This is just a nice, sweet, funny story to prove that not every celebrity is a rage monster, a crack monster, a lying douchebag, a friend of Xenu or a narcissistic POS. When some random stranger chanced upon Oscar winner Tom Hanks at a restaurant, the random dude asked Tom to pose for a series of photos. The dude had an idea of what kind of pics he wanted – he wanted to steal Tom’s glasses and pretend to be passed out drunk. The amazing part is that Tom happily obliged. These are the photos from that impromptu photo shoot.
Basically, if you ever run into Tom Hanks in a bar or restaurant, you should totally pester him for a photo, and you should begin to prepare your “hook” right now. Because chances are, Tom Hanks will say yes and then we’ll have even more magic. Tom Hanks is the best!
By the way, did you know that Tom Hanks is on Twitter? I did not know that before today. Here’s his Twitter feed – he finishes every tweet with “Hanx”. Which is cracking me up more than it should.

I hate drunk pictures but this is cute because Hanks is in part a comedian and this is just a funny setup. I know from personal experience being a celebrity takes a lot out of you. People always want something from you. Hanks is a good sport to do this. He obviously cares about his fans and takes it all in stride with a good sense of humor.

I’m in a minority of one, but I believe cheaters can be reformed. My marriage is example #1.

To be fair, he married his first wife when he was 22. That was AFTER she had given birth to Colin. They were very young and the odds were against them to start with.

I have loved Tom Hanks since Bosom Buddies (I’m guessing at least half of you have no idea what that is) I always hear stories about him being a genuinely nice guy and these pics seem to back that up.

I LOVED Bosom Buddies. I was so young when it was on, but loved it. Wasn’t Billy Joel’s “My Life” used for the opening credits? I can’t believe I remember that.

That is still one of my nostalgic favorites because I watched Bosom Buddiees in syndication. Being around kindergarten aged i missed most of the jokes. Should try again!

I remember him on “Taxi” when he was one of the stoner Harvard students who got Reverend Jim hooked on drugs. I always liked him, but I’d never have guessed he’d become such a huge star. And for as long as I’ve been following celebrity gossip, I’ve rarely heard anything bad about him. He seems like a genuinely good guy. Love these pictures!

“Hanx” filmed a movie in my hometown years ago and he was seen on his days off shopping at local stores with his family and always giving autographs and pictures. What a class act.

Got to love this man! How could you not feel the love for someone that’s this big a star, and still takes the time out for some fan appreciation? This young guy will hold this as a memory for the next 20 years. Thrilling! Could you imagine the ‘k-stew’s’ of the world being this generous with a fan? Not in you life.
Bill Murray is another one… I remember reading a few months ago about some kid that was making a movie for high school, and he hit up Murray to be in it — and Bill Murray did it!! It was the coolest thing ever. It restores my faith in the world just a bit, when I see guys like this that seem to never forget, and never stop appreciating, that it’s the fans that put them where they are.

Tom clearly has a great sense of humor.I remember Tom being interviewed for T.V. on the street and a movie goer saw him and recognized who he was so he walked right up to him and asked for his money back for the movie Larry Crown because he said it was terrible so guess what!Tom reached into his pocked,pulled out 10 bucks and gave it to him.

I love Tom Hanks. He is one of the few exceptions I make for being a cheater. He and Rita seem to enjoy a great marriage.

Awwww, I love Tom Hanks! Do you guys remember a few years ago when he was in Rome filming Angels and Demons? The filming wound up interferring with a bridal party trying to get to the church, so Tom did the sweetest thing to make it up to the bride and personally escorted her to the church. The bridal party was so touched and so excited and they all said that his gesture just made the day perfect. With all the egos in Hollywood and the b.s. attitudes like, “don’t you dare look the celebrity directly in the eye, or speak to them”, can you imagine too many other stars doing something this cool? His whole family is so down to earth though. I went to the University of Illinois, where his brother is a professor, and I often worked in the same lab with him. You would never know who he was related to, and when Tom and his family were in town to visit, they put on no airs and were so nice. My best friend from college has lived in L.A. for the past 12 years and works in the entertainment industry and she said that out of the literally hundreds of celebs that she has met over the years, Tom Hanks is by far the nicest star she’s ever met!
