Jennifer Lawrence in the ‘Catching Fire’ theatrical trailer: are you excited?

Jennifer Lawrence

Lenny Kravitz is kind of a big deal on Facebook (not in the Anchorman sense but in a real one — Lenny has amassed 4.4 million likes). So when Lenny posted this photo of himself with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson at Comic-Con to his Facebook page, it quickly went viral. Liam Hemsworth was in attendance as well, but I like to think that this photo is Lenny’s way of showing that he is firmly in the Team Peeta camp.

Below, I’m including some photos of Jennifer, Josh, and some other cast members at the Catching Fire panel. And even though Kaiser is covering JLaw’s white dress at the X-Men panel in a separate post, I’m also throwing in some booty shots of JLaw in the dress … mostly because there are several people in these photos who can’t stop staring at her ass. That’s just too funny to ignore, but first, let’s talk about the new Catching Fire theatrical trailer that was revealed at the Con. Unlike the teaser trailer (which laid the groundwork for President Snow’s planned extermination of the victors), this trailer gets into the action-y aspects of the movie, and it’s very dramatic as well:

What do you think? I feel better about this sequel now that I’m not just seeing underwhelming character posters, but I don’t think this movie will carry the emotional intensity of the first Hunger Games even though it will definitely make a sh-load of money for Lionsgate. The arena (that is, what they’re showing of it) looks pretty cool, but I’d like to see more than a split second of Finnick. Why are they hiding him from us?

Now for some more pics. JLaw and Josh Hucherson posed together at Comic-Con. As you can see, Jennifer is showing off her midriff again, and I don’t blame her one bit. She looks a little bit awkward and sweaty here, but who cares? It’s Comic-Con.

Of course, Katniss had to put Peeta in a headlock too — because that’s just part of their relationship dynamic. She’s always stronger than he is, and Peeta coasts on his charm.

Willow Shields, who plays Primrose Everdeen, looked really cute and “prim” at the event. I can even forgive those plastic shoes because she’s otherwise perfect.

I don’t know what Jena Malone (Johanna) was thinking when she got dressed for this event, but I do know that her hair has seen much better days. Girl, go back to your natural color.

Here’s some bonus Lenny for the fangirls. Hot damn.

P.S. Here are those aforementioned photos of JLaw in the amazing white dress for the X-Men panel. As you can see, people cannot stop staring at dat ass.

If I had a butt like that I’d be as naked as legally possible.

  2. Lb says:

I loved her in the white dress she wore to the X men panel. She and Nicholas Hoult were often sitting or standing next to each other there and at the press conference. If they are not back on, it looks like they have managed to stay really cordial. .

As an aside, I was watching the panel and I loved Ian McKellan flirting with his younger counterpart, Michael Fassbender.

  3. Elle says:

Great bum! Why the fuck does she dress so bad though? Isn’t Rachel Zoe her stylist?!!

  4. Tony says:

Lmao. She looks like a nordic sasquatch.

Poor Josh Hutcherson has to stand next to her. LOL!

    He is TINY.

    • pretty says:

it’s more like she is tall.

At least, for to be Katniss.

If any of you have read the three books, you would know that the author constantly reminds us how Katniss is small and short that she can climb tall trees like a monkey.

at the first hunger game when she tries to avoid Cato group and at the catching fire book when ((probably spoiler)) she snuck out to the woods and then she met two women from district 8 there and then when she tries to come back through the barbed wire, the electricity was charged so she had to climb trees again etc etc

i just.. jennifer lawrance was a total miscast! josh is sooo peeta, i think but she is so… tall and strong looking.

    • Lucy says:

Without heels, she’s exactly the same height as him, haha. But he doesn’t really seem to mind the fact the she’s towering over him. He’s owning it to me.

  5. Anna says:

I really liked the trailer, and I hope the movie does better capturing the tone and the mind-f*ck nuances of the book than the first film did. If I hadn’t read the books first, I really doubt I would have ‘gotten’ the whole ‘fake it and play to the crowds’ aspect of Katniss/Peeta strategy, which was central to the story.

    • CC says:

For what it’s worth, I saw the movie first and got it, when Haymitch said “being in love with that boy will get you sponsors” bit. Plus when Haymitch was going about with game maker about something to root for.

    • Sixer says:

I was SO disappointed by the film in comparison to the book – I do a lot of work in YA lit – so I don’t know if I’ll even watch this one. And Hunger Games isn’t even my favourite of the dystopian tidal wave. There’s the Patrick Ness books that have won the Carnegie twice in the more upmarket area and the zombie books by Jonathan Maberry in the commercial zone. I’d rather see either of those filmed. Shame, because I like J Law.

      • Hillshmill says:

Sixer – please post a couple more of your YA dystopian lit recommendations! I’m looking for summer reading and having the hardest time finding books that I love. I’m going to check out the Ness books you mentioned, for sure.

      • Gretchen says:

Patrick Ness. Yes!!!! The Chaos Walking Trilogy is one of the best series I have ever read.

      • Sixer says:

Happily! (Many of these series are British but all should be available easily). Author > series title > main theme.

Patrick Ness: Chaos Walking (off Earth)
Jonathan Maberry: Rot & Ruin (zombies)
Kat Falls: Dark Life (under the sea)
Malorie Blackman: Noughts & Crosses (racism)
Peadar O Guilin: The Inferior (cannibalism/Truman Show)
Robin Wasserman: Skinned (life outside the body)
        Gemma Malley: Declaration (population growth)
        Ilsa Bick: Ashes (post apocalypse)

      • Anna says:

Am I the only one who craves something happy and cheerful from my fiction?

      • Sixer says:

Oh, I like all sorts. But dystopia is the new vampire/werewolf insofar as YA fiction is concerned.

My best happy book: Fup, by Jim Dodge.

      • Little Darling says:

What about Divergent by Veronica Roth. I recently took a train from Seattle to LA and could not put those books down. Loved them!

        Also:
Matched by Ally Condie (arranged govt. marriages in perfect world)
Uglies (dystopian society where extreme plastic surgery is norm) by Scott Westerfeld
Partials (fatal disease only cured by finding connection between humans and Partial enemies)by Dan Wells
Graceling (Katsa is a young warrior) by Kristin Cashore.

  6. Andrea says:

That trailer looks great! Just how I pictured the arena!

    • RocketMerry says:

It does look great! I’m super excited about this, Jennifer Lawrence seems to do a really good job in it; and to think I used to dislike her.

    • Liv says:

Oh my god, I’m so excited! The trailer looks great! I liked the first film, but they left so much of the story out, especially in the end. I hope the next one gets it better!

  7. Winnie says:

I can’t wait to see this! And I am SO in love with her. And the boys.

  8. spiderkitty says:

The movie looks slighty better than the first one. This one reminds me of some Star Wards scenarios but I guess every sci-fi movie looks like SW lol.

As to JLaw, I don’t get why I have to love her but I like that white dress she’s wearing.

  9. Buckwild says:

I still can’t believe they picked Jena and the other guy to play Johanna and Finnick when it says clearly in the books how modelesque and smoldering good looking they are. . Guess I should wait to see how it translates on film but the promo shots haven’t been that great.

  10. Birdie says:

Her body looks amazing!! I think she lost some weight. So jealous.

    • CC says:

Nah, it’s not from weight loss, it’s from hitting the gym. Looks toned.

      • spiderkitty says:

So she was hitting the gym instead of eating cheetos? HOW DARE SHE! That’s not what normal people do, normal people never work out. Not my girl-next-door anymore.

  11. aang says:

    No.

  12. Andrew says:

Heck yeah I’m excited for the movie. Even though the first one isn’t exactly ‘the best thing ever’ to me, I still enjoyed it and thought they did a good job of adapting from the book…making it enjoyable for fans but without confusing audiences who haven’t read the books. This one looks better to me. Also have you seem the first posters that came out? They are Soooo much better than the recent posters.

  13. Arjuna says:

Holy shit Jennifer Lawrence has an amazing figure!. I mean, you could bounce a quarter off that fabulous ass. I loved the trailer!….everything looks great, I just want November 22, to hurry the hell up.

  14. Diana says:

Wow, nice ass, indeed. That girl’s body is sick (in the awesome sense of the expresion). I don’t know about this movie; the first one was a major let down for me, but I guess fortunately for this one I can fully ignore that J-Law was too fuller in the face for the role in the first place; now I can pretend she spend her time at home eating good and properly.

  15. JenD says:

I now want to re-read the series before the movie comes out.

  16. Talie says:

I usually like Jena Malone, but in everyone interview I watched and even the panel, that girl was tweaked out. Very hyper.

  17. minime says:

Wow!! She looks awesome in that white dress!

I’m so much looking forward for “Catching Fire”! Specially now that Game of Thrones is (again) on a break…
I didn’t read the books so I don’t know if the movies are such a good adaptation, but when I saw Hunger Games I was expecting something average and I ended up liking it a lot. Hope this one is as good.

  18. Sel says:

I love JLaw. I wasn’t sold when she was cast because she didn’t fit the look as Katniss was described in the book. BUT- after seeing the first movie, I thought she pulled it off. Sure, she’s taller than described, but she pulled off the acting and I loved her in it. I also wasn’t convinced Liam and Josh were cast right, but watching the movie, they became those characters.

I didn’t love the first movie though. I thought the book was better because the book could take it’s time explaining things. I also didn’t like the filming method used. I hate shaky camera work. But the second movie has a different director and the trailer looks awesome. I am really looking forward to seeing it when it comes out.

And JLaw has an awesome body. She works hard for it too. She seems so grounded too.

  19. Garrett says:

The trailer looks good. So yeah, I would go watch it.

  20. IrishGirl says:

I’m really looking forward to THG: Catching Fire, the trailer looks great and Jennifer Lawrence is a terrific Katniss. Oh, and because this bears repeating: Holy Mary Mother of God, Jennifer Lawrence has an incredible figure!!. I can’t stop staring at her ass!.

  21. Reece says:

They gave away the dress! Argh!

  22. Veenz12 says:

Movie looks great, J. Law and Josh are their usual charming selves. And, hot damn, Jennifer’s body.

  23. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

The 1st movie was utter crap, but this trailer makes me think the sequel will be better. It can’t be any worse than the first one though, surely.

  24. Alyce says:

She looks great in that dress and I like the trailer too! Wowzers, I want my behind to look like that!
