I already know that all of the Goopy know-it-alls are going to come in here and claim that Gwyneth Paltrow has ALWAYS (!!) maintained homes in America, so just… don’t even bother. I know Goop has always had a place in New York City, although I don’t know if she has consistently maintained a home in LA since she and Chris Martin married. But the point of this is that after Goop and Chris married, Gwyneth pretty much moved to London and starting bitching about America, all while trying to educate dumb, American peasants about the gilded life she leads in England. But now Goop wants to come home. Home to LA. And Chris Martin is all for the move?
Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are making a move across the pond in hope of a little sunshine, rest and recreation, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
The pair, who recently splashed out $10.45 million on a luxury mansion in Brentwood’s Mandeville Canyon, have enquired about private schools in the area for kids Apple and Moses as they plan to spend an extended time in Los Angeles away from the gloom and rain of what has been their permanent base in London, England.
“Chris and Gwyneth have wanted to move to Los Angeles for a while,” a source said.
“Gwyneth spends a lot time between the UK and the U.S. and she’s exhausted with all the traveling. The purpose of buying the lavish home in Brentwood was to make that a semi-permanent base.
“She also spends a lot of time away from her mom, Blythe [Danner] and wants to be closer to her as she gets older. Chris was very understanding and is willing to give living in Los Angeles a chance because he’s always loved the city. Chris’ band won’t be working on a new album for at least another year so he has some breathing space to kick back.
“They’re looking at placing Apple and Moses at a local private school – they both want to make sure the kids are settled and can get a good education.”
Back in June, the glamour couple snapped up their dream L.A. abode, designed by renowned U.S. architect Windsor Smith. The 8,000 sq ft property has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, with a large courtyard that resembles an English manor and a separate cottage at the back.
Tellingly, it’s the most expensive home in the couple’s property portfolio and was described in the U.S. homes magazine Veranda as ideal for “a family that likes luxury but wants their home to be warm and inviting and functional.”
With Gwyneth, 39, and Chris, 35, moving to the U.S. we’ll surely see them hanging out with best buds Beyonce and Jay-Z.
And don’t rule out Kanye West and Kim Kardashian welcoming them with open arms – Chris performed the chorus on the hip-hop star’s 2008 hit Homecoming.
I think Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner live in Brentwood too. And Matt Damon and his family just moved close the Garner-Afflecks as well. Basically, Brentwood is going to be Totally 1990s Nostalgia. As for Chris being “very understanding” of Goop’s reasons to move to LA… we’ll see. Honestly, though, Chris might not even be the biggest problem. How will Dame Gwyneth even survive amongst the California peasantry? She’s been gone for too long. There will need to be several Goop-letters devoted to how fat all of the LA peasants have gotten in Goop’s absence.

Funnily enough, I totally disagree. I think she looks great – very natural. She actually dares to dine out without make-up on. She doesn’t look in the least bit harsh!

She’s used to being with the upper crust in England and can’t stand the Calfornina nevo rich. Lots of beautiful home in California with beautiful interiors but there are just as many 30 million dollar godawful McMansions that are so tacky inside and out. She is an elegant woman. She wants an elegant life. Donnie Baliduchi described Beverly Hills High as a cake walk compared to it’s description in the book Less Than Zero and if you’ve read it you can’t imagine people worse than that. Believe me she is trashing things she has actually seen. She wants to protect t her kids from all the dangers of those Hollywood people. I’m sure she’s figured it out. She is a very smart woman who was a wild child when she was young.

Gwynie looks stunning as usual looks like changing her diet and actually exercising and not smoking really set back the clock for her.
I felt so sad for her when she said her father’s death gave her the opportunity to have a life(health-wise and her family)that she otherwise never would have had.

My thoughts, too. She spent the kids’ entire young childhoods in the U.K., it seems fair to switch to her home turf.
She doesn’t bug me as much as she seems to bug most people. And she seems relatively drama-free compared to some of her peers, like Halle Berry or Demi Moore.
