Demi Moore sort-of denies she’s had plastic surgery

Demi Moore has a new interview in the latest issue of Hello! in which she promotes her film Flawless with Michael Caine, which was just released in the UK. Moore, 46, address the long standing rumor that she’s had millions of dollars worth of plastic surgery, and it’s hard to tell whether she’s denying having had anything done at all or if she’s just saying that the amount of work that has been reported is untrue. It sort of sounds like she’s denying surgery altogether and she almost rules it out for the future:

Do you get irritated by all the rumours suggesting you paid $3 million for surgical procedures on your face and body?
“Yes, it’s irritating - and it’s also not true. But to fight it feels futile because it just perpetuates the myth. The truth is I have no problem with enhancing one’s looks or fixing something that’s changed. It’s always an option, but I can’t see me ever getting something like that done.”

Demi also talks about the ageism in Hollywood, an issue that she’s addressed in the past. She says that she has trouble finding roles because she’s older but doesn’t look old enough. As for how she keeps her figure, she says her fitness routine is a lot more relaxed than in the past when she she claims she nearly killed herself getting buff:

Is it harder finding the right roles now you are in your 40s?
“Being the age I am, it has been a tough few years because there is so much focus on how I look. It almost got to the point where I felt like, ‘Well, they don’t know what to do with me’. I am flawed. I’m not 20, not 30, but I’m certainly different from what most people feel someone in her 40s should be. I’m very comfortable with the age I am, and the way I look.”

You’re famous for getting into shape for your roles - and you look amazing. Do you still have to work out a lot?
“I must admit that I did nearly kill myself years ago, but I’ve not had that kind of time for quite a while. There was a time when I took on several film roles that made it absolutely necessary for me to be buff, but I took it a bit too far, I think.

“I used to love running, but I have replaced that with brisk walking - it’s less impact on the bones. I also do Pilates to stretch and elongate the muscles, and some light weights. I don’t kill myself any more.”

Moore calls her children her “biggest accomplishments in life,” and says “there is nothing more fulfilling” than motherhood. She previously defended her teen daughters against people who criticize their looks, saying “It’s straight out cruelty… [they] aren’t choosing to be in the public eye.”

I like Demi Moore and don’t think she should be forced to admit to anything she’s not comfortable telling the public. It seems like she’s mincing words when it comes to plastic surgery, though. She’s surely had a little something done here and there, as well as some fillers and botox. Maybe she’s referring to more drastic measures as well as the outrageous amount of money that’s been claimed she spent on procedures.

  1. I like Demi, I really do, but please! Stop with the pretence. The only thing she’s very disengenously denying here is that she’s spent $3 million on surgical procedures, not that she’s had the surgical procedures. She’s denying the ‘outrageous’ rumours NOT the reality of all the work she’s had done. Such mixed messages: anger over people making nasty comments about how her kids look while spending vast amounts of money to enhance how she looks herself.

  2. I don’t understand the need to deny having work done. It’s practically part of the job description in their line of work. That said, she DOES have lines on her face and she DOES look too old to be in her 20’s. Whatever she’s had done, it was discreet and within reasonable limits.

She has no reason to be ashamed. She hasn’t ruined herself or overreached reality in her looks.

    She’s gorgeous. However she’s accomplished that…bravo.

  3. I always thought Demi sold Rumer (her firstborn, after all) to the devil himself to get the body she had in that Charlie’s Angel movie. The fact that Rumer is widely criticized for her looks is “proof” that the devil is taking his due.

BTW, I love Rumer and think she’s very cute and distinctive. I named my first dog after her, who passed away a year ago at 14.5 years!

  4. Didn’t she get a boob job for that stinker of a movie, Striptease?

  5. You know, most of us can at least say, “we were hot!” in our youth, I’ve seen Demi Moore’s childhood photo’s and girl was hit with the ugly stick, so if she wants to be the hottest chick in the room now, so be it. And if she can handle being cut up, sown back together and deal with that pain, then all the power to her. She looks great and I wish I looked half as good as she does.

  6. I think she’s disputing the dollar amount. Like…it was probably $2.9M

  8. Yeah, she was commenting on the dollar amount and the idea that the work was extensive. But seriously, her face barely moves, her eyes and jawline are completely different. I would say she’s had “hundreds of thousands of dollars” of work done.

  9. Lucky for her she’s not Pinocchio - otherwise she’d have the next costly operation coming right up.

  10. Why why why didn’t she give the name of her plastic surgeon to those poor women who are now disfigured? Meg Ryan, Nicole Kidman come to mind. Demi looks natural, and beautiful, if she’s had work done it’s been good work. So who cares?

  11. For all her money, she replaced her teeth with a set of chiclets that look like they came from a smile specialist at the neighborhood mall.

  12. She looks good and if shes had work done at least shes not addicted to it like some other *cough catlady cough* people we see. She may have had work done but shes got 1 thing money cant buy and sadly many people in hollyweird lack …. Class.

  13. i think that she is disputing the amount too! I have had work done (tummy, lipo, breasts) and she would have to have a procedure done everyday or go to a doctor that charges ASTRONOMICAL amount of $$$$ to spend that much. If she did, she should have given some to Rumor to help her…. (cut the chin down)

  16. Demi looks great! Her surgeon is talented, didn’t over do it. Worth every penny whatever the true cost.
She had her teeth done also.

  17. Honestly, I think that someone who takes care of herself can look the way she looks at 46. You can see fine lines on her face and she was always slim, so her body is not that uncommon for someone who never gained much weight. She was hot after three childbirths, and she’s not that old to look any different. I know some regular folks (not celebrities) who also look great at this age without any work done. She doesn’t look 20sh, she looks maybe 5-10 years younger her age.

  18. I thought it was no secret back when she was in that abysmal Charlie’s Angels movie.

I do know that one of my friends told me that when she was bemoaning her post-childbirth hips, her doctor said, “If that really bothers you, I’ll give you the name of Demi Moore’s plastic surgeon.”

  19. Supposedly she spent around $25,000 on her teeth, which really isn’t that much when you think about it. Veneers are like a couple grand a piece, plus the whitening or possible straightening she may have had done, it all adds up.

I don’t really see that much of a difference in her face after all these years. I think she was a lot better looking when her face was a bit fuller, maybe early twenties. But it may have just been baby fat, I don’t know. I’m in pain just thinking of the jaw-shaving procedure. Yikes.

  20. I personally think she had work done and it’s damn good work. She’s gotten older, but hasn’t fought it with the zeal of Madonna…Demi still looks human and not like she’s trying to look 20, just her age, and really good for it.

If she didn’t have work done on her face, DAMN!! Good genes!

  21. Well she has a VERY yound husband, so I am sure she’s trying her best to look as young as she can. The good thing is, if she has had work done, the doctor has done a fantastic job. There have beenn waaay too many botched jobs on these stars.
She is a beautiful woman and too bad those looks did not transfer over to her daughter Rumor!

  22. OMG, Demi Moore has had so much plastic surgery, her face is not even the same shape it used to be and she has totally different teeth. She is unrecognizable from her photos 20 years ago. I would say at least a million dollars worth. However, if I had her money, I would do the same thing and the results turned out well.

  23. Rumor inherited her mother’s “original” big jawline which she is criticized for. I am sure her daughter knows her mother spent mucho money to change her looks.

  25. I love Demi Moore, I have watched her since she was on General Hospital and she looks the same. If I had her money I would pay to keep up my good looks to. I have good genes and people still tell me I look the same since high school. Keep up the good looks Demi.

  27. My opinion, is strictly an opinion… If you look closely, she has tiny crows feet and laugh lines, which, rules out fillers, she has beautiful skin because she didnt bake herself in the sun on exotic islands like all the other celebs. She was a mother taking care of her kids. She even bare a scar on her left cheek bone, and starting to show age in her neck. I am sorry, Demi is aging gracefully and naturally!!! She looks gorgeous!!! If she was was paying millions of dollars, she would have picked those things to cover up. I am a 30 year old mom, who notices these things on myself, and wish I had money to correct them on myself, and she is proud enough to model them. So I say, in MY OPINION, she doesnt look like she is having work done. But who am I??? At least she doesnt look like Joan Rivers, lmao!!!

  28. Who gives a hoot if she’s had surgery or not? I just turned 49 and not many people I meet believe me unless I show them my drivers license. Just because I’m not 50 pounds over weight, color over my gray hair, take care of myself and to dress in an age appropriate classic style that doesn’t age me, doesn’t mean I’ve had “work” done. I’m pleased as punch that I’m aging well and kudos to every other woman I know doing the same. BTW, anyone who thinks Demi doesn’t look her age should take a look at her MTV Video Award appearance - that’s a 40ish woman dressing too young and looking her age. To everyone who has to provide catty and snide comments that it just isn’t possible to look good over 40 because they don’t I say spend a few minutes every day on yourself - a healthy diet alone will go a long way - both your appearance and your attitude will benefit from it.

  30. She’s gorgeous and other than some advanced skin care and cosmetic dentistry she looks completely natural.

When she sounds ambiguous, she may simply be referring to the breast enlargement she had in the 80’s which was obvious to anyone. I think the rest is simply Hollywood myth.

  31. Patricia is correct. All those years back on General Hospital, Demi looked the same as she does now. She has certainly not altered her jawline, and it was never anything like Rumer’s.
She did get a boob job, as she was pretty much flat-chested in all those brat pack movies.

  32. Of course she has had plastic surgery. Those of us who have grown up with her know all too well. Her breast implants go back a long time, the teeth and the rest followed. Both Madonna and Demi had boob jobs ages ago. Without them do you really think they would be so popular?

  33. I’m 32, and no one believes my age until they start adding up how many years of college I’ve had. I think she may have had some peels and a few other things done in her derm’s office, but she doesn’t have that skullish look one gets from a lift. Sunscreen and eye creams are key to help prevent aging - as is taking care of your neck skin. If you do that, you can fool people.
