Emma Watson in Christopher Kane for Cannes ‘Bling Ring’ photocall: so cute?

Ah, I forgot that The Bling Ring is premiering at Cannes. And it’s happening today! These are some photos from The Bling Ring photocall just a short time ago. Sofia Coppola looks especially cute, I think, but doesn’t she live in France most of the time? So of course she knows how to dress for Cannes – I even think her outfit looks slightly nautical, which is totally in line with CFF.

Emma Watson, star of The Bling Ring, chose this maroon Christopher Kane Fall 2013 collection dress with some kind of feathery accents. At first I thought the accents were bejeweled something or other, and I’m pleased to see I was wrong. I think if it was glittery and bejeweled, it would have been wrong for the photocall, but with the feathers it’s just a really cute little dress. It looks great on her too! I love her minimalist styling here too – I don’t know if she’s got a really great makeup person or if she’s just wearing barely any makeup, but she looks so fresh and dewy. Good hair too – I always think she looks better with her hair slicked back or pulled back in some way, as opposed to loose with some bangs.

I’m excited to see what Emma wears for the premiere! I’m excited to see what Sofia pulls out too. Maybe some Marc Jacobs? Or is she over Marc?

Did we ever watch the full-length trailer for The Bling Ring? I actually think Emma is doing a bang-up job with the accent work, and she’s not someone I associate with “the ability to do an American accent”. But she does that bored, nasal Valley Girl accent really well.

    she is strikingly beautiful, damn.

I like her hair and makeup but that dress is several shades of wrong.

    • gabs says:

      Fiftt shades of crimson red

    • bros says:

she desperately needs accessories to keep her looking like a little girl playing dress up. putting some on would have pulled the look together so much better.

      • FLORC says:

What? She is so pretty and her style is hers. She’s not trying to play off someone else’s style and look uncomfortable. She’s got her own look. Minimal make up, cute and a little unconventional dresses, clean lines. She always gets a little bit of criticism with a carpet look, but there’s something right about how she pulls it all together.
It’s not for me, but I like it on her.

The only thing I don’t like is how thin she is without looking toned. When you’re that thin you should see natural muscle definition. Unless you lay around and don’t eat or do cardio you shouldn’t look like you lack muscle definition. Kristen Stewart is a great example of a “fat, skinny person”.

Completely agree. Dress is a no.

  3. Anna says:

Love the dress, which she’d gone with a more fun shoe – something more edgy/strappy/grommety? But love Ems overall regardless. Just recently watched “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” – she was so lovely in it (even tho the posh Brit accent still comes through every other word)!

    • Jane says:

She seems to be a good mix of youthful, edgy and a bit sophisticated at the same time. She is really a beautiful young woman. Agree about the shoes though. Too boring. Hope she does well on the carpet tonight.

  4. Belle Epoch says:

Love Emma! Did she ever go back to college?

  5. serena says:

She is super cute, I really like her, but I would have added some jewelry..at least a bracelet or simple earrings. Oh and close up your legs Emma.

    • Chrissy says:

      +1!!

It sort of sounds condescending but she really needs to close her legs in.

    • Merritt says:

What is with the legs comment? They are not even that far apart. It is not as though she is in pap smear pose.

  6. Christina says:

sorry, but she only ever looks insipid, no matter what she wears.

  7. Deb says:

Both Emma and Sofia look terrific. Love both those looks and really excited to see bling ring

  8. bns says:

I can’t wait to see this movie.

  9. SusieQ2 says:

She looks so pretty but I think that color is a little bit ‘heavy’ for the summer.

  10. emmaV1 says:

Wait I thought her publicist said she would be graduating this May 2013…..shouldn’t she be enjoying the last week ish of brown with her friends?

  11. moon says:

meh, she’s so bland and overrated.

  12. allons-y alonso says:

Not a fan of the dress, or of Miss Waston in general. I think she’s incredibly insipid and a little smug

  13. Maya says:

She looks lovely here, but…I’m sorry, I just can’t believe her as an actress. In the Bling Ring trailer she seems like she’s doing an SNL skit, not playing a fully developed character.

I know the character she’s portraying is supposed to be ridiculous and ditzy (and obviously I’ll have to see her full performance before I judge any further), but her line delivery just seems so stilted and fake. And I thought the same about her performance in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

So she may prove me wrong, but for now I’m thinking Emma should go back to school and focus on something other than acting. I mean, she’s so rich she can get a liberal arts degree without having to worry about how useless it is in today’s job market! (*cries quietly*) It must be such an awesome feeling to know you’re financially set for life and can focus on what you really love to do without worrying about money.

Love the dress and her whole look. Sophia on the other hand looks like she barely tried.

  15. jojo says:

she is cute in her own way, but something about her screams ‘kid-cute’ rather than grown-up sexy. Whenever she dolls herself up, she looks like a teenager playing dressup rather than a young adult. She has zero sex appeal to me, in anything she acts in, pics she takes or what she wears. Beauty is not everything, but if she would walk into my supermarket, without the actress-fame she’d be very average looking compare to the other young woman of that age range.

i have no real opinion yet on her acting ability, though she was atrocious in the potter movies, but she’s was/still learning her craft, so i’ll give her the benefit of the doubt for a few years on that.

  16. Azurea says:

Cripes, judging from that group shot, I don’t want to see this movie. They’re all standing stiff, no expression, like a bunch of cardboard. Sophia looks totally over it with her faint sneering lip curl,
& like she just rolled out of bed. No charisma or chemistry among the whole lot!

    • Little darling says:

This! They are all there, no one is smiling, all of their arms are just hanging. No chemistry. It’s one of the most awkward group photo shots I’ve ever seen!

  17. Meg13 says:

I love Sofia Coppola. She always looks classy. I wish I could pull off that look without looking like the frumpy mom I am.

  18. Autumn says:

    She’s perfection. Adore her.

  19. Claudia says:

I am insanely jealous of Emma’s skin. So clear and smooth and bright.

Sofia Coppola is so beautiful, I love her hair and sense of style. She looks like she just stepped out of a classic Italian film (countryside, vines, bicycles, the sea).

  20. Wd says:

I’d love to nuzzle that long neck of hers.

  21. Angie says:

completely lost it at emma’s deadpan, inane babbling @ 1:16. That was so SPOT. ON.

  22. Abby says:

This actually looks like a good movie!
