Everybody wants to talk about these photos! So here you go – Prince William, Prince Harry and Duchess Kate were all in attendance at yesterday’s Team Pursuit Track Cycling Olympic event, where they watched Team GB take the gold and set a new world record. William and Kate were so pleased, they actually forgot they were out in public and William (prepare to gasp and clutch your pearls) EMBRACED his wife in an enthusiastic manner. Kate, unsure of exactly what was happening and unfamiliar with such a public gesture, gently embraced her husband back, throwing one arm around his neck and placing her other hand on his arm. THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCANDAL EVER.
Of course I’m being facetious, so don’t yell at me. I do believe William was caught up in the emotion and excitement, and he just grabbed onto Kate. I like how Kate still had her body turned towards the action, though. And she still looked like, “I need to make sure the photographers get a good shot!” No, I jest. Or am I?
Coincidence or conspiracy: William publicly embraced his wife when she had her hair pulled back in a ponytail! Perhaps he’s tired of her sausage-curl security blanket? Doesn’t Kate look adorable with a ponytail? Don’t they both look like… kids? Not kids, but they look like they’re in 20s again, carefree and happy. Bedhead said that she thinks Kate and Will definitely went home and had sex after this. Maybe the Olympics will finally be the magic that makes a baby! Nine months from now, I’m calling it – nine months from now, there will be a royal baby.
You know one of my favorite parts about Will, Kate and Harry at the Olympics? Even though I know they have handlers and security people around them, I like that there aren’t “royal boxes” for most of these events, and that the young royals are mixing it up in whatever seats they get.

Corny- I am surprised this is the first time I have seen them wearing their accreditation (id tags). I was a chef at the 2000 Olympics and had to wear mine under my chef’s jacket at all times. Everyone- athletes, coaches, judges, staff- had to wear them when they were at Olympic, athletes or media village. They were huge pains in the butt. I had a more extensive back ground search for that than when I worked at Social Security!

Corny-I know right!!! Security at the Olympics is crazy. My ID tag was scanned every time I had to work and I had to go through a metal detector too. The Australian army and NSW cops were on hand everyday. It wasn’t to difficult to put up with-men in uniforms with sexy accents. It was wonderful working in that environment.

Don’t you think her face looks weird? I mean, it is very pretty – it just does not look like her normal self.
I was wandering if she had jacked it for the Olympics and all the TV coverage she was going to get? I also thought that maybe she put on some weight – thank god, as she was looking like a skeletor. But her body seems to have remained the same.
SO is it injections? Or maybe she’s actually preggers already, and that’s why she’s looking so lovely, with such a healthy glow for a change?

It is patently clear that you didn’t see the video – or maybe didn’t want to see what was obvious.
The video shows no “two young people embracing each other”. It shows one of them grabbing the other around the waist, while the other person doesn’t even look at him.
Really, watch the video before commenting.

YMMV but yes, in the video footage, the embrace looked awkward to me. It looked more like Willliam was just grabbing onto the person next to him the heat of the moment over the win for team GB not lovingly embracing his wife.

Why do couples always have to lovingly embrace each other? If he wanted to hold onto someone he could have turned to Harry so they can fangirl together. Instead he clung onto his wife with the ridiculous body.

Couples do not always have to lovingly embrace, but Will should probably be careful he doesn’t break any brittle bones on Katherine. I’m assuming by “ridiculous body” you mean anorexic and skeletal? I hate that people are worshiping her underweight form as something womanly or hot. It is not; it is sickly and I think she needs help. She can’t get pregnant that thin. And I’m not a Kate hater, I just think the perpetuated stereotype that women need to be sticks to be attractive is gross and degrading.

Im sure a lot of that air of chill they have around them is Kate trying fit in with the royalty. I think that its up to William, and will continue to be up to him, to let his guard down, so that his wife knows that it is okay for her to do so as well. Thats why she and Harry get on so well, I believe.
I think the world has already accepted that she is no Diana, and would much rather see her just being laid back and happy.

Meh….I saw these yesterday; they look cute and are having fun distressing at the Olympics. This will be a tough year for the UK with the recession on, so it’s good that they are all able to enjoy the summer at the games.

Have you been watching the coverage? They have been like this at biking, rowing, etc.
They cheered on Zara in eventing and looked happy and normal. This isn’t just one picture.

I think these two do truly love each other. I just think William looks super bored when they go to official events and she tries to look all chipper (so trying to mask her boredom). However the Olympics are supposed to be fun and they are clearly enjoying themselves here.
And yes the pictures in which William is helping her climb over the seat holding her hand (because she is wearing those tall wedges) are adorable!

I think it would be scandalous if the pics were of Prince Albert and his Prison Bride.
Will and Kate’s relationship always looks good to me. After 9 years they still look very much in love. There was plenty of PDA on their royal trip to Canada, not sure why people are acting so surprised, it’s hardly a relevation.

I couldn’t believe those pics of Charlene and Albert. Charlene had an obvious Olympic gold high. She looked…relaxed…and happy. She even draped herself over Albert. I thought I’d never see something like that.
Albert needs to take her on a world tour of swimming events. He’d have his heir pretty quick.
The video of the W&K hug is a bit awkward. Its okay Will, you can touch her. I do like the pictures of The Wave. They were also doing The Wave at Wimbledon. I’m enjoying these happy and relaxed royals.

Ponytail!!!!! FINALLY. More of this please Kate. Although she’s still wearing those damn 4.5″ wedges! There are shots of her from the other day talking to some fairly petite female athletes while wearing those shoes and she’s actually bending her knees to make herself shorter to talk to them. Ugh. I really want to know why she won’t wear flats.
I agree that Will and Kate probably are getting it on a lot right now but I still say they will put off actual baby making until after their tour in September. Why does everyone seem to think that they don’t use birth control?

About the Harry/Kate rumors, appearances can be deceiving, and she generally seems happier and more affectionate toward William when Harry’s around, which could indicate “emotional displacement”…
But I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. For now. Haha.
I won’t put it past the Royal inside circle to have told Kate to back off Harry and to show affection toward Will in front of the cameras to debunk rumors, too. Just saying. Perhaps there’s a real friendship between Harry and Kate and if a love triangle ever is proven, it’s something we as the public could be looking into before the people in question even realize it’s going on.

I think the photos are gorgeous and natural. Imagine how different it all would have been if we were looking at an in-love Prince Charles and Princess Diana at such an event. How Diana would have loved Charles to “hang loose” and be demonstrative like that, but it probably would have been frowned on by the Establishment back then anyway. They probably would have been hauled over the coals the next day. Not so now. One of Diana’s legacies is to get the Monarchy to loosen up a bit. Zara Phillips is also lovely and natural. It makes me happy to see Princes William and Harry so happy after that awful tragedy in their young lives.

Not true. There are plenty of pictures and videos of charles and diana PDA at polo matches, on tour, at engagements circa 1980-1985. After that the marrigae died, the PDA stopped and was explained away with that urban legend of royals not being allowed to touch in public when the truth is they couldn’t stand each other and were living separate lives but had to keep up appearances.

I’m afraid I think William is just really, really into his sport. He’d have hugged anyone he was close to and fond of at that moment.

The Duchess looks better and happier and more natural here than in almost any other photo since her wedding. The only thing I can think that compares to it is that photo shoot she did when she was playing field hockey with some girl’s team.

Kate has a very pretty smile, and in here she doesn’t look as “posed” as she normally is in many situations. Her smile is warmer, more genuine. She doesn’t seem as aware of the cameras. She was in the moment and let loose.

Yes, Molly. Beatrice has been with her boyfriend Dave Clark for years. In fact, I seem to recall that (rumor has it) he helped Fergie out last year when she had her latest financial crisis. So the guy has money. There are many pictures of the two of them showing genuine affection.

IA. When I first saw the photos, I thought the hugging was very, very sweet and lovely to see. But then I saw the video footage and it really did seem more like Wills just got super caught up in the excitement of Team GB winning gold and grasped the nearest person standing next to him, and to whom he happened to be turned towards: Kate.
I don’t at all think the hug was contrived or devoid of emotion. But I also don’t think it was this deep, mutually connected, lovey-dovey embrace some media outlets are making it out to be. I mean, some of the excitement on the Internet over these pics would have you think K&W were humping each other in public!
The photos of Kate and Wills doing the wave are cute, though. It’s nice to see that, seemingly for a moment, Kate isn’t paying attention to the cameras.

just saw the video and to me what comes to mind is that she did not forget the cameras a second. If my husband hugs me I turn to him we smile and kiss and return to our initial positions. We are 35 and not overly affectionate in public. I doubt that I am the only person who thinks it looks special she did not turn to look at him even a second. For most people it is an automatism to turn and look at your spouse when he hugs you. I guess se was really not expected it?
