Amy Winehouse’s tropical vacation turns ugly

spl72653_001
Just a matter of weeks ago, we were commenting on how much healthier Amy Winehouse was looking after an extended hospital stay and a Caribbean vacation with friends and a couple of hunky mystery men. Of course, getting a tan and splashing topless in the ocean doesn’t cure deep-seeded addiction problems, and it hasn’t taken long for Amy to revert to her old substance abuse habits. The singer was photographed crawling around on her hands and knees at the exclusive resort she’s been staying at, begging patrons for drinks, since the resort staff has refused to serve her anymore.

WASTED AMY WINEHOUSE is reduced to crawling up to holidaymakers and grabbing their drinks — after fed-up resort staff refused to serve her.

The sneaky singer also BEGS guests to order booze for her at the all-inclusive Caribbean resort.

Bizarrely Amy, who has fought addictions to drugs and alcohol, is at the posh Le Sport Spa on the sunshine isle of St Lucia for a HEALTH KICK.

Each day seems to start with good intentions as she limbers up with yoga-style stretches before swinging into action on exercise rings.

But by lunchtime bikini-clad Amy is relaxing with a drink on the beach or even openly smoking joints by the pool.

Come nightfall and she is hitting the bottle with pals — despite the booze ban agreed by her management and staff.

A source at the £200-a-night resort said: “We keep catching her crawling past bars, or hiding behind chairs. She grabs guests’ drinks and runs off, like a squirrel with a nut.”

The Rehab star also baffles guests with her mood swings. One said: “One minute she is very pleasant, saying, ‘All right darlin’ and chatting to people and having photos taken. The next she is throwing things and swearing her head off.”

“During a fight with a friend Amy tore off long acrylic nails she had fitted. She came up with her fingers bleeding and asked for a cotton bud.”

Amy, 25, was said to drape herself over male guests and staff — despite repeatedly insisting she still loves jailbird hubby BLAKE FIELDER-CIVIL, 26.

Workers even claimed to have found her in a late-night clinch on steps with a man believed to be clean-cut British holidaymaker JOSH BOWMAN, 21, who has since left.

Amy’s management have now hired a 6ft 6ins minder to keep her in line — but to little effect.

She was spotted creeping up behind one woman, asking for a cigarette and then sprinting away with her cocktail.

Another guest said: “She’s like a child craving attention. It’s embarrassing. She comes in for dinner barefoot and in her bikini, even though the dress code is smart casual.

“Then she will go and sit on her balcony topless playing the guitar when everyone is trying to sleep.”

But Amy — who has extended her two-week stay for another TWO MONTHS — was overheard on her mobile reassuring her father Mitch, 57: “I’ve been eating well and I feel great. I’ve only had a few drinks, Dad — honest.”

[From The Sun]

Come on- who didn’t see this coming? An addict is an addict, regardless of location. Amy doesn’t need another two months terrorizing innocent bystanders at a posh resort. She needs long-term, live-in, full-blown rehab in a highly respected facility, like Hazelden (where Eric Clapton went to dry out before starting his own clinic). Otherwise, she is doomed. There are people who can kick back and party a little while they’re on vacation and are perfectly fine doing so. But Amy is not one of them. Clearly, she is not able to control her drinking and drug taking and doesn’t know when to stop. Making an ass of herself has been part of her daily routine for quite some time now.

Oh well, too good to last. She needs proper (minimum 3mths) heavy-duty residential rehab. Can’t see her doing it though and not sure where she can go from here without it. Sad girl.

Are these stories always guaranteed as reliable? I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised just as I would, but maybe I’m naive. I dunno, I guess I’d have to see Amy on her knees begging to believe it, she seems a little more HC than that. Maybe just me.

  3. RReedy says:

I feel embarassed for her…what is WRONG with this girl? Big talent going down the tubes. A pity.

  4. MSat says:

Vale, if you go to the Sun website (linked above) you can see exclusive photos of Amy crawling around looking blitzed outside the bar at the resort. There are also photos of her at a restaurant with several empty wine glasses in front of her looking drunk as a skunk.

    goodbye lunch !!

@ vale – High class is NOT a word I would use to describe Amy Winehouse and as much as I’m a fan of her music I can see it all too clearly.

All of the magazines and celeb sites (including this one sorry CB) have been going on about how “well” Amy is doing. I don’t think she look ‘well’ at all. She looks somewhat less manic and out of it than she did and yes she’s gained some weight but that’s it.
She needs serious help not only for the drug and alcohol issues but the psychological ones that are behind such serious substance abuse.

People don’t just wake up one morning and decide to begin taking heavy duty drugs, there are underlying issues that make someone more susceptible to that kind of behaviour. Getting involved with Blake didn’t help but a woman with a healthy sense of self and self-esteem would have run a mile from him at first sight. Amy didn’t which compounded an already existent problem but that relationship didn’t ’cause’ her current issues. Those were there all the time.

While saying all that Amy Winehouse is an adult, she makes choices and the only way she will change her current situation is to make the choice too and to do the hard yards that will accompany that decision. No one else can do it for her and a five star resort, yoga and working with rings isn’t going to cut it.

In the meantime I think we all do a huge disservice by bleating on about how ‘wonderful’ she looks and how much ‘better’ she is. It minimises the seriousness of drug and alcohol addiction, the level of commitment it takes to overcome these problems and the cost, not only to the individual, but to families and society as a whole that these addictions bring to all of us.

    I am the eternal optimist.

I think The Sun built a story around a picture. No, I don’t know why Amy Winehouse was on her hands and knees, but one pic that doesn’t show her face and no one in the restaurant behind her seems to be concerned doesn’t say begging for drinks to me. And the picture of her at the table is just ridiculous. Most of those glasses are water goblets and the others are placed where there are obviously other people seated at the table.

I’m not saying Winehouse is above relapse, but I’m just not buying what The Sun has manufactured to sell this time.

  8. geronimo says:

@Diva – yes, it’s possibly an exaggeration (I’d love to think so too) but the fact remains, she’s only been looking well recently by comparison with how she looked a couple of months ago, she’s still eons away from how she looked 2 years ago. And considering the severity of her addiction, she’ll never be properly well again until she’s done some serious rehab time, residential or otherwise.

  9. vale says:

Saw the photos, her state is just so sad. HC was hardcore, drw, not high class. heh never got high class from her! I was so excited when she first came out, years ago and her first songs, but it’s just so sad to watch it all go down like this.

  10. Blanche says:

    ITA with Diva!!!!!

  11. Alecto says:

Have to agree with diva. I was thinking that if it’s as bad as all that the resort would kick her out. Can you imagine the money they would be loosing becuase nobody would want to stay there. Not to mention the fact that if she’s staying there another 2 months all the cancellations they would have.

  12. I’m leaning towards Diva on this one, but I’ve been singing drm’s song for a while now. As much as I want Amy to be Amy, she has serious psychological issues that simply cannot be addressed on vacation.

  13. morgs says:

I can’t believe that resort would say yes to two months of her shenanigans if she were really driving away the clientel. And if they did without thinking of the consequences, then they deserve everything she’s going to bring them.

  14. Baholicious says:

I am really sick of seeing the soles of this woman’s feet. I can only handle so much squalor.

  15. drm says:

@ Vale – I laughed when I saw that, scuse me…I didn’t realise you meant hardcore 🙂 I stand corrected. And I was wondering the same thing, why would the resort want her to stay for 2 MONTHS, even if her behaviour isn’t as bad as the Sun says…she’s a bit of a time bomb in that her behaviour can get *really* erratic. I was thinking that if I was a guest paying those prices I’d be a bit fed up…

  16. Sickitten says:

Sorry but the British rags will stoop to lying and not worried about getting their asses sued off. If this was a story from a rag from another country, I’d believe it. Not from Australia, though.

  17. Izzy says:

She’ll be dead within a year. It’ll be a shame to lose someone with huge talent.

  18. boomchakaboom says:

Maybe it’s just too early in the a.m. for me to read this story but I’m finding the image of her making off with other people’s drinks “like a squirrel” entirely too funny to be appropiate. Lawsy!

  19. Kat says:

I can see it now.. Everyone is sitting in the dining room, when someone yells, “HIDE THE BOOZE AND CIGARETTES, HERE COMES CRAZY AMY !!!” What a relaxing vacation that would be. I think I would demand a refund or a huge discount on my stay there.

  20. elainebenes says:

I cannot feel sorry for her anymore. she’s had so much help extended to her, more than enough money to enter rehab but she refuses. Because she does not want help.
Talent?? warbling out words that are barely audible while pulling her dress up almost to her crotch. Yeah, talent.
I’ve dealt with so much drug & alcohol abuse on both sides of my family & my ex’s, I’ve lost tolerance for this shit.

  21. Jeff Gordon says:

Last year they all said she’d be dead before the year is out. I predict Amy will live FOREVER.

  22. Baholicious says:

@Jeff G: Great…we have the ‘Cher’ of crackheads to look forward to.

    The Freaks on the Beach???
We were at the same resort for a week and think this article is pretty much on the nail. Amy is a sweetheart genuinely gorgeous to old people and kids but naturally wary about anyone else – not surprising when you see her hunted by rogue photographers who called her goddaughter a C*&^&* just to enrage her and get a sellable photo. The guests really adopted her and there was a conscience group effort to not bother her and to not make her feel like an animal at the zoo. What we did see was a pretty young girl who has plenty of life in her hanging out with a group of young mates and having a laugh – yes you could say sometimes it was a little loud or a bit volatile but in general there were no problems. She was very generous to newly weds and posed for pictures if politely asked- she did borrow fags and lighters but no one minded – being in the Caribbean makes you feel like sharing anyway. I never heard any one complain at all – there were a few dusty old dinosaurs in full war paint and couture lunching moaning about everyone so I am sure they would have been horrified by her and her posse but the rest of the guests were regular folk. The real FREAKS ON THE BEACH were the A personality woman who ran like headless chickens from tennis to golf to beauty therapy and dragged blackberries and laptops to lunch – they were spiteful to the ravishingly excellent staff and snapped rapid fire questions to anyone in their wake. I was even told to shut up by some stressed out businesswoman on my first day expressing my delight while talking to my boyfriend she had a headache???? These were the woman holidaying on their own looking older than their years and never a minute to stop and look at the sea or sit on the beach. I saw many a posh well heeled husband look longingly at the fresh faced exuberant Amy Winehouse as they turned back to face the trout pout expressionless taut face wife who while in matching bikini and sarong never even dipped a toe in the ocean – they were far more freaky to us!!!
There was a great deal of sympathy for Amy after witnessing how she is a hunted animal sometimes – We overheard a photographer was being duffed up in the bathroom and as a collective we all flipped eyebrows to heaven carried on reading our books and drinking our drinks thinking – ‘scum probably deserved it’.
Amy did sing a couple of times and you could feel this was an expression of her new found health and happiness. To hear her in person you do feel mesmerised even if its a few notes – there is something extraordinary about her voice – its still raw and if she manages to stay healthy and happy I hope it is reflected in her music – why should she suffer in life just to give us haunting tunes. She is young fun and pretty much the same as most kids I know her age – she makes a few mistakes but despite everything her smile really can light up a room. We all wish her a continued happy holiday- AMY stay as long as you can enjoy your family and friends – and when you leave beautiful St Lucia do what the Rasta’s say – Keep the faith!!!

  24. I guess she looks a little better but she still has a long way to go IMO.
