Madonna goes pantsless at the Billboard Music Awards: tragic or Madge-tastic?

I guess I sort of have to give it to Madonna. She’s 54 years old and her thighs look better than mine. These are photos of Madge at the Billboard Music Awards. This is how she walked the carpet, this is how she sat in the audience, this is how to received her awards for “Top Touring Artist” and “Top Dance Album” and this is how she posed for the press. Madonna didn’t feel like putting on a skirt, so she didn’t. She didn’t feel like changing her costume, so she didn’t. She wore the same garter belt and fishnet whatever the whole night. And it’s fine. Just give in to it. Madge thinks she’s being controversial. Let her think that.

I do want to say something about her face though – remember when her face looked painful? She had chicken cutlet cheekbone fillers inserted or she had a ribbon lift or something, and her face looked so painful for several years. But it doesn’t anymore. She’s had to let go of her oversized cheekbones, but her face looks softer. I’m sure she’s had so much work done, but it’s better work than she got a few years ago.

I’m also including photos of Celine Dion (she’s 45!) in Atelier Versace. God, doesn’t Celine look amazing? I wouldn’t be surprised if Celine gets some occasional Botox, but I appreciate that she doesn’t look waxy or frozen. This Versace is great on her too – very few women could pull off that color.

Madonna is a clear cut case of ‘Just because you can doesn’t mean you should’

    • Arock says:

It bothers me that she wears gloves but makes everyone scout her cookie. I love you girl, but just sing Vogue and exit left.

    • judyjudyjudy says:

why do women (you are one right?) insist on restricting other women’s sexuality? When you are 54 and maybe in your wildest dreams look that good, you will be happy for a trailblazer like her.

      • chaser says:

Oh how non judge-y of you for reducing Elisabeths comment down to ‘you’re just a ugly, jealous hater’. Since when did sistahood (of the non existent pants) mean that a woman can’t have an opinion on what another woman wears. When did a persons clothing directly relate to their sexuality?

If a male star got up there dressed similarly we’d all be ‘dude, put some clothes on’ and it’ll all be cool and we’d move on.

But something about the ‘sistahood’ means you can go and attack a lady about how she’s too fat, fugly and covered in Cheetos dust to participate in this convo.

      • gogoGorilla says:

Because there’s a time and a place to show us the goods. If she wants to flash at her shows, that’s all well and good – people are paying money and probably expect to see the wilds below. But at a music awards show? Put on some pants, or at least a tube top of a skirt.

        She just looks ridiculous.

Celine’s dress is lovely, but I hate her shoes.

      • V4Real says:

Her look was good for the Met Gala but she can’t rock it twice and get away with it. If it was Taylor Swift I would say the same thing; put some pants on the punk theme is not at the Billboards, it was at The Gala.

      • The Original G says:

I’m all for everyone, including Madonna being a sexy as they like.

It’s not her sexuality that the problem it’s that she seems stuck proving how young she looks in a tacky way. Hardly sexy. But to each their own.

      • HotPockets says:

Judy, I don’t think Madonna looks that good for 54 and no offense, with all the money she has spent on cosmetic surgeries, she should look better.

I’ve seen regular women who look much better physically and face wise who are her age or a little younger, who have never had a cosmetic enhancement, so it’s not like women have to “dream” of looking that good when they are that age, most look better naturally.

      • Thiajoka says:

Madonna is trailblazing Cher, that is. It’s ridiculous.

      • pandora says:

If you look back, and kind of get it into context, this isn’t about her proving shes still young, its really just the same effed up italo catholic motherless macho absent daddy thing shes always parlayed into how she dresses.

And when it comes to red carpets, nobody has probably made the worst dressed list more than Madonna, I mean sometimes shes just looks freaking stupid.

I’m all for peri-menopausal sexuality flauntage, hpowever I feel i must say I find Madonnas granny undies WAY less offensive than the way my mother used to talk like she was 12 and giggle a lot at my boyfriends when I was in highschool LOL.

        Shes just Madonna 😀

you know she’s wearing those new twist slim fit depends under those undies right??

      • Eleonor says:

I am 32, and I am over the oversexualisation of everything. I am over the need the pressure to look sexy.
I want to look good, that doesn’t imply I have to look sexy; so I am over this chick who thinks being young means being sexy in every moment. I am tired of this attitude.

      • judyjudyjudy says:

obviously my post was pushed down to make way for the supportive comments.

How hilarious that so many jumped all over my comment. Guess what I said hit nerve “girls”.

        judyjudyjudy

      • judyjudyjudy says:

        @chaser

I know you only had a few minutes to write all the comments in the thread, but still. Take time. Breathe. Read what is written rather than just saying whatever and pretending you are responding to the post I put there.

yes, this means taking more effort than you took. And yes, this might be hard for you. But it will be rewarding when you see you have actually engaged in thought and not just vomited the same old same old. :-0

      • judyjudyjudy says:

        @hotpockets

I dont spend my time pulling people apart. I am not a plastic surgeon trying to make people feel like crap.

      • Coldworld says:

You should definitely change your name to Judgyjudgyjudgy 😉

      • judyjudyjudy says:

        @Coldworld

or maybe – “judyjudyjudy I can see how much you dislike yourself”

and my name is a play on Grant, not on Judy. Lol.

    • bns says:

      She looks incredible, though…

      • judyjudyjudy says:

I think so many of these sites are run by plastic surgeons trying to drum up biz.

Soooo many unhappy people analyzing every pore. It must suck to be like that. Seriously. If Madonna looks bad to someone, what can they possibly look like to themselves?

    • Liz says:

She is too old to be dressing like this.

      • judyjudyjudy says:

so here is an idea. DONT LOOK. Go do some exercise and chill.

      • HotPockets says:

I’m sorry Judy, but this site is called “celeBITCHY.” When you dress like how Madonna dresses, she wants people to talk about how she looks, that’s what her entire career has been based off of, her “shock” value.

      • judyjudyjudy says:

        @hotpockets

ah, the old excuse for being lame. “The website name made me do it”

hey, you wanna shill for the plastic surgeons and spread self hatred? At least own up to it.

  2. don't kill me i'm french says:

she’s proud of her butt and her legs :why not?

    her prizes look phalic

  3. Pastyousayyouneverknew says:

I used to ADORE Celine and these days, posts like these are the only thing that make me remember she still exists. That being said though, she looks pretty good here 🙂

    • don't kill me i'm french says:

i’m going to go to her next concert at Paris (France) and i even am not fan

    • Carolyn says:

Celine does look nice. She presented right after Bieber got booed. No-one booed her.

Hang on…Madonna got Top Touring & Dance awards? Who on earth shortlists & decides who gets these awards????

  4. dcypher1 says:

That’s funny u put Celine and Madge together in the same post cus they are distantly related no joke. They are related through madonnas mother she is part french Canadian.

  5. Really says:

Maybe this was the backup outfit for the Met gala and she was upset she didn’t get to wear it? Cher already did this look.

    • JenD says:

Except for the top/jacket, it looks just like the Met Gala outfit. She thought she looked so awesome the first time, she had to wear it again. 🙂

  6. Charlotte says:

Her face is sensational in these pics. That’s the doctor she should stick with

    • Grace says:

She and Sharon Stone have the same doctor. They look alike now – not so much in these pictures; but another site had more pictures and her work was painfully obvious. Also, if you are going for the fishnet look, pick a pair with no holes.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

I agree. She’d gotten so many fillers she was looking doughy and lumpy, but whoever did this work got her looking fantastic again.

    • judyjudyjudy says:

do you work for the doctor? I mean, that is just a weird comment otherwise. Do you go around staring at women and commenting on their “work”? Very unhealthy obsession unless you are paid to shill for that industry.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

Do you work for the moral police? I mean, that is just a weird comment otherwise. Do you go around judging discussions on gossip websites and shaming their commenters? Very unhealthy obsession unless you are paid to.

      • Charlotte says:

Ahhh, Judy, Judy, Judy. This is a gossip website. We look at pictures of celebrities; we comment on said pictures. We won’t always agree; we won’t always understand.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. You have given me an idea for a work-from-home job. I’m sure Madge’s doctor really needs the revenue that my comment, buried in a sea of comments, will bring to their practice. I’ll get right on offering my services. Cheers.

    • Joanna says:

yeah, i agree. she looks great here. in the face that is. yes, her body is great but i dont wanna see it.

  7. David99 says:

    She is vile

  8. Aussie girl says:

Granted yes she has an amazing body. But I’m going to be honest, I cringe when I see her. It’s just not age appropriate. Now I’m all for sisterhood, loving what we’ve got & conifendence but I just can’t!!! I’m going to say it…… I feel for her daughter.

  9. Dee says:

Doesn’t Celine look like C-3PO in this outfit?:)

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/C-3PO_droid.png

  10. Faye says:

Madonna just elicits a shrug from me these days. I think it’s kind of desperate, but if it makes her happy, eh, why not? She’s not hurting anybody. I just don’t think anybody cares, either.

Celine Dion looks great! She actually looks natural to me – you can see the fan lines near her eyes and some sagging at the jaw line. I don’t mean that as a criticism, though. It’s so rare to me to see a celeb go natural, but she looks great. And her body is terrific.

    • chaser says:

Agree. Madge dresses like this for shock value but its kinda yawn inducing because society today is very non-clothes/hypersexual neutral. If she wants to break boundaries she really needs to find new boundaries to break.

If she is just doing it to flash her fit body, Celine looks just as fit (and way more fab) even when something is left to the imagination.

    • Lisa says:

Yeah, I don’t hate Madonna, but at this point, it’s like, ‘oh.’ The usual.

  11. LadyBird83 says:

Listen I’m not gonna deny her body is great for her age BUT her AGE is the SAME as MY MOMS! If my Mom came out in something like this we’d have to have a talk with her therapist.I just feel bad for her kids.

  12. DanaG says:

Yawn it’s Madonna being Madonna as boring as ever. Too try hard it’s all been done before and better. She has great legs at least she kept her boobs in. LOL

    • Pastyousayyouneverknew says:

+1 I wonder if the public will still have to see her like this in twenty years – the thought makes me cringe. I used to think it was really gutsy and cool but I think that the only way she shock me now is by dressing modestly lol

    • Another Ann says:

Agree. She lost all of her “coolness” factor when she started trying too hard. It has nothing to do with her age. When other female music icons like Blondie or Joan Jett show up for an event, they’ve still got it. They still look good, but their look doesn’t say “Hey! Look at me!”

Honestly, Madonna always looks like she’s travelling with a Rocky Horror Picture Show revival. Rather than look like she’s keeping up with things, she looks like she’s stuck in the past.

  13. 5thHouse says:

    My God she’s gross.

  14. Anastasia says:

I want to pat Madonna on her head and give her a small, condescending smile. Girrrrrrrrrl, stop. She doesn’t have to wear polyester pantsuits, but this is the very definition of trying too hard.

  15. Eleonor says:

    Oh God.
Yes your tights look better than mine too…but I don’t know what to say at this point, really.

  16. Harriet says:

WTF is Madonna doing to herself?!?

  17. emmie_a says:

Celine looks stunning — Madonna looks pathetic.

Madge didn’t wear pants to the Met Gala either. Doing it once is maybe shocking or whatever you’re trying to get out of it — but doing it again is just sad. You have a great body. Good for you. Now put some pants on.

  18. Patricia says:

It used to really bother me that Madonna dressed like this as an “older” woman (only a few yrs on me that is) – But now I think it is just funny and don’t care. Go for it Madge 🙂

She’s obviously not going to ride quietly into the sunset, so we might as well just sit back and enjoy the show. She certainly does. I bet she’ll be dressing the same way at 70!

  19. Nev says:

    SUPERSTAR.

  20. janie says:

Seriously? Does this woman own real clothes? She has a nice bod… Save it for your teenage boyfriend.

  21. epiphany says:

Sad that a woman who always seemed so fearless in other aspects of her life is so terrified of growing old.

  22. HouseofBeatrix says:

Madonna can do no wrong. I don’t care how old she is, she can wear what she wants to wear.

Has it been done before? YES, BY HER.

  23. The Original Original says:

I think she looks great here, better than she has in a long time. So she doesnt get that shes not being edgy anymore…still think she looks good

  24. LahdidahBaby says:

Um, yeah but her inner thighs are all red and chapped on each side of her biscuit. Like Satan just went down on her and it got all singed. Wtf IS that? Am I the only one who sees it? And if so, is it time for me to get exorcised? :-O

    • Pixie says:

I unfortunately scrolled back up and now that’s all I can see…ARGH!
You’re too old for this Madge, just age gracefully! If not for you, then for your children!

    • Belle Epoch says:

I noticed she has to take that extreme pose or – gasp! – her thighs will touch each other!

She knows this look is worthless if her thighs touch (like a normal person). The minute she walks away they are rubbing together.

    • Thiajoka says:

My guess is a wax that should have been done prior to wearing this, several days ago, to let the redness settle.

  25. FreeSpiritedGirl says:

Hey Grandma! You forgot your skirt!

  26. NM9005 says:

It’s ironic how she said she wasn’t going to traipse around in these kind of clothes anymore when she would be in her early 50s. The year was 1998-1999 and riding high on her ROL era. Good times…

I wonder what compelled her to keep on doing this. Plus she doesn’t need to go half-naked, a lot of her iconic costumes were actually not so naked and made a point.

Her body is rocking though, wow, I can’t find any flaw. I would take it, wrinkles and all. Hold out the botox. And she doesn’t flaunt her boyfriend on the RC like Jlo does and Zaibat is arguably better looking and less smug.

  27. Aussie girl says:

Would she want her daughter to wear that ?? No because its not age appropriate. Mage stop showing your vage!!!!!

  28. su says:

celine is ONLY 45? i though she was the same age as madonna!

  29. Sheil says:

If Madge wore an age appropriate outfit, now that would be turn more heads. She could be a real stunner in mainstream clothes with her bod.

  30. mabooski says:

Oh madonna! more power too her!

  31. siobhan says:

Celine has an amazing voice. She doesn’t need gimmicks to prove she is worthy of attention. Maddona’s talent always relies on controversy. She looks desperate for validation that she can still make our jaws drop.

    • Tasha says:

      ^ this

I also think Celine looks 10x sexier then Madonna and she has more clothes on.

  32. poppy says:

she can’t show her grizzle arms and veiny hands so her lower half is fair game?
NM9005 is correct, she did say she wasn’t going there at this age and here she is.

  33. goddesslove says:

Madonna looks FAB! All the old chics are mad cause she is f*@^in’ them!

  34. Jaded says:

Madge’s whole schtick is to push herself in your face constantly, to draw attention by any means, as if to say “Look at meeee, look at meeee! Aren’t you bitches all jealous!” Her self-absorption and craven need for attention, to be always in the spotlight, to be rude and insensitive to everyone, is nothing to be proud of. Can’t stand her and have always found her phony, derivative, talentless and crass.

  35. bns says:

Love her so much. She looks amazing!

  36. Jayna says:

Madonna has been criticized forever. People just forget and look fondly on many of her eras, when at the time she was trounced roundly, like the Erotica era. They said her career was over. Not. She will always do want she wants. I don’t really have an opinion except I love her jacket. I love the accessories.

While her face is much better now, I will always hate the implants because it changed the bone structure of her face and changed her once interesting face. I will never accept it.

  37. Justaposter says:

My first thought was, what in the hell is she wearing…

Second thought, minus the outfit, she looks really good! Much softer and dare I say, really good for her age, like she is kinda accepting she is a grown up now 😉

Third thought.. when they said 30 years.. OMFG! No way! then yes way. 30 years since Band Stand, and I have been a fan for every second of those 30 years!

  38. TheyPromisedMeBeer says:

I miss Ray of Light era Madonna. You know, the one who had gracefully matured and didn’t feel like she had to trounce around naked to prove anything anymore.

I don’t think she is trying to make a point or shock us so much as cover up for her forgettable current music and stay relevant.

    • Tiffany says:

I know. Hell, I even liked her Music era. She looked great and was still keeping in with Ray of Light. It showed that she can do great pop albums. I think I will listen to that tonight to remind me of that.

    • NM9005 says:

I want Great Music Madonna back. I think she has more great albums or at least good than crappy ones. When she neared 50, it’s like her quality went down and replaced it for quantity. She does a lot of things unrelated to music.

I feel as if the clothes came off without a reason. To replace the real artist in her and turn her into a cookie cutter attention starving generic ‘young’ popstar. If I want trashy, there’s Rihanna. Madonna has got nothing to prove, she doesn’t need to be half-naked! Or at least make it fashionable.

If she would churn out good music, it would serve a purpose. And i would start buying her albums again.

      • Jayna says:

I agree. Bar a few songs, MDNA was an embarrassment. It’s a shame. Madonna has it in her to put out another great record, not lazy. lyrics, autotuned vocals, juvenile songs that even the juveniles were too sophisticated for.

      • NM9005 says:

Yup. I gasped when I saw the docu with Rupert Everett. She was way more mature and smart in her career decisions than she is now. She didn’t see herself the way she is now. Weird and sad.
The oldschool Madonna (80s-2006) would drop dead at the sight of new Madonna.

  39. k says:

Madge always looks better when she wears saturated colors around her face.

I’m OK with the style of here outfit, but the black really does not do her any favors.

I believe that the procedures she had took time to settle down, that’s all. Although I still see a few ventriloquist dummy lines connecting cheeks to lips.

  40. Maggie says:

What is age appropriate? I really dislike that term. Wear what you want!!!

  41. Isa says:

Her body looks great but I think she looks ridiculous dressing up like a 21 years old. Lets put that aside. WTH is wrong with her eyes. Did ya’ll catch her eyes after she removed the sunglasses off!?! Was she crying? Couldn’t sleep? Had some work done?

She needed to keep them glasses on :/

  42. Nudgie says:

Just like Michael Jackson in that she refuses to “age” gracefully but unfortunately does NOT have the popularity or ‘edge’ she had when younger.

You are ruining your legacy Madge. Do you want the trailblazing Madonna or the trying-WAY-too-hard Madonna (complete with Boy Toy as child) legacy?

  43. Aud says:

For the first two seconds, i thought she was holding three gold dildos!

  44. Mandy says:

Madonna does look a lot better than she did a few years ago. She was straight up SCARY for a little while. I wish she would start dressing age appropriate though. She would actually look YOUNGER if she did that.

    • Dredz says:

When she was married to Guy Ritchie, she used to dress quite elegantly and lady-like, lots of Prada et al. I love her style back then.

      • Jayna says:

All of her looks in 2011 and very beginning of 2012 last year while promoting her movie, W.E., were very classic and flattering. Nothing since.

  45. Lisa says:

    Relax your damn shoulders, Madonna!

Did Celine have work done? Veneers? Or just bad foundation? She looks different…

  46. fiona says:

    Madge-tastic!

  47. mar says:

I loved her look. I guess I am the only one.

  48. Kloops says:

Typical but not shocking or edgy. It’s all smoke and mirrors. She strategically hides all the places where her age and/or surgical procedures are evident and then over exposes those areas she deems youthful. It’s just so try-hard and cringe worthy because all the evidence points to someone hating getting old. By all means, wear what you want, I just wish she owned her age. She should. She’s earned it.

  49. Zinzah says:

This harpie needs to have a seat and put some damned clothes on. #thatisall

  50. Itsa Reallyme says:

Same old fashion for Madonna. Since the 90’s. Yawn.
If she really wants people to talk, she might want to try something classy. We haven’t seen that look on her.

  51. Nudgie says:

She doesn’t care – if you talk about her, she wins. All she wants is attention – she has become almost irrelevant as far as MUSIC goes – and with the way current music is, that is AWFUL.

I feel so badly for kids and young adults – you have been totally screwed out of great writers and musicians. Twenty years from now NO ONE is going to listen to 90% of performers today.

But you’ll get to hear them occasionally while you’re still working at McDonalds 🙂

  52. catharinemily says:

she looks so foolish. it is a dated look that doesn’t work. looks like she trying too hard. gross

  53. mamasaid says:

she looks damn stupid and annoying! it’s not even an edgy look because it’s so played! her face looks EVERY bit of her age. even if the wrinkles have been ironed out. she is a sick minded woman at this point and her 25 years younger boyfriend (who’s mother is YOUNGER than Madonna) just proves it further. I loved her back in her hay day just like everyone else but I really just can’t stand her these days. horrible music, tasteless brandishing of weapons and nipples in her shows…horrible

  54. april says:

They both look fantastic! Of course Madonna’s outfit is pretty weird, but that’s Madonna.

  55. Susan Lee says:

wooo… not every 50’s women can post like that. Good job to keep her young and still hip..
    <<>>

  56. Amelia says:

Celine had veneers put on years ago. Her teeth were not good, and the veneers made a huge, much improved difference. I think she looks wonderful, is aging beautifully, and doesn’t look over done.

Madonna looks like a hag. Way too many procedures and injections, ridiculous outfits…when you have to try this hard, it’s time to rethink your strategy.

  57. Jane says:

Not tragic nor Madge-tastic— totally desperate.

  58. LaurieH says:

Not tragic. Not Madge-tastic. Just a desperate cry for attention from an aging pop star who doesn’t realize her career peaked a quarter of a century ago.

  59. skuddles says:

Ugh, Madge is really running with the whole “I’m a punk now” thing since the Met Gala. Lady, put your pants on, and dig up some self-respect while you’re at it.

  60. lisa says:

she seems like she desperately wants someones attention

i can practically see the serial # on her cheek implants

  61. Jennifer12 says:

Madonna was annoying at every age. She is convinced she is edgy and hip and a trailblazer and she isn’t. She plays different roles and hooks her wagon to whatever she thinks is going to be big. She is beyond irritating.

  62. EscapedConvent says:

This is why Madonna doesn’t slink away like she ought to—they keep giving her awards.

As long as she keeps getting encouraged, she’ll keep caterwauling in her cheerleader’s uniform & her fishnets.

  63. mia says:

Madonna is starting to look like Priscilla Presley with the ‘joker smile’. She is going the way of Joan Rivers and does not even know it.

Wait until her son David writes a book about what a great mom she was!

  64. Blenheim says:

I really don’t need to see Madonna’s crotch and thighs any more, shapely though they may be….
