Shakira finally gave birth to her first child, a baby boy, named Milan Pique Mebarak with father Gerard Pique yesterday. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this announcement since Pique tweeted a fake birth announcement as a joke about a month ago — a move that seemed like bad juju at best. Luckily, everything turned out for the best though since the real deal happened yesterday. Shakira alluded to the happy news on Twitter before reportedly having an induced delivery. It really felt like she was pregnant forever, right?
Shakira is a new mom!
The singer and her man, footballer Gerard Pique, welcomed their first child, a son, today, according to People en Español. The wee lad’s name? Milan!
“I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak,” she tweeted this morning, in both English and Spanish, about the impending birth.
More news as we get it, but we’re wishing the best to the happy family!

Milan is a pretty cute name. I’m not entirely familiar with Spanish culture, but they may have named the baby after the Duchy of Milan, which was once under Spanish rule centuries ago. Oh wait — I just checked Shakira’s website, which states that Milan “means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.” Whatever the reason for the name, congrats to Shakira and Gerard!

Well, I guess it depends on how your mind works. When I hear Milan as a name, I automatically think of Milan Kundera, one of my favorite authors.
And I know some hardcore football fans who link it to Milan Baros, one of Liverpool former players.

Yay…love Shaki!! This may be vain but one of the reasons why I’m very glad I’m not having kids is not having my face explode. I never noticed until everyone around me started having kids but everything just enlarges so much! Especially your nose and it really ages people.

I never believed the Beyoncé pillow conspiracy, but that’s a reason why I could imagine her (or someone in her position) doing that. Having kids kind of ruined Britney’s looks, face as well as midsection.

Congrats to Shakira! I hope she is really happy. But her and Pique… Im sorry, but the vibe I get from them are mother and son lol. There are even some suspiciously looking gayish photos of him, with him and another footballer (Soccer player), getting really close on a car… But whats with the Barcelona players? Almost all of them have older women as girlfriends! Its weird!
