Rielle Hunter: “As of the end of last week John Edwards & I are no longer a couple”

Well, Rielle Hunter just confirmed something that we’ve been wondering about for a while. Rielle told Good Morning America today that she and “Johnny” (although she actually calls him “John” here) are done. As of LAST WEEK. Now…there have been plenty of rumors that John and Rielle were done several times over the past few years, and that they really only saw each other because of Quinn, their daughter. But Rielle now says that they were “together” all of this time, and that they just called it quits last week. She was on GMA this morning to do further promotion on her book, What Really Happened, which is just her crazy, delusional take on this situation, and her balls-out attack on a dead woman, Elizabeth Edwards. For whatever reason, GMA isn’t offering an embeddable video for the interview (you can watch it here), so we’ll just have to go with the text:

Rielle Hunter and John Edwards ended their controversial relationship last week, just days after her new book debuted and she went public about how they met, hid their affair and had a baby girl together.

“We are a family, but as of the end of last week John Edwards and I are no longer a couple. Not at all,” Hunter told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America.”

When asked if she still loved Edwards, Hunter replied, “I do.”

Stephanopoulos asked if Edwards still loved her and she said, “You have to ask him. I think he does. I mean I feel that he does.”

Nevertheless, the couple split, she said, worn down by the scrutiny and pressure brought on by their high profile affair that began while Edwards was running for the 2008 presidential nomination.

“For me, for my part in it, it’s because I’m no longer interested in hiding, hiding our relationship, not living out,” she said. “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’ve had a lot of media scrutiny. It’s complicated and it’s hard. It wears you down after a while.”

Hunter, 48, wouldn’t say whether one of them made the break.

“That’s private. We decided together to end it. It’s hard. It’s painful,” she said.

The interview began with Stephanopoulos asking Hunter, who has had a baby girl named Frances Quinn with Edwards, whether knowing what she knows now, would she do it all again.

“Would I do that again?” repeats Hunter almost incredulously. “No way. Absolutely not.”

She rejected a suggestion that the relationship may have been a mistake.

“I know many things many things in the relationship were a mistake but I don’t regret loving him,” she said.

The break-up came after the publication of Hunter’s revealing memoir “What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter and Me.” At the end of Hunter’s memoir, she leaves unclear the status of her relationship with Edwards but insisting there is still love between them.

“I really have no idea what will happen with us. The jury is still out. But I can honestly say that the ending is of no concern to me anymore. The love is here. And as sappy as it may sound, I love living in love,” she writes.

The book also revealed that Edwards had several mistresses before her, but it also angered people for her harsh criticism of Edwards’ wife Elizabeth, who was dying of cancer at the time of their affair. Elizabeth Edwards has since died of the disease. Hunter said that people should read the book before criticizing her.

“There is so much misinformation and distortion about this story and people form opinions without knowing what really happened,” she said. “The public persona of John Edwards and Elizabeth Edwards — and me, for that matter — are so wrong. I think that it helps that we all are real humans and we all are not perfect,” she said. “I don’t think it serves the kids, including my own daughter, to have people that their father is a demon, when he’s not, and that Elizabeth was a saint, because she wasn’t, and that I’m a home wrecker. It doesn’t serve anybody.”

[From ABC News]

Words cannot even describe how I am STILL so pissed off at John Edwards for foisting this woman upon the national media. The man is a sleaze, obviously, but it really says something about him that this is the kind of woman he went for as a mistress/girlfriend. Anyway, I suspect that Rielle and John were done a long time ago, but kept it civil for their daughter. I also suspect that John has been screwing everyone and everything for years, and that there are probably several other “Rielles” out there, and maybe some other children. Ugh.

    Shocking!

    • eb says:

I’m horrified for the child. To have such a morally deficient person primary in her life (on both sides) will likely disfigure her development, or, if the child has a healthy innate morality, will torment the child by her choices.

Because the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. And this mother is shockingly lacking in the moral compass department and apparently empathy too.

      • sans says:

Honestly, I feel like it might be deeper than that. She seems to have mental health issues, she’s almost delusional. Also, I think anyone who understood reality would understand that going on tv and giving humiliating interviews that make the nation think less of your boyfriend would strain your relationship.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

That was my first thought as well. I don’t know if the child will be completely and utterly screwed up or if she’ll rebel against her parents by going in the opposite direction. But I feel like she’ll get a rude awakening at some point in her life, probably when she is old enough to understand what exactly happened. And she learns how to use Google.
I pray that for all their despicable qualities they are decent parents. It happens. But that is the best-case scenario.

      • WillyNilly says:

We call that ‘growing up Lohan’.

  2. Lisa says:

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but we’ve had a lot of media scrutiny. It’s complicated and it’s hard. It wears you down after a while.”

Well, gee, lady, if you weren’t out there writing tell-alls and giving TV interviews, maybe it’d be different …

    • fabgrrl says:

Seriously! Go shut yourself up in your mansion, stop talking to the press, and no one would bother you.

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

She has made her “career” like Kim K made hers – a nasty leakage of profanity that geared up so much hype that it paid for her to have a disgusting, wealthy lifestyle.

I try not to be jealous of what others have because you never know how they got their money. These are perfect examples of that.

    • Lisa says:

Yeaaahhh, as I was watching her 20/20 interview, and commercials ran for the “extended interview” on Nightline and another interview on Good Morning America, my first thought was, is ABC getting a cut of her royalties?? My second thought was, am I not just make the problem bigger by watching this garbage? Bleh. I plan on doing to Ms. Hunter what I do to the Kardashians: ignore her.

  3. Snookie Wookie says:

THIS woman. She cannot get through an interview without speaking an ill word of Elizabeth Edwards and that tells me all I need to know about her. No one in life is a saint, I understand that, but for her to constantly try to “remind” people of that fact speaks to the low level of trash that she is. This book tour cannot be over fast enough. Go back to the trailer park you came from, sister.

  4. Liz says:

Considering Elizabeth Edwards isn’t here to defend herself, this woman is an effing c*nt to the nth degree. What a bitch. Also? Sounds like she got dumped. Maybe Johnny finally realized what a crazy piece of trash this ugly thing is? Better late than never, I guess.

  5. Stacie says:

And yet no two people Deserve each other more than they do . They both are so gross . I feel so bad for all of the children involved .Rielle and John are both Stains on my state of North Carolina!

    • Kimbob says:

A more succinct, straight-up, dead-on summation of these two, & the fallout the children have to face, I’ve never heard. Bravo, Stacie!

  6. Ming says:

John Edwards is the Mila Kunis of politics – great taste in lovers !

  7. brin says:

    Just go away.

  8. phlyfiremama says:

Gee, what a shocker. I guess revealing John Edwards and herself to be the lying cheating slimeballs that they are WASN’T, after all, the way to nurture their relationship. At least people know who he TRULY is now, and hopefully that will be enough to dislodge him from the political realm once and for all. Guess all that talk about “family values” is only for the people to be governed, not for the people who are the government. Disgusting, slimy, and foul.

    • fabgrrl says:

The book probably reminded him that she was still around.

“Mr. Edwards, do you have any response to Rielle Hunter’s new book?”

“Who? Oh, Riley? I haven’t seen her in a year. She wrote a book? Uh, how’s the kid? She must be 2 or 3 by now.”

    • P.J. says:

I agree about the timing of the breakup. How could Reille expect their relationship to last after writing a tell-all book about it?

      • mayamae says:

I find everything about her shady. To accidentally get pregnant in your mid-40’s is very unlikely. Fertility clinics gave my 39 y/o cousin about a 10% chance of getting pregnant with fertility pills and artificial insemination – and she has two kids already!

  9. rumbleseat says:

So I guess he read the book and didn’t like it. Ha ha!

    • randand00 says:

…wait, her book has WORDS in it??? I would think it’s a nasty pictoral collection of her strange photo op poses, maybe some finger paintings and random stick figures. Surely the stupid bitch is illiterate? Perhaps it’s just a “pop-up” book featuring Johnny’s pen-s…? She can’t string a logical sentence together, so I can’t imagine there is anything to “read” here?

  10. Lindy says:

I wonder if the book was the last straw for Edwards’ eldest daughter (who’s grown and married now, and has been mostly supportive of her dad)? I mean, if I were in that girl’s place and I saw Rielle Hungter’s book and all her interviews trashing my dead mother, I think I’d probably tell my dad to pick between me or his mistress.

    • ladybert62 says:

Hi Lindy – excellent point and I can see that happening.

    • Heather says:

I so agree. I wouldn’t be surprised by that at all. If I was Kate, I would do the same thing.

    • marie says:

I wondered the exact same thing, good for her if she did..

    • Izzy says:

I’m betting it was Cate AND her siblings. They’re 12 and 14 after all, old enough to find this on TV, the internet, etc.

      • Lindy says:

        Hi ladybert! 🙂

Izzy, I didn’t realize the younger kids were already that old! You know, that makes me loathe this woman even more (and of course Edwards, too). I mean, she’s now a mother–can she not even manage to put herself in the shoes of Edwards’ kids for ten minutes and realize that they are undoubtedly seeing and hearing all this hateful crap she’s spewing about their dead mother? My god, Rielle Hunter has got to be one of the biggest cockroaches around. Unbelievable!

    • Minu says:

      my thoughts exactly .

    • pwal says:

Although I think the kids had a word with John, I think that once the feds decided that they won’t pursue a case against him, he decided that it wasn’t necessary to placate Rielle anymore.

      • fabgrrl says:

Oh very true! I hadn’t even thought of that. Good catch.

      • Cinderella says:

        This exactly.

There was nothing mutual about this breakup. Rielle will be stalking him, especially after the publicity runs out.

    • gg says:

Yes! I just posted that before reading your post.

At least the daughter would have said for the most part, “that’s it, we don’t have to take this and YOU (grabs Johnny’s ear) are now going to listen to ME.”

  11. Sarah says:

    “I love living in love”

    Please go away forever.

    • gg says:

Which is ironic because she ain’t living in any love now … not from her Jonny and not from anyone else.

Notice how she apparently has zero relatives that wish to be heard.

  12. fabgrrl says:

“I know many things many things in the relationship were a mistake but I don’t regret loving him,” she said.

Okay, I don’t know the context of this or what else she says, so I could be completely off. But, I find it strange and disturbing that she didn’t mention her daughter AT ALL. Like, “our relationship may not have worked, but it resulted in our beautiful daughter” or something like that. She may very well regret the affair (doubtful) and having Quinn, but don’t say so in public! Not when everyone hates you already and you want to change their opinion.

    • littlestar says:

I thought the exact same thing too. You’d think her first response would be “I don’t regret it at all because it gave me a beautiful daughter”. It seems like the child was nothing but a chess piece for her. Sad.

    • Sarah says:

That would involve her caring about someone other than herself.

  13. BabyCakes says:

I really like her blouse and glasses.

  14. Suki says:

she and john edwards are just white trash. i just feel bad for ALL of the children involved.

  15. Tiffany27 says:

Girl sit your tramp self down. You AND your baby daddy are a steaming hot mess.

  16. marie says:

John Edwards is a pig, and Elizabeth may not be a saint, but it takes a real b-tch of a woman to attack her when she can no longer defend herself.

I hope John wised up and dumped her sorry, skanky a$$..

  17. mzthirtyeight says:

I find it highly distasteful that her ex-husbands MISTRESS is the one writing all this about Elizabeth Edwards. To a person of her(apparent)ilk, any attention is good attention. However, just because a person has passed doesn’t, imo, give them a free pass, and they shouldn’t go down as a warm, person-of-the-people when they were not. Staffers, friendly “competitors”, people at restaurants that have felt the wrath or arrogance of Mrs. Edwards perhaps. There was info and stories, but they were silenced or not given much attention. However, Im guessing that the people with the real insight/victims have some decency to let sleeping dogs lie due to the situation/the children involved. Rielle (or whatever her name was) appears to go through EVERYTHING in life the wrong way.

    • Umlaut says:

You’re absolutely right. I’ve known the Edwards family since I was a teenager, and my family worked with John and socialized with Elizabeth before John became a senator. Knowing the whole story, and how damn sad the entire situation is, and how much pain there was in each persons’ life, the only decent thing to do is just say a prayer for people and keep quiet.

      Reille really disgusts me.

    • Jayna says:

I have never considered Elizabeth a saint, but admire her intelligence and passion for certain issues I care about. But this man was running for office and had his wife sacrificing for that, and what does he do? Humilate her with an affair and lies all around her while it’s going on. Whatever anger issues she had, I don’t know. But during the affair and secret pregnancy and all those around him helping to hide the affair, I would have gone nuts too, screaming at his staffers who were in collusion with my husband, not giving me straight answers.
Elizabeth was publically humiliated in ways that are unimaginable all the while battling a death sentence.

I don’t even judge the affair so much. It’s how it was handled and that during the last year of Elizabeth’s life, this narrcissist gives an interview in some mag and to Oprah bragging about her hot pickup sex with “Johnny” and bashing Elizabeth who was dying. What kind of woman with class does that? Her smugness and lack of empathy and need for publicity then and now with this book is what I find truly disgusting about this woman. And not very smart. His kids will hate her. The public can’t stomach the other woman bashing a woman who was dying of cancer when all the deceit was going on. John was such a lowlife in not putting everything on a back burner and trying to give Elizabeth the peace she needed that last year of her life. What do any of us want when our life is ending? To know we mattered and are loved. She had to grapple with issues no person should have to while in so much physical pain from cancer and sadness knowing she’s dying. I watched my mom die. And as much as she loved us, my father, her companion in life, was who she needed most of all every day. At night, he held her in his arms. It was so moving to watch that love. Elizabeth didn’t have that. Instead she had an article from a magazine burned in her memory of a smug woman bragging about hot sex with Johnny and how she gave him what he needed and that Elizabeth was a witch and crazy and carrying on about their love child. Who deserves that?

      • gg says:

^^^^^ I like your comment, Jayna. It physically hurts me to know Elizabeth had to endure this $#!t at all, let alone fight for her life.

I’d be madder than a hornet and not nice to anybody connected with him (read: his spies and covers) too, frankly.

  18. Palermo. says:

She’s trash, he’s trash. End of story.

  19. ladybert62 says:

She used him – he used her – they deserve each other and hopefully will spend quality time together in hell.

Feel bad for the innocent kid.

  20. Gossip PHD says:

Please recall that John Edwards was revealed to be a customer of Anna Gristina’s whorehouse.

  21. Jackson says:

Thank goodness I now know the state of their affair. I’ll file it in the “I Do Not Give a Fukk” file.

  22. Genevieve says:

Rielle Hunter is a delusional, totally narcissistic twat. Yeah, I’m sure watching Rielle plaster her version of “the truth” all over every media outlet available and making him look like a pussy-whipped little baby REALLY got him all hot and bothered. I’ll bet hearing the intimate details of their trashy affair, and having it out there for his children to see into perpetuity, made him think “Yep, that’s my girl! Can’t wait to run my baby down the aisle right NOW!” The only thing that disgraced schmuck is running for is any available exit, far, far away from this nutcase. I mean, seriously….would YOU want to claim a fruit loop like that as your beloved?!

I’m with Kaiser. Out of all the reasons to loathe John Edwards, Rielle Hunter is the very epitome of his every loathsome action. There probably aren’t words to describe how utterly devastated his grown children must be. What a relief it must be for them to not have to worry about where to seat Dad’s insane baby mama for Christmas feast now :-/

    • the original bellaluna says:

Didn’t one or both of his older daughters agree to move back home after their mother’s death, to help care for their younger siblings?

Can you imagine how awful that must have been for them? To not only attempt to deal with their own grief, while trying to help their siblings deal with their’s; and to have to tolerate that hag, too?

I think I would’ve kicked out my cheating-bastard father and that skank, and taken over the household & child-rearing myself.

  23. Lem says:

She seems to have gotten the Kate Gosselin extreme makeover special

  24. Gabby says:

She reminds me of Dina Lohan. Long Island trash.

  25. KK says:

This makes me thankful that my dad’s mistress had some sense to protect my little brother from this type of situation. How are those siblings ever going to have a relationship? I don’t give a shiz about the adulterers but I feel for the kids. My dad had a child from an affair and left the family for a while. The only reason I kept a relationship with him and his mistress was to know my sibling.. Eventually my father crawled back to my mom and we were able to move past everything for the sake of my sibling. Almost 15 years have passed and I will be tied to the mistress forever because of what they did. I could not imagine being able to do that if his mistress had done all the things this crazy biatch has done.

    • TQB says:

Wow, that’s a really interesting perspective and it just makes her more gross. Your family is proof that you CAN put the kids first and come out OK – – but not if you run off screaming to the press with nasty lies. What a hobag. Also, i will never forgive her for ruining the name “Quinn” for me while I was pregnant.

  26. potatopeel says:

oh honestly – I’m just shocked. not. She writes a “tell all” book that has more personal information than we need to know – and her breaking up is “private”? please go away and – just go away.

  27. lassie says:

I guess the ‘cease and desist’ letter from his lawyers came last week.

  28. lucy2 says:

How stupid is this bitch? She’s blabbing all the time and then wants privacy? And she actually thinks he loved her? Please. I think he’d nail anything that moved, and she was just dumb enough to keep coming back for more.

  29. atorontogal says:

Why does this horrible vile woman keep getting press? This is what’s wrong with the world! If you keep posting their pics and stories (Kardashians et al) they will NEVER go away!!!

  30. Nev says:

    don’t cheat.

  31. Ann says:

Hope she’s comnfortable being alone. Because really, what kind of man is going to want to be with her now? She’s acknowledged that she’s a homewrecking slut, who will spill any secrets you share with her, and is more interested in celebrity/notoriety than nurturing her personal relationships.

The person I really feel bad for is her poor child. Any loving mother in this situation would try to keep herself and the child out of the limelight. But no, she invites even more media scrutiny. That poor little girl drew the short end of the stick in the parent lottery.

  32. Jaded says:

She has continually tried to legitimatize her selfish, immoral and delusional behaviour by attacking someone who can’t defend herself, namely Elizabeth Edwards. That is the lowest form of scapegoating I can think of and demeans not only Elizabeth’s memory but humiliates the entire family. Why John Edwards didn’t try to defend his family from her constant famewhoring and dump her long ago mystifies me.

  33. Masque says:

    Dear Ms. Cunter,

Not for one minute do I believe Elizabeth Edwards was a saint nor do I believe she didn’t know about John’s infidelities. However, what happened between them HAPPENED BETWEEN THEM. You do not have a right to criticize the woman you were trying to cuckold.

Secondly, even if she knew everything it doesn’t change the fact that you are a delusional skank.

Also, cut your damn bangs or grow them out. They look ridiculous.

    Sincerely,
    Masque

  34. the original bellaluna says:

So, let me attempt to understand this…

She wouldn’t “do that again” but she doesn’t regret loving him, yeah?

To my mind, that means she WOULD “do that again” but just wants it to SEEM like she wouldn’t.

  35. mewmow says:

Wether or not Elizabeth was a saint, she is no longer here to defend herself and she needs to shut up. It is disgusting, the things she says and I pray her book is a bomb. 🙁

  36. Jayna says:

They weren’t done a long time ago. She said he ended it the end of last week. In other words, after he saw that crappy Friday night interview carrying on about their hot sex and bashing Elizabeth. You could see she’s shaken on the View today by the ending. She is so narcissistic. What did she expect? She writes a book bashing the mother of his children. How was she ever going to be a part of their lives. Maybe if she would have been respectful and laid low, they could have accepted her eventually. But the two interviews bashing Elizabeth and bragging about hot sex when Elizabeth was still alive and rubbing it in a dying woman’s face and this book and her smugness sealed the deal. What kind of person has zero compassion or class to do that? She’s too narcissistic to see how classless that is. Her need for publicity is her undoing. She hasn’t worked and barely ever had a career. She states in People she would like to host a reality show giving advice to married couples. Funny how she won’t say his reason for ending it, just her reason for agreeing. I’m sure he was displeased with the book and interviews and realized she could never be part of his family. For once I respect him, putting his children first and not condoning the bashing of their dead mother.

Sorry, Rielle, your 15 minutes are up. Buh-bye.

  37. mary simon says:

What these two pigs did to Elizabeth Edwards in her life, and after her sad, terrible death, is reprehensible and unforgiveable.

I think Rielle released the book after “Johnny” refused to give her more lifstyle money. She is following through on a blackmail threat. They have not been together all this time if he has been living 2 1/2 hours away from her and their daughter. If they were truly together, she never would have released this book, which is just more embarrassment for him, if he even has enough shame to be embarrassed about any of the foul things he does.

We’ll be seeing Rielle and her “hot” sexual rockstar in court soon enough, trashing each other and battling over visitation rights and lifestyle money.

  38. Stacie says:

This is ridiculous. Everyone down here in NC knows he has been hitting on anyone and everyone. She is completely delusional.

    • Jayna says:

He will marry a nice, respectable late 30-ish/early 40s pretty southern belle, who isn’t bragging about their hot sex life, that his children love and who he will actually bring out in public while trying to rehabilitate his image as much as it can be (or a little as it can be), and that woman probably has enough class and common sense to help him navigate that in the right way (no tell-all bashing dead wife), and Rielle will be sitting on the sidelines (as a spiritual teacher still out of work LOL) watching the woman dote on her daughter. Karma is a bitch, but Elizabeth will be smiling in heaven.

      • the original bellaluna says:

I pity the nice, respectable woman that marries this man-pig.

      • EnuffSaid says:

That’s a bit if an oxymoron…a nice respectable woman wouldn’t look twice in that smarmy bastards
direction. And about Elizabeth ‘not being a Saint’ who the hell is?! He would have driven any kind of sanity from his poor wife with all his low class rubbish…as if burying her son wasnt enough to endure…RIP Elizabeth…i admired you!

  39. Jayna says:

He had to hang in there with her until his trial was over. No need to piss off a potential witness.

  40. kibbles says:

I agree with this statement: “…it really says something about him that this is the kind of woman he went for as a mistress/girlfriend”.

Totally. Sure, Edwards is a sleazebag but he isn’t a rarity among the human race. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last man to have a mistress/mistresses and a non-marital child. What is shocking to me is that he would be so stupid as to have an affair with a woman like this. He might have been able to get away with this and go on to become just one of the thousands of cheating bastards in national politics if he had chosen to cheat with a half-decent woman with a career of her own at stake. Rielle Hunter is the lowest of the low. It is sickening even to look at her. She isn’t even attractive and still looks cheap despite all the millions she is making from her affair. Edwards made the biggest mistake of his life when he chose to lie in bed with this vile woman.

  41. bella says:

scum is scum but i really LOVE her blouse! i want it.

  42. april says:

So why don’t you all bash John McCain too? He had several affairs when he was married to his first wife who was disabled from a car accident, and they also had small children. He got engaged to Cindy McCain when he was still married to his first wife. This is all fact and not fiction.

But he gets a free pass as a moral leader. He’s absolutely no better than Edwards and Hunter in the cheating department.

    • fabgrrl says:

John McCain? Who the hell cares about John McCain? I believe all of his marriage shenanigans occurred in the 1970s, and not while he was seeking a Presidential nomination or gunning for the VP slot. As far as I know, McCain never publicly denied paternity of his own child, or asked a (married) staffer to claim paternity. He never marched his wife out to lie for him about an his extramarital affairs.

I don’t particularly like John McCain, but comparing him to Edwards is unfair.

    • Katija says:

Because this is about John Edwards. But okay. I’m a Conservative, and I think McCain is a creepy old douche who shows poor moral character, and who was so inept at his job that he didn’t have the brains to shoot down the obviously horrible Palin idea, and would have made a lousy president.

Happy? Now back to John Edwards…

      • april says:

My point is that both of these men vied for presidency in the same election and neither were moral in past or present. One got away with having had an affair and the other did not.

  43. Katija says:

She makes Lewinski look like Grace Kelly. Good Lord. NO class.

  44. Bec says:

I saw her on The View today and she seems totally crazy. A true nut job. She seems to have no understanding of how hurtful and offensive her words have been. She’s also crass and rough. Elizabeth had a such a grace about her.

WHY DO THE DEMOCRATS NEVER CHEAT WELL? As sleazy as John is, at least he wasn’t preaching ‘family values’ like a lot of republicans do while they simultaneously screw everything in town. He worked to get healthcare and living wages for poor families. He’s a liar and a sleaze but at least he’s not proposing public policies that punish people for being human like the Republicans do.

    • Dirty Martini says:

Oh good grief. You are bringing political party affiliation into this and trying to make one better or worse than another as it relates to marital infidelity?

Cheating is cheating is cheating is cheating. Regardless of your political affiliation. Both parties are full of hypocrites who posture for no reason other than re-election.

      Its celebitchy….not Huff Po.

  45. Anon73 says:

WHAT a loser… she needs to go away already

  46. prucilla says:

We throw our trash in the garbage can not air it out all over the press.

  47. skuddles says:

Aww now that’s a crying shame. But don’t despair Rielle, sure there are lots of other women’s husbands out there who’d love to take up with a morally bankrupt, shaggy-doo’ed ditchpig such as yourself. Keep that pointy chin up girl!

  48. Sandip says:

Good for John Edwards, This woman is crazy.

  49. Beatriz says:

“And as sappy as it may sound, I love living in love,” she writes.”

Dear lord, how old is this woman, 14?

“Hunter, 48, wouldn’t say whether one of them made the break.”

    =he dumped her ass.

  50. Brittney says:

“Would I do that again?” repeats Hunter almost incredulously. “No way. Absolutely not.”

I’m sure Quinn will be happy to read that if her mom had it her way, she never would’ve been born.

…seriously, it was all a huge, embarrassing disaster, but she could have at least acknowledged the fact that her *daughter* made it all worthwhile.

  51. moo says:

she reminds me of that other fame whore who disappeared not long ago…. Kate whateverhenamewas and her 8 kids….

  52. Meanchick says:

    They’re still a couple—-of imbeciles.

  53. Onyx XV says:

Gee, what a surprise! I wonder if the break-up had something to do with her tacky book? Hmmm…that’s a head scratcher for sure! 😉

  54. Mary says:

My favorite part of the article was “That’s private”. Obviously nothing to her is private so I take that to mean that he broke up with her? I don’t know, but I can’t imagine his kids are happy about the book. They may have stood by their father during the trail which is one thing, but to watch while you father screws around with a woman who talks shit about your dead mother is another think entirely.
Completely off topic, but I heard that before she dated Edwards she was dating Jeff Goldbloom??

    • stinky says:

WOWzer. And its common knowledge he’s a cuckoo, but i still liked him. Wow. He really stooped to a serious low. Dang. Any hole will do. wtf.

  55. Sarah says:

She really may be the biggest narcissist on the planet. Just ick!

  56. Dirty Martini says:

This woman is bat $hit crazy. The man is slime and sleeze personified.

And I’m not for sanctifying Elizabeth as candidly I dont buy that she was all innocently naitve and unaware. I think it suited her to pretend she was. She loved the life of Mrs John Edwards, public servant, and their brand as a couple who sufferened the loss of a son, and her cancer, but persevered. They worked that brand.

Sorry…its true. And I wouldnt wish their expeience with their son or her cancer on my worst enemny. And certainly not on her.

    But they worked it.

And I’m just ready for tis whole story to go away.

  57. darkladi says:

    Rielle,

You are one sociopathic, delusional crusty panty whore. Quit picking on dead women & go the h*ll away

  58. Lucy says:

This geriatric valley-doll-wanna-be needs is so nasty. Has anyone heard her speak? So gross.

  59. mayamae says:

I hope as Americans we have learned from the past and realize that impeaching a man for getting a beej was way over the top.

Having said that, this is so beyond the pale. If this woman is to believed, they were planning their marriage while Elizabeth was dying. Maybe they had a marriage of convenience, but they had two small children that they had spent a lot of time and money on for fertility treatments. I would think that meant at least mutual respect and affection – why else create more children at such a late age?

As a passionate Democrat I truly despise this man. If John Kerry had been elected, this scandal would have occurred around the time of re-election. I could see this fool standing up there smiling knowing he was involved in something so revolting it could possibly bring the presidency down. Just another example of extreme selfishness.

On a completely shallow note – What is it with powerful men being taken down by such unattractive women? Bill Clinton – Gennifer Flowers/Monica Lewinsky, John Edwards – Rielle Hunter, Tiger Woods – the escort lady, Herman Caine – the cross eyed lady, Prince Charles – Camilla (in the past), Eliot Spitzer – prostitute. If I was going to risk destroying my career/reputation/family, the man I chose to risk these things better be almost God-like.

    • hummm says:

Americans didn’t impeach a president for having an affair; he was impeached for lying about it.

If a president lies, a president cannot be trusted.

He is an unaccountable person (learn how he avoided taken responsibility with the Hutus and the Tutus conflict, for example. He never apologized for it, not even in the “mea culpa” speech that the high mandatories did) , and I don’t care about his sexual life, but I care abut the morals.

      • mayamae says:

Are you serious. He lied about a flipping blow job.

What is your opinion of George W. Bush’s lie that cost the lives of thousands of Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqui’s? Give me a break.

      • hummm says:

To Mayamae: What Bush has to with sexual bastards? Have I talked about Nixon, for example? Have I talk about the “war on terrorism”? Curb your temper.

Your like those people in some parts of Europe: something bad happens to their country, they blame it on the US. In your case, something is said about Clinton, you put Bush in the picture! Jajaja

  60. Jill says:

LOL @ geriatric valley doll. She says they are “over” but I am sure her legs are still open for business. What’s the difference. She decided to write a tell all book, how she made money off the affair and death of this fool and his poor wife.

    • hummm says:

She pictures herself as a mother (not a mistress) and says that the children need to know the (her) truth, BUT when she is asked on how she makes the money for her living, she answers:

      “Well, I have a book!”

  61. hummm says:

It is not surprising that John Edwards has not condemned publicly the publication of this book?

It is OK for him to let his mistress to diss his dead wife AND mother of his children?

His values do not represent the American values, that’s for sure!

PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! We are better than that!

  62. the original bellaluna says:

ROL has a story that the reason they broke up is because Cate gave him an ultimatum: her or me!

Guess we know who he chose. For now, at least.

    • Jean says:

Reille was a pauper, they had to buy her a car, furniture and you name it…she knew who John Edwards was and did exactly what she sat out to do. John did what the majority of men do but he got one who was looking for someone with money so she could be set for life as she has never been a success at anythig……….She is something you would see in a horror movie….where is her mother, i’m sure she is PROUD to have her for a daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elizabeth was a movie star ten times over compared to Reille….poor Johnny must have had a sack to put over his head to sleep with Reille… I read soewhere that she was wanting 11 million $ from Johnny, what an idiot she is…God will embrace Elizabeth’s precious children, Cate, Emma Claire and Jack…..All of America are pulling for you and certainly loved your mother. Reille is the MOST hated woman in the WORLD……
