Jennifer Lawrence completely dorks out while meeting Jeff Bridges at Comic-Con

Jennifer Lawrence

We’ve been talking a lot about Jennifer Lawrence this week since her appearance at Comic-Con and the revelation of the newest Catching Fire trailer. Most of you generally respond positively to Jennifer, but some of you think she’s totally faking her “aw, shucks” persona. You’ve probably already figured out that I think she’s the real deal, and now Forbes has revealed that JLaw is currently the highest-earning actor under the age of 30. Over the past twelve months, she has earned an estimated $26 million from The Hunger Games and her various other movie roles. Not too shabby for a self-proclaimed “chihuahua, right?

Now get ready for the chihuahua to enter full dork-out mode. Remember when Jennifer completely freaked out when Jack Nicholson haunted a post-Oscars interview? This isn’t as good as that video, but it’s still pretty hilarious to see JLaw lose her sh-t when spotting one of her idols, Jeff Bridges. I don’t even know why Jeff was at Comic-Con (for The Seventh Son, perhaps?), but look at how JLaw ran like hell when she spotted him only to come back and embrace him like he’s the best person ever (at 2:30):

Well, at least she apologizes for interrupting Jeff’s interview with Extra, and I don’t think anyone present was upset with her fawning actions at all. Jennifer totally loves The Dude, and The Dude abides. Even the security guards were smiling about this encounter. So cute.

God I love her. I say that all the time, and I mean it.

    • LB says:

Ditto. My only fear is she will become overexposed and I will get annoyed. But so far, it hasn’t happened for me.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I think that once she finishes The Hunger Games Trilogy, then she will be left alone for the most part. From what we’ve seen of her, she’s not an interesting paparazzi target. With the exception of the pictures of her in Hawaii post Oscars-smoking a blunt, getting her wine on, the only other pap pics I see of her is coming from the gym. So unless she has the paps on speed dial by the end of the next two years (which I HIGHLY doubt), then she won’t be as visible. Unless, of course, she ends up in another franchise.

    • Liv says:

Makes three of us. I just love her!

    • Chicagogurl says:

Same here! She’s adorable and I covet her body. I would totally geek out over Jeff Bridges. I read his website all the time. He’s such a renaissance man and there aren’t too many of those left.

    • Nanz says:

I love her, too. So much. She seems like the real deal.

    • phlyfiremama says:

Ok. I only THOUGHT I loved her before, now I REALLY love her. She seems totally real~

    • Meaghan says:

Okay, I will finally admit. She is adorable. Slowly but surely she has made me like her. She has a banging body, great personality, seems funny as hell. And dragging her friend away like that in the video totally reminds me of something my best friend would do to me.

  2. Syko says:

    I love her.

  3. Daahling says:

    Love her!

  4. brin says:

I would dork out too…he’s awesome and so is she!

    • j.eyre says:

She held it together much better than I would have. Had I met him, there would have been more salivating and indiscernible words strung together at a rapid pace. I adore him.

    • gogoGorilla says:

I know! I was so annoyed that the guy in the green jacket was in the way, LOL.

  5. PHD Gossip says:

One celebrity who is genuine. Adorable. Totally adorable. Shewas raised well.

  6. paranormalgirl says:

She’s so darned cute. I also think she’s the real deal.

  7. Jennifer12 says:

Kristen Stewart, take notes. She’s talented, humble, and not a moody witch.

    • ALG says:

And doesn’t screw around with the married directors…

    • spiderkitty says:

Stop telling other women how they should behave.

      • ALG says:

Take your own advice and stop telling other people what to post on internet message boards.

      • spiderkitty says:

No, I won’t. I’m so tired of people comparing these two. They have different personalities, and the OP was implying that JLaw’s is better just because she appeals to a wider audience.

      • bumby says:

        LOL +1 @ALG

I was rooting for Riva during the Oscars. I mean I love Lawrence she’s a decent actress and her interviews always makes me laugh. Though the over adulation kinda gets annoying. So I get why some people dislike her.

I just don’t understand when people who obviously dislikes someone and yet they keep on wasting so much energy talking negatively about them. Just seems kind of tiring. Life is too short to try to convince people they should be enjoying something less than they do.

There have been a lot of JLaw articles here in the past few days and the same person keeps on singing the same tune and bashing her.

      • AmyLynne says:

So you’re down with sleeping with married dudes while you’re supposedly in a committed relationship, you’re down with being petulant and bratty? Just wanted to clarify what about Kristen Stewart you think can favorably be compared to Jennifer Lawrence.

      • ALG says:

@spiderkitty You sound very immature. Try harder not to be so hypocritical or you will get nowhere in life.

      • Jordan says:

@SpiderKitty agreed. I like JLaw’s personality more but she’s Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart is Kristen Stewart. Let them be who they are.

As for the cheating scandal, how long are people gonna hold that over her head? If Rob forgave her, I’m sure you can get over.

      • Bijlee says:

People need to lay off Kristin Stewart. I think she’s gotten the message that what she did was wrong. She’s gotten enough public backlash imo. It’s just disturbing now. I don’t like her. I never thought she was a talented actress, but even I’m tired of the constant KStew bashing. Especially since we have no idea what the dynamics of either relationship was. I’m not inclined to believe that Hollywood is into the monogamous relationships they ship to the public.

I too am also tired of the comparison. Not everyone can be the fun, pretty, down to earth, sweet, friendly, sassy, hilarious, tomboy but girly girl, hot, talented, self-deprecating, humble, honest, guys girl, but girls girl, etc etc etc girl that Jlaw is. Sorry. In that respect she really is one in a million because very few actresses of her generation have the capability of being that and talented.

Saoirse Ronan is my favorite. Watch I Could Never Be Your Woman. She’s a delight in that film…sorry I adore her and would have LOVED for her to be Katniss.

      • the artful dodger says:

I have to agree with spiderkitty and I’d probably feel the same way if I was JLaw. “Oh look, people werent bothered by me dorking out and accidentally being rude to someone who was interviewing me, phew. Oh whats that? Kristen Stewart should be more like me? WTF?”

    • Raquel says:

Stewart doesn’t need to take notes–I doubt she will be in the showbiz long enough to learn from them.

  8. GiGi says:

God, I love the Dude, too. So much.

And JLaw is a close second! So down to earth.

  9. Green Eyes says:

Love her! Love her genuiness… And her outfits are cute & suit her in these photos.

  10. minime says:

Oh well, I could only smile with this video. My opinion of her has changed a bit back and forward but I think it’s really impossible not to like her. She seems so genuine and down to earth and most of all, she seems to love her career and respect it…And she actually can act! She has my respect.

  11. MooHoo says:

    she just gets more beautiful.

  12. ALG says:

Love her. The best part of that clip though, is when Jeff says his fave movie is coming up: Out of the Furnace. That’s Christian Bale’s new movie and I have crazy high hopes for it.

  13. Buckwild says:

Maybe Jeff Bridges was there to promote RIPD? I loved her reaction. Seemed genuine and cute to me.

  14. mzizkrizten says:

Hasn’t she been quoted as saying she’s obese by Hollywood standards? She’s looks pretty thin here. Love her outfit.

    • kara says:

Probably been working out for the new X-Men movie considering the costume she’ll have to wear.

    • ALG says:

She’s been thinner since right before the Oscars. Some people say it’s because she was sick, but that was months ago and she’s still pretty thin. I never bought that anyway.

    • Raquel says:

I’ve noticed that she works out & drops weight for physically active roles, and tends to relax and gain the weight back when she doesn’t need to do physical performances. So, she might just have an X-men role figure.

I don’t really care about her weight–those comments of hers were made in retaliation to critics who had the nerve to call her fat (actually, the jackass used the term ‘baby weight.’ Note to jackasses everywhere: If you are going to say a grown woman is fat, using the expression ‘baby weight’ makes you look like a bigger asshole, not a smaller one). Now, people hone in on what she said whenever she drops pounds. Such is being a woman, I suppose.

Either way, she’s not necessarily ‘unattainably scrawny’ here, more of what a lot of women can attain by working out a couple hours every other day or so, plus figure-flattering clothes.

  15. cubfan 34 says:

    She has good taste.

  16. Andrea says:

I adore her. She’s still so young and it’s going to be great watching her grow up.

  17. m.h says:

i do like her but am getting a little tired.
the problem with these young stars coming out is they push them every damn year. no break. and it gets old fast.
    i.e. kristen stewart
i feel bad cuz jen has no choice and has to promote a hunger games movie every year.
i like that soarise ronan and emma watson go away for some time

  18. bumby says:

“Am I the only why dislike this overrated chick?”

LOL, just kidding I love her, but I’m pretty someone will post something like this in this thread sooner or later.

I remember one of her interviews during the Oscar luncheon for Winter’s Bone, and she was talking about taking the cookies with Jeff Bridges face on it. It was so cute, so I think this was genuine.

Can’t blame her the DUDE is so damn cool.

Here’s the link for the video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMWBfPrfeS4

    around 2:10 I think.

  19. Jules says:

Adorable!….Jennifer Lawrence finally got to meet The Dude!. Good for her!.

  20. blue marie says:

she has good taste, The Dude is awesome. had it been me in her situation I would have gotten gassy (nerves, so annoying) and run away..

  21. MissMoody says:

How beautiful is Lenny Kravitz? Too beautiful

  22. Laura says:

I think this girl and I would be the best of friends seriously. can someone make that happen?

  23. rosie says:

Omg The Dude abides, man. Id of passed out right after I lost all my pride

  24. Harpreet says:

    Damn, Ben Barnes is tall!

  25. mkyarwood says:

Our girl. I LOVE HER SANDALS.

  26. Lucy says:

Jen, Josh, Lenny, Ben and The dude all in one video? Yes, please! Love it. And she’s absolutely adorable.

  27. Alexandria says:

    I’m sick of her already….meh

  28. Amelia says:

I’m glad she went away for a while, the “Jlaw is so amazing” was getting too much. I don’t really follow her but she seems nice. The oscar fro Silver Linings was ridiculous though.. sorry jlaw fangirls!

    • spiderkitty says:

The “Jlaw is amazing” is getting ridiculous. I don’t get why I am supposed to like her and I watched all her movies. She’s not miles ahead and her contemporaries have done impressive things that she couldn’t pull off. She’s not pretty or elegant, she has no style, her personality is over the top and exhausting at times. This video is cute when you don’t realize she actually interrupted them, which IS disrespectful.

I’m trying to find superficial reasons to understand why I am supposed to like her but I can’t.

      • Sal says:

        +1

I find her incredibly annoying. And I do think a lot of it is just a show. I don’t understand why people think she’s the second coming. Her Oscar was bought and paid for with bullying and intimidation, and she was a terrible katniss, so I’m over it.

      • Lucy says:

Well, first off, you’re not supposed to like her if you don’t feel like doing it. But wow, shame on her for not being “pretty”, nor “stylish” enough for you. And she apologized for interrupting, in case you missed it.

      • mercy says:

She was good in Winter’s Bone. I don’t get the hype for Silver Linings, though. It’s not even the best David O. Russell film (though it may be his first with the Weinstein brothers, I don’t know.)

      • angie says:

you seem to think highly of your opinion *rolls eyes*
you sound repetitive and it’s rich coming you for chastising people for liking her when you have spent the majority of your persuading people that she is fake, untalented etc , you don’t even like her and yet, here you are being judgmental and continuing to say you don’t get why people like her so much
You are over sharing your opinion all over the place, we get it you don’t like her. But some people do and they have as much right to gush over her as they like it. JMO

      • Liv says:

Good god, Spiderkitty, what’s wrong with you? Kristen Stewart fan much? Or why do you bother to bash Lawrence over here?

If you don’t like her, fine, but it’s so ridiculous to say she isn’t pretty. Beauty is perceived differently, but there’s no way one can say she’s not pretty. Please.

      • spiderkitty says:

@Liv I am indifferent to Kristen Stewart because I’ve never seen Twilight or any of her movies, that’s why I don’t even bother with her posts, because I know nothing about her. Wheres JLaw is being pushed way too hard and I still don’t know why.

      • Liv says:

Maybe because she’s really talented? I mean even if you don’t like her you have to admit that she’s talented. Everybody has favorite actors/actresses, but what I don’t get is that some are unbelievably subjective.

I don’t like Kristen Stewart, but I’d never say she wasn’t beautiful because she is. Okay, I hate Rooney Mara and I don’t find her that beautiful, but I don’t think she’s ugly either.

What I want to say: feel free to not like Jennifer Lawrence, but saying that she has no talent or is not pretty is not true.

  29. Algernon says:

I don’t think her “aw shucks” shtick is fake, I think she is a pretty normal person from Kentucky. She has good work ethic and she’s generally pleasant.

But she does play to the public. That’s not a bad thing at all, but there’s a level of mugging involved. You think she doesn’t know how everyone will react to her running up to Jeff Bridges like that? Especially after what happened with Jack Nicholson at the Oscars? She knows. She makes choices about how she presents herself to the public. I don’t think she’s fabricating a personality, her persona is too consistent, but she’s definitely being deliberate about it. This isn’t really a complaint, though. She understands that being famous is just another kind of performance. But I think that’s what puts some people off. They pick up on the calculation.

    • mercy says:

Good points. I think this is what many actors do – they are in the business of show, after all – but some people are quick to scream “fake!” when they don’t like the actor (see: Hathaway, Anne.)

    • Bijlee says:

      This. +1

    • Eve says:

this, most likely. And if she doesn’t slow it down it’s going to become pretty obvious to everyone (running off once is cute, photobombing once awesome, but it’s becoming a pattern and she’s no longer ‘that girl’ from Winter’s Bone, it’s been three years, and even before that she did movies so…yeah). Her charming personality is her biggest asset, I don’t think she showed much range in the five films I’ve watched, so to remain A-game she will have to be really smart in the coming years, Oscar is no warrant, more of a curse for ladies 😉

  30. Hannah says:

I’m 100% J Law fan. You can tell she is a massive nerd. I would freak out like that if I was in the same room with Bridges!

  31. Liz says:

That was cute, I think I would freak out if I met the Dude as well.

  32. Linnythepooh says:

    I just love Jeff Bridges.

  33. mercy says:

I know I would be geeking out over Jeff. She has met him before, by the way, at the Oscars.

  34. K says:

Jeff, you dawg. I saw you give her the ol’ up and down at the end of that exchange.

  35. Kiddo says:

I really like The Dude and Jennifer Lawrence. They are two actors who, at least, seem like real salt of the earth people. Hopefully, it’s not just an illusion.

  36. Lisa says:

I don’t normally find her attractive, but the red carpet makeup makes her look really gorgeous.

  37. kibbles says:

She’s likable but it’s obvious how intelligent and professional she is for only a 22-year-old. I was still a timid girl at the age of 22. If she hadn’t become an actress, she would have still done very well in the corporate field. She knows how to schmooze, network, and come off as a likable person while definitely being calculated at the same time. There is nothing wrong with that. I do think she is overrated and shouldn’t have won the Oscar for her performance in SLP, but that isn’t her fault. She’s a pro and doing all the right things to stay at the top of her game.

    • Lark says:

IA. People are layered. She’s talented and pretty and mostly “real” imo. At the same time, that talent is overhyped a bit (so many film journalists lost their shit on twitter when she won over Riva) and she definitely knows how to play the “game” and schmooze and make all the right moves.

    • Skeptical At Best says:

I agree RE: winning the Oscar. I didn’t watch SLP until after the Oscars and I wasn’t impressed. I remember watching a clip of the movie Ms. Riva was nominated for before the awards. I got a serious case of goosebumps. Right then and there I thought it was a shame she was going to lose to Jennifer.

  38. Steph says:

I’m a Midwestern girl too and every time I see her I’m reminded of home. Love her!

    • Bijlee says:

She’s from the south. Kentucky is a southern state. Although I may be the only southerner that thinks so.

      • Stace says:

I’ll second you on that. I’ve got a lot of family in Kentucky..it’s definitely still the South : )

  39. Lark says:

Jeff Bridges is the bomb. JenLaw always struck me as one of those people who would be fun to hang with, but if you were with them 24/7 they would drive you nuts. Off topic, but her body looks amazing here. Also, I do have to wonder about how other celebrities feel about her bogarting their interview time/photo-bombing them. I remember her doing this at the Met Ball, too. I’m sure some of them find it amusing, but I wonder if one of them is eventually going to give her the side-eye when she interrupts them.

  40. Goef says:

I still don’t think she deserved an Oscar for SLP. But she is very likeable. I kinda like how despite winning an Oscar, she hasn’t changed like how Natalie Portman and Anne Hatheway did. Atleast she didn’t end up with a loser like Natalie did. I find it kinda funny how Portman thinks she is superior then most actress and is so smart, yet ended up with a total, ugly, loser gold-digger who will probably leave her. I remember Natalie hardly ever showed up to Comic-Con when SW was going on, and was trashing the SW fans too on talks shows saying they were weird . How rude, yet she had no problem taking the millions she made from the movies, and they gave her international fame. Without SW, she would not be famous. She would be a struggling 30 something actress without them and no Oscar either.

    • Raquel says:

Natalie Portman was always that far up her own butt; all her Oscar run did was take the Righteous personality she always had, put it on steroids, and make it public. People were just never allowed to say that she was a talentless hack with the personality of sandpaper (let’s face it–all her BS win did was prove that, if you stay in the biz long enough, the Academy will just give you the little metal man out of sheer embarrassment) until then. I mean you could air your feelings on a message board, but if you were a woman, you would get buried under comments saying you were ‘jealous of her perfection’, and if you were a man, that you were gay (I’m not painting Portman fans with the same brush, but, at least there used to be, a very fervent, very unlikeable segment of them).

As for Lawrence–her performance in SLP was as great as it always is, and she did a lot to prepare for it (at least Lawrence really did her own dancing, unlike, cough, someone), but the movie itself was hardly Oscar-worthy (as someone who struggles with PTSD and other anxiety disorders, I actually found it offensive and stupid). That’s why I thought it was weird. But, pretty much every other performance she’s given could have been Oscar worthy, so I can sort of ignore it…at least she deserved the recognition.

  41. gg says:

    Those emerald earrings are stunning!

  42. anet says:

I guess I should feel kind of bad for an older gal to say that I can’t stand this woman…not so much as an actress, but when it comes to doing interviews and not quite having it together before talking shit and bla bla bla…&&^%%$…all before whinging out on some poor actor..it’s too immature and a little feigned. She’s too vapid for someone who is too gitty. LIke the fashion though.

  43. Mrs.Darcy says:

I haven’t seen her Oscar performance yet. She was great in Winter’s Bone though and makes a good Katniss. I am getting a bit oversaturated at this point though. I do think she is sincere, she geeks out like a teenager which is sort of weird for her age and experience… I think at this point she know’s it’s cute, she needs to be careful or it will become cloying. It wouldn’t hurt if she took a breather. I know that is unlikely, though.

  44. Twez says:

I would totally dork out and call Jeff Bridges “Dude” if I met him in person.

  45. IrishGirl says:

This was awesome!….I adore Jennifer Lawrence. After I saw “Winter’s Bone”, I thought, damn, this young woman can act….good for her that she’s achieved all this success.

  46. Jules says:

I have been following Jennifer Lawrence’s films since “Winter’s Bone” and as I have said before, Lawrence consistently gives great performances. The fact that those critics who were championing Lawrence since 2008 (and I’m not talking about the big time critics who came around after “Winter’s Bone” rather, the ones who run the arthouse blogs)continue to maintain their opinion that Lawrence is one of the most talented young actresses working today. So, these are informed opinions and only reinforce my decision to follow Lawrence’s films.
