Angelina Jolie hates that her daughters listen to old-school Madonna

Angelina Jolie and Madonna have a long-standing feud. Allegedly. Well, I believe they do. I think back in 2005-06, Madonna decided that she was going to beat Angelina at her own game, and tried to hijack various pieces of Jolie’s life and work (the foreign adoptions, the humanitarian work). The problem was that Madonna was just trying on a persona, and as such, she did it in a really half-assed way, and Angelina basically said that and then tried to take it back. Madonna later said that of course she wasn’t copying Angelina, etc. But there’s been iciness between the two women for the better part of six or seven years. And now that feud is boiling over… because Angelina’s daughters like to listen to old-school Madge.

A long-simmer feud between Angelina Jolie and Madonna has hit Jolie where it hurts – at home! Angelina’s daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne can’t get enough of the Material Girl’s tunes, sources say, and it’s got Angelina singing the blues.

“It’s no secret that Angie has never been a fan of Madonna’s acting, but her music really makes her cringe,” a source tells The Enquirer. “Growing up, Angie was more of a punk rocker and into new wave. Madonna’s bubble-gum pop sound and voice never appealed to her. To this day, Angie won’t listen to Madonna, but now she has to grin and bear it as her daughters blare Madonna classics.”

“Angie hopes this Madonna thing is just a phase her girls are going through because she’s about to snap… listening to Madonna’s music is like nails on a chalkboard for Angie.”

[From The Enquirer, print edition]

The Enquirer claims that the girls basically only like The Immaculate Collection, not the new stuff, and Angelina feels like punching a gerbil of doom whenever she hears “Like a Virgin”. This kind of story isn’t new for The Enquirer – back in July, they claimed that Pax and Zahara both love listening to Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake” – so much so that Angelina had to ban Rihanna’s music from the house. My question is: who brought The Immaculate Collection into the house? Or are the kids allowed to download whatever music they want? No, right? I don’t know anything about kids. My point: Brad Pitt is obviously in cohoots with Empress Zahara to coordinate a Sound of Music-style Jolie-Pitt-children showcase in which they cover Madonna songs and then escape the Nazis through the mountains. Or at least that’s how Z explained it to her dad. And Brad was like, “Sure, sweetheart. Whatever you want.”

Yea I don’t get it. The girls are at the oldest what 8? Why is your kid listening to “Like a Virgin”. I think this is probably a non-story lol.
IDK how it is in other people’s households, but mine was pretty much secular music free (or just “oldies but goodies”) until I hit middle school and bought my own stereo.

Of course my parents aided that effort by not getting cable until 2009. Ohhh fitting in was lovely in the new millenium =(

older siblings can really broaden music tastes. But somehow I can’t picture Pax or Maddox being into Madonna.

Lol, reminded me of my lil Sisters Party at the Catholic church when she completed her classes for her first holy communion. It was in the Nun’s lounge of the Catholic school. I think every adult looked @ Father Keith blushingly when Like a Virgin came on & the kids cranked it up. Even more so when our new young Priest sang along w/ the kids. In my eyes Father was cool, but then again I was 19 & used to stuffy old Priests. Yes, love Madonna’s vintage music..EVERYTHING Madonna is better vintage!

That last picture of La Jolie…God, it really does remind you why she is widely considered one of the most beautiful women in the world.

Also, I am pretty sure Angelina doesn’t care about Madonna. Sorry, Madge.

    Seriously give it a rest.

I mean Angie and Brads daughters are 7,6 and 4.

How would children that young listen to music without parental involvement. I think these stories really want some drama with Angie and Madonna. Angie doesn’t talk bad about anyone. EVER.. yet the media has the need to paint her as someone always in conflict with other women. Rihanna and now Madonna.

    Boring..

If this is true (probably isn’t, but wouldn’t it be fun?), I am team Angelina on this. Madonna was very talented (still is, but the Demi Moore antics are wearing a bit thin), but ITA she “tried on” Angelina’s humanitarian personality like it was a fad.

Also, WTF… “Gerbil of Doom”?! I can’t stop laughing at that one. Where did it come from?

She used to cut herself… And probablynshe grew out of it, but in its place got a love fot tattoos. I would say tattoos are healthier and less dangerous that cutting, doing it in a clean professional place.

    • Janet says:

I think she’s drop-dead gorgeous but I agree with you about the tattoos. I loathe them on anybody. And what happens to them when you get old? People who get tattoos when they are young never take into account that your skin loses elasticity when you get older. I can’t think of anything more gross than old wrinkly tattoos you have to stretch out to read.

The first picture. UNF. She is flawless.

I grew up lisening to Prince and Rick James so Madonna is PG-13 to me.

Angie gives zero f*cks about Madonna. The Enquirer tried it.

Yes! …nobody’s perfect (including Angie), but the media have been trying for over a well over a decade to turn Angie into this rude bitch fighting girl/woman. It’s never going to happen because all those “reported” “fights” are lies. She (along w/ Brad, Johnny D & Tom C) is so kind & patient with fans and signs and takes pictures tirelessly (even pregnant in heels!) at each appearance and always has positive things to say about her peers. Madonna rudely rejects flowers and snarks about Elton et al. Gwyneth trashes the USA and everybody else (in a charming goopy way- ha!). The rude list goes on & on and celebs, like everybody, have the right to be rude and b*tch fight. There is simply no evidence that makes Angie one of those rude celebs- EVER. In fact, I think it gets some of these “stars” are angry that she won’t engage into a war of words- ignoring such types is the biggest offense to them! A few years back when a reporter read her the hate that Roseann B spewed against her, Angie simply said, “she has a right to an opinion.” Angie for the win!

Whenever Brad and Angelina are not in the news, and this summer, they have been absolutely “stealth”, tabloids have to find some “Angelina is a bitch to whoever” story to get hits. Another in the women hate women and we hate those women stories tabloids create.

I wouldn`t like it either. Madonna`s old school voice reminds me of a sucky ten year old. I`d just explain that this is ok for dancing and doing housework and stuff, but it`s not like actual art you sit down and listen to.

Yeah, I loved Madonna a lot when I was younger.. that is until I discovered that she was a huge ass music thief. (Oh, for those of you who don’t believe me, check this out: http://www.aishamusic.com/lawsuit_many_artists_madonna_stole_from.htm)

Sigh… not that her modern music is good. “Die Another Day” and “Give Me All Ur Lurve” and much more are really, really bad songs. Not that she should still be singing and be in her forever Material Girl bubble, now that she’s like, 60? Not to mention the Pussy Riot fiasco.

Please Maggie. Do us all a favor and go away. Just go away already.

Oh, and about Ange Vs Mdna? The media is trying to make Angelina look bad again. Nothing new here. Wait until Ange criticizes Rhianna for her recent stunt at the Euroclub and suddenly Angelina is “TOO OLD” to understand that poor Rhianna was just “blowing some steam off” and that since she’s Rhianna she can do what the eff she wants. Jesus, even Olympic athletes got punished for that kind of bratty behavior. If she’d even bother anyway.
