Was Anne Hathaway’s ‘Got Milk’ ad canceled because of lactose intolerance?

Here are some photos of Anne Hathaway taking a morning hike with some girlfriends yesterday in the Hollywood Hills. A few things: one, I like that Anne has girlfriends and that they go for hikes as a group. Two, I’m impressed with Anne’s booty. She has a cute booty! I’ve never really noticed that before. Three, I’m pretty sure she’s going commando under those compression capris or whatever. Four, those pants are so fug. Truly.

Anyway, apparently it’s still a thing to hate on poor Annie. This poor woman. She’s an Oscar-winner and she can’t enjoy it because people look at her and think “Annoying. Oscar Beav. Nipple Dress. Try-Hard.” But I still like Annie. And she’s trying to get more people to like her too, allegedly. All of this is “allegedly”. Star Magazine claims that Annie is “so desperate” for public acceptance that she wants to be the newest face of the oh-so-wholesome Got Milk? campaign.

Except there seems to be a problem (allegedly). Apparently, Annie is lactose intolerant and she’s said so publicly, so her campaign “was abruptly canceled” because her lactose intolerance is “off-message”. Fortunately, Annie’s rep (doesn’t she share representation with Jennifer Aniston?) went to Gossip Cop and said that Annie never had any plans to do a Got Milk campaign. Huh. Suspicious.

Dear Annie: You know what would get you back into everyone’s good graces? Make a good movie and then have a baby. Seriously. That’s all you really need to do.

I don’t think it’s so much lactose intolerance as it is AnnE intolerance.

  2. Andrea says:

She looks good here! She seems to finally, finally be getting her old, curvy pre-Catwoman (bc she was starving herself for Catwoman before the Les Mis situation made it ten times worse) body back! Right? Am I seeing things?

This is the Annie I like. I missed this Annie.

    • Schnee says:

Yes, yes! First thing I noticed. Starvey-Anne is no more.
I love her new, fuller legs and bosom. I always envied her old body and it seems to creep back, yay.

  3. Sixer says:

I don’t care about Anne at all, really.

But this is the severalth time I’ve seen an urban fitness walk described as a hike hereabouts. Is this US usage? A hike to me is an energetic walk that takes place on rough terrain, or in the countryside, at least.

    • Steph says:

This is the hiking I grew up with living near a large city but my husband and I recently took a trip to the poconos and now we differentiate between hiking and “real hiking” haha

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

“Hike” has the same meaning here, but in LA you can easily access areas with very steep hills and rough terrain. Maybe that’s what they were doing, although you can’t tell it from the pictures.

I don’t care about Anne, either, but I thought the title was funny.

    • Sixer says:

Funny, isn’t it? To me, you can go for a run anywhere, but you can only go for a hike if it’s up hill, down dale, and on GRASS!

    • kim says:

Urban hiking so ppl can tell their friends they’re outdoorsy and love to hike…it’s hilarious !!

    • Bridget says:

I’m assuming that what we see is actually the parking lot, not the hike part. I live in an area with a lot of hiking trails (real ones, in the mountains) and they all still have roads that get there and parking lots at the base.

    • Lauren says:

There are lots of great hiking trails in LA, real bits of wilderness in the city. The Hollywood Hills are HILLS after all.

I am pretty sure this story is BS. When ER was at the height of it’s fame, Sherry Stringfield did a Got Milk add, which referenced her lactose intolerance and advised to talk to your doctor about milk and how much you can drink, if any at all.
Either Anne never was doing a Got Milk ad or there are other reasons why it did not happen, can’t blame the fact that she’s lactose intolerant on that.

  5. blackblackblack says:

    I thought she was vegan.

  6. blue marie says:

this seems stupid. even if it were true just because she’s lactose intolerant means she doesn’t know how important calcium is for the bones? whatever, stop making me feel sorry for her.

  7. Laura says:

I like her I disn’t follow her on the oscar trail, so I had no reason to be annoyed. I like her with the long curly Love and other drugs hair tho. I really liked that movie. Maybe it was all the naked Gyellhaal?(sp).

  8. Sarah says:

    Nasty camel toe!

    • Steph says:

Yea what’s with not wearing underpants. I have seen so much camel toe in yoga class and it just grosses me out.

    • Chicagogurl says:

Right? Is your crotch hung-gar-ray girl cuz it’s eatin yo pants!

  9. insomniac says:

I like her — never got all the hate. And I doubt like hell a vegan would do a “Got Milk” ad, so I believe her rep on this one.

And I agree that she’s looking good here.

  10. Marianne says:

I love Anne and never stopped. I know you say she has to “make a good movie” but she has made plenty in my book. I’m not saying everything she has done has been good or interesting, but she has made a lot of good movies. And I loved her most recent ones (Les Mis and Dark Knight Rises). She’s in Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar” next year and I am looking forward to it.

  11. Daria says:

Not sure that I agree with the whole “make a good movie and have a baby” thing. Do you know how annoying she’d be if she got pregnant? Going to all magazines, it’d be another relentless campaign.

Her body sucks. Flabby with no tone.

  12. Kara says:

Does girlfriend know she’s got major camel toe-age goin on? …..*awkward*…

  13. lisa says:

those milk ads gross me out, i cant look at them

  14. msw says:

The got milk ads are more than just gross, they’re incorrect, and they know it. Milk is a terrible source of calcium because milk also has lots of protein, which binds to calcium. The industry actually got sued over their “drink milk lose weight” campaign. And they lost. They have duped millions of people with an extremely successful marketing gimmick.

    • SouperKay says:

      +1,000
Dairy milk is made to grow baby cows. While it is not outright poison to humans, it is not good for you either.

    • Lauren says:

Almond milk has 50% more calcium than cow’s milk!

Cow’s milk is for baby cows, human milk is for baby humans, etc… I don’t know why that is so hard for people to grasp.

  15. Yelly says:

Can she just go away already, I’m sick of her face.

  16. Bodhi says:

Have a baby to get back in the public’s good graces? Thats insane, what century are we in?

I’m not a fan, but she has been lying low since the Oscar onslaught, she gets credit for that

  17. Veeeeery Veerytas says:

    Got Lactaid?

  18. TherapyCranes says:

Her booty is not cute. Her pants are fug. I like milk in tea.

  19. poppy says:

    those blue tie-dye exerpants- NO.
unless emphasizing the labia, making the crotch look sweaty or worse, like urine is involved, and taking 6″ off one’s height are the intended effect.
    just NO.

  20. Vampi says:

    I’m sorry..but Annie’s butt is FUG! Ack!

  21. Amy says:

Lactose intolerant people CAN drink milk, just not the kind from cows. We strictly buy Lactaid milk in my house now for my sister who has been lactose intolerant since birth, I have gotten used to it over the years I don’t think twice about it. The Got Milk ad campaign does not discriminate people who are lactose intolerant, they also have options! There is also soy milk, etc. This story is so stupid!
