Jessica Simpson finally announces her second pregnancy on Christmas day

Well, Jessica Simpson has confirmed what we’ve all known for a month! She’s pregnant with her second child just seven months after giving birth to little Maxwell Drew. Jessica tweeted the above photo with the message “Merry Christmas from my family to yours!” – and the photo featured little Maxi with the message “Big Sis”. It’s cute, I guess. Remember how Jessica announced her pregnancy on Halloween 2011? She tweeted a photo of herself in her (bump-tastic) mummy costume and “confirmed” that she was going to be a “mummy”. I feel like this is Jessica’s way of being clever. Is it actually clever? Or is it just… cloying? Eh.

It’s official: the stork is once again headed to Jessica Simpson‘s house!

Just seven months after the singer and actress delivered daughter Maxwell Drew, Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson are expecting their second child, the couple announced via Twitter Christmas Day.

Amid growing pregnancy speculation online, the Fashion Star mentor, 32, shared a photo of her baby girl wearing holiday pajamas and smiling in the sand atop the words, “BIG SIS.”

“Merry Christmas from my family to yours!” Simpson writes.

Recently, Simpson has been spotted around Los Angeles in loose-fitting clothing. She also appeared, in a figure-hugging black dress, at best friend Cacee Cobb‘s recent wedding to Donald Faison, where she served as maid of honor.

Simpson also had been touting her recent post-pregnancy weight loss of 60 lbs. after starring in commercials for Weight Watchers and working out with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak.

[From People]

For now, Weight Watchers is being nice about it. Just after Jessica tweeted the photo, WW tweeted, “Congrats to Jessica Simpson, Eric and big-sister-to-be Maxwell! Your WW family is so thrilled for you. What an amazing year you’ve had!” After a month of anger and betrayal, WW must feel like they’ve been handed lemons, so it’s best to make farty lemonade. They will stand by Jessica for now, they will run her new WW commercials, and then they will wash their hands of Jessica Simpson. Know when to fold ‘em, Weight Watchers.

Anyway, congrats to Jessica, Eric & Maxi! I’m actually looking forward to this second pregnancy!

Eh, her thunder was already stolen; maybe this was the way she wanted to announce it in the first place?

    • BeesKnees says:

If I remember correctly, it was already being speculated that she was pregnant last time, before she tweeted the mummy picture.

      • Emma says:

Yea but she had already put on like twenty kilos when she first announced… she had a big tummy…. it wasnt a surprise!

  2. Agnes says:

Congrats to them! (I love Jessica pregnant, so help me god…)

    • Camille says:

I hate when Jessica is pregnant because it lasts forever, FOREVER. It seems like years come and go before she finally give birth.

BTW Weight Watchers must be really pissed. They should hire Xtina – she is fat and hasbeen so it would be perfect choice.

  3. Tammy says:

Adorable baby! And congratulations to Jessica.

    • Becky1 says:

I’m not a Jessica Simpson fan, but I think the pic is actually a really cute way of announcing her pregnancy. Her little girl is absolutely adorable.

  4. MrsBPitt says:

I’ll be honest…I didn’t think Eric Johnson would be around this long. I got the feeling JS had big-time baby fever before she had Maxwell, but I figured once she had the baby she would dump him…Well played Eric, well played! Double the child support when this relationship goes south!

  5. lassie says:

If she thinks the weight was difficult to lose after the 1st pregnancy, wait until after this one.

I think getting and being knocked up is something she can excel at. And realistically, she can afford it, so why not have as many babies as possible?

    • GoodCapon says:

As long as they can take good care of their baby (and the next one), then all is good.

I think she revels in being a mother. She wears pregnancy well.

  6. Anonymous says:

    1) Can you use ww while pregnant?
    2) does someone who is about 25 lbs overweights need to put on an extra 25 lbs when pregnant or can they keep the weight steady?

    • Eleonor says:

Honestly I don’t know, I have never been pregnant, but I know women with health problems who have to pay a lot of attention to their pregnancy diet, so I think it’s possible.

    • Pharce says:

Overweight women should gain less. It’s a balancing act.

    • Hautie says:

Weight watchers is not about starving yourself thin. It is about making better choices about what you eat.

And making it a life style decision.

      Exercising and eating better.

And if Jessica had any sense at all… she would be camped out in her local Weight Watchers office and plan out her pregnancy with them. So in the end she may only have to loose 15 pounds.

Versus the 70 she had to loose this time.

Plus the girl can afford to have a full time chef in her home! Planning and making her meals. She has no excuse for eating crazy this time.

And I bet Weight Watchers would be thrilled if she did just that. Probably enough to write her another check!

      • bluhare says:

Hautie, that’s brilliant. What a way for Weight Watchers to capitalize on the “don’t need to gain any more weight than necessary” pregnancy crowd.

      • mel2 says:

Totally agree. I hope she thinks twice about her late night cravings.

    • MG says:

I gained 8lbs while pregnant and my doc was happy with that.

    • the original bellaluna says:

I lost 57 pounds while pregnant with my second (17 lbs in 3 days – hospitalised for 7 days) and third (it was 20-hour a day “morning sickness” and incredibly awful, for both of my last two pregnancies) and by the end, I’d broken even, barely just, or still came in less. (My doc, with my daughter, kept saying to me – at my WEEKLY appointments, due to being so sick – kept saying “You’re going the wrong way!” He was SO HAPPY that, at 7 months along, I’d managed to not lose weight.)

      So there you go.

    • JenD says:

WW released a statement saying Jessica will not be on the program during her pregnancy.

    • Becky1 says:

If you’re overweight they say you should gain between 15-25 pounds while pregnant. If you’re of average weight the recommendation is 25-35 pounds (although it seems like most of the women I know have gained 35-40 pounds even though they tried to be really careful with their diets).

  7. neelyo says:

Congrats to Jessica on her next magazine cover!

  8. RocketMerry says:

Aww, I think it’s sweet that she announces her pregnancies like this… although, I am reminded of the last episode of Grey’s Anatomy, for some reason. Maybe she was watching it when she got the idea?

    • Fabgrrl says:

Yes, you can do Weight Watchers while pregnant. They push the “healthy eating” lifestyle over pure weight loss, so I believe they have you eat the same things, just more of them. Overweight women are usually told to gain less weight while pregnant, 15 pounds, instead of 25. But is Jessica *really* overweight? Sure, by Hollywood standards she is, and she doesn’t do herself any favors the way she dresses. But she is short and well endowed, so I don’t think she actually has a weight problem.

    • Miss M says:

When I saw her tweet, I thought: So similar to Grey’s anatomy…

Her little girl is adorable. Congrats to the family.

  9. 'sup? says:

    Rolling my eyes…god for her…NEXT

  10. Dawn says:

Well good for her, she can do what she loves best now and that is eat! And eat she will. She will never dump Eric, he won’t let her now and let’s face it, he has no other job than keeping Jessica happy and p.g., so she can eat.

  11. smartyparty says:

Am I the only person who does not feel the need to hate on her weight, eating choices, partner, clothing, and method of announcing her pregnancy? Jeeeeez what did this woman ever do to deserve such unkind scrutiny. She lost SIXTY pounds, I think she fulfilled her WW endorsement deal. She has a loving partner. She is bringing a new life into this world, and obviously adores her first child. What is wrong with all these people who take such pleasure in tearing her apart? Jealousy.

    • bluhare says:

      No. Boredom.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Ummm…you must have stumbled onto the wrong site, smartyparty, this is celeBITCHY…you know, where we can joke around and be bitchin on celebs…jeez…

    • tifygodess24 says:

Why is it the minute some says anything negative it has to be jealousy ? I am so tired of that being the go to as well as when people say ” oh their just hating because their jealous” ……please .

      • Luxe says:

It’s the token response to any critique. I actually like Jessica (not so much her music, but I like her fashion) and she’s less obnoxious than most celebs.

  12. ronnie says:

To be honest I haven’t seen ONE of her commercials on TV. I live in TX and I’ve just seen Jennifer Hudson. I think WW lost a ton of money here.

    • JenD says:

I saw a new one with her in it sometime over the Christmas weekend, but it barely featured Jessica in it. Jennifer H had more face time in that commercial.

    • the original bellaluna says:

Oh, I have to change the channel when J-Hud or Mariah come on screeching about their weight loss.

    • Luxe says:

I’ve seen two: the first was when she had just given birth and was about to start the program. The second aired a few mins ago, and honestly, it looked like she wore a baggy flannel shirt and sort of blended into the ad with other people. It was nothing like JHud’s.

  13. mel2 says:

When is she due? God help us that it will seem like a year b4 she has this baby!

  14. lena80 says:

I think that’s a cute way to announce the pregnancy. And F**k weight watchers if they are upset over her being pregnant. Who are they to say what she should or should not do with her body? I doubt her contract stated anything about not getting pregnant.

  15. mava says:

Why doesn’t she just stay on Weight Watchers while pregnant? Think of all the new customers they could get from it. Women who are pregnant but don’t want to go the way of Jessica’s first pregnancy. I haven’t had a baby, but I would think it is very important to expecting moms to keep their babies healthy in the womb and that would mean eating very healthy themselves. I don’t see why this should end her contract.

    • Jayna says:

Jessica just appeared on a TV ad for Weight Watchers showing off her weight loss and announcing her pregnancy and stating she looks forward to using WW to stay healthy during this pregnancy or something like that.

  16. Ellen Smith says:

Well, that clears up whether she was immersed in reading the classics…

  17. anon says:

WW has no intention of folding on Jessica. I keep saying that & will continue to say it regardless of the hate & ridicule. IT’s a Win Win for both. Sorry Peeps & CB WW is in for the long haul. Wether you like it or not WW is doing just fine in there finacials & some of that is because of Jessica.. Best last QTR they have had in a very long time but of course lets look past that right.. Haters keep bashing & Jessica keeps thriving.. Gotta love it.. Given a new home new gym new recording studio less chance of paps all over her & manipulating some pics as have been done in past. Lets all forget she actually lost close to 60 lbs..& was very successful.. what more do you want.. WW is not going anywhere.. Stop the nonsense & Happy New Year. or Bah humbug what ever suits your fancy. 🙂

  18. starsh says:

Breeding, breeding, breeding. That’s all she Can do. Sigh.

  19. Luxe says:

    1.Little Maxwell is a cutie.

2.I don’t think WW can be upset that she got pregnant, but this has to put a hitch in their ad campaigns. With the way Jessica ate during the first pregnancy, if she does that again, then it seems like her endorsement would be worthless. Sure she lost the weight, but if she can’t even stick with the healthy eating (for health not weight loss), then WW didn’t help her with a lifestyle change. At least that’s how it seems to me.

  20. skuddles says:

Oh boy, here we go again. It’s lovely she’s preggers again really but not looking forward to the non-stop, endless, blow by blow yak about her pregnancy again. Not to mention all the speculation about her weight. Hopefully she’ll keep things more private and low key this time around.

  21. lucy2 says:

Congrats, and that’s a cute way to announce it.
I wonder if there was a pregnancy clause that then terminates her contract? Otherwise they might just wait for her to try again after this baby is born.

  22. vvy says:

    Wow,.,.that is one cute baby!

  23. Jub-Jub says:

    Such a beautiful baby!

  24. Joanna says:

    that baby is so cute!

  25. anon says:

she really is no different then any other celeb out there talking about there pregnancy or there children since birth. We need to be fair here to her.. some of this talk is just plain nonsense..

Hillary, Vanessa Kirstin C have you looked at there twiiter.. Jess is far less saying anything really.. There not as high profile as Jess but they sure try There are some very beautiful pics today of Jessica & Eric on the beach in Hawaii.. She is stunning with no makeup but of course few want to see the goods one of Jessica & her natural beauty healthy & happy & looking awesome.. Unfortunatley can’t pots links here but seriously people look for them & have a good look she looks great

  26. Veronica Lodge says:

I love Jessica. Really, she does what every prego lady does…goes from the margaritas to the guacamole. No shame! She is on my list of potential BFFs. She runs an empire of well made affordable shoes and handbags (looking at you, Kardashians – cheap-cheap-cheap), is really easy to relate to, while going through so many life changing events. I think she is a class act!

  27. t says:

I think you got it right yesterday, Kaiser. Weight Watchers is publicly standing by her for now by running the ads they shot before the pregnancy announcement, but have washed their hands of her privately.

That way both sides get to avoid public embarrassment by declaring there’s a weight loss victory under her baggy flannel shirt.

And so what if Jessica says she will be back on WW after birthing the pregnancy clause of her contract. That doesn’t mean WW is going to welcome her back as a spokesperson. Anybody can be on WW as a paying customer…Jessica Simpson included.

  28. Fran says:

2 kids under 18 months? holy shit.
