Duchess Kate wasn’t the only royal woman out and about this weekend. Poor Princess Charlene was also photographed extensively during the ATP Monte Carlo Masters. Charlene and Prince Albert watched tennis all weekend and they were photographed in the royal box looking miserable as Novak Djokovic beat Rafa Nadal. My guess is that Charlene hasn’t let Albert even look at her royal box in more than a year. Yes, this summer they will have been married for two years. Two years and no pregnancy announcement. Which is no big deal with a normal couple, but when it’s this couple? When Charlene looks so miserable and she tried to escape just before the wedding and she looks kind of drugged out? The whole “she hasn’t gotten pregnant” thing is a much bigger deal.
Meanwhile, I never got around to verifying this – Albert’s nephew (and son of Princess Caroline) Andrea Casiraghi is a new father. Andrea and Tatiana Santo Domingo announced their engagement last year, along with the announcement that they were expecting their first child together. Tatiana gave birth to a boy in March, but Tatiana and Andrea still aren’t married. According to People Magazine, that doesn’t matter though? People says that the little boy is now the third in line to the throne, but if Monaco is accepting children born out of wedlock, then how are Albert’s “illegitimate” children not heirs to the throne as well?

Hubby and I both remarked how somber she was yesterday at the final. Also, it appears that she has had more plastic surgery as her face is very frozen. IMO, she was really beautiful before so I don’t understand this “transformation” she has been put through.

Can’t have a baby if your not having sex. Wonder how much longer she will go on for? Albert has two or three children out of wedlock so we know it isn’t him. I don’t believe the new baby is in the line for the throne at all you have to be married etc and if they won’t add Alberts and he is the King the wont add his nephews.

Being a tennis fan I watched the match yesterday.
Whenever they showed the two of them, I could sense the iciness through my TV screen. Several times they showed him leaning over to talk to her and she just looked straight ahead and didn’t respond. Not even a smile on her face.
There is/was absolutely no warmth between them whatsoever.
Their body language says it all!! Wow! They both look so miserable. Her getting pregnant is the last thing she needs.
The body language reminds me of princess Diana and Charles last few years of marriage. The unspoken words of, “I’m really over this!”
I think children can be “legitimized” if the parents marry. I imagine if the engagement was broken off the story would change.
As for Albert and the Prisone..err Princess. It doesnt happen for everyone right away, however I really don’t think these two are going to be able to stand each other long enough to get pregnant the usual way. I think alternative methods might be advisable to keep them both sane.

That they are getting married makes a difference. Since Albert didn’t marry the mother(s?) of his illegitimate children, they are not eligible for the throne. Since Andrea Casiraghi is marrying his baby mama, they can have the baby made “legitimate”

Wonder why they didn’t rush and get married before baby arrived-just to be sure? Did you know that Caroline was knocked up with Alexandra when she and the Prince of Hanover were married. Heirs not an issue, though; he has umpteen sons by his first wife.
The baby will be legitimized after they get married, which is supposed to happen this summer.
I hope Charlene has decided to let Caroline’s children be the heirs, and leave Albert to swing in the wind. But I’m guessing they’re doing IVF and it’s just not working. Poor thing. (On EVERY level.)

I happened to catch the wedding.. I honestly thought she would dump him at the alter! It appeared to be the most miserable day of her life. It was sad to watch, never understand these people? It appears time hasn’t helped.
So if so unhappy with this guy prior-prince or no- why marry him? If she made the conscious decision to marry for the perks, suck it up!!

I like Charlene but she always looks so sad. I saw photos of her at one of her charities teaching kids how to swim. She looked the most happy . So I don’t know .
Have to say that this chick is probably sad because she has no idea how to dress. Look at that pleated pants/skirt thing she’s wearing in the last snap and she always wears ill fitted blazers that she can barely squeeze her big arms into. Ugh.

I think when they married they worked out a deal that she would stick around for 5 years but not have to have kids. That’s sort of saving face to Albert, who will then impregnate and marry some chick before she gives birth. Also, the new baby is NOT heir to the throne. I think they didn’t get married because of that. Albert is still going to insist his kids get the throne.
She looks utterly miserable, but it’s on her for marrying him. Even if they foiled her escape, no one made her speak those words in the church that day. She made her bed… He just likes to get in lots of different beds.
I just can’t understand why she agreed to marry him in the first place. I can see her being pressured on her wedding day with all the pomp and the world watching, but surely she knew long before that what a pig he is. Alberts illegitimate kids are black. That’s why they aren’t in line for the throne. We can fancy it up with other reasons why but that’s the real reason.
He has a son and a daughter. The son is half black, the daughter is white. The constitution of Monaco states that only legitimate children may inherit the throne. Neither the son nor daughter can become royalty.
Not both. Only the boy – Alexandre. The girl Jazmin Grace, is white.
She is older too. If there is any line for the throne made by illegitimate kids, she will be the first. So I don’t believe that exist a “race problem” here.

She looks far more miserable than ever before. Has anyone wondered if she couldn’t escape and actually was forced to marry? I have wondered about that for years. Who tries to escape the week before the wedding and has her passport confiscated? I have always felt sorry for her. I hope she cheats and leave him, she deserves a bit of happiness.
It’s probably because I look up the Monegasque royals from time to time, but Charlene doesn’t look “miserable” to me.
It’s this particular event that doesn’t interest her. She’s never really looked enthusiastic when watching tennis.
She is much more comfortable with other sports and when she’s interacting with kids. She looks very warm and genuinely interested when she’s attending children’s charities and swimming events.
I also don’t think she and Albert will have kids. I think Albert got married to shut everyone up who kept on making jokes about his sexuality and questioning his lifestyle as a 50-something bachelor.
He already has his heirs. His nephews Andrea and Pierre have been attending events with him for the past few years. He’s probably already started training Andrea as his successor. He adores Caroline’s children, so it’s not impossible that he’d pass on the throne to them.
It’s just unfortunate that he doesn’t treat his kids any better.
I joined just to add that I agree that she doesn’t seem miserable to me either more than uncomfortable and kind of ungainly in the public light. She seems to be more of a private person to me and maybe an introvert…and it could be that her personality doesn’t translate well on cameras.
It could also be the language barrier.
Charlene doesn’t speak fluent French. She has lived 10 years in Monaco and she still doesn’t speak it well.

They were not even sleeping in the same hotel during their honeymoon! I think she is staying because she loves the lifestyle – divorce is quite frequent in Albert’s family so it wouldn’t be too scandalous.
I do believe Princess Stephanie’s children were born out of wedlock but she then married and quickly divorced their father, therefore legitimizing them. Stephanie’s third child however, Camille, is not eligible for the throne because Stephanie never married her father (and there was some speculation for awhile who the real father was).
And I don’t think Charlene will ever have children with Albert. In a few years we will be getting a divorce announcement I feel.
