Britney’s X-Factor performance also underwhelms

Maybe my expectations for Britney Spears are too high. She had her third “comeback” performance on an overseas show and instead of improving from her first show on Thursday it seemed like she started off on a mediocre note and just went downhill from there. She was appearing on the show X-Factor, a UK singing competition for which Simon Cowell is a judge. Again, all she did was strut around and move her arms a lot. In this performance she added what I call her “Purell” move in which she rubbed her hands together like she was washing them. She was wearing a headset microphone but it clearly wasn’t on because you couldn’t hear her thank the audience and the announcer had to hand her his microphone at the end of her performance so that you could hear her.

This album is sure to be a best seller for Britney and her singles will infect the airwaves for months, but does she really need to promote it by lipsynching and doing arm aerobics? I wish her well, but I don’t see how she’s improved all that much. It’s like the moment she was moderately stabilized and got thin again she was thrust back into the spotlight to do it all over again. Isn’t this how she lost touch with reality in the first place?

Britney’s 90 minute documentary, “For The Record,” aired on MTV last night. She is quoted as saying that she lives for her boys and her job, and she de-emphasizes the significance of her head-shaving incident:

“At this point I have two precious boys and my job. Those are the two things that have kept me going and kept me strong for the past two years,”

So the question many people want to ask is, why did Britney shave her head, well there is no great story behind this, according to the star a lot of people do it and its normal:

“People shave their heads all the time,” she also stressed that it was not because she was going crazy!

In a powerful documentary, it’s clear that the young star has been through troubled times but at least Britney Spears is not there sulking, according to the star, it’s all about choice:

“I choose to be a happy person. I choose not to be bitter.”

Yes and plenty of women go out night after night in short skirts without underwear. Maybe it’s just me but Britney is really not living up to the hype, and there’s plenty of it. She also graces the cover of Glamour this month and claims in the accompanying interview to be a homebody who likes “staying in bed and watching ‘Dancing With The Stars’ or reading a Danielle Steel novel. I’m kind of boring,” she adds. Many people would agree.

Here’s footage from Britney’s out at nightclub G-A-Y in London celebrating her birthday. It’s not officially until Tuesday, when she’ll celebrate with an appearance on The Today Show and a party in New York.

i LOVE her new cd – i adore her and i think she’ll keep getting better. this is already WAY better than the vma joke! (she’s amazing!)

Awful. Just awful on the X-Factor. Woeful. Embarrassingly, mortifyingly awful. Her management are in danger of killing any future career of hers stone dead.

  3. Scribe85 says:

Is it possible that when Britney injured her knee and had it operated on, that she lost the ability to do those fabulous dance moves for which she was known? Maybe that is why she struts and uses her arms so much.

What did you all think of the documentary last night? I sat there watching just in awe. She seems so unhappy, so lost, so trapped. I never knew that Kevin was the one who left her. She talked about that last night, that she didn’t expect him to leave her and she was devastated. Her PR people talked it up like she escaped the bad boy slacker and was finally divorcing him, but I suppose it didn’t play out that way. I wanted to give her a hug.

And what about Madonna’s face?? She definitely looked like she had cheek implants and her face made Nicole Kidman’s look positively natural.

  5. Mairead says:

I think part of the problem is that she got Larry Randolph (?) the skeezebag back as a manager but presumably didn’t get her old choreographer (I think there was a story of her sacking him before the House of Blues comeback).

TBH it’d be the choreographer i’d get back rather than the man who developed her jail bait persona and gave her the gruelling timetable that probably tipped her over the edge. (Speaking as someone who knows what extreme stress and overwork does to your mental health).

    i could not say better

    Mairead … TBH?
    truth be heard?

  8. geronimo says:

TBH = to be honest (although truth be heard is good too!)

Mairead – it wasn’t just her dismal performance that’s the prob here. It was a Britney special, she didn’t listen to or make any comments about how the performers covered her songs, which is the entire point of having a special guest on the show. She’s way out of her depth and her management are enabling it.

a part of me wanted to watch the special, but then i decided i couldn’t handle that before bed.

it’s the S.O.S. with the brit (same o’l shit) and as curious as i am, i have decided to boycott her as best as i can and not watch/hear anything brit related till she gets out of the limelight. 😕

besides, i know that all of you here are a great source of what i want to know without having to torture myself for an hour watching a drugged up, lost soul!

Brit Brit’s documentary made me wince and fast forward…(yeah DVR is great). She DOES look lost.. she babbled half the time and made no sense. She repeated the same stuff like prisoner, and spirtuality, and that art is her love.. yuck. And I agree that the second she dropped those pounds.. they threw her in to the media pit head first asap. The ‘documentary’ was just another marketing ploy…and it was bad.

You do know why Britney is allowed so many come backs??? This Young person is very loved by so many people. It is very sad Britneys’ Mother is such White Trash. Britney has also been played by her Mother & ex husband Kevin. Britney is betrayed by so many that were suppose to love her. If the same thing happened to you… who is to say you would not act out with bad behavior?

Take the press off Britney and put some heat on that wicked Mother of hers and her two timing money loving husband.

Britney you are still a beautiful loving person who has endured so much. I am a lady approaching 60 yeas old. Be patient judgement catches up with most people.
Britney remain on the path you have fought for, so you can continue to be be loved.

You will always have talent. Your beauty is the legacy you have established for your sanity and your children.

    Kind thoughts from,

    ROFL….. 😆

Part of Britney’s problems is that she never takes responsibility for her issues and mistakes. Both her fans and her handlers blame everyone else whenever there is a problem. It’s Kevin’s fault, it’s her parents fault, it’s the choreographer’s fault, blah, blah, blah. It’s sad that her team views her as a meal ticket, not as a person and her fans don’t care how sick or sad she is they just want their piece. If she was serious about recovery her first step would be admitting that she has problems and going away and dealing with them but as much as she decries fame she loves it too much to walk away.

  14. judy says:

So many people thought it was good but then they dont dislike her lol I think she is doing great.

  15. vdantev says:

She grins like a tired stripper.

  16. sam says:

I actually thought that she was singing over the track (I thought I could hear it at the beginning (part of my reason for this thought is that it didnt sound perfect and why bother lip-synching to a bad track?).I have seen plenty of other singers switch to other mics at the interview section so that didnt bother me(possibly due to volume/feedback issues?).

I thought the choreography could have been improved. It just seemed like she wasnt being given enough to do. Give her some probs (sorry Im thinking Madonnas car prop or something similar) or some more group work. The stage just looked a little bare and I think thats what made it more boring then it needed to be.

  17. ? says:

I wonder why no one seems to address the fact that she doesn’t have another skill set and that getting back to work may be part of her therapy. She did not go to school and to be frank has very little “real life” experience. How does a woman who is in the process of trying to claw her way back from a complete breakdown find herself? Did anyone ever think that the only way to put humpty dumpty back together again is to give her back the only sense of self she knows? Getting to the “core” of who and BS is really about will take years of therapy. Frankly I think they are reaching for the only thing that may have a short term effect.

The control in her life, the papz, the hullabaloo ain’t the problem. It’s her inner demons. People just don’t want to see the writing on the wall. The damage is done. Now it’s time to see if it’s irrevocable.

I hope she manages to get it together – and at some point will make enough headway to see her world for what it is.

  18. Jeanne says:

I’m growing tired of Ms. Spears all over again. It’s always overkill with her. I say give up the singing and dancing and try to bag a reality show. What the hell Paris Hilton got one and it sucks! Britney couldn’t do any worse.

  19. israeli girl says:

hello.. im from israel and i just wanted 2 say that i love her!! (and simon 2) and im so happy that she’s “back”!! wish her all the best and goodluck
