Did Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman split because of his wandering eye?

Does anyone else watch It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia? It’s not one of my can’t-miss favorites or anything, but it’s funnier than most of the network comedies on TV right now, and Danny DeVito is great on the show – he plays the crazy, perverted criminal patriarch to a band of losers. I always thought that DeVito’s casting on the show was kind of genius – even though Danny has played a lot of losers and malcontents in his career, most people have the warm-fuzzies for him whenever they see him, and the IASIP character subverts that. Anyway, it turns out that Danny might actually be kind of sleazy in real life. Following the announcement that Danny and his wife of 30 years, Rhea Perlman, were separating, Radar claims that Danny’s had a wandering eye for YEARS. Gross.

Is nothing sacred? Danny DeVito’s shocking split from wife Rhea Perlman was due to his wandering eye, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star’s wife of 30-years was finally fed up with the 67-year-old actor’s flirty and inappropriate ways and gave him the boot.

In fact, things have been bad between the pair for over 10-years with the marriage hanging by a thread.

“He may not appear to be a ladies’ man, but Danny certainly gets a lot of female attention,” a source close to the family told RadarOnline.com. “Danny can be quite the flirt and because of his powerful status in Hollywood, he’s not ashamed to abuse his position and chat-up young, aspiring woman looking to make it in the industry. Despite his reputation as a lovable, funny guy in movies and on TV, Danny’s actually quite the womanizer. And, like a lot of red-blooded males, if he sees an attractive girl in a coffee shop or walking down the street, he will give her the eye.”

“After years of turning a blind eye to it, Rhea finally snapped. She had enough of his bad-boy behavior and wanted an end to their marriage. The break-up has been on the cards for a long time, probably over 10 years, because they haven’t been happy for a long, long time,” the source revealed.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Danny and Rhea announced Monday that they have separated after 30-years together.

The pair married in 1982 and have three kids: Lucy Chet, Grace Fan and Jacob Daniel.

Danny and Rhea worked together on the classic sitcom Taxi from 1978-1983 and later appeared onscreen in 1996’s Matilda. In 1992, they founded Jersey Films. Their production company was responsible for a number of successful movies, including Pulp Fiction, Garden State, Erin Brockovich and Freedom Writers.

So, now you know. Danny DeVito still gets side-action from lots of women. Is it gross because he’s married or because he’s Danny DeVito? Or both? Well, I’m not ready to bury true love yet. Danny and Rhea weren’t one of my “couples that can never break up”. My Couples That Can Never Breakup include Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson, Emma Thompson & Greg Wise, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, and Kevin Bacon & Kyra Sedgwick. I will seriously LOSE IT if Emma and Greg ever split up, or if I suddenly find out that one of them is a cheater.

  2. Nev says:

    don’t cheat!!!!

  3. brin says:

Yeah…Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick better never break up, they are first on my “no break up” list.

  4. Green_Eyes says:

I admit I was a bit confused yesterday. I remember years ago they separated. I never realized they got back together. Not saying they actually divorced, but had split. It was all over and was years ago…. He had a wandering eye then, but think Rhea was seeing someone else after they separated back them. Can’t believe no one remembers??

  5. Zimmer says:

I hate that they’re breaking up, but why I am I not surprised he has a wandering eye? So many men do………

  6. Cathy says:

Yuck I wouldn’t boink him if he had a 10 inch wee wee. He’s just gross.

  7. fabgrrl says:

Danny, I say this with love, you aren’t going to do any better than Rhea Perlman.

  8. Sam says:

I believe this. Personally, after 30 years, it seems reasonable that most couples are fairly familar with each other and know about the issues. A split after this long suggests one of two things: 1.) either some major event or intrusion, like a third party, or 2.) longstanding problems that one party tried to deal with/ignore/hide and just couldn’t anymore. Rhea just probably reached the end of her rope.

  9. Saphana says:

i think this is not a couple people are really invested in, so good for them, it wont be long in the news.

cheating is always wrong, you cant justify betraying your close ones.

to me it doesnt matter how long the relationship is, if my partner cheats im out. but in this case because its soooo long (over forty years) im just thinking that something more must have happened. i dont think he suddenly started cheating and if you put up with that for years after years after years it just seems kind of odd to pull the plug.
maybe she just finally found the courage to do it.

  10. Obvious says:

This is just so sad. They generally stay out of the limelight and out of our minds. i don’t care if one of them cheated-the end of any marriage-much less a 30 years marriage is very sad. i hope both of them find the happiness they truly deserve.

  11. Starlight says:

I couldn’t believe his eyes would still wonder.

  12. Tiffany27 says:

    Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Colin Firth and his wife Livia
    Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
If these couples split then I will make a life decision to NEVER marry.

  13. haha says:

with al due respect…wondering eye to where??He can only look form the breast down. She knew that, right?

  14. Feebee says:

Wow, married for 30, together for 40. I hate the way even now married couples togetherness is only counted after the I dos.

It always boggles my mind when couples together this long call it quits when in reality there are probably a myriad of valid reasons.

  15. shannon says:

I absolutely LOVE ‘It’s Always Sunny …’ as does almost everyone I know, from my 17-year-old son and all his friends to one of my best (and most mature) friends, who is 52. When I read about the split, I wondered if it might have something to do with his suddenly “hip again” status going to his head in terms of … well, cheating or trying to cheat. Sad. Still love the show, but Rhea, do what you gotta do girl!

    • victoria says:

I couldn’t stop thinking if his character on the show was his real life portrayal? If it is there is something seriously wrong with him, he can’t do better so good for her!

  16. k says:

I think he also has an alcohol abuse problem. I wonder if that was a contributing factor.

  17. jc126 says:

This split really bums me out.

I like Kevin Bacon, but am neutral on Kyra Sedgwick. It wouldn’t shock me if he had affairs on her. Don’t know why I think that, but I do.

    • bns says:

I wouldn’t be surprised either. I don’t see them lasting forever.

    • thinkaboutit says:

She works out at the same place as me. She’s soo brittle and twitchy and neurotic/nervous acting. I can’t imagine “forever” with someone with that kind of energy.

  18. Reece says:

I’m surprisingly not surprised. I always thought he goes to things like Coachella a lot for someone older and with a wife who isn’t with him. Then I thought ok I’m just being mean, the man can’t go enjoy the music? But yeah..

  19. lucy2 says:

It’s sad, they’ve been together so long.

I love Sunny and think Danny is hilarious on it, but picturing him as a womanizer…ew.

  20. Stacia says:

Really?? This guy gets side action from who…his hand? Can’t imagine any woman wanting to be with this old munchkin. And at his age you’d think he’d want to hold on to his marriage and wife.

  21. Dirtnap says:

I interviewed Rhea for a TV mag I worked at back in the day. It was a telephone interview, and all I remember from that experience was hanging up the phone and thinking, “Well, SOMEONE didn’t want to be interviewed today.” Whoo, girl was cranky. Maybe it stemmed in part because of her marriage problems. Maybe I’ll forgive her a little now.

  22. MaryLou says:

Drunk and disorderly hangs out with some notorious risk-taking, independent and selfishly indulgent dudes.. acts unpleasant and displays crude manners ..tried some scandalous stuff of which is not appropriate for their children to be burdened by, so if he is getting meaner and more crude in his old age.. of course she’s had enough..

  23. Debra says:

So just tell me this. Based on all the public photographs of the two of them standing together..how is it that she is said to be 5’1″ and he is 5″0″.
I havent found one single picture that indicates that is true. Not a fan of any man under 5’10”

  24. GoodCapon says:

I only realized now that they also played husband-and-wife in Matilda (loooved the film, loved the book too)

    • EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Great movie. Guilty pleasure when it’s on ABC Family or TBS..which is like all the time lol

    • Mary says:

Me too! My 14 year old sister said something the other day that reminded me of the movie and I asked her if that’s where she got it. She responded by saying “Matilda? What’s that?” I thought she was just trying to be funny, but no, she has never seen that movie! Like you, I like to watch it everytime it’s on ABC Fam. Todays youth is missing out. 🙂

  25. Happy21 says:

This saddens me. They’ve been together SO long. If he’s had a wandering eye for years then I wonder why she’s put up with it this long.

I love It’s Always Sunny. Just started watching it. So wrong but so damned funny. DeVito is epic!

  26. holly hobby says:

This is sad but I’m not surprised. After all this guy was Michael Douglas’ roommate back in the day. We all know how MD turned out before he met CZJ.

Yes I do remember the famous Limoncello interview where he was totally sloshed. So it can be a factor of things to make her up and leave.

  27. A says:

While I usually don’t buy anything Radar publishes (they are worse than US Weekly and on the same level as Star in my opinion), I buy this…I’ve heard the rumors before about his dicking around. My guess is maybe she was okay with it to an extent, but he crossed the line somewhere.

    • jk says:

The kids are raised and gone. She put upn with his BS for more than 30 years and she said….hmmmmm I have lots of money, I am healthy, I am miserable in this marriage so why the hell am I here?
      >If Danny thinks these woman he is balling want him for his good looks and his fabulous sex life he is out of his mind, it is called golddigger time. Good luck Danny because you blew a good woman out the door with your cheating and you have lost a long time fan here.

  28. skuddles says:

Ugh, another wandering dong divorce. Could Danny be stupid enough to believe any of these women are actually attracted to him? He blew a 30 year marriage for a bit of the strange, with women who undoubtedly laugh about him behind his back. WHAT a dumbass.

  29. Sweet Dee says:

I LOVE Always Sunny! When you really get down to it, it’s some of the best comedic acting and writing on TV right now. Season premiere this Thursday! Yay!

As for Danny and Rhea, I always appreciated that they were out of the limelight. It’s really sad when a long marriage ends like that, but I heard they were super-religious and he has been distancing himself from that. Religious fighting 40 years in can be quite abrupt and heartbreaking for the party who hasn’t changed their mind.

  30. KellyinSeattle says:

Throw Mama From The Train; one of my favorite comedies.

  31. msw says:

    I blame Arnold Schwarzenegger.
But, DeVito’s dirty old man laugh was way too real, always. Shudder.

  32. Gigohead says:

Blame those lemonchellos he’s always buzzed on.
