Tracy Anderson, liar: ‘There needs to be more emphasis on all different body shapes’

YIKES. These are some newish photos of Death Eater Tracy Anderson at Tuesday’s night Us Weekly event for the “Most Stylish New Yorkers”. To avoid looking directly into her eyes, I’ve become fascinated with her pendant. What is that? A topaz? If anyone knows, holler. The rest of the look… well, let’s just say that fashion isn’t her thing. While Tracy was at the event, she spoke to The Cut about her favorite show, Girls, and how Tracy is all about body-diversity on television. O RLY?!!?!?!!? No, I have to say that again: O RLY?!

Last night, Us Weekly hosted their annual Most Stylish New Yorkers event at Harlow, where trainer Tracy Anderson enthusiastically gossiped about her celebrity clients, including Lena Dunham.

“Girls is my favorite TV show,” she gushed to the Cut. “I love it. I think that it’s honest, and the writing is smart. We’ve needed something like that. I don’t watch any television [but] I watch that show.” Does she train all the actresses? “I send trainers to the set,” she said. “But I will tell you that [Lena]’s not allowed to transform her body right now. [Girls] producer Jenni Konner is a diehard client of mine and a dear friend, so we joke, and she says, ‘You can’t transform her yet.'”

But there’s still time! “Yes, I could transform her and I could transform her character. I was on the show – her character was doing my DVDs in an episode last season,” she said. “She does work out!” In the meantime, she likes seeing “diverse” bodies on TV. “One of the things I can’t stand the most is all the fashion magazines where all the women look exactly the same,” she continued. “I train everyone from Jennifer Lopez to Gwyneth Paltrow, you know, and I’m a totally different body type. I think there needs to be more emphasis in art and entertainment and fashion on all different body shapes.”

Speaking of which, she claims to have laid eyes on Kim Kardashian post-birth. “Yes. Little North is beautiful, she’s got the most beautiful skin,” she gushed. And Kim’s not killing herself in the gym, contrary to tabloid reports. “She’s just taking time with the baby. She’s not concerned with working out or anything. Amazing. So connected. I knew she was going to be a great mom when I trained her during pregnancy.”

When asked if any of her New York clients have been skipping classes during Fashion Week, she looked horrified. “I don’t think anybody would skip a workout this week. They’re more like in the gym early, to get their sweat before they do hair or makeup or anything like that. This is not a week to skip the gym. I taught a master class this morning and it was like packed to the walls.”

[From The Cut]

Maybe she’s telling the truth – she likes body diversity on TV. But not in real-life. To be fair, I don’t believe that she’s telling her clients that they all need to have Gwyneth Paltrow’s “disaster body”. But she is telling them all the same thing: that their current bodies suck, that they have significant problem areas, that she pities them and their fatness, but if they work with her, she’ll put them on a program that is all about how they look, not how they feel or how healthy they are. Because Tracy only cares about the superficial. So here’s what Tracy should have said: “I think there needs to be more emphasis in art and entertainment and fashion on all different body shapes… unless they’re fatties.” Fixed!

Death Eater? A HP reference? I love you, Kaiser.

    Her face freaks me out.

  2. Erinn says:

I can’t look at this woman and envy her body. Nothing about it. It wouldn’t inspire me to get into shape with her, and her attitude is such a turnoff as someone you’d want to trust your health with.

  3. rianic says:

I have a friend who does the TA series of work outs – and we belly is nice and flat. However, she has had lipo and implants. Anyway – I worry because she also has her 12 year old doing TA with her. In what world is that healthy???? She’s always posting about it on FB that she’s done an hour of it than ran x# miles….

    End rant

    • hadleyb says:

Wait, the work out or the whole diet / workout program at 12?

I think working out, being active is GREAT for any child as today’s society we are not as active as we once were or should be.

There is nothing wrong teaching kids about eating healthy and working out but I find her DIET program way too restrictive for anyone much less a kid.

I hope this mom is doing it right because that is the perfect age to really mess with a girls head about her body/eating habits and future problems unless you do it the right way.

    • Becky says:

I have a little cousin who is nine, and not only do a lot of her classmates diet (some are already neurotic w food!) and one of them goes on the treadmill with a trainer before school. They don’t even know multiplication by 3 yet. How f’ing crazy is that?!

    • lauren says:

That´s just wrong on so many levels! Sure kids should be active but I rather see them doing a sport they like and have fun with it, than working out in front of a tv. Not to mention beeing on a diet..

    • coe says:

TA made a kids version for tweens, you know that stage in life where puberty and hormones wreck havoc on little girls as they start to develop into young women.. My little 12 year old niece gained 50 pounds, on a 5’4″ frame in 12 months. Her mom freaked out when her pediatrician said she was now obese, and I told her she needed to start playing sports, and swimming in the pool, and suggested they buy Wii and start doing fun dance games. fastforward another year, my niece has dropped 30 pounds, and thankfully grew 1.5 inches.

    I’d say it’s amber.

  5. Mrs. Peacock says:

Why did she wear a bridesmaid’s dress to this event?

  6. LadyJane says:

Um. So she wants to “transform” Lena. She wants to ‘get her hands on her’. But she is pro-body diversity?! That makes no sense! I guess she is pro-body diversity so long as said body fits into some category of media-accepted generic beauty + sub 15% body fat. This woman.

Too bad about Tracey’s own looks. I guess there is no exercise or plastic surgery that will give you a neck.

  7. Lem says:

Pilates shaped, crossfit shaped, taebo shaped, fast twitched shaped, Tracy Anderson ballet knock off shaped
She means all the shapes from Goop’s stick figure to JLo’s curves and ‘all the shapes in between” she doesn’t mean all the shapes you’ll find at walmart

    • springingforward says:

Right. That’s what she hopes we believe she means, and that it will erase the past 15 years of body-shaming, nutrition advice that would horrify any physician or dietician and fraud that was committed against numerous pre-fame clients and business partners where she blew town with their money.

  8. Lucy2 says:

The necklace isn’t topaz- it’s where she keeps all the crushed soles of her clients.

If she’s truly for diversity of bodies on tv- she wouldn’t be counting the minutes until she can transform Lena. I don’t care for Lena, but I hope she stays away from this fraud for her own health and mental well being.
Also, if she doesn’t watch TV (yeah sure) how did she know that it needed a “smart” show?

  9. Feebee says:

No, you’re not listening. She said body shapes. Not body fat readings. You can be boy shaped, pear shaped, hour-glass shaped but you can’t be round shaped.

  10. Nanz says:

I laste less than a day on her “diet.” I’m desperate to lose some weight, but I felt so…discouraged and deflated that I couldn’t even make it one day on her stupid diet. It’s less than 60 oz. (either 53 or 58oz, can’t remember) of pureed food per day for one week. After that, I think you get to incorporate solids, but FCS! I can’t live on pureed sweet potatoes and corn for a week (among other things). Anyway, I’m done ranting. I just need something that I can feel good about and this plan isn’t it.

    • blue marie says:

don’t get discouraged Nanz, keep at it, you’ll find something to suit you. Hell, only an ant can survive on her diet..

      • Nanz says:

Thank you, blue marie. It’s nice to have some encouragement. I’ll keep at it, but just not the way Tracy Anderson would want me to. 😉

    • Macey says:

There isnt anything “good” about her plan. Consider yourself lucky you didnt last on it b/c the only thing that would have done is slowed your metabolism to the point where you would gain weight just eating a normal meal. Her “methods” do nothing but make your body have to be on a diet for the rest of your life b/c of what it does to your metabolism. Why do you think everyone she works out with never eats and is always on a new diet or fad cleanse type thing. I highly recommend someone like Denise Austin. She preaches healthy over skinny minnies and follows and 80/20 rule when it comes to diet and only works out 1/2 hr a day but is always CONSISTENT. Consistency with eating healthy and getting some exercise in daily is the key. It wont be a fast weight lost but the results will last and you’ll be able to actually enjoy your meals.

      • Nanz says:

Thank you so much, Macey. THIS is what I’m looking for – a consistent, healthy lifestyle change. I run, I walk my dog, I’m active with my young kids. But I just can’t lose the weight I’ve gained since having my second child. I just want to get rid of the flab, and Tracy Anderson’s method is not for me. Thanks for your encouragement. I’ll check out Denise Austin.

      • Macey says:

Dont give up! like I said, slow and steady is best for long lasting results. Ive followed Denise since the 80’s, the woman is 56 and looks amazing. Its not just her body but all over from healthy eating and fun exercise. Her videos are also very easy to follow and low impact. She has a FB and also youtube videos under BeFit, just search her name. Lost of full workouts free on there and on her website.

      • snakecharmer says:

to macy and the poster who is struggling with weight i hear you ladies. im a bad yo-yo dieter. i have clothes from like size six to 12. the denise austin mention is something that works for me. her dvd called “mat workout based on pilates” is broken down into two 20 min. segments and it will rip your abs up with a quickness. its the one with blue lettering on the cover. i highly recommend it to anyone. shes got a team who has complied the most effective moves into a short, doable workout. its cheap to snag on amazon

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Hang in there, Nanz! I’m dieting, too, and it’s so hard. My heart goes out to you. Just take it slow and make a few changes at a time. Good luck, girl!

    • Annie says:

Don’t feel discouraged. Just keep trying. To see permanent results you need to make real changes, big ones. A few weeks of healthy-ish dieting and some work outs are not going to erase years of bad habits. It is possible. I couls go on and on about how I changed my lifestyle and really changed how I look, but the only advice I can give you is: don’t give up, try different things, don’t be too hard on yourself and be patient, give up on everything that you know is bad for you FOREVER. For me it was soda. Made all the difference. Not a sip in 3 years!!

    • LadyJane says:

This is going to sound like and ad, but it’s not. I do the Fast Diet, 500 calories for 2 days a week, normal whatever eating for the other days. It changed my life. I know people will just say “Eat healthily 100% of the time!” but I was never going not have cake, wine, bread etc in my life. I have lost about 20 lbs since I started in June. I swore I would never diet. But now i do. 2 days a week. And it has made all the difference to me. Maybe you should look it up. (same as 5:2 diet).

  11. ilove6kies says:

…not even going to comment on this disaster of a human being…

I make jewelry and the stone looks like it could be a Beer Quartz, not topaz.

  12. Kiddo says:

I had to read the article to find out who she is. And the answer is someone I can ignore.

  13. Frida_K says:

She needs to get her roots touched up. That hairline looks ghastly.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Some people, including me, really can’t wear their hair slicked back that way. I believe she’s one of us.

      • Frida_K says:

On some folks, it’s just roots. Happens to the best of us and all that.

On others, it looks like their meanness is just oozing out of their pores to the extent that it affects the color of their hair. That kind of person needs regular touch-up to cover it up. Kind of like how they also need to make sure that their forked tail and horns are hidden before they leave the house each morning.

She’s in the second category, obviously.

        😉

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        Hahaha! Obviously!

  14. Atlantapug says:

It’s so obvious that this woman has had major procedures done to her face and breasts at the very least. So no, I wouldn’t take any advice from her on embracing all body types.

  15. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Girls is her favorite show on TV. She doesn’t watch TV, except for Girls. So it’s her favorite. See? Can you say “box of rocks?”

    • j.eyre says:

I was going to comment on the TV comment to:

“I don’t watch any television [but] I watch that show.””

So you do watch TV, just not much. I hate when people misuse language to try and make a stupid point. I f you are going to misuse use language, have a decent point.

  16. Happyhat says:

Why isn’t Jillian Michaels on here more? I like Jillian Michaels. Although, I guess Tracy is a proper hard-core Hollywood fitness guru – as in she’s full of shit and nonsense.

    I’d like to bitch-slap Tracy Anderson with a 3lb weight…

  17. poppy says:

she said she liked the writing on “girls” and does not like the fact all models look the same (tall because she’s short). she still thinks 0% body fat is the goal we should all be striving for.
she needs to go back to the bridge she climbed out from under and take some of her clients with her.

  18. Laura says:

Whenever I see her, all I can think of is Hoggle from the Labyrinth.

  19. maggie brown says:

    That’s a tiger’s eye stone.

  20. CPWbroad says:

The muppet is wearing a smokey Quartz.

  21. LilyT says:

The necklace is clearly a Horcrux.

  22. MBP says:

See, when I read that quote about Lena all I heard was “Oh, haha, yes I can fix that monstrosity, but I’m not allowed to yet”.

    STFU woman. Ugh.

  23. Emily C. says:

She is a vile con artist whose advice is ridiculously unhealthy, both physically and psychologically. People would be better off eating McDonald’s every day, because at least then they wouldn’t be starving themselves. I like the pendant though. It does look like topaz. But it could also be costume jewelry.

    • Maddie says:

Better off eating junk food? Sorry but while I don’t 100% agree with Tracey’s program you sound totally ignorant about nutrition. It is NOT just a matter of calories when it comes to a healthy diet, it’s also about micro and macro nutrients – the correct balance of fats (such as linoleic acid and DHA/EPA), proteins and minerals (like chromium, copper, iron, molybdenum). A lower calorie diet may still have plenty of these things whereas a high calorie diet may be nutrient poor (one can be “well fed” but malnourished), generally junk foods simply have too many useless calories. You can prepare your own beef burgers at home that are soooo much healthier than McDonald’s.

  24. Crabcake says:

Her workouts are amazing. AMAZING. I had a killer pregnancy body as well because of this lady. Her diet is lacking in calories but its a temporary, lose weight to fit in that dress for your sister’s wedding kind of diet. Its not a lifestyle by any means.

  25. CherylR says:

The necklace is either smoky quartz or maybe a brown diamond.

But given how large, pretty and sparkly it is, I am betting on smoky quartz.

Most brown diamonds would lack that fire. And would be more poop colored.

And just reading Tracy Anderson’s words makes me wonder if she is on mission to steal souls… just wondering.

  26. Mandy says:

Dear Lord, she is so not attractive. She looks so old and fragile. Give that girl some milk and cookies.

  27. MissMary says:

Maybe, by body diversity, she just means height. She has to, if she’s calling bodies like Paltrow’s “old” body a “disaster”. Any time I see TA, I think of Madonna’s scary arms since Madge was a devotee of TA for a while.

  28. Lisa says:

“But I will tell you that [Lena]’s not allowed to transform her body right now”

That is straight up, 40s MGM shit in reverse.

  29. Walt Jr says:

“Whatever, big head”. Sorry, watched Seinfeld re-runs lat night.

  30. ncmagnolia says:

Ugh, I just can’t with this woman.

Thanks a lot for giving us GOOP’s “ass like a 22 year old stripper” line. You should burn in hell for giving Gwynnie that sound bite alone.

  31. starrywonder says:

The necklacke is made of cat’s eye. You can see it a bit better in the second picture. The first makes it look as if it is a smoky topaz.

  32. EG says:

She looks coked to the gills.

  33. LaurieH says:

Tracy advocates one body shape: stick. She is not going to age well.

  34. Relli says:

Can you believe I have never had a DAHNCING lesson!

  35. madchen says:

Doesn’t this creature have a home under a bridge somewhere? She’s such a lying sack of crap. She actually attempted to take credit for the success of Soul Cycle, among other exercise programs.

  36. anet says:

i’d rather look like her than lena…but ah fair enough.

  37. Jolene says:

I feel like she’s going to eat my soul.. That look!

  38. j. says:

    Totally a smoky quartz.
