He’s 36 years old, but it seems like he’s older, right? So, ten years ago he was 26 years old. Ten years ago, Britney Spears was 21 years old and she was on top of the world (seriously, think of 2003 Brit-Brit). And according to In Touch, it was ten years ago that Robin and Britney had a little fling. Oooh!!!
Miley Cyrus isn’t the first pop star to get Robin Thicke into trouble. A source reveals exclusively to In Touch that 10 years ago, Robin was secretly spending time with another controversial singer: Britney Spears!
The pair had a fling in 2003 — when Britney was at the top of her game and Robin was trying to get recognized. “He was trying hard to develop a reputation as a hot, young singer, and Britney was the biggest thing in show business,” the source tells In Touch, sharing that the two met collaborating on a project (which was never released) and “started hooking up.”
Robin’s reps deny any such relationship. However, the source says that while the “Toxic” singer was newly single, recently splitting from Justin Timberlake, Robin had been dating actress and now wife Paula Patton since high school— a fact he was keeping quiet then.
But it wasn’t meant to be between Britney and Robin. In January 2004, Brit wed pal Jason Alexander in Las Vegas for 55 hours, while Robin, 36, married Paula a year later.
So, does this mean that Robin is just like Justin Timberlake in every way? Perhaps. The thing about 2003 Britney was that she was still yearning, still recovering, still out of sorts. Britney and Justin were over and Justin “sold her out” in an interview. She hadn’t met Kevin Federline yet. She had a fling with Colin Farrell. She was a mess, but it didn’t get out of hand until several years later. Having a fling with Robin Thicke was probably one of the more normal things she did that year.

Justin did an interview after they broke up. I believe it was with Diane Sawyer where he basically said Britney’s “virgin act” is simply an act and that he took her virginity. He then also did that “cry me a river” video which had a britney look a like in it…he made it seem as if britney had cheated on him with Wade Robson (choreographer and recently claimed Michael Jackson molested him). How true any of this is, I don’t know…but I do remember watching the interview and he did basically say he took her virginity…this was when Justin was trying to break out as a solo artist…that was a dirty trick for him to get publicity.

UM if anything Justin copied Robin, NOT the other way around. Justin only decided to do this whole “white boy R&B” thing not too long ago. It was Robin who’s always been super into it, I hate how people always incorrectly state that Robin came after Justin. Plus Robin was pretty popular in his own right, I wouldn’t call him “C-list” at all. He may not have been super known with White people, but in the urban community and with Black people he was super popular.

It infuriates me when people compare the two. Robin is a straight up and down R&B artist, and has been since he was riding around on a bike in NYC with his long, hippie hair (NEVER FORGET). Justin was still with N*SYNC at the time. Robin didnt have a bunch of famous Black friends to help him get an “urban edge”. Dude’s got soul.
