Cuba Gooding, Jr. wanted by police, to be arrested on sight for shoving female bartender

We haven’t heard much about Cuba Gooding Jr. in a while. His career has pretty much been in the crapper for some time, although he’s been working steadily. (In films like Snow Dogs, Boat Trip and Daddy Day Camp.) If this latest news is true Cuba, 44, might have anger management issues and/or a drinking problem. He’s a wanted man in New Orleans after an incident in which he allegedly shoved a female bartender multiple times when she asked him to leave. Cuba was supposedly mad at patrons for recognizing him. Are you kidding? He should be grateful he still gets recognized. Cops in New Orleans have been instructed to arrest him on sight. Here’s more:

Cuba Gooding, Jr. is a wanted man by the New Orleans Police Department after an altercation in a bar where he allegedly punched a bartender twice early Tuesday morning.

The NOPD has issued an arrest warrant for the 44-year-old actor after he was accused of hitting the bartender at Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street at about 3 a.m.

“A female bartender told officers that Gooding entered the bar with a group of people, and after a few minutes, other customers recognized him and started asking him to take photos with them. The bartender said Gooding soon became very aggravated with them,” the NOPD press release stated.

“That’s when she says she approached him and asked him to calm down. Gooding then allegedly pushed her away with an open hand. One of the bartender’s co-workers then called 9-1-1. At that point, the bartender says she informed Gooding that the police were on the way, and that he needed to leave. Gooding then allegedly pushed her again, and left the bar.”

Cuba is in New Orleans to work on a movie set in the 50s called The Butler. It’s the story of a White House butler who served 8 presidents and also features Oprah, Lenny Kravitz, and a handful of stars you might not expect like Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson, Forest Witaker, Robin Williams, John Cusack, Jane Fonda, and Liev Schreiber. There are more names you would recognize that I didn’t even mention, you can see the cast list on IMDB. So maybe Cuba’s part is minor, it’s hard to tell.

I hope Cuba turns himself in soon. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about him having issues with drinking. The National Enquirer claimed that he was on a massive bender in March. In an April appearance on Good Morning America, Cuba acted hungover or hopped on something as he grabbed a child out of the crowd and threw him up in the air twice. He really did this. Here’s video:

Cuba is shown at the non-roast of Tom Cruise on 6-12, with his sons at the Amazing Spiderman premiere on 6-28, at the Rock of Ages premiere on 6-8-12, and on set on 7-27. Credit: WENN and FameFlynet

why does the story claim alleged punching when further into the story all it says is open hand shoving? Regardless, he should keep his hands to himself, he seems like an angry drunk and those are the worst..

Who throws a stranger’s child into the air?! I would have beating his high-on-coke-ass if that was my kid.

Dude’s got to be bitter about how his career turned out. I mean, Snow Dogs, ffs.

    • mandolinera says:

YES! i would lose my shit if someone took my child and did that!

    • deehunny says:

I know he’s older than McGuire but he looks like he has some serious alcohol bloat going on in the face (a la Christina Agulleria).

Um that whole kid thing was scariness. Had to show everyone in the room that one

  3. Turtle Dove says:

I want him arrested for all those crap movies he’s in that are on Crackle. Sweet, Jesus. It was all downhill from Snow Dogs. Someone didn’t manage his career very well.

I assume the rehab announcement will be coming shortly?

    • skuddles says:

Probably. And then he’ll do a 30 day stint, come out saying he’s all recovered, and then his agent (if he even still has one) will promote him as bankable box office again. A la Gerard Butler.

Well that bummed my morning… I always liked Cuba! And can no man over 40 handle his liquor??

  6. Saema says:

Omg! I can’t stop laughing! He was allegedly pissed at being recognized? Wha-What? He’s sooooo famous now that he’s sick of getting papped……. !? Stardom and its heavy price…… Lol – poor Cuba!

  7. Little Darling says:

No snark on this…I hope he gets the help he needs. He’s looking super busted! 🙁

  8. logan says:

Too bad he isn’t Lindsay Lohan, he could shove all bartenders he wanted. Just sayin.

I go to New Orleans very regularly, and I know those bartenders who work at the Old Absinthe House, as I go to this bar a lot while I’m there. I can’t wait to ask them about this during my next trip. Those female bartenders that work there are extremely nice, very patient with the sometimes crazy NOLA crowd, and good-natured and very conversational with customers. Most of the bartenders there have also worked there for many years and do their jobs very well and very professionally. He’s a jerk.

    Hes looking fooooooogggggglllyyyy.

What a shame – his career, possibly alcohol problems, shoving women, tossing children. He really crashed hard from the top, huh?
The story behind that movie is an interesting one though, I vaguely remember hearing about that a while back. Will have to look into it more.

Once again erroneous and false reports get printed as truth. Its a shame that in America we idolize celebrities so much that we can’t keep our hands off them when they go out in public. I have a friend who was there that night and she swore that all Cuba was doing was trying to leave because it was way too crowded. This eye witness saw another patron push the bartender and Cuba was really just tousled in the crowd…He’s a great actor and a good guy — I have friends who have worked on movies and he’s always nice to the crew and fans…This is just someone looking to get their bar in the paper.

Cuba has made a couple of B-type movies in the town I live in, and frequented the hotel bar at one of our most luxurious hotels. A friend of mine used to kind of hang out with him there, and said he was really “grabby” with the women, a lot of inappropriate behavior. I understand from people who work at the hotel that he is no longer welcome to stay there because of his behavior. I wasn’t surprised at all when I read this story. Hope he gets it together.

Somebody needs to bust this guy’s balls. I worked as a bartender back in the day and the only time I had a situation like this arise (and very rarely) was when I had to reject somebody HARD or cut them off because they were too pissed. Usually a combination of the two. Gooding needs a big reality check about what he can and cannot do to other people. My take is he’s a washed up actor with a big chip on his shoulder. And a drinking problem.
