and live his life the way he wants.

  14. melangie says:

oh my, the first picture is soooo funny.

  15. Sarah says:

That’s an interesting idea about CO$ not covering it up. It kind of makes me wonder….what if CO$ are the ones fanning the rumor flames now? They have been known in the past to threaten members who want to leave with exposing the secrets they told in their sessions, it makes me wonder if Travolta is pulling away and CO$ is making him suffer for it.

  16. Pat Dorty says:

I bet the real reason he got into Scientology was because he knew that they protect their own in times like this. They all new this day would come. No big deal John come on out of that dark old closet!

  17. Nikki Girl says:

Even before this came out, I have thought for a long, long time that John Travolta was gay. And I think he’s severely ashamed and in denial of it for whatever reason, whether Scientology is behind it or not. I think his homosexual desires and urges came out in the form of harassing/assaulting random men. Which is really sad, because if he would just divorce his wife and come out, a lot more people would be accepting of that, but no one is going to be accepting of sexual harassment. He is intensely messed up.

  18. Val says:

Love the middle picture where he’s in front of a rainbow flag. How fitting.

  19. Jules says:

Aw whatever I don’t care I still just love him to death. He could have done it another way – But I am sure all those guys are just innocent bystanders. I still love you John!!!

  20. Lala Laaaa says:

and of course you alllllll know it is all true, because everything you read is true and the media never lie do they. Perhaps if you ever came out from peeping behind your curtains you might think does it really matter?? No it doesn’t but that wouldn’t fill up your empty lil lives would it……….
