Cobalt blue dominated the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards last night. Simple strapless gowns in bold colors with subtle accents and jewelry hit the best notes. Kate Winslet wowed in black Yves St. Laurent and Chopard diamonds. Amy Adams was amazing in black floor length Oscar De La Renta. Kyra Sedgwick rocked a crimson strapless gown with a fishtail and subtle matching belt.
Worst Dressed: Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Rene Zellweger, Lisa Rinna, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Glenn Close.
Rene Zellweger and Drew Barrymore sported messy hair that made otherwise acceptable dresses look trashy. Zellweger’s staple designer Carolina Herrera made her look a fright in a black gown with shoulder cutouts while Barrymore looked like a drunken teacher at the prom in John Galliano. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Lanvin dress was a bit too busy for the red carpet, although some found it daring and through it worked off the runway. Glenn Close was just too matronly in a sparkly brocade print jacket and tight silk pants. Heidi Klum wore a goofy cocktail dress with a giant red flower and gladiator shoes. Jennifer Lopez’s gold draped Marchesa gown was too reminiscent of that stuck-on Versace number she wore years ago, although this timei t looked neither fresh or daring, just kind of cheap. Poor Marisa Tomei was just ridiculous in a puffy shirt.

Angelina Jolie didn’t wow or hit a major fashion misstep on the red carpet last night, she was just there. Her hair hung limp, and her makeup was simple. Her silver Altelier Versace dress was plain and loose without having any distinguishing features except for a side slit. It also had a drop waist which actually made the stick thin Angelina look a little frumpy. Maybe she’s hiding something under there. Kate Beckinsale certainly wasn’t the worst dressed, but she wore a typical prom-like poofy white dress with upswept hair. Eva Mendes looked the same in a white gown with a giant folded napkin detail at the waist. Big boobs from Salma Hayek drew our attention but they were way too shelf-like and pushed up. Beyonce was all about the boobs. Poor Miley Cyrus was also showing way too much cleavage, especially for a 16 year-old. Anne Hathaway was lovely in a Giorgia Armani Prive blue navy gown with crystal embroidering. Eva Longoria Parker was shiny in bright red Reem Acra. She may have made best dressed, but I thought the dress was too tight. Penelope Cruz was beautiful but a little plain in striped strapless champagne-colored Armani Prive. The color just didn’t work on her. Cameron Diaz’s Pepto pink Chanel was just too complicated, but it wasn’t awful. Megan Fox looked trashy in a tight gold gown.

Aww I like the way Drew Barrymore looks. Its a very different look for her, more mature than usual, and I think she looks sexy as hell.
J-Lo looks horrible as always. Always OTT. She and Lisa Rinna look like they should get back in their time machine and head back to the 1985 Golden Globes.
Salma Hayek we get it you have huge boobs. You’d think she’s the only one with big boobs considering they’re always on display.. she sorta reeks of desperation.
My favorite was Cameron Diaz’s, it was fresh, a fun color, fun cut, but still appropriate. A nice break from the long (and too often boring) gowns.
Melissa Gilbert looks like she wrapped herself in her bed linen. That is an atrocious dress.
A note to Celebitchy, it would be really helpful if the pictures had a caption on them when you mouse over which shows the name of the actress/actor in the photo instead of just some ambiguous file name. I have no idea who some of these people are.

That just left me speechless for a moment, because in my eyes this is one hot tranny mess, LOL.
But isn’t fashion a wonderful thing? So many different likings. I for one thought that Kate Winslet, an otherwise beautiful woman, wore a boring dress. I don’t see the beauty in Amy Adams dress either, but I too liked Kyra Sedgwick’s style. And I disagree with you on Kate Beckinsale, for once she looked really appropriate, nothing spectacular yet elegant.
Everyone is talking about Drew’s hair, which is too bad, because wow what a dress! Such a beautiful color on her too. JLo looked worst in my opinion. And Beyonce’s dress was way too small! As were here shoes. Beyonce and Jlo somehow just try too hard and pose too much.
Eva Mendez’s necklace blew my mind. She should have chosen a different dress, but that necklace was so beautiful.

when my husband and I first saw Drew’s hair we both looked at eachother and did not like it at all, regardless of hair she is beautiful, JLo’s dress a little too revealing her ass looked huge..Selma’s boobs ok we get it they r large..Loved Eva Menendez necklas she looked beautiful..Angelina was simple..Robert Downy looked like he just snorted a few lines in the bathroom..LOL overall almost everyone looked great, loved kate Winslet’s look, did not like Zellweger’s looks at all-nice make up that’s was it 🙂

Zoe, you’re usually a little too much of a Brangeloonie for me to agree with you, but I think we’re actually aligned on one point! I think Angelina’s dress choices these days are in an effort to work around her tummy (without going to the overdone empire waist style). She’s definitely human and after having twins only a few months ago, it’s totally understandable that she’s got a soft mid section. Plus the only bikini pics of her I’ve seen on the internet were from like 2001 and even though she had skinny arms & legs like usual, her middle was a little soft (NOT fat). So if it’s her body type + having recently had twins + doesn’t want to do the boring empire waist dress style = these strange choices as of lately. I still don’t love her look, but I empathize with anyone who works around their imperfect parts, especially with the level of perfection expected in hollywood.
Beyonce needs to Just. Go. Away. And if she has to contort herself into a ridiculous pose, perhaps the dress is a tad tight?
And what was up with Tater Head clapping along and acting a big part of the show? I thought her job was to stand in the background like a statue, and not annoy the rest of us who don’t have famous parents to get us jobs like that?
jm, I don’t get the thing about Rumer Willis either. Dresses always fit her so LOW! Is her chest saggy or is she just very long in the torso? She really does have an inflated sense of importance and entitlement. It’s sickening. And I’m suprised her friend, my least favorite actor on Heroes, Hayden “Lolita” Panettiere was basically nonexistent in all the GG recaps. She presented but must have been above the red carpet because I don’t see her anywhere…

Kate Winslet was my favorite, elegant and simple, with interesting details. I loved Drew Barrymore’s and Cameron Diaz’s dresses–beautiful, feminine, fun.
It looked like Eva Longoria was sewn into that red dress, but it looked fantastic on her.
Angelina looked thicker around the waist, but I think it was due to the cut of the dress. She is curvy from the bust to the waist, and this gathered fabric at the waistline didn’t follow the curves of her body.
Selma Hayack looked great in that dress. No one else there could’ve looked anywhere near as good in it, except for Scarlett Johansen.
Drew’s hair looks lik she got fucked and decided to put on hair spary after!

Yoicks, Rachel Griffiths apparently made off with some sheets from a trashy Vegas hotel. She said she was aiming for comfort, I guess that explains it.
My favorites were:
Cameron Diaz – I just loved the color and playfulness of it;
Drew Barrymore gorgeous cut/color but her hair totally distracted from it;
Eva Longoria – Wow! I thought she just looked stunning. She fit into that dress perfectly and she always looks good in red;
Sandra Bullock – Great dress. I liked the one should and thought the bottom detail was beautiful also. Very Feminine;
Kate Beckinsale – loved the white and simplicity of her dress. I think she has looked great lately.
I think the only reason Lisa Rinna was there is because she works for the TVGuide channel for their award show coverage. She also does their one-hour “Fashion Wrap” special since Joan and Melissa Rivers are no longer doing it.
Kate Winslet looked stunning head to toe. Anne’s dress was nice too. AJ looked much better in the face than at the critic’s choice, but seriously she nabbed Pitt when she used to dress all sexy. The anorexia is making her old and gross thats probably why she keeps choosing to dress like a frumpy old housewife. That look isn’t going to keep Brad and his wandering penis around.

Drew Barrymore: gorgeous dress. I looked at it and just fawned like a little girl. I love dresses that look like updates of fashion from other eras but modern. I would wear that in a half a second…if I could afford it and actually had occasion to wear it 😛
Eva Mendes: What on earth is happening at her waist? It’s like the designer made the dress in a size 20 and then cut it down to fit her and then stuffed all the leftover fabric into the “belt”.
Angelina Jolie: boring and ugly. The cut sucks. You can get a dress that hides a flabby post-baby tummy that is much more flattering. She looks like she’s wearing an XXXL tank top tucked into a skirt. And with the way she was posing, the skirt pulled around her midsection, highlighting her slightly flabby tummy. You don’t have to do an empire waist but that dress was just hideous.

Beyonce: WAY too tight. She looked like she couldn’t breathe. And no, she doesn’t have big tits, they’ve just been shoved and squished so badly that all there is of her breasts is about to spill over the top.

And, thank God, she didn’t go the cookie-cutter route and have her front gap filled. She is far more unique, as was Lauren Hutton, for that very same feature.
I think Drew looks beautiful, absolutely stunning in her grey tinted, powder blue dress – what a lovely hue for her to wear. I don’t normally like the type of hair do she was wearing, but it was perfect for the dress and for her face – she looks fabulous in it! And Drew does not usually dress well in public.
Lovely Angelina looks like hell. I hope there is no basis for this, but I have suspected for a few months that she is pregnant again. Please God, let me be wrong!
I’ve heard that Anne Hathaway is being dressed by Rachel Zoe for these events. What ever, she is wearing much more interesting clothes lately; the blue of the dress she is wearing is perfect for her pale, pale white skin tone, and I often see her in dresses that show off her long, long slender legs.
Selma Hayek is incredibly beautiful but the dress she is wearing is all wrong for her. It should be worn by a willowy woman; on Selma, she looks like she was cut off at the knees.
