Lady Gaga wore a mustache & a furry headpiece in Berlin: exhausting & try-hard?

wenn20789616

As I keep telling you, you need to pay attention to Lady Gaga. If you don’t pay attention to her antics and her gimmicks, she will just die! She’s doing everything she can possibly think of to get your attention. Do you want wigs? She’s got wigs! Do you want crazy costumes? She’s got those! Do want melodramatic, hyper-narcissistic pronouncements about how great she is? She can do that. Do you want mustaches and furry headpieces? Sure! PLEASE PAY ATTENTION. Gaga is wilting away! Anyway, these are some photos of Gaga in Berlin yesterday. The furry headpiece thing was just her “going out on the town” day-look. The bra, panties, garter and coat look was her official costume for last night’s ARTPOP listening party. While at the listening party, she spoke to MTV (commence eye-rolling now):

Lady Gaga brought her ARTPOP to Berlin on Thursday (October 24), when she gathered her Little Monsters at the city’s Berghain Club to give them an acoustic performance of “Gypsy” and answer their most pressing questions.

And, in true Gaga fashion, it was all quite over-the-top. Gaga rocked a black bra, wore a mustache on her face and her body was covered in glitter. And even though she was speaking in a German-sounding accent, we were still able to get some album details from her extensive Q&A with fans.

“I feel like in a way ARTPOP — as an idea — it was an answer to every question about my music up until this point,” she said, later adding, “ARTPOP, of course, like with any album you can choose to listen any songs you want to listen to, but if you truly want to experience what I composed for you, you listen from start to finish. It’s a journey. It was designed to be played as a piece.”

Gaga also gave the full story behind her newly minted second single, “Do What U Want,” featuring R. Kelly.

“Well actually I’ve been living in Chicago and spending a lot of time there, and that’s where R. Kelly hails from. I was working on ARTPOP and I wrote [‘Do What U Want’] on tour. It was about my obsession with the way people view me,” she said. ‘I have always been an R. Kelly fan and actually it is like an epic pastime in the Haus of Gaga that we just get f—ed up and play R. Kelly. This is a real R&B song and I [said ‘I] have to call the king of R&B and I need his blessing.’ It was a mutual love. He’s a very, very, very talented man. I’m so excited to be on this album with him.”

And, in true, Gaga fashion she waxed rather philosophical about her third studio album.

“You know, I think immortality is at the center of a lot of creation of art, like this is an issue for the artist always: ‘How do I last forever?’ What I would say is ARTPOP is also about iconography but not iconography in repetition like art pop but iconography in motion, ARTPOP. So my desire is to create iconic imagery that moves always,” she said. “It is giving a voice to the muse, not just to the artist, but both.”

She also had a message for all her fans out there. “There is one thing you can do to impress me, if you can be kind to one another with everything you have. I know it is very popular to be shady now, I f—ing hate this bulls—. So stop. The Internet is not reality,” she said. “Be kind to one another and love one another and be accepting and be positive.”

[From MTV]

First of all, this is all you need to know about Gaga: “It was about my obsession with the way people view me.” That’s it in a nutshell. She’s not obsessed with being a better person or a better artist or a more original songwriter or creating her own original iconography. She’s obsessed with how people view her and judge her. That’s it. Also: “It is giving a voice to the muse, not just to the artist, but both.” She’s saying that she’s her own muse, right? She’s an artist and muse all rolled into one, because it’s really just about Gaga kissing her own ass and telling everyone how brilliant she is.

And she only hates the Internet now that “the Internet” has turned on her a few times. She didn’t hate the Internet when her little monsters were trolling and criticizing Adele.

This, I get. It’s props to the old Berlin Cabaret. This is somewhat artful, in my opinion. But no need for real fur.

    • Lindy79 says:

      Agree on both points.

    • babythestarsshinebrite says:

      +1

    • Annie says:

Somewhat agree, but I do wonder how many anti-fur people would still hold that opinion were fur cheap-ish and readily available to average income people. While I can appreciate their point, I think there is a streak of sour grapes in there. Maybe I’m just cynical though.

      • Denise says:

You could be right. I’d like to think that wouldn’t be the case, though, and that people really do care about animals. (Though I don’t really trust the PETA people, to be honest.)

      • Annie says:

@ Denise – I think some are truly, really genuine. Unfortunately I also think the bulk of them are simply acting from a point of “rich person bashing” aka jealousy plain and simple. Not only would these people be wearing fur were it cheaper, but even worse, they would be mocking those who chose not to out of true sensitivity towards animals as hippie weidos who need to “loosen up and eat a burger”, like they do vegans. Personally I don’t have a problem with vintage furs, or furs from farm-raised animals, but I do have a big problem with trapping. However I don’t try to force that opinion onto others.

  2. Eleonor says:

    This is pathetic.
She is a parody of herself: this is not weird Gaga, this is a clown.
People like to call Madonna desperate these days, and she is, BUT she has reached the desperation for attention after 30 freaking years. All the other popstars after 3 years are over.

  3. merski says:

Poor Gaga. Nobody gives a crap anymore… That must be a real hardship!

    • Jennifer says:

It’s real pain and suffering. You know she can’t get over it how Miley and her tongue overshadowed her and her (f)art. BTW she looks so plastic recently. I’m sure she had some major nip/tuck in last few months.

      • Lindy79 says:

Yep, that’s what the “hip surgery” was.
I don’t know anyone who has had major hip/leg/back surgery who is able to walk around in the shoes she does, which she was doing a mere few weeks after the surgery. Even with the best surgeons and physios, it just doesn’t happen.

I had keyhole surgery on my knee years ago and it still flares up when I wear high shoes and gets stiff all the time. No way did she have hip surgery.

Also she’s been essentially naked on stage in that shell bikini and no sign of a scar..

She’s a fake and if she just made music and STFU about her art then I wouldn’t mind her but this bullshit annoys me no end. Her music is disposable pop. She ain’t changing the world and her fans attitude is pretty rabid, which she encourages.

      • MonicaQ says:

Her tour was failing miserably and they were giving away tickets in some places in South America. Of course she magically had to have hip surgery and there was a crater in her hip and blah blah.

  4. Tapioca says:

Oh dear – adopting the accent of whichever country your in? She won’t even let Madonna have that to herself!

For what it’s worth her new single was number 1 on the UK’s iTunes for less than a day before sinking all the way down to its current 17 (after just 5 days).

I don’t think people are paying attention Gaga. MUST TRY HARDER!!

    • Nev says:

WORD on the Madonna comment. Hahaha

    • Jayna says:

What’s funny is she had her second single set, shooting a video and everything, had announced it and everything. R Kelly song,a promotional release, not a true single, did good for a day, so they changed everything and named it the single not even knowing if it would stay up on the charts and it didn’t I guess in the UK. She seems desperate and her team unsure of their moves, second-guessing themselves.

    • MissMoody says:

She was #1 on US iTunes for 2 days I think and now she’s #12. Behind TWO Katy Perry songs and of course the shock-diva of the moment, Ms. Miley. Her fans are hilarious though. When “Do What You Want” hit #1, the comment boards were screaming “best song OF LIFE!” and “Suck it haters! Gaga is numero UNO!” With an iTunes drop that drastic, guess that’s two singles that are not going to make the top spot. But of course that’s not what it’s about, right? ….says Gaga and her Litte Monsters when she doesn’t hit number 1.

    • Sharon says:

The thing about Madonna is she saturated us and then she layed low and then came back outta nowhere and kick our asses once again!

Gaga NEVER GOES AWAY! She just keeps on trying harder and harder and it is borderline pathetic.

  5. janie says:

Give it up! Your 15 minutes are up! Good grief!

  6. paola says:

She is so avant garde and not ridicolous at all. bless her.

  7. Square Bologna says:

She is exhausting. There is nothing to her at all, she’s a mediocre pop singer who wears costumes, and no amount of her never-ending SPIN will make her any more than she is.

  8. Elodie says:

Welp. She has definitely run out of options.

    • ZigZagZoey says:

Well, she hasn’t worn a beard yet….She’s saving that for her next artistic endeavor. 😆

      • Denise says:

Ha ha! I mean this seriously, how is she not tired of herself? The constant effort to be noticed and having to rely on the opinions of others (her fundamental problem) every second of the day, to feel validated? Madonna at least just did her thing and commanded attention, while this chick begs on her knees and cries for it. It’s gross.

  9. blue marie says:

Well would you look at that, she managed to capture Boris/Natasha and Spongebob all in that same day. The job of a pop star is never done.

  10. lolita says:

Gah! It must be exhausting to be Gaga. Can you imagine?

  11. serena says:

    She’s ridiculous.

  12. Eleonor says:

I want to say something nice: her body looks really good these days.

  13. Jayna says:

Arcade Fire is streaming their new album Reflektor, very synth-driven, different influences, part one and two discs, made to listen to as a body of work. I’m sure that’s more artpop than this mess Gaga is putting out saying her album is made to listen to as a complete body of work. I have lost faith in Gaga’s album. I’m sure it has some good songs on it, but I doubt a great album.

    • littlestar says:

Reflektor is AMAZING! Arcade Fire just keeps getting better and better with their music, and they don’t need to wear stupid ridiculous outfits to promote themselves and their music.

    • MonkSolo says:

I actually commented on the Reflektor vid : “someone should make Gaga watch this so she can see how to make art”

  14. Bopit says:

EYE ROLL. Seriously Gaga — just put on some jeans and a hoody for once; hell, that’d be more shocking and get people talking than this mess of an outfit will!!

    • Nev says:

      WORD.
If she was reallllllly on the ball fashion-wise she would be dressed down and ragged. The nineties are swinging back. Low key is happening.

  15. Ellie66 says:

She looks like she has a Mini-Wheat on her head. When I started reading the interview I got thru the first paragraph and my mind started blanking out the rest is blah, blah, blah! I think if Gaga and James Franco got together maybe they would cancel each other out. (Hopefully) 😉

  16. babythestarsshinebrite says:

I actually like these costumes. I love surrealism. I’m good to people all day long but not to impress Gaga or anyone else…

  17. Ai says:

Not sure about her as a great artist and yah she could tone down the ego and preachy mouth but I still enjoy her music more than Katy, Miley or Selena etc.

  18. Dawn says:

I think when you use stunts like this to keep yourself relevant sooner or later the public is going to tire of it all. And the sad fact is this girl can sing and doesn’t need all this stuff, she should just sing.

  19. Marianne says:

I like her music (except for Applause – yuck) but I am starting to find HER annoying. When I saw these pictures I had a major eyeroll. What is so artistic about wearing a freakin mustache?

  20. Jayna says:

She’s tiresome and she looks stupid in the mustache singing. And she’s so melodramatic introducing the song (rolls eyes), but, dayum, the girl has some pipes. Here she is belting out her next single, Gypsy, at that event stripped down to piano. Stunning vocally. The streaming drags a little visually, but the sound is amazing and the performance vocally gives chills.

    • Paige says:

      She does have vocal talent

    • Tiffany :) says:

I do think she is really talented musically. I wish she wasn’t so self defeating.

    • Kelly says:

I like the way she sounds with her belting notes but I’m not a fan of her voice. It’s very broadway. I’m not saying that she doesn’t have talent, I just don’t like her voice.

      • Jayna says:

I can appreciate when she does a great live vocal performance, but I agree as far as her tone doesn’t move me. Vocal tone and soul and delivery, not just power or range, really has a lot to do with loving someone as a singer enough to keep buying their music and if their songs speak to you. I always loved Madonna’s vocal tone, actually, very lovely in ballads. (Except her last album which sucked, but there were a couple of beautiful ballads). Gaga’s ballads, few and far between, were more theatrical, cabaret sounding and didn’t move me emotionally. I just loved her dance music when it was good early on as it was catchy.

  21. Timber says:

blue marie, now that was funny. Thanks!

  22. judyjudy says:

Uh…okay. I’m I supposed to love it? Hate it? Question it? Oh Gaga you’re such a creative enigma….

  23. shellybean says:

Gaga used to bring me so much joy. I loved everything about her. Now, not so much. I wish for once she would just dress and look like a normal person. She’s become tiring. She’s talented, I don’t know why she always has to detract from that.

  24. Ruyana says:

Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj – all weird costumes all the time. I’ve never listened to any of their music because their constant playing dress-up is so off-putting (plus I’m an old fart).

Do any of them actually have any real talent? If so, why are they so eager to bury it under tons of foolery?

    • Feebee says:

To be fair Katy and Nicki turn up in a proper dress now and again. They walk the red carpet in clothing not costumes.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I think Gaga does have a lot of talent. Her voice is great and she can play piano very well. She writes her own music. (I think someone posted a link to her piano performance in Berlin above). She has done acappella quite a bit, does jazz covers with Tony Bennett, etc.

IMO, Katy Perry is a ok song writer but has a shrill voice and doesn’t sound good live. Nicki is marginally talented, IMO.

I think they all do what they do with costumes because they are performers, so they give a show. However, I do think it overshadows their talent, but that is lost on them.

  25. Feebee says:

It’s exhausting to view her and listen to media people being constantly so upbeat about her instead of telling it like it is.

That furry whateverthehellitssupposedtobe thing on her head was called fashion. I’m sorry that’s not fashion, unless it’s being entered in the Wearable Art Fashion Awards, which means it’s wearable art (barely) but not really fashion.

She’s gotta stop before she makes us pine for Madonna’s brand of famewhoring again.

  26. littlestar says:

    She looks like an idiot.

  27. Ank says:

    Lady who?

  28. some bitch says:

So over her. Her shtick got old in late 2010 and I’ve been sick of her attention seeking ever since.

Behind that persona she does have some talent that’s being wasted.

  29. Lia says:

She’s so desperate it’s embarrassing to watch. I can’t imagine being THAT needy all the time. The constant “LOOK AT ME!!” behavior is old and annoying.

  30. monksolo says:

Whenever she talks about her “art” she is so full of crap. Take a course on it or something. The mustache reminds me too much of Marilyn Manson’s “boobs” and how they presaged his decline.

  31. Louminary says:

so what’s she gonna do for Hallowe’en?

  32. wendywoo says:

I’m calling her Tinkerbell from now on. If we stop clapping, she’ll die (metaphorically). STOP. CLAPPING.

  33. Snowpea says:

I have never liked Gaga and it is because the emperor really IS wearing no clothes.

She is a caricature of a caricature at this stage and if she wants any sorta career rejuvenation she needs to go away on a big long holiday then return in 12 months and just be a stripped back, pared back muso.

Go away Gaga. You are as boring as bloody batshit.

  34. Naddie says:

It used to annoy me how people were always saying she was something else back in 2010, when she’s never been anything beyond average. However, I do believe she has talent, never really shown to media.

  35. Asdfg says:

She’s really let herself go. Who remembers when she was just beginning to start out? She was everywhere and everyone (k maybe not everyone) loved her. She was in shape, gave awesome performances, her style was cool (cooler than what is it now) . She doesn’t even seem the same person. She’s given up on herself.

What happened to her? Drugs? Alcohol? Depression? I use to be a fan now she’s just………… meh.

  36. JB says:

Lady gaga is totally missing our attention.

  37. Emily says:

I know it really is a matter of taste, and I’m not even a Lady Gaga fan, but she is really talented which is why I don’t understand why she goes so far with the gimmicky bullshit. Her live performances whether in concert or on TV shows are really impressive and she has a better voice than any of the pop stars who are more popular than she is. She is so desperate for fame though, she only makes crap music and dresses like a fool to the point where everyone is just sick of her. Supposedly she started dressing like this because she didn’t want anyone to make a fuss over her appearance, she just wanted to get people’s attention so they would listen to her music… Now its just come to a place where she evokes an eye-roll from most people and everyone is over her.

  38. Meanchick says:

Pretty soon, she’ll have to perform buck naked onstage to draw attention. Pathetic is what comes to mind. Funny part is, if she just STFU and sang, she wouldn’t be that bad.

  39. Bizzyb says:

How about idiotic and not attractive.
