Prince Harry releases Paralympic video amid reports there are more Vegas photos

I’ve included a just-released video of Prince Harry, one of the UK’s Olympic ambassadors, issuing a statement about the Paralympic Torch Relay. I have no idea if this was filmed before Harry even went to Las Vegas, or whether this is a spur-of-the-moment “let’s change the subject” video that was thrown together yesterday as a way to deflect from Royal Jewel-gate. I do know that I (immaturely!) giggled throughout the video, mostly because of Harry’s funny little face, and the fact that he seems to be suppressing a giggle too. “Curtain-raiser”!! Yes, he raised his curtains. That being said, it kind of works if the intention was to change the subject – sort of. Because now all I’m thinking about is Harry’s hot accent… and his pale English ass. Mm.

Meanwhile, back to Royal Jewel-gate. As many of you know, I was highly critical of the UK press for complying with the Palace’s request/threats over publishing the two photos seen on TMZ. Well, Murdoch’s press machine ended up coming around, and The Sun became the first (and at this point, ONLY) UK newspaper to publish the photos – go here to see The Sun’s rationale.

I won’t get into my long-winded defense of freedom of the press, but I will say that I have no ability to understand the breast-beating and long-winded ethical debate AGAINST publishing the photos. To my gauche, American way of thinking, the photos are newsworthy, and ethically, there is nothing wrong with publishing them. Full stop. But check out The Guardian’s coverage of all of the Prince Harry stuff (we got a nice tip about it!)– they want to come out for freedom of the press, but they hate the fact that the position aligns them with Rupert Murdoch, so they’re trying to come up with convoluted reasons for why the photos shouldn’t be published.

Meanwhile, the rest of the UK tabs (The Mail, The Mirror, etc) are playing catch-up on the reporting – The Mirror has an interesting story about how “seedy” Harry’s Las Vegas trip was, with one source declaring: “It was the seediest party on the Strip. It was messy and out of control. Everyone was quite hammered.” Which means… there could be even MORE PHOTOS. That’s what some people are saying. Max Clifford, a UK publicist, tells Us Weekly he has “been approached by two American girls” claiming to have more Harry photos from Vegas, and that Clifford “turned them down.” But if that’s true, those girls will go somewhere else, for sure. A source tells Us Weekly, “There’s more out there. Stories which wont go down well with the Royal family. It could get worse.” I wonder what American outlets would buy them? Not People Mag – but Us Weekly would, I bet. Radar and TMZ, of course. And now Murdoch’s press outlets are in the game too.

And finally, TMZ reports that the Chippendales are now interested in hiring Prince Harry. Because the Chippendales are budget stunt queens. You can read more about that here.

I wonder if his sister in law will be taking a sneaky peek at the pics? 😉

  2. spinner says:

The rags are going to milk this for all it’s worth. More pictures? I’d be very surprised if there were not more.

  3. The Original Mia says:

Unless there are sex pictures or pics of him getting serviced, this story is really being overblown. He’s never pretended to be saintly. He’s always been the wild 2nd child. I didn’t see the royal jewels or bush, just a naked man. Ooh, I’m scandalized.

Like Rose, I wonder if Kate’s taken a gander at the ginger royal goods.

    • Jen34 says:

I agree. I don’t see the scandal here at all. Harry is just being Harry. This is just a drop in the bucket compared to what is really hidden in the royal closet. Harry’s father’s “Tampon Gate” was far more damaging. This is harmless.

    • Liberty says:

Agree. They should be more concerned about pictures of Grandpa’s jolly extra family?

And ha. Yes, the image of Kate glued to her secret shoe closet iPad…

    • Emma says:

What surprises me WAY more about all of this is……. why haven’t we ever seen photos like this before? It has taken years! He has been running around naked for probably at least 8 years and only now do we get a few tame pics…

      Disappointed 😛

  4. Riana says:

    Sucks for him.

The moral of the story would be don’t do anything you don’t want broadcasted to the world around girls you met 5 minutes ago.

Wonder if the other pics are of the ‘seedy’ nature or were just talking full dong flashes or something.

  5. Turtle Dove says:

Doubtful that it was ‘seedy’. He’s just a guy having a good time. Not a big deal. Now I’m just feeling bad for the guy. Hopefully, this doesn’t turn into a more serious sex scandal.

*shruggs and wanders back to Swifty’s thread to RSVP shame her some more*

  6. Nilber says:

I am grateful that youtube and camera phones were not around in my youth. I haven’t been to Vegas for any other reason than TDY’s so who knows. I had my share of craziness and so does everyone. Unfortunately when someone is in the public eye there are always people waiting for you to fall.

  7. grabbyhands says:

I feel bad for him. Admittedly, it was a bit naive of him to have put himself in such a position, but he’s free, white and over 21 doing what tons of guys his age do in Las Vegas all the time. But it sounds like maybe he assumed that either no one would dare take snaps or if they did, they would never get published because the palace would squash them before they ever made it to the press. He may have overestimated their reach.

It’s too bad-it seems like he’s matured more recently (no more Hitler costumes, anyway) and it would be a shame if this distracted from the good things he’s done. Maybe I’m jaded being from the US, but these pictures aren’t that big a deal to me and aside from a lecture from his grandmother about being a little smarter next time he’s partying, it should just be forgotten.

  8. Reece says:

The news is really slow right now…
On the capitalist side of this, even if there are more pictures, everyone has already seen the first set. So unless there are actual crown jewels in them, those new ones aren’t worth a dime now.

PS. Some guy starts talking to me with that voice and accent, Yep I would’ve gone back to his room too. 😉 Slut shame me! I don’t care! 😀 There would not have been pictures though.

  9. Sirsnarksalot says:

“Paralympic torch relay”? Is that what he’s calling what he was doing in those nekkid photos? In that case, pass me the torch, Harry 😉

  10. Sarah says:

“It was the seediest party on the Strip. It was messy and out of control. Everyone was quite hammered.”

Lol. Unless his party had a baker’s dozen of hookers, a pile of heroin, and Dustin Diamond, it was not the seediest party on the strip. Naked Drunk Billiards? Puh. Lease. That’s like a Tuesday morning for Vegas.

    • OriginalTiffany says:

No kidding, that is some tame shiz for Vegas. I’ve seen worse from a bunch of married 40 year old drunk chicks at the pools.

There are a ton of upscale topless only pools at every luxe hotel. That the NICE, crazy stuff.

Seedy Las Vegas? You don’t even want to go there or know about it.

    • Jordan says:

LOL! at a baker’s dozen of hookers, a pile of heroin, and Dustin Diamond.

  11. Skins says:

How can anybody take this guy seriously now? If you are going to accept all of the perks of being a “royal” than you should at least behave yourself in a somewhat dignified manner

    • ANGELIC 20 says:

the same way people took diana seriously after she slept with married men or tampon charles or duke of Edinburgh who chased show girls after his wedding to queen and i can go on . royals are know for there scandals and bad behavior, he is not crucified by people at least because he was not hurting any body and is single.

      • Jaded says:

        Right on!

      • Skins says:

Don’t get me wrong, I love this stuff, wish he was out banging strippers and getting photographed every night. Just think considering his position, being single is no excuse. What about the children who look up to their “Prince” Him frolicking around like a frat boy is not a very good example. Then again, I wish i was with him

    • Sachi says:

I think the attention on this is more overblown outside the UK than it is here in England. The outrage seems to be coming more from Americans than it is from the Brits.

I think it was stupid of Harry to be careless with the people in his company that night, but I’m not going to condemn him or forever dismiss him because of this.

The guy is an Apache pilot who has served in Afghanistan. He has a long list of charitable works and has always come across as genuine and dedicated to his causes. He has been able to keep his party hound side completely separate from his persona as a military pilot and a philanthropist.

He loves to party and it’s obvious he’s not a prudish, virginal choirboy. But partying is not his end all and be all. This is not all there is to him. His other shenanigans aside, he has shown that he is capable of growth and maturity in other circumstances.

He wasn’t doing anything illegal in those photos. He wasn’t doing anything that many people in their 20s haven’t done before, royal or not, public figure or not.

Behave in a dignified way? Who expects to be dignified when partying and getting drunk? Nobody was hurt.

He’s not the first and the last person to go to Vegas and behave like this. If you can’t go to Vegas and be wild, then what are you gonna do there?

      • Kate (newer one) says:

I don’t think anyone in this country is bothered. The only comments I’ve heard have been that this is a bit sad at almost thirty, it’s more what you do at university, time to grow up perhaps? Then people stop talking about it and move on to all the sodding rain we’ve had this summer.

I do think it interesting though, that “newsworthy” is the US standard, while “public interest” is the UK standard. People being interested isn’t enough, of itself, to justify intrusion IMO. He was just kicking back. It’s nobody else’s business, really.

  12. ANGELIC 20 says:

    Kaiser

you want to talk about censorship, how about british media is not allowed to publish photos of kate shopping anywhere . a newspaper was threatened because they published photos of her shopping on a public road and this is a photo taken in harry’s own bed room on a private vacation. as far as censorship is concerned banning photos of shopping is lot more controlling and not democratic then a person’s photo in his bed room.

as far as these photos are concerned ,well we will have tampon king and head of church in charles, a cheating DOE and william cheating on kate for years . no one in this family is a saint or righteous person, at least harry was single and not hurting anyone . same cannot be said for his father or grand father or brother .

  13. A says:

Prince Harry is always doing this shit. Yes, he’s getting old for this. But it’s what he does, so I don’t know why people are acting all shocked. I’m curious about how much “worse” the other photos could be. Full frontal? Harry f’ng some girl with other people milling around in the background? Meanwhile, Chelsea is working as a solicitor or barrister in London and living her life. I sometimes think she kept him in check a little.

  14. twoblues says:

Seediest party on the Strip! Hilarious. I live in Vegas, that was tame.

  15. Bess says:

Do you think any of the girls could be under 18???

  16. garvels says:

Film stars go nude all of the time and now men are doing full frontal nudity in movies like the Irish Ginger in Shame,so I think this will go away over time.

I do think Harry has a serious drinking problem which impairs his judgement. Instead of going on active service he should spend 6 months in rehab and he really should ditch his drinking buddies.

  17. Amanda G says:

I’m sure grandma gave him hell for this! I think he’s very lucky these weren’t showing ALL the goods. And we are unlucky.

  18. I think Harry is a darling. He is living a life like his mother. He appears to be the sweetest young man and frankly I don’t care if he wants to walk naked down Las Vegas Boulevard. People these days are so busy judging celebrities, they don’t have time to live their own lives. Whose fault is that: theirs? or the media’s?

  19. Snowangel says:

Really not a story, what would be a story is Harry naked, grabbing another naked guy from behind. That my friends is a story. This is not. This is rich people acting immature. Its what they do in Vegas.

  20. iseepinkelefants says:

People are saying they wonder why this hasn’t happened before but I think it’s two things (and one of them I hate to admit). 1) His security was probably a little more “secure” and it looks like they weren’t exactly doing their jobs because there were stories that they partook in it too.

And second American girls WOULD run to the press for money. I always thought the UK was more apt to kiss and tell (because it seems like there is aLWAYS a kiss and tell whenever I read their gossip), but that kiss and tell would never involve a member of the Royal Family (which is odd. Is it because he’s Diana’s son?). Even when Harry would party in Australia and South Africa no one sold him out, and yet he comes here and there’s a waitress telling her story about a night with him or girls taking photos.
If I were Harry I’d never come here for that reason.
