Brandi Glanville goes an epic Facebook rant about Joyce Giraud & money

FFN_Rimes_Cibrian_PAGO_110913_51256835

As you’ve probably guessed by now, I have never watched an episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I gather what information I need to know from Reality Tea and Radar and other sites, basically I just skim a few stories here and there to be able to keep up to the point where I can write about these people with any kind of authority. Nowadays, I wonder if my lack of understanding is helping me really understand what’s wrong with certain people. I have distance from it, so maybe I’m seeing it clearly.

A few weeks ago, Bravo aired an episode of RHOBH in which Brandi made a crude, unnecessary and yes, racist remark about a fellow Real Housewife named Joyce Giraud. The comment was bad enough, but Brandi began to “apologize” for the incident, and she just made it so much worse. Apparently, she’s not a racist because her black friends would have laughed at the comment. She’s also not a racist because she bangs black guys. And she’s not a racist because Joyce is a bitch, of course. All of this, according to Brandi. Nowadays, Brandi is losing paying gigs because the fever has broken and everyone’s like, “Wow, Brandi has some issues, huh?” And so Brandi decided to address those issues in an epic Facebook post which, like all of her apologies, makes the situation worse.

This last episode of Real housewives of Beverly Hills was extremely difficult for me to watch. I am not going to even mention my baby dog Chica’s situation because it is just to sad and hard for me to relive. But otherwise yes I am very embaressed for my behavior and take full responsibility for over indulging. I was a bitch to Joyce for reasons you don’t get to see on the show.

To the viewer It looks like I am just acting bitchy towards her for no reason, but trust me I have my reasons. However for Joyce who has only been around me a handful of times, never been to my home, never spent time with my children, never hung out with me outside of shooting, to label me the way she did and continues to do, is incredibly irresponsible and hurtful.

I made one very insensitive and inappropriate comment that I have profusely apologized for. I in no way live with any sort of prejudice in my life of any sort. I got drunk around Joyce maybe 2 and a half times the entire season long, and twice in the public eye this past year. Once on my birthday and once after I turned in my second book, I was celebrating both times, my children were at their fathers and I’m not going to make apologies for those times.

Joyce’s ongoing comments, accusations and labels have endangered my family and cost me jobs, and opportunities. As a single mother, supporting my two little boys and running a household by myself I hope Joyce feels really really good about what she is doing to my family as she sits a top her mansion with her giant diamond ring and zero worries.

During the filming of this season there is a defining moment when you will get to see the exact kind of person Joyce truly is and trust me its not pretty. I can only hope that the show decides to air it because not everything we shoot makes it in. By the end of filming for the season Joyce and I were actually on good friendly terms and went on our separate but merry ways.

I saw Joyce once after filming was completely over. My mom, children and I walked into a sushi restaurant for dinner and ran in to Joyce and her husband and to my surprise our filming crew… let me just add that sometimes we have to shoot pick up scenes after the show has wrapped so that certain story lines make sense. I stopped at their table kissed Joyce and her husband hello, made a little small talk introduced them to my mom and my children and then went upstairs to have our family dinner. Im sure you can imagine my shock when watching this Mondays upcoming episode and see that scene they were shooting in the restaurant and Joyce is going on and on about my inappropriate comment and labeling me a racist and relaying their mutual disgust for me. Wow!!!!! She really is an actress and I don’t really see how this scene was needed to make sense to our show.

Sadly it seems this and the other labels Joyce throws my way are her only story lines for the season. I really wish she were more interesting so that trying to ruin my life wasn’t her only storyline. This coupled with the fact, that although we were on good terms at the end of filming, the second any press would listen, Joyce was giving interview after interview about me needing rehab or me being prejudice or anything me and all negative. This speaks volumes about her need for attention her vicious ambition and her true colors. I really hope this woman can stop obsessing over what she thinks my issues are and focus on the help she needs to get for herself.

Enough said -have a beautiful Holiday season

[From Brandi’s Facebook]

I edited this slightly, but only to create some paragraphs so you wouldn’t have to read one huge block of text, which is how Brandi wrote it – like a stream-of-consciousness rant. So, let’s dissect:

*Brandi is done “apologizing” because she’s already “apologized” enough and if you’re still mad about what she’s said, that’s on you, it’s your fault for not accepting her (equally offensive) apology.

*Joyce thinks that Brandi is a racist and she says so publicly, and this is really painful to Brandi. Doesn’t Joyce know that she has no right to be offended by what Brandi has said?

*Brandi is losing money because of this controversy and she’s just a poor single mother trying to raise two boys on a piddling $136,000 a year, plus paid appearances, plus child support?

*Brandi is super-offended that Joyce would just write her off without knowing her, probably because Brandi is the very essence of honesty, kindness and motherhood and Joyce is just… black, amirite?

The only thing real about any of these housewives are their personality disorders.

Sadly, this makes LeAnn and the Rent- a wreck- husband look sane and rational.

    • dontbuyit says:

Sorry but no, Brandi does not make Leanne look sane. The only thing in my opinion for Leanne to look sane is if she gets her own life instead of trying hard to be something she is not. Piper Perabo, Brandi and they are only the ones we know about.

Brandi gets drunk, says offensive things at times, like Leanne shifts blame onto others and plays victim, but she doesn’t swf, stalk or sue people who “SHE” called for having an opinion about her. That’s insane and even more crazy, because Leanne is a celebrity. Even if she is a has been.

  2. V4Real says:

Well at least she’s giving LeAne a break.

  3. bammer says:

Anytime someone calls Brandi on her shit she plays the “poor single Mom” card. I’m so over Brandi and her perpetual victimization. She’s a crass woman who got off on her fleeting popularity. What goes up always comes down.

    • shellybean says:

Exactly! She may not be as well off as the other BH housewives, at least judging by the relatively modest home she lives in, but she’s hardly “poor” or “struggling”.

    • Lucinda says:

For a brief period of time, I started liking Brandi when her first book came out. I thought how crazy is the L&E situation that I actually think Brandi is okay. Now I’m remembering that none of them are likeable. They are all nutso.

    • queenfreddiemercury says:

Well said bammer. I liked her the first season she was on but I can no longer stand her.

  4. TheOriginalKitten says:

My god, these women act like 14-year-olds. It’s so effin embarrassing.

    • gogoGorilla says:

I know, right? Brandi is a grade-A Idiot. She had SO MUCH goodwill from the public, which she just blew through (drank away, mouthed-off away, whatever you want to call it!). And I say this as someone who also side-eyes Leann. But I think Eddie clearly has a type.

I think she’s going to just get more and more unpopular as the season goes on, because she clearly can’t control her mouth, has zero self-awareness, and also vastly overrated viewer opinion of her. I think most people liked her because she was the underdog–not just because of the Leann SWF situation, but also because Vyle Kyle and Kim picked on her from the jump. But that’s clearly past.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Also, I try not to nitpick grammar and spelling errors too much (since no one is perfect), but “embaressed ” 😳 🙇

      • Zbornak Syndrome says:

Brandi wants to mouth off under the guise of “I’m just telling the truth!” But can’t take it when someone does the same to her. She has lost a fan in me. Not because of this specific incident, but because she is clearly an unintelligent, drunken, classless mess of a woman.
Heck, say what you want but you don’t get to chose who you offend. Her excuses for her actions are always so childish and uneducated. It’s almost painful.

  5. maria says:

Brandi is dumb but Joyce is annoying. The only thing Joyce has going for her is her hair on R HOBH as far as my opinion goes. I watch the show and fast forward through Joyce and Kim. At least Brandi is sometimes stupid funny. I think the reunion is going to be fun.

    • shellybean says:

OMG, the reunions! I expect it to be vicious. It always is! I find them very uncomfortable to watch sometimes.

      • Rhae says:

I am so tired of people ragging on Brandi. Yes she is crass and crude, but she is providing for her two sons that her ex husband wouldn’t give two rats butts abouts! He left her homeless and alone when she kicked his horse loving butt out! People seem to forget about that it is the part BROVO is paying her to be. People need to STFU and leave her alone.

      • Josephina says:

Brandi is getting EXACTLY what she deserves. If an elected politician said anything of the sort while running for re-election, he would have lost.

She is behaving like Paula Deen’s daughter, if she had one. Each “apology” demonstrates that she does not get that she not only offended Joyce, but also fans who watch the show.

She is sorry for the consequences that she is now paying, which by the way she spends all of her time “explaining” HER pain, anguish. She was about to grab the holy grail and someone snatched it. Awwwwww.

Shut up and let everyone have time to heal from your insult. Stop throwing more salt on the wound. Kill them with kindess. She wants Joyce and the viewers who were offended to “hurry up” and get over it. She is impatient with the process of forgivness. She does not care. She is only upset because the self-induced drama may negatively impact HER income. And that is usually the ONLY way to wake up a racist.

Lesson: If you want grace and forgiveness, set the example and offer it first. But no, Brandi is ALWAYS about getting even. She doesn’t know a win from a loss.

        NOT. A. FAN.

    • crab says:

Me too Maria! I can’t stand Joyce! She acts all innocent and shocked at everyone and “oh poor me I am such a good person why is she attacking me like this”? Her hair is probably a weave any way! 🙂 Team Brandi for me!

  6. heidi says:

Isn’t Bravo paying her $270, 000 this season? Throw in the small movie roll, appearances PLUS the child support and she’s not the poor, struggling single mom she wants you to pity.

  7. Seapharris7 says:

It was bound to catch up with her eventually.

  8. QQ says:

Oh this Cheesy drunk catfaced asshole again *headdesk*

    • Camille says:

She keeps digging that hole. I can’t stand her. She is 100% white trash. BTW her intro line is… ironic a little bit… “In Beverly Hills, the higher you climb, the farther you fall.” LOL.

    • Brigittte says:

      QQ ~Heehee! Made me laugh.

  9. Len says:

I read somewhere prior to this season starting that Joyce and her husband were really good friends with leann and Eddie. Even before Brandi’s epic downfall (which is disgusting btw—not defending her at all), Joyce was attacking Brandi on the show. Brandi just have her legitimate fire with her comments.

  10. Ginger says:

I will admit that I do watch some of the Real Housewives franchise…Beverly Hills, Orange County and New Jersey respectively. I also follow Brandi on Facebook and I saw her rant yesterday. I figured after I read it that it would be posted here and everywhere else. So, unlike Kaiser I don’t have objective distance from the subject. Still, after reading her rant I honestly didn’t know what to think about it. Brandi sounds frustrated for sure and reveals some things about filming that I didn’t know. I wasn’t aware that they film additional scenes to “round out” story lines for instance. I did know that the show is somewhat scripted and fueled by alcohol as are all of the Real Housewives shows. But I just didn’t get the whole point of her going on a rant right now about Joyce. I suppose it’s because she’s angry that she is losing paying gigs over her storyline with her. Obviously she feels wronged by Joyce and perhaps due to contractual obligations she can’t reveal why. But then the cynical side of me says it’s all hype to get more people to watch the show.

    • glaugh says:

I got the feeling that she went on this rant after viewing the upcoming (tonight’s) episode and seeing Joyce talk sh-t about her at the restaurant she mentioned. Perhaps that is what set her off.

      • Ok says:

If Joyce is talking about her in a scene it was because she was directed to do so by one of the producers. Show is scripted very loosely.

I think the rant is for ratings. And Brandi knows how to bring the drama. She is reality show gold.

I do miss Adrienne on the show. I don’t miss Taylor. And I do like the addition of Carlton and Joyce. And I wish Camille were on the show more often.

I started watching because I wanted to see Camille. Stayed watching because I got hooked in a weird way. Season is pretty interesting so far. Looking forward to reunion show.

  11. Dreamyk says:

” I got drunk around Joyce maybe 2 and a half times..”

Did she whip out a breathalyzer and only register half of a DUI? Damn. This girl is ignorant. I wonder if she inherited that from her Heron father ^.^

  12. Ag says:

How does one get drunk “two and a half times”?

  13. paranormalgirl says:

“…as she sits a top her mansion with her giant diamond ring and zero worries.”

If she’s sitting atop her mansion, I would think she would be worried about falling off. And this comment seems like total sour grapes to me. Money and diamonds don’t mean someone has zero worries.

    • Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

If you’re as vapid as this woman seems to be, then she’d think not….
God, it’s hard to make LeAnne Rimes seem tolerable, but it’s like she’s trying her damnedest.

  14. DTX says:

This is getting ridiculous. How come other celebrities get a such a pass? Kanye can be racist because its entertaining when he does it, Poor Britney is just crazy, Jay-Z is just so damn cool to call out, Moby is too boring to care about, Amy Winehouse was a poor little crackhead, now dead, Chelsea Handler’s schtick is to be kind of offensive. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE SAID EQUALLY RACIST CRAP. Why are there no posts about them?

It seems like we flip our lids over people who are more ignorant than racist. Remeber the Ireland Baldwin thing, too? Everyone flipped out for that as well. How come we don’t call out Jay-Z for openly admitting he excluded white people from a party he threw?

And before anyone starts…I am a minority woman, not white. I just think people should catch heat equally. Let’s see if this post even makes it, since I keep getting edited out lately for posting things calling for even amounts of accountability on this topic.

    • MissMoody says:

      Well let’s see
Kanye and Jay Z: I don’t think white people know how to react when black people/other minorities say racist things. Complaining about it usually ends with the complainer looking bad. Not saying it’s right, but that’s just what I’ve observed. Jay Z also gets a pass because white people love Beyonce

Moby: I don’t even know what he said that was racist. I doubt many people do because that’s just how influential Moby is right now

Chelsea Handler: Is vile but she’s a comedian. Race jokes are their bread and butter.

Britney Spears: Is under a legal conservatorship and therefore, not even in control of her own life. Her mental health issues are also public knowledge so she is handled with kid-gloves, in real life and in the media, as well as from her fans.

Amy Winehouse: I don’t know what she said that was racist but she was a heavy, heavy, HEAVY drug user. Think Charlie Sheen. He says so many outrageous things but he very clearly has issues and is probably never sober. Hard to take him seriously.

People don’t catch heat equally because they are not equal. Celebrities/public figures have different levels of fame. If there was an article on Moby’s racism for example, I skipped it because all I know about Moby is Christina Ricci was in one of his music videos. Blogs, media outlets don’t get enough page views so they drop the story. It’s the same reason that Rupert Sanders wasn’t called out for being a homewrecker and Kristen Stewart was. She’s famous and everyone knows her. He is not.

      • DTX says:

Sorry, most of the people are MORE famous than Brandi, so that doesn’t work.

Jay Z & Kanye should NOT get a pass just because their black, sorry that is stupid.

Moby tweeted that putting black women in the MoMa would make it “hood”

Amy Winehouse was caught backstage singining racial slurs about A LOT of non-white ethnicities to the beat of a nursery song

And Chelsea Handler told a black person on Twitter to “go drink grape soda”

And funny enough…we’re making such a big fuss about Brandi over something like this. I think she keeps brining it up because people keep bothering her about it. Look at how many posts there are on just this site labeling her an official racist. Making fun of her because she defended herself and that turned into “Ha ha, she says she has black friends”, “bangs black guys”. This is so stupid it’s making my brain numb. THERE ARE RACISTS IN EVERY COLOR.

    • NerdMomma says:

I agree. People who are “calling out Brandi” here are being so disingenuous. Of all the rotten racism in the world, everyone is going to focus on one d-lister who said a woman wouldn’t swim because she’s black? Way to face the real challenges, people. There are members of Congress who wield actual power saying things a thousand times worse and a thousand times more damaging. Don’t pat yourself on the back for calling Brandi a racist until you’ve written letters calling out politicians and judges and police forces, etc. etc. etc.

    • Twirl says:

      +1!!

Racism goes both ways but as a society we only focus on one aspect of it.

    • Samtha says:

It’s because Brandi won’t stop talking about it. If she keeps releasing new statements about it, people are going to keep responding to her about it. If she just said, “I’m sorry” and let it go, we’d be posting about LeAnn’s latest craziness or something like that instead.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

        Somewhat agree, Samtha.

If she’d apologized sincerely once, I do think many of us would have let it go. We could have had the chance to give her the benefit of the doubt and decided it’s a one time stupid comment. However, with every comment Brandi makes, she removes all doubt.

    • queenfreddiemercury says:

I hear what you’re saying. Personally I’m fair about most of these cases (I don’t know about all of them) but I think most people only call out people they don’t like. And give people they like a pass. I don’t do that ever for better or worse.

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

“THERE ARE RACISTS IN EVERY COLOR.”

@DTX, I completely agree. I’m Spanish/Cuban/White and I see both sides of it. I’ve encountered white people who make jokes at the expense of other races and Latinos who are prejudice against other Latinos (ie. Cuban family members who look down on Mexicans). I also have a Puerto Rican friend who flipped out about his niece dating a black guy. Then, there’s my Korean brother-in-law who was disowned by his parents for marrying my Italian sister-in-law.

I’ve argued your point with friends and their feeling is that you can’t be racist against white people because they’ve never been oppressed. It’s an interesting point that I might agree with if I hadn’t been privy to so much racist behavior within my own circle of friends and family (who happen to represent many races).

    • Shoe_Lover says:

      DTX you said

And Chelsea Handler told a black person on Twitter to “go drink grape soda”

what does “go drink grape soda” mean?

  15. bettyrose says:

Maybe I’m reading these stories wrong, but it sounds like Brandi said one drunken inappropriate thing – rude but not by definition racist – and she’s being raked over the coals for it. I don’t watch the show, so am I wrong that she’s being endlessly punished for one isolated incident?

    • Samtha says:

She keeps bringing it up, mostly. If she stopped talking, people would forget pretty quickly. Also, she’s continued being a bitch to Joyce for no real reason.

      • emmie_a says:

“She keeps bringing it up…” — maybe she learned that from LeAnn?

And supposedly there is a reason she’s a bitch to Joyce – it just hasn’t been shown on camera. yet.

      • claire says:

Keeps bringing it up by responding to the numerous interviews Joyce keeps doing about it. They all defend themselves against that stuff. She’s not special for doing it, too.

    • bbb1975 says:

Well, yes and no..First Brandi called Joyce (another person on the show) the wrong name on purpose, because Joyce isn’t isn’t a latina enough name, also Joyce is the name of a big fat pig and an old person. She admits she was calling joyce the wrong name to piss her off because Brandi finds her annoying (nothing worse then annoying, Oh! wait and Brandi was bored so she needed to have some fun and pissing Joyce off by calling her the wrong name is FUN!!) Then she made the Joyce can’t swim because shes black comment.
Then every single apology since has been a non-apology.
So, it is stemming from the same incident, but she just keeps digging the whole deeper by issuing statements and fake apologies.

      • Sloane Wyatt says:

        bbb1975, I jumped in upstream before I read your comment, and you said it better than I did;

      • Susan says:

Yes, it’s more than the swimming comment. For the last three weeks Brandi has been calling Joyce Yoyce, Hoycita, Jackalina Latina, etc

And in Joyce’s Bravo blog she says that at Yolanda’s dinner party when she was asked by Yolanda’s husband David to make a toast in Spanish, Brandi interrupted and said, “STFU we’re not in Miami.”

    • Kelly says:

You are correct. It’s getting ridiculous.

    • glaugh says:

+1 the hate for her is over the top.

    • queenfreddiemercury says:

Not really. She has been rude to Joyce for a while now. Brandi doesn’t consider what she is doing bullying just being bitchy but whatever it is when she gets called out for it she plays the victim. Brandi made the black comment and then a bunch of Latin comments and made fun of Joyce’s name a few times. But now that she’s being called out for it she playing the victim again.

  16. Samtha says:

Of course. “You’ll see what she did” is Brandi’s favorite saying. Pre-season, she kept telling us that about Lisa, saying once the show started, we’d see why she and Lisa didn’t get along any more. But everything we’ve seen just shows Brandi being a mess and Lisa being her same-old self.

Brandi goes on and on about how honest and unfiltered she is–so why not be honest about what Joyce did that’s so terrible? How convenient that Brandi was a bitch “for reasons you don’t get to see on the show.” If Brandi had reasons, she’d be the first person spewing them out to anyone who’d listen.

Also, way to keep shirking responsibility for your own words and actions, Brandi. Blaming Joyce for the backlash is utterly creepy. She needs to shut up for five minutes so people forget what a mess she is.

  17. Ice Maiden says:

Random comment: I barely know who this person is, but I love the shade of pink lipstick she’s wearing in the home page pic.

  18. bettyrose says:

In L.A., 135k for a family of three affords a very basic middle class life. It would Be a real stretch to send two kids to private school and maintain a Beverly Hills party life on that. It would be nearly impossible if she were also paying her own rent, health insurance, and trying to save for retirement and two college educations.OTH LA has great public schools in the high rent towns, so I don’t get why she’s paying for private schools.

    • Samtha says:

135K also doesn’t take into account that she has to pay self-employment taxes, state taxes, and city taxes, which can go up to 50% of your money if you fall into a high enough bracket and don’t have a good accountant. A percentage also goes to her agent, I imagine.

      • Jayna says:

She’s making way more than 135k this year. The other ladies in their second year moved up to over 200 k, 240 k or something. She’s been on the show three years, two years full time. So she’s making far more than 135 k. Last season her salary was 175k. Kyle was 275 and Lisa Vanderpump 300 K. So this year Brandi was at least making 240 or 250k but most likely 275 k since she was one of the big stars last year and would be deemed worthy of the salary and Lisa and the others are higher also this year than last I would imagine because they all go up every year. Lisa’s I bet went up a good bit.
Hell, Nene Leaks is making a million a year now with the RHOA.

Add to that her book deal which was on the best seller list and a big success and her appearances, and her clothing line, and on and on and she pulled in a lot of money. She makes a lot of side money.

The girl is doing just fine.

      • Jayna says:

Oops, I was wrong. I thought the 175k figure was from last year. It’s this year. The 135 K figure was last year.

      • Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

        Poor rich lady.
        :(((

        /sarcasm

    • bettyrose says:

I think it’s pretty clear, overall, that she’s not paying for the entire lifestyle on a single salary (i.e. designer clothes, nightly sushi, private schools, etc.) She has other sources of income and Eddie is legally obligated to pay for some portion of the children’s upbringing. But just for arguments sake, if she really were a single mom in L.A. with two kids with no more than that salary, I wouldn’t assume she had any paid help. But then again, presumably she also would be shopping at Ross and making dinners at home, like the rest of us.

  19. Talie says:

As someone who watches the show, I can tell you that Brandi thought she was invincible and owned the show. She needed a reality check and I’m glad she got it.

  20. JenniferJustice says:

I have no sympathy for Brandi. She’s making a great deal more money than many of us and living a hedonistic self-centered lifestyle. She hasn’t saved squat for even next year let alone for her boys’ college education. she’s too busy still trying to live in the BeaverHeezy wearing desinger clothes and getting slopping drunk to the point her tampon string was showing. Come on! If you love your boys SO MUCH, why don’t you protect them more by being a decent parent not an embarrassment to them. Just because they don’t know now, doesn’t mean they won’t know later and it’s still just as bad. I don’t hate on Brandi because I’m all pro-Joyce. Joyce is a shallow beauty with little education and even less vocabulary even in her own native tonque. She is a vapid ding-bat. And I’m certainly not a LeMan fan. Can’t stand her. But Brandi creates her own turmoil besides anything to do with LeMan and Eddiot. Brandi has no morals, she is trashy, ignorant and selfish. I felt bad for her when Eddiot left her, but at this point, she’s just making a fool of herself and I feel sorry for the kids.

  21. Bread and Circuses says:

Did Brandi Glanville really write this? I only spotted three spelling/punctuation errors. That seems low, based on her only-vaguely-literate Twitter feed.

  22. Nycboots says:

Like many here, I was rooting for Brandi. She deserved a break after the horrid way her marriage ended, followed by the endless SWFing and child stealing antics of the new wife. However, she has taken all the good will she had and thoroughly trashed it with her idiotic shenanigans. She has no one to blame but herself. To use her own favorite phrase, STFU Brandi! I do not like her persona at all this season, her success really went to her head. She is so smug and money hungry and it’s not a good look. The fact that she is now besties with the atrocious Richards’ sisters is just a bridge too far.

    • emmie_a says:

Nycboots: I totally agree. I was also rooting for Brandi because of what she went through and continues to go through w/LeAnn’s SWF obsession with her… BUT she has really gone off the edge and makes herself look bad. If she didn’t say and do the things she says and does, Joyce wouldn’t have ammunition to trash her. And the bottom line for me when Brandi excused her behaviors by saying that she’s been this way for 41 years and can’t change. ugh. Grow up Brandi.

  23. swack says:

“As a single mother, supporting my two little boys and running a household by myself . . .” First – I don’t believe you are running this household by yourself. I’m sure you have maids, cooks, nannies, accountants, etc. Many people everyday run their households by actually cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and paying the bills themselves. Second, you make GOOD money in support of those boys and most likely get child support. Try living paycheck to paycheck before whining about supporting them. Third, your behavior is what is losing you jobs. Put some big girl panties on and do something constructive with your life.

    • emmie_a says:

swack: I really don’t think she has maids, cooks, nannies, etc. She’s making decent money but she’s not rich by any means, especially compared to the other Housewives.

    • Macey says:

      Exactly.
I think she’s far better off than a lot of actual SINGLE mothers. like the ones who never see a dime of child support or their kids never see their fathers. She gets support plus Ediot has them 50% of the time so her poor me, Im a single mom line wears real thin. My mom raised my sis and I without a dime of support and no shared visitation on a very small fraction of what BG makes so I have absolutely no sympathy there. I think whatever empathy I had for her is pretty much gone although I still have some for having to deal with LR but thats it. Struggling, single mothers do not fill their faces to point of distortion and every other cosmetic thing she does plus all the designers stuff she splurges on. sorry, but my mom wore hand me downs her whole life when we were kids just so we could have new clothes. I dont want to hear her play the poor single mom card until she actually is one.

I’ve noticed that a lot of our white peers, some of the commenters on these Brandi stories included, do not have a nuanced understanding of racism at all. I see so many comments saying “but what she said wasn’t racist” and it’s become exceedingly clear to me through the media and through what people say under anonymous accounts that some of you just don’t get it or are simply pretending not to so you can get away with saying or thinking similar things. So much so that it feels futile to even explain why what Brandi said is very much a product of racism. I’ve given up. Some of you will just never understand and that hurts me as a woman of color because I feel like we’ve reached an impasse. We made so much progress in the last 50 or so years and the last decade has felt like a backslide of people feigning ignorance when they know why something they do or say is offensive and wrong because of it’s racial implications. Do you even know where the idea came from that black people couldn’t swim? It’s because blacks weren’t allowed at pools and therefore couldn’t learn, and further back, blacks being tossed into the ocean from slave ships in chains. You cannot detach that stereotype from it’s original context, just like you cannot detach painting your face to “dress up” as a black person from the original intent of blackface. We are not far enough removed from those ideas as a society to pretend it has no bearing on modern culture.

And I’m glad this website finally came around to the idea that Brandi is a vile human being. I haven’t read here in a while but I remember when her vs. LeAnn first became a thing, you guys were practically tripping over yourselves to excuse her awfulness because she was the scorned woman.

Oh my god, I think I love you.

Your entire comment should be mandatory reading, particularly this part:

“Do you even know where the idea came from that black people couldn’t swim? It’s because blacks weren’t allowed at pools and therefore couldn’t learn, and further back, blacks being tossed into the ocean from slave ships in chains. You cannot detach that stereotype from it’s original context, just like you cannot detach painting your face to “dress up” as a black person from the original intent of blackface. • Josephina says:

“White men can’t jump” is a racist statement. Who disagrees?

A lot of people think that you have to wear white sheets over your head with two holes in them for sight purpose and hate the entire race of blacks (which inculdes the HIspanic race) in order to make a racist statement. Ergo, the ignorant replies such as “I have black friends” or ” I have dated/banged black dudes.”

Brandi made a racist comment because she insinuated Joyce’s choice to go into the water was based on racial reasons and not preferential reasons. Brandi brought up the issue of race, NOT Joyce. Furthermore, the comment that Brandi was a racial steretype.

If you are someone that speaks stereotypes all the time and are never corrected, then you will probably not see what the big deal is. Stereotypes are misleading and are not absolute truths. In this case, Brandi meant it to insult Joyce. The problem remains that viewers were insulted as well by listening and watching.

    • Sloane Wyatt says:

Dory, please don’t give up. This is an excellent comment for clueless people; you may very well have reached someone who, at this very moment, is digesting your words. Your voice is bound to reach someone here.

    • Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

YES. PEople seem to confuse “It’s not racist” with “I didn’t THINK it was racist.”
Just shut up and consider your colour DOES give you privilege right, for a second.

    • Denise says:

Dory – I’m white. And you’re right. 100%. Bless you.

  25. dontbuyit says:

Brandi will never get it, that’s why she is becoming hugely unpopular pretty fast this year. Better to shut up and say nothing if this is the best she can come up will. Joyce comments have endangered her family, Please shut up you silly immature fool. Is she that oblivious as to how ridiculous she sounds.

Brandi is responsible for what Brandi says, this is what is endangering her career right now. Has nothing to do with what Joyce is saying.
Joyce has not cost her gigs, it’s her own behavior. Nobody will destroy Brandi’s career better than Brandi, because she lacks self awareness and has no filter. She has the maturity of a bratty spoiled teenager that thinks the world is out to get them. She is a victim in every situation, even when she is in the wrong.

Onto Joyce as I’ve got a thing to say about her. She is really milking this for all it’s worth which leads me to think she isn’t as hurt as she makes out, instead enjoying the attention she is getting because of it.

Joyce will keep the racist comment storyline going for the next 20 years in RH, interviews to make herself relevant and get her some much needed attention since my opinion is, she is without it in the real world given her desperate attempts of self promotion. I find it so weird that Joyce Dm people on Twitter asking why they don’t like her. Who acts like that? A weird insecure nut, that’s who. Reminding me of another nut that goes to such lengths in trying to change people’s opinions on her, on Twitter.

    • LAK says:

what i take from your observation is that Brandi should follow her own advice and SU.

If people can see Joyce being so transparent, then Brandi simply needs to sit back and let Joyce do all the work for her. At this point, *Brandi is protesting too much and it’s not working in her favour at all.

      BRANDI…….ARE YOU LISTENING???!!!!

*though i think it’s all part of the overall gameplan to raise the BH ratings. Keep the feud alive so more people will watch BH to see someone get their comeuppance! i’m just cynical that way.

      • dontbuyit says:

EXACTLY! B doesn’t know when to simply shut her mouth. She hangs her own rope and sinks her own ship.
Joyce unfortunately is now swimming in the clear and that b**** is a shark.

    • Susan says:

I don’t think Joyce is the one pushing this at all. She’s only defending herself against what Brandi has been saying about her online.

  26. Anorexicsupermodel says:

She needs to get off reality tv and get help for her personality disorder, eating disorder, and alcoholism. So messy!

  27. Abbicci says:

I had to ask friends about what Brandi said. I was give the historical context and yeah, what she said was straight up racist. My ignorance was about African Americans and swimming. I learned something and will be more aware in the future. Brandi isn’t being ignorant, she is being an entitled, rich idiot. A classic example of white privilege and micro aggression.

That’s the problem with micro aggressions people can pass them off as ignorance or a joke or belief ( just like the Duck Dynasty racist POS). Racism, homophobia, sexism, slut shaming and body shaming are all bigger issues that get buried in this ‘it’s just a joke/my belief’. it allows the ignorant to stay ignorant because they have a defense.

    • Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

Commenting, myself, in the hopes that more people read your comment.

  28. PoliteTia says:

Someone needs to tell Brandi Glanville that she is NOT in her early twenties. Rants, while in the early twenties are rather cute. Brandi Glanville is too long in the tooth and she is not aging well. Her rants ware just annoying and bothersome
The ‘potty mouth’ from an aging wannabe is just sad. No wonder Eddie Cibrian dumped her for Skeletor.
Brandi please get back under the table, finish your drink and SHUT UP!

  29. Kellykat says:

I have to agree, it’s painful to watch the way Brandi has torpedoed all the goodwill the public had for her. Now that it’s affecting her ability to get jobs, she blames other people. No Brandi, it’s you. You are out of control and need to stop drinking and arguing with people. Please get help.

    • Brown Eyed Girl says:

If Brandi just said “i screwed up on tonights episode, i was a dumbass and take it as a learning experience “…..people would move on. But it would take Brandi keeping quiet too. Joyce is in the moral right but shes obviously not the sweet “above it all” she tried to exude in the palm springs episode because she is talking to any tabloid who will listen (and Real housewives blogs) about Brandi when she could really stick it to Brandi by being gracious and ACTUALLY ABOVE IT ALL.

  30. Lila says:

Brandi is SO fixated on money and being the victim. Like everything she does should be able to be brushed away by a quick apology because of her history. Her history is not that bad! And certainly not unique. What about all those poor single mothers who didn’t get a high paying job and book deal out of their divorce, whose ex didn’t marry a woman who can give those boys anything they could ever need financially, who are left high and dry without child support, who are scraping by when they lose a job, etc. I don’t mind celebrities expressing hardships but Brandi’s argument and the context she argues it in is bullshit.

Not only does she have her salary, profits from her book, an advance for her next book, and appearance money, she also gets child support. And while Leann is a nutcase, I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that if those boys needed something that Brandi couldn’t financially provide, she wouldn’t willingly provide it. Brandi herself is a mess but the boys that she always argues are being financially hurt are fine. She needs to deal with her own issues and stop putting them off on other people or playing the victim card to excuse them. What happened to her sucked but the aftermath is on her.

  31. suzie says:

racism on bravo reality shows needs to be taken seriously. BRandi looks down upon Joyce and has made inappropriate comments that anywhere else, would cost a person their jobs! It is so sad taht so-called educated…sorry opps my error – rich and suddenly rich and no class woemn just enjoyed the comment instead of immediately asking that Bravo stop filming!!! What a sad state of affiars. Not only Brandi but the gaping other women owe Joyce and apology! And Brandi – so Joyce is second place? well u r ZERO!! So it sucks for u right? Jealous??? I think human values is what each of you woemn on RHOBH needs to leanr…start going to Sunday school before showing the world that money alone is poer. No – dust to dust…the money will be nothing but ashes!! Ansy Cohen needs to take note and ensure that this wrong is corrrected. Joyce is too kind else she could take Bravo to court!!

  32. Jackie Jormp Jomp (formerly Zelda) says:

It’s okay to be racist to someone if they are not someone nice. DUH.

    /sarcasm

    • Susan says:

It seems like it’s OK as long as the person targeted comes from a certain minority group. This whole thing is starting to remind me of Lisa Lampanelli going after Dyana on “The Apprentice.” Bravo has hours and hours of tape. I think they film 80 hours for each one hour show. The producers didn’t have to make racism against Joyce a storyline where she is insulted week after week. They have never shown Joyce outside of that context. For instance, we have never seen her home. Basically, Bravo thinks it’s OK to make these comments against Hispanics, and use it as a storyline. I don’t blame Joyce for speaking up and for talking about things that Bravo filmed, but did not show.

What Brandi said was wrong but she’s too ignorant to understand that she’s being used. Yolanda and Lisa laughed at Brandi’s comments about Joyce at the pool and at Yolanda’s dinner party. Of course they themselves know better than to make those kinds of comments openly, but they have no problem egging on the drunk, low class ignoramus who doesn’t know any better. These women are not Brandi’s friends.

I saw a scene for next week (12/30), and when a drunk Brandi yet again starts to attack Joyce at dinner in front of everyone, including her husband, Joyce cuts her off by calling her a racist and a bully. Only THEN does Lisa look uncomfortable and embarrassed because Joyce brings it out into the open and calls it what it is.

  33. stanhope says:

I used to be a Brandi fan but after that Joyce debacle, Brandi can KMBA…kiss my Black ***. What she said was stupid and unacceptable. She is the most broke of all of the women on there so who is REALLY stereotypically “black”? Perhaps she will change out her borrowed couture for the Duck Dynasty duds in Walmart and go on a cross burning spree in Beverly Hills.

  34. nancy says:

This woman is CRAZY…she is someone to stay far, far away from. She needs to go back to church!
