Bristol Palin on her new reality show: “I have tough skin & I know that God is on my side”

Bristol Palin is promoting her new Lifetime reality show “Life’s a Tripp,” because we need yet another reality show and her mother’s worked out so well. She was on “Good Morning America” yesterday to discuss the show, and I found her as defensive and unlikable as I have in the past. Like mother like daughter. The video of her interview is above, thanks to The Hollywood Gossip, and here’s some of what she said, thanks to Realitytvworld:

“People are going to see the real Bristol in this show,” Palin told Good Morning America in an interview broadcast Monday morning. “[I’m] a grounded, normal mom.”

While the former eleventh-season Dancing with the Stars participant said she had the full support of her mother and former Alaska governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin during the show’s filming, Palin made it clear she also aggressively backed her mom when necessary — including one instance when she got into a heated argument with a man at a bar over a difference in political opinion.

“I think if somebody is going to talk poorly about my mom, I am going to pick and choose my battles and a battle like that, I chose to confront him and see what the real problem was,” Palin told GMA.

“I’m excited for viewers to see the real me in that, because I’m sitting there all tough and shaking and I’m acting tough and instantly when it’s over, it’s like, ‘Okay, there’s the real Bristol,’ because I am calling my boyfriend, I’m calling my mom. ‘Ah, get me out of here.'”

The 21-year-old reality TV star explained it was difficult having cameras around filming 24/7 although her son didn’t seem to mind.

“I don’t really think you get used to all of it but Tripp was used to it the whole time. He didn’t care if the cameras were there or not. He’s still going to be rowdy, he’s still going to be a little terror, but it was fun. It was a lot of fun,” Palin said, adding she was, however, prepared to face constant criticism from the public.

“I think I have tough skin and I know that God is on my side and my faith is everything to me… And when people are talking poorly about me, I think it just gives me more motivation to want to do more and want to speak up even louder and they’re just not doing themselves well by doing that. I think the people who don’t like me, I’m not trying to change their opinion on it, but it’s going to be a good show.”

[From Reality TV World]

As Reality TV World points out, this is Bristol’s second reality TV deal. She was originally supposed to be featured in a show with the Massey brothers, including Kyle who competed with her on Dancing with The Stars, but it looks like that was shelved in favor of featuring just Bristol, her son Tripp and her sister Willow moving to LA. We heard last year that Bristol was hoping that she and Willow would become famous like the Kardashian sisters.

I think the reality show market is saturated, but I’ll just end by saying something that always occurs to me when I hear about children on reality television. I don’t believe that Tripp doesn’t know the cameras are there. I think kids at that age are smart enough to know when they’re being filmed, and that it does affect them, especially when they start to get famous and are faced with losing parts of their childhood. I shouldn’t get all concerned about Tripp at this point. It’s not likely this show is going to last more than a season.

STFU God is on my side and only mine.

    “Life’s a Tripp” ??? ahahahah

  3. the original bellaluna says:

Oh, PLEASE Joel McHale, skewer this chick’s show on The Soup!

    • Rory says:

      “Like” 😀

    • Maguita says:

      Someone, anyone, please enlighten me.

When a person says things like “God is on my side…and my faith is everything to me…”, but most things she had done and said publicly, on record, is about hatred, bigotry, people phobias, and most importantly, lead a life that is very much against the teachings of her Christian God (I’m assuming?), what does that make of her religion?

And how about those commandments, and Seven Deadly Sins that she has constantly and publicly broken?

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me”?

      Greed?
      Lust?
      Pride?

See, I’m not the one preaching to others about that one God, and debating if he/she is, or isn’t on MY side. I can commit Gluttony, then Low-carb it right after to feel all my gluttonous sins washed away…

But I would think anyone touting out loud that God is on their side, which by Bristol’s explicit meaning, on RECORD, she is implying that when God is on her side, he is on nobody else’s but hers, wouldn’t that be the ultimate sin: Lying in the Name of Her God?

Which begs the question: When so many lie in his/her name, defame his/her teachings, when does a God stops being a God, and becomes nothing but another deity?

Can we accuse, Bristol Palin by her actions, of committing one of the most heinous crimes against religion: Demoting God?

Where the f-ck does true religion stops, and absurd zealotry begins.

      • mia girl says:

“Where the f-uck does true religion stop and absurd zealotry begins?”

        With the Palins.

    • Trillion says:

Amen sister. That will give it one, and only one, reason to be on.

  4. Jayna says:

What great parenting by the Palins. Get pregnant as a teen and use it to sell stories, get on a dancing show, become a reality star to make easy money. Cut to the Bush twins and Chelsea Clinton who are all impressive young women.

    • Choupette says:

Beats getting famous for showing the world your goodies, having sex, and getting pee’d on.

    • JudyK says:

You forgot “to get plastic surgery,” so that, even at the ripe old age of nineteen, she no longer resembles her real, former self.

      • Pandy says:

LOL. And did you see Mom’s reaction to the younger sis quitting her job? What parent would laugh off something like that? Oh yeah, a grifter.

    • lena80 says:

I don’t think its fair to blame the parents when their kids make mistakes. She wasn’t ten afterall. She was old enough to the know the consequences of her actions. My sister is one yr older than me and a royal screw up and we were raised under the same roof by the same Mom and I would cut a bi@$$ if they tried to blame my Mom for my sister’s actions.

I know the Palin’s abstinence stance may seem unrealistic, but no one can convince me Bristol and Levi didn’t know what a condom was and how to use it.

  5. Rhiley says:

I don’t know if I can ever forgive John McCain for opening this Pandora’s box.

    • Jen says:

      AMEN.

    • carrie says:

John Mc Cain was a decent guy during the campaign and probably too moderate also

    • Dorothy#1 says:

      LOL

    • bondbabe says:

While the end result lies with McCain, the blame really needs to be put on the Republican party for pressuring him to choose Palin as his running mate.

McCain was a moderate who I actually would have taken into consideration, but that was blown out of the water when Backwoods Brunette Barbie came into the picture.

      • lucy2 says:

Agree – I think they wanted a super conservative AND a woman (because women apparently are so stupid that when Clinton got knocked out, they’d forget their political ideals and simply vote for another woman who was her polar opposite?) and unfortunately he caved into them and did it. And it basically wrecked his campaign.

    • Wembley says:

Don’t blame McCain. He was the sacrificial lamb when the Republicans decided they didn’t want to deal with the economy. Remember Romney and Huckabee both dropped out on the same day. When McCain looked like he could still win. Hello Palin as the poisoned fruit. McCain was just a puppet.

    • some bitch says:

I totally disagree with McCain’s politics (most of them) but he always came across as a man with quite a bit of tact, and I have nothing but respect for him for fighting in a war. I was impressed by his concession speech in 2008. Too bad he chose Palin, I think that was his undoing.

  6. Jen says:

“God is on my side” . . . an overused excuse to justify being crummy a human being.

  7. Flora Kitty says:

I cannot stand this self righteous slore! She was speaking to abstinence groups about re-pledging her virginity to Jesus after she had her son and how she and her pipe-fitter boyfriend were waiting until marriage to have sex. The jokes write themselves. We all can surmise where the pipe is being fitted.

  8. aims says:

I can’t stand the Palin clan. They’re all so self righteous. They spew crap, then wonder why people have such a reaction to them. I disagree with everything they stand for. They don’t have any solutions to anything, they just like to hear themselves talk. They are famewhores of the worst kind. They’re such a joke. Thanks Alaska forgiving them to us, now please take them back.

    • P.J. says:

The heck with the fame, the Palins are in it for the money! Her mother made a fortune in politics, and Bristol wants to follow in her footsteps.

  9. Marissa says:

Hopefully I speak for everyone when I say, “FOR WHY?!” Why does this bitch need a show?

    • Mario Antinori says:

It makes me wonder how come this woman can have this contract and a outrageous sum of payment when she clearly have nothing to contribute to society but all for her own benefit. I guess some people are somewhat obsessed in knowing something about her – a reason why she was given a show. But if you ask me, she’s better be a single parent to her son rather than a role model (and a TV personality).

  10. Relli says:

Can we put Bristol in the same “please stop trying to make her happen box,” as Julianne Hough.

  11. Jules says:

Willow is going to be on the show? In LA? Wow, Sarah Palin is batting a ZERO for having her children graduate from high school and go to college. Nice values.

    • the original bellaluna says:

Now, now, “family values” only applies to OTHER people, silly! It’s the “do as I say, not as I do” principle in prime working order! /sarcasm

  12. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Pimpin out the kids to be famous – and plastic surgery – Bristol is on her way to being the next Kris Kartrashian.

  13. Sabrine says:

Who’s going to watch her show when most people can’t stand her and the whole rest of them? You can only hope one day they will quietly go away…and stay there.

    • the original bellaluna says:

I don’t think “quietly” and “go away” are in their vocabulary. Which is sad, really, because “go away” is in my toddler’s vocabulary.

  14. lucy2 says:

I don’t think she has anything to offer, besides the overblown self-righteousness and perpetual victim attitude her mother taught her. Why does she need a show? It’s just ridiculous. I wish she’d just go make a nice, normal life for herself and her son.

I feel sorry for her son – not only will he someday see all the shit his parents flung at each other publicly, but he is being used as a pawn in the quest for fame and fortune.

  15. mia girl says:

    Dear Lifetime Programming Executives,
    Lindsey Lohan and Bristol Palin….WTF?

  16. Dawn says:

Oh shut up and go away. If there is a god he or she or it is on everyone’s side or no one’s side. Nothing is more repulsive that people who think that god likes them best or they can sin as much as they want and still be forgiven, but Democrats can’t. Americans have been dumbed down to the ridiculous level. Please let this show be the failure it deserves to be.

  17. poppy says:

if god is on her side, why didn’t he make her mom vice president? why didn’t he keep that doofus’s sperm from penetrating her egg? why didn’t he let her win on dtws? why didn’t he give her some common sense?
god doesn’t love her, plain and simple. he’s going to let her languish indefinitely. d-list celebrity purgatory.
    +1 god!

  18. SRT says:

Bristol and Sarah are trash by their own choosing

  19. Lizzie K says:

I know I’m only rising to the bait. I know they pick all these obnoxious/stupid/slutty/disgusting/no-talent pieces of sh*t to star in these “reality” shows because we’re all still at the level of wanting to watch the gladiators kill each other, the dogs kill the bear, the train jump the tracks. I know it. I hate myself for even reading about it (or I would if I had better morals, or God on my side, or whatever).

BUT PLEASE MAKE THESE PEOPLE STFU AND GO AWAY!!!!!

  20. dizzy says:

The epitome of hypocrisy. She claims to be a “good” Christian but so many things she has done are very unchristian.

  21. lucy2 says:

For a family that likes to complain about liberal Hollywood elites, they sure are itchin’ to stay in show business.
And Grizzly Momma Palin is OK with her teenage daughter moving to Los Angeles? I didn’t think LA was part of her “real America”.

  22. some bitch says:

Naw Bristol, God isn’t exclusively on your side, you self-centered piece of trash.

  23. BLA says:

Did the plastic surgery make her skin thicker, or was it that way before she got a new nose and chin?

    > _ >

    < _ <

  24. taxi says:

How about writing to the show’s sponsors to say you’ll boycott products advertised on this show?

  25. mln89 says:

why does this hypocritical piece of garbage even HAVE a reality show? no one even cares what her dumb ass mother sarah palin is up to, let alone her “preaching-for-teen-abstinence-while-being-a-pregant-teenager” self.

  26. Dotty says:

“God is on my side”. Isn’t that what ALL zealots say?
So, I guess neither girl is trying to attain further education beyond high school. Lovely.

  27. Beatriz says:

You know god is somewhere going “bitch don’t drag my name in this mess”

  28. Bec says:

She needs to be in COLLEGE. I know being a single mom at 19 makes that very difficult but she and her family should be doing everything in their power to make that happen. They could afford it plus the babysitters to look after the kid. Bristol would have to be near home in Alaska for that to work but her education is the most important thing right now. This reality show stuff is shameful. This family does not take anything seriously but they want everyone else to..

  29. crazycatlady says:

GMAFB. Gag me with a crucifix.

Good thing she got that “jaw problem” fixed before starting to shoot her new show. Because her face looks so much less fat with her new chin. LOLOLOL.

I wonder if she realizes that at least 90 percent of the people who will throw away an hour of their lives each week to watch her show will only be doing so in order to make fun of her…
