Sean Penn’s adult kids hate Charlize Theron, they call her ‘Chuckles Theron’

wenn20983048

I don’t know all that much about Sean Penn and Robin Wright’s kids. I know Dylan Penn, 22, is very pretty and that she probably banged Robert Pattinson a few times last year. And I know Hopper Penn, 20, almost died several years ago after a bad accident. I also know that Hopper is all better these days and he thinks nothing of dropping the N-word when confronting a paparazzo. And that’s about it. I suspect Dylan is more like her mom – quiet and contained. I suspect Hopper is like his dad – a hot mess of anger and rage. But according to the Enquirer, the Penn kids can agree on one thing: they hate their dad’s new girlfriend.

SEAN PENN’s grown children don’t like his new girlfriend Charlize Theron and have secretly nicknamed her “Chuckles” because she constantly cracks jokes in a futile attempt to win their approval, a source says.

As Hollywood’s latest May-December couple inch closer and closer to walking down the aisle, a source says the one stumbling block is that Sean’s children by ex-wife Robin Wright – daughter Dylan, 22, and son Hopper, 20 – haven’t warmed up to their soon-to-be stepmother.

“Sean is crazy about Charlize and can’t wait to marry her, but he’s getting incredible flak from his kids,” a Hollywood insider told The ENQUIRER.

Dylan and Hopper find the gorgeous South African actress “shallow, dense and vapid” compared to their actress mom, who is every bit Sean’s intellectual match and worked on his political causes and charities, the source says. In sharp contrast, Charlize is from a small farming town and dropped out of high school to become a model. Although she went on to win an Oscar and Golden Globe for her performance in “Monster,” Dylan, a budding model, and Hopper, a college student and actor, are not impressed. “They latched onto her shortcomings and feel there’s no way she can fill Robin’s shoes,” said the insider.

Robin, 47, is now engaged to 14-years-younger actor Ben Foster, who is adored by the Penn kids. But while they have no problem with Robin’s “cougar” image, they seem to resent that Sean, who is 53, is dating a 38-year-old.

Unfortunately, Charlize got off on the wrong foot when she first met the Penn offspring and tried too hard to befriend them, according to the source. “She insisted they call her by her nickname, ‘Charlie,’ and tried talking about the music and films she thought they’d like. She cracked jokes, but the kids ended up laughing AT her instead of with her.”

[From The National Enquirer]

Eh. Don’t get me wrong, I think “Chuckles Theron” is funny in a cheesy way, but I’m not sure if I believe this. I mean, does the average 20 and 22-year-old really care that much about their dad’s new girlfriend? Plus, I’m still not convinced that Sean and Chuckles are talking about or thinking about marriage. Right now they’re in the first flush of lust-blindness and God knows if Sean has even introduced his kids to Charlize. Allegedly, though, Dylan is interested in the modeling-and-acting thing, so I’m not sure if alienating Chuckles is such a good idea. Last thing: Chuckles might not have a fancy education, but I think she’s probably pretty street-smart and she’s very involved in worthy charity work too.

that last pic is hilarious. he looks like a puppy following his owner. I don’t think this story is true. Charlize is very much into charity and seems quite intelligent. she may not compare to the kids mother but what woman can in their children’s eyes? this is still a weird couple…

    • Stinky says:

      She’s an MRF.

    • Erin says:

This story lost me right after the words “according to The National Enquirer.” Really? That’s a news source?

      • Rice says:

        BAHAHAHA! Same here!

      • mercy says:

National Enquirer, Star, InTouch, Life&Style, OK! and the blind item sites are the dregs of gossip reporting. At least the NE has uncovered a few big scandals over the years. The others just keep throwing the same predictable rumours out there and hoping they get lucky.

      • homegrrrrl says:

as a joke my roommate and I wallpapered our bathroom w/ the enquirer. all really pot smokers funny stuff

    • mercy says:

I don’t think it’s true, but I can believe there might be some unfavourable comparisons to their mom or some lingering resentment over their parents divorce, and Charlize could be trying too hard to please. It’s too easy to make up stories like this, though.

      • Kosmos says:

Exactly, maybe she comes up short compared to their wonderful mother, whom I also like, but Charlize doesn’t strike me as being shallow or vapid at all. Now…if he were still with Madonna, THAT would be someone I believe his children could hate on…..

    • JI'anna says:

I’m sorry, but Sean is ugly. There is nothing attractive about him. How he manages to date these younger women is beyond me. He must be very good in bed. His kids are Hollywood kids that were born with a silver spoon in their mouths living off mom and dad.

  2. Suze says:

    Chuckles – heh.

Still, Theron has never come across in the least bit stupid or vapid in any interview. Maybe to a twenty year old still smarting over their parent’s divorce she’s an idiot, but I have never seen any signs of it. Oh, other than taking up with Penn himself. That’s her foray into stupid.

    • Zbornak Syndrome says:

What I want to know is: Since when is having a high school education considered “fancy”?

  3. lucy2 says:

Yeah, that description of Charlize makes me doubt the story – she’s always struck me as pretty smart and aware of the world. Maybe not to the extent of Robin, but this makes it sound like she’s as vapid as a Kardashian.

    • Artemis says:

      Oh.

You should read about her trip to Budapest, except, she went to Istanbul. I mean: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-509292/Actress-Charlize-Therons-shaky-grasp-geography-I-adored-Turkey–capital-Budapest.html

Or when she (and Clooney to be fair) shut Viola Davis down during the Roundtable when Davis tried to describe her role as a black actor in Hollywood. Race politics, Theron doesn’t get it.

      • Sullivan says:

Yeah, she’s never come across as smart to me. Confident? Yes. Gorgeous? Yes. Smart? Not so much. I don’t even get the ‘street smart’ angle. I don’t think she’s a blooming idiot, though.

      • FingerBinger says:

That sounds like a brain fart. President Obama said he’d been in 57 states. It happens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpGH02DtIws

      • Artemis says:

        @sullivan:

Agreed. I don’t think she’s an idiot either but she is not incredibly intelligent.

        @FingerBinger
She mentioned it three times (Budapest). How long before her brain needs to catch up? Like how can you not recall where you have been? Three times?

      • MsT_Shady says:

+1 I remember that hot mess.

      • Becks says:

Artemis, she really isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed! She just can play it off because of her confidence.
I still gross out at the thought of her having sexy time with that angry little troll! 😉

      • SnarkySnarkers says:

Shes always bothered me for some reason so this story is hilarious to me. Plus, it sounds too stupid to make up. Chuckles? C’mon. I’m betting its true. I know I used to hate all my dads girlfriends too when I was their age.

    • mercy says:

Maybe she’s good at acting confident. I like Charlize, but I’ve sometimes sensed an uneasiness about her, like she is trying too hard to be cool.

    • mytbean says:

Isn’t Charlize a Mensa member? Of course, being academically inclined means nothing when it comes to common sense but…

      • Sullivan says:

Mensa? Where’d you hear that? PETA, maybe, but not Mensa. Are you thinking of Sharon Stone? She claimed to be a member of Mensa.

      • Size Does Matter says:

The only celeb I remember recently hearing is in MENSA was Ke$ha.

      • Liv says:

I think Steve Martin and that kid who plays Luke on Modern a Family (who also graduated high school at 13) are Mensa members. I’m sure there are more celebs that are also in Mensa, but I don’t think Charlize is one of them.

    • Twez says:

You can be smart/intelligent and still be under-educated. I don’t doubt someone who dropped out of high school to model has some gaps in her knowledge. That doesn’t mean she’s an idiot.

  4. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I wouldn’t really call 53 to 38 a May December relationship. It’s not as if she’s in her twenties.

If this is true, those are pretty shallow reasons for standing in the way of their dad’s happiness. Not sure I buy it, though.

    • whipmyhair says:

IF this story is true ot could be that their dad is living the stereotype. Older guy with younger woman to make him feel younger/wanted etc.

Note: I’m not saying that this is the case, but how it may look to others.

      • Katherine says:

I find the true stereotype to be thinking you must be with someone within 3 years your own age – with the man older. How limiting is that? I spent 14 years with a man 15 years older and the age difference is of no matter once you are an adult unless you are superficial to the core.

Anyway what man worth his salt lets the opinions of his spoiled adult children keep him from someone he loves? No shade from me toward this relationship. Hopefully Penn has left his anger and other issues behind. He is otherwise a very intelligent, reflective and interesting man. Personally it always makes me smile when I see people smitten or in love.

In the end why are we giving a second’s thought to garbage from the NE? Me included. Gossip is one thing, the NE is another.

    • linlin says:

Well, it’s pretty much the same age difference as Robin Wright and Ben (?) and people definitely commented on the age difference between them, so why shouldn’t they do the same thing with Charlize Theron and Sean Penn?

    • Kate says:

Perhaps their “dad’s happiness” has been lost on them after all his whoring about and general assholic behavior towards and while he was married to their mother. I can see them being more than a little bitter about him parading around town with Charlize.

      • evie says:

This is what I was thinking, too, Kate. Seems very plausible to me.

      • RedWeatherTiger says:

Yes. This. Remember when he was banging Charlotte Johanssen (or however we spell it)? Maybe they are just sick of him and taking out their irritation on his Flavor of the Week.

And yes, some 20-22 year olds DO care that much about the people their parents date.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Oh, I didn’t know about that. He cheated on Robin? I really don’t follow him. But shouldn’t they be mad at him, not her?

      • Lemon says:

        GoodNames-

Who knows if this story is true. I would, think, though, that if these children do have anger at their father for how he humiliated and mistreated their mother, they would not be inclined to view his girlfriends or relationships favorably. I would think this might be particularly the case if said girlfriend was some young, blond “new and improved” woman.

Sean Penn has never seemed to care about the happiness of anyone other than himself, so his kids may have grown not to care much about his happiness.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Lemon, thanks, that makes sense. As I said, I’m not really up on his personal life, so I probably shouldn’t have even commented on it.

      • pwal says:

Or… maybe they resent that, just now, Penn doesn’t have a problem with his significant other having a high-profile career. With Robin, she always seemed to defer to him, and now that she’s free of him, her career is on track and she’s getting more acclaim and she didn’t have to mine the public’s pity to get it.

On another note, the summer will mark the 30th anniversary of Santa Barbara’s debut on NBC. Santa Barbara is my favorite soap of all time and a large part of it was due to watching Robin’s growth during her stint there. I love that she’s getting shine now for her work on House of Cards.

    • Mel says:

      “What about August-December romance? ”

      More like early July-early September.
Unless one’s life expectancy is 55 or thereabouts.
(And such metaphors are stupid anyway, IMO.)

Regarding the “Budapest-capital-of-Turkey”… that’s seriously bad.
I never thought she was brilliant – I never thought much about her anway, come to think of it – and I know that learning doesn’t equal inteligence.
      But THAT is pretty bad.
Europe is such a small continent – with such historical relevance, for better or for worse – so I cannot really think of a good excuse for that. I would never have thought she’d buy into the “Planet” Hollywood thing.

    • FLORC says:

      GoodNames
I still appreciate your comment. Though you’re not up on Penn news your point is still valid. If this story is true his kids are being very immature. They’re not taking the high road and being shallow and immature instead. And i’m pretty sure Penn cheated on Robin. It was always just understood he treated her poorly.

      • John Wayne Lives says:

This, and we all know family dynamics can be weird. But I think Penn it’s a major down grade for CT, it’s gonna end badly for her. And I love love love RW, so I’m glad she’s happy now.

  5. Lisa says:

Dylan is a knockout. Wow- thank goodness she took after her mother!

    • Sullivan says:

Right? Dylan is a beauty. I have no idea if she’s a pleasant person. Her brother doesn’t sound particularly charming. I think ‘Chuckles’ is a relatively harmless nickname. It’s not that uncommon for siblings to have such nicknames for the people their parents start dating. As long as they aren’t rude to Chuckles.

    • break says:

Perhaps she had a nose job or some other surgery to get rid of the Penn factor.

      • snickers says:

their son DEF didn’t take after mom!
don’t see what the draw is to SP for women

      • Predictable says:

Yeah I saw a pic of her at a Laker game with her family, she looked to be about 16, and she had a honker just like her Dad and brother. Resembled Leah Michelle a bit. So yeah, nose job.

    • mercy says:

Funny, because I was thinking she looks quite a bit like her dad. I think it’s the lips. Sean Penn was not a bad looking young man.

      • Mrs Odie says:

Sean Penn has pencil-thin, villainous lips. Robin Wright has the full, non-collagen pucker, and it looks like both kids inherited it. Hopper (poor kid – that name) has something of his mother in the eyes. Both do, but he definitely looks like Jeff Spicoli. Dylan has a mouth breather thing going on in that picture. They’re not spoiled Hollywood kids. They’re spoiled Marin County kids. The Penns moved to the most expensive county in California when the kids were babies.

  6. snakecharmer says:

when i was like 28 i was dating a guy who had a 21 year old daughter and she was a stone cold b towards me. so i do think that kids that age can give attitude to their dads girlfriends

    • gaggles says:

…I mean not gonna lie dude. If my dad were dating someone 28 and I was 21, I don’t think I would have handled it “maturely” either.

    • Cazzee says:

My former father-in-law’s second marriage was pretty much scuttled by his 20 year old daughter, who never accepted or approved of the match – the way the introduction was handled was a big mistake on his part – he was just like, “Here’s your new future stepmother. We’re getting married.”

And although techncially at 20 my sister-in-law was out of the house, she was still spending time there and still had her own room to stay in – not a guest room. It’s not like she was in her 30’s and married with kids of her own.

So my guess is that Sean Penn botched the introduction, things got off on the wrong foot, and now he’s rushing the relationship so much that there’s no time for a do-over. In other words, totally inconsiderate towards his kids.

      • gg says:

I’ve seen this before too. Some kids absolutely refuse to accept a “replacement” for their mother and never let it go, which is a pretty sad and closed minded way to live.

      • mercy says:

Some parents expect their kids to accept anything they throw at them, without cosideration for their feelings. I’m not saying kids should be allowed to control their parents decisions, but sometimes parents don’t handle these situations well, as Cazzee illustrated.

  7. Aria says:

Charlize doesn’t seem vapid to me. Maybe a little bitchy.

  8. Stephanie says:

I may be in the minority, but I think they make a good couple. At first, I thought WTF?? Now, I can see them together.

    • FingerBinger says:

They seem like a good match to me too. The Enquirer clearly doesn’t know what to do with Sean and Charlize as a couple. First he was using her to get back at Robin, then Charlize’s mother doesn’t want her to date Sean ,now Sean ‘s kids hate Charlize. Right. The kids don’t have a problem with their mother dating a younger man,but they have a problem with their father dating a younger woman? OK. Neither Robin or Sean have college educations, but the kids are judging Charlize’s educational background. Whatever Enquirer.

  9. Tapioca says:

Hopper Penn sounds like an event at the Redneck Games. That’s all I got…

  10. Mystified says:

Sean Penn’s “intellectual equal”?! Blindly supporting Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez is pretty dumb. if Sean Penn wants to find his “intellectual equal” maybe he should date Jenny McCarthy.

  11. Salam says:

How did Sean, do this?Dear God.

    • OriginallyBlue says:

Right! He is so gross, superficially his children are very attractive. His son sounds like a douchebag, but he is easy on the eyes.

      • katy says:

Hopper is just like his dad, character wise. He’s a narcissistic, rude, nasty creature, AND he has some racism thrown in him. With all that, I could never find that brat attractive.

  12. Lark says:

I doubt this is true, but if a college drop-out turned minor model and a little shit like Hopper who thinks nothing of dropping the N word look down on Charlize because she came from a poor background and doesn’t have much of an education….well, they need a reality check.

I am still baffled as to why Charlize, who grew up with an abusive father, is dating a man with police documented spousal abuse issues and was getting into fights up until recently….and one whose son freely tossed around the N word when she has a black son.

    • CaribbeanLaura says:

+1. As far as I’m concerned Charlize should be the one keeping HER son away from the Penn spawn, particularly Hopper(Lord that’s not a good name.)

    • Shannon1972 says:

+ 1. I was going to raise the same questions. Makes absolutely no sense – I would think Sean Penn would be the last person in Hollywood she would date. He’s a walking train wreck about to happen.

    • MsT_Shady says:

@Lark you are dropping truth bombs ALL OVER this site!

    • MaiGirl says:

Bingo! It’s really making me think differently about her judgment, because, as a mother, it’s not just about her. She’s dating a known volatile and violent man with a racist son following in his aggro footsteps. That’s just not okay.

  13. blue marie says:

If Charlize were so street smart then she would never have started dating Penn in the first place. I don’t believe they are talking marriage though. It’s possible the kids dislike her (Chuckles is not a horrible nickname though) but I doubt they’d stand in the way of their dads happiness.

    • Maya says:

Agree 100 percent. If Charlize was street smart she would know that a leopard never changes its spots. Sean is an abuser and shouldnt be let near a child.

  14. Mar says:

Charlize looks like a major biatch

  15. gogoGorilla says:

    Chuckles. ROFL.

I didn’t realize Chuckles dropped out of high school. And even though the source is sketchy, it’s entirely possible for adult children to disapprove of their parents’ dating activities. It’s pretty common, actually.

  16. Maritza says:

I doubt she’ll end up marrying him, she didn’t marry Townsend and they were a couple for many years. She’ll find out how bad tempered he really is and that will happen once the passion cools off.

    • Maureen says:

I think Chuckles/Charlie likes to be the head B in charge with regards to her relationships with men. Townsend lasted a long time because he’s chill and passive. Sean Penn is neither chill nor passive, but he IS a 50-plus year old lonely guy who has trouble keeping a relationship and maybe doesn’t want to be alone. I think he’s desperate and is putting on an act for Chucks right now (an act that he might even believe is real — he might actually believe she has CHANGED him) in order to keep her. But just wait until the bloom falls off the rose and he gets tired of pretending to be cool with her domineering ways. This relationship is doomed no matter what.

  17. starrywonder says:

I just can’t understand how Charlize can look into his grunting/red face when they are…engaged. I be ready to lose my lunch.

  18. HadleyB says:

You care about your parents boyfriend/girlfriend at ANY age because they become part of your life if it gets serious.

Even if it’s not serious you have to deal with them in some way until it ends.

I think they hate her for other reasons than trying too hard. What about his other women he dated? Scarlett ? Was she so great?

  19. Bea says:

I can’t believe that Charlize is as smart as everyone claims she is since she hooks up with a man who is famous for his anger issues (given her own history) and has a son who is an angry racist (given her own son)?

I hope for that little boy’s sake that this is all a PR romance.

And as heartless as it may sound, if Penn turns his anger on her the way he did Madonna? She really cannot complain since his past is not a secret.

  20. Patricia says:

If you are a “budding model” at 22 then you have already missed the boat. Every celeb’s daughter uses this “career path” of “I want to model” as an excuse to do nothing with her life.
And what are the chances that these two Penn offspring are not total jerks and horrible people? I’d say pretty slim. They are the spawn of Sean Penn and, even if their mother is a great person, they grew up overpriveleged in a volatile household. Charlize shouldn’t give a fart about their opinions.

  21. Fernanda says:

Well I am stunned how beautiful these children are considering that Sean is their dad (nothing against him, he’s just not the most handsome in the lot). Robin’s genes are a blessing.

  22. eliza says:

I have read that Theron has a very juvenile sense of humor. Several past co-stars who have adored her have talked about her tendency to enjoy toilet humor and jokes on set a lot. Not saying it is a bad thing just saying this story doesn’t seem too far afield.

I am sure to most kids of divorced parents, the girlfriends always seem less intelligent than the mother, whether it is true or not.

I am among the rare who has never been a big fan of Theron. I don’t find her to be that great of an actress and while she is attractive, she is not the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    • katy says:

“Several past co-stars who have adored her have talked about her tendency to enjoy toilet humor and jokes on set a lot.”

Explains why she is attracted to a sentient, walking crapper.

  23. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Got a good chuckle off the headline for this article thank you 🙂

  24. HappyMom says:

I’m wondering if Charlize having a small child and his “stepping in” to be a father figure is annoying to them. I can see the daughter being bothered by this. In my experience, young guys really don’t care who their father dates-so I’m going to doubt Hopper has a problem with Charlize.

  25. phlyfiremama says:

She isn’t trying to fill Robin’s shoes~she wears her own just fine. OF COURSE she would make extra effort to get along and bond with her boyfriend’s children~duh. This proves they are STILL very much children.

  26. lunchcoma says:

Isn’t Scarlett Johansson younger than Charlize, by a good margin? I wonder how the Penn kids felt about that relationship.

  27. Jessica says:

“I don’t know all that much about Sean Penn and Robin Wright’s kids. I know Dylan Penn, 22, is very pretty and that she probably banged Robert Pattinson a few times last year. ”

    THIS – YES!!!

  28. Sorella says:

It’s funny that someone with such a B-face like Charlize would be nicknamed Chuckles!! It’s the complete opposite to how she comes across (I really think there is no other actress that comes across so snarky-mad-bitchy as CT). She seems confident, bitchy and condescending, but I don’t think I have ever thought of her as smart when she talks. Robin does sound smarter.

And YES teens and young adults in their 20s DO care about who their parents are dating LOTS. My divorced sister’s 4 kids range from 17 to 25 and they ALL have an opinion about their Dad and Mom’s partners. I used to think it was because they compare their parent to the new squeeze, but the irony is their observations 2 years later turned out right!!

  29. Sorella says:

    would be *nicknamed*….

  30. umyeah says:

Actually, charlize does come off pretty dense and vapid in interviews. I think robin is definitely more intelligent and well rounded.

  31. menlisa says:

Why does everyone think they have been dating for only 8 weeks?
They’ve been together for a lot longer than that.

  32. Monroe says:

Um, the Enquirer? doesn’t that automatically mean it’s hot air? Dylan Penn is gorgeous, though and I’m happy Robin’s found her groove. Charlize and Sean – I don’t care.

  33. amilu says:

How do the kids get along with Sean Penn? I might’ve missed it if you mentioned it here, but I kind of get the impression that it’s not just dad’s girlfriend they have beef with. Maybe they still resent him for how he treated their mother. No woman would be good enough to replace their mother. Or maybe it’s that Charlize and RW don’t look that different these days; maybe they think Sean chose Charlize because of this. In any event, it’s a fairly effective passive aggressive way to get back at dad.

    • mercy says:

I don’t know about his daughter, but he was seen partying with his son. I got the impression Dad was his buddy and role model

  34. Leah says:

I am no charlize fan, but someone who drops the N word and someone who models and dates Twilight stars have no room to talk about shallow, dense and vapid. In fact Charlize should be more worried having her african american kid around people who think its cool to drop the N word.

    • Observer says:

Her son is no more African American* than Charlize is, he is South African just like her.

*African American are those descendant from slaves who came from various part of West and Central Africa to America.

Charlize and her son would be South African-Americans. Just as someone from say Italy would be Italian-American etc.

      • cr says:

Jackson was born in the US.

      • Observer says:

So..? That doesn’t make him African-American (read above what African American means/is).

      • Adear says:

Wow thats some kind of logic.

      • bluhare says:

I’ve never heard that definition and went over to google to learn more. I couldn’t find anything. Could you help?

      • Observer says:

You’ve never heard what? That African American refers to those descendants from slaves? And google? Google what exactly? I suppose wikipedia is as good as any other source so start there.
First though, you must understand the difference beteen being and self identifying.
I’d also suggest reading sojournerspassport and muslim bushido’s blogs that talk about this in much more depth and the blogger/stress is an African American woman herself and does take offense to non-AA’s hijacking her own ethnic group which frankly, African Americans are due to their own unique history and mixed ancestry (not referring to direct admixture).

Another thing that offends is anyone with black ancestry/skin being referred to as “African American” when they know which country in Africa they are from.
As an example, an Ethiopian person moves to America….are they “African American”, or are they “Ethiopian-American”?
And also, why can a German (white) person move to America and be called “German-American”? Although to be honest, they usually aren’t hyphenated at all as they slip in comfortably with the majority of other white Americans who are simply “Americans” but that’s another topic all in itself.
Africa is a huge continent, not a country, yet people seem to forget this, even the most liberal well-read–well-travelled–American let it slip every now and then and the ignorance shows.

    Their body language is off…

  36. kellyinseattle says:

Sean Penn is lucky that she’ll even go out with him.

  37. Fan says:

I think the reason the kids hate her because she makes their dad look stupid. Following her like a sick puppy.

  38. Kelly says:

Sean Penn is a 1st class a**hole, abuser of women and alcohol, and Hollywood’s biggest dick.
Those kids should be happy any woman is interested in him (though why any woman would be is beyond me). But I guess fame and money go a long way.
And his daughter seems more to be more like him really.

  39. Mrs.Krabapple says:

Admittedly I don’t know them (obviously), but my impression is that Theron is too good for Penn. Hopefully she’ll come to her senses.

  40. Denise says:

The story is bull, but I’m immensely enjoying the first photo of Sean Penn – he has succumbed to Ethan Hawke syndrome!

  41. joan says:

Someday Dylan may look at that pic of her mouth hanging out like that and be very, very embarrassed.

  42. strawberry says:

Ugh. Is Sean Penn sucking the pretty out of Charlize like he did with Scarlett? Because she looks older and stressed out — pissed at him, maybe?

Anyway, who cares even if his kids don’t approve? As if Charlize Theron needs approval from that racist son. (Don’t know anything about the daughter) Hoping she’ll dump Sean Penn soon because he doesn’t deserve anyone like her. Really, any woman should keep as far away from him as possible.

  43. lily says:

Street-smart? nah…..Wasn’t she the one sued by Raymond Weil after she was photographed wearing a Dior watch during a press conference at the Texas Film Festival 08?

Charlize was contractually bound to wear Raymond Weil watches in public and after that “smart move?” landed herself with a huge compensation bill for having broken the terms of a lucrative endorsement deal.

Btw, she contended that she had no idea that she was being photographed. As it turned out, two different photographers had taken snaps and one snap was actually used in a Christian Dior advertisement that claimed that Charlize wore only Christian Dior, lolz.

  44. Moi says:

Wow they made pretty babies, that’s for sure.

  45. Mikka says:

The kids were with their mom at thursday’s night screening of House of Cards in L.A. They’re clearly very much attached to their mother, they’re very prod of her and respect her. I think that they love their father, of course, but my opinion is that they know his d-bag behavior too much and the way he deals with women and tend to not take that seriously every catch he brings home (What respectful father introduces many come-and-go women to his children’s lives every couple of months? Penn is not a good dad, WITHOUT a doubt)

    • FingerBinger says:

Clearly you lived in their house and know what kind of relationship they have with their father. Dylan was at Sean’s Haiti benefit just last month. Both Dylan and Hopper were photographed at dinner with their father a little while ago. There have also been pictures of Hopper with Sean in Cannes a few years ago. So clearly they support both of their parents. Neither of us knows what kind of parent he is. How do you know who he’s introduced to his children? You’re making making a lot of assumptions.

      • murumuri says:

I think Mikka has a point: Since the divorce Penn has publicly dated: Petra Nemcova, Scatlet Johannson, that Shannon girl, Jessica White and a couple of other minor flings with Valeria Golino and Florence Welch. And Now Charline.
Robin just dated Greg Shapiro before Ben Foster.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the kids doesn’t take seriously Penn’s new girlfriend: for them is just another one from the list and will be replaced soon. On the other hand their mother’s much more stable love life makes the kids feel more sympathy and may I say respectful towards Ben Foster, who’s about to marry Robin. Stability is important when you’re a Hollywood kid, I guess is a rare value in Tinseltown.

  46. cooper says:

My son was Hooper’s classmate when they lived in Marin. They always came across as down to earth and polite kids. When Hopper was a little kid, he was the spitting image of his mother, I see that growing up he looks more like his father. Robin was always behind them, I don’t recall seeing a nanny or an assistant coming to the school to pick them up. Always her. Never him.

PS Robin Wright is a stunning woman.

  47. murumuri says:

Jesus, can she take him shopping for a new more natural-looking toupee at least. Seems he put a death cat on top of his head. And what’s up with her double chin in the third pic? Kids are cute, they have to thank God for the Buttercup’s dominant genes.

  48. sugar says:

at 23 i did not resent my new 28 year old “stepmom” it was awkward as hell but i never thought of her as a SM-just my dads wife…the marriage didn’t last anyway. I resented my dads affairs through my formative years. So when “miss 28” came along maybe i was like over it in the resentment department plus by then i was out on my own. Who am i kidding my parents marriage woes set me up for a string of disastrous relationships which is why i finally figured out being the single “imaginary cat” lady works best for me.
after reading the comments about Budapest i think i am going to watch “the little shop around the corner” love that movie
OT i have been “sugar” since 2010 when i discover CB i see another sugar so i can be sugar1.

  49. Skye says:

This seems pretty unlikely, and if it IS true, then it sounds like the Penn-Wright mini-me’s (seriously, the resemblance is perfect) could use a trip to the attitude-adjustment shed. You’re that old, you’re old enough to let your parents live their lives and you live yours. It’s not like their mom is dead and Daddy’s “replacing” her. It’s not like Charlize is grounding them or telling them they can’t go out on a school night. And it’s not even like Charlize is such a baby that the age difference is awkward. Good grief, she’s 38. She could BE their mom.

  50. Dommy Dearest says:

Why does Chuckles look so angry now? Must be mad she dropped her hot piece Stuart Townsend.

  51. Juan says:

i would really really really really really like to ear Sean Penn’s opinion about the riots in Venezuela. He was all hugs and kisses with Chávez…

  52. Jelly says:

Wow. This is some serious girl-shit here. I have a hard time believing there is veracity to any of this ‘strife,’ but if there is, it seems to involved an exceptionally kind view of Robin Wright and an egregiously dim view of Charlize Theron. Sorry, but Theron’s involvement in political action in Africa (especially AIDS treatment and awareness) is top notch. Her foundation work focuses upon funding locally run initiatives and she has worked for several years with the South African government, NGOs & the UN. She seems like she is pretty easy going, but based on her personal history, I expect that is a conscious choice. I cannot say I understand what is happening with this whole Sean Penn thing, but her taste in men has always been pretty subpar.

  53. ParisPucker says:

He looks like my leather purse from the 80s – but only after it’s been run over 30 times, and then was happened upon a pack of coyotes who continued to chew on it, the urinate on it, only to leave it in the sun for weeks before it was found by Theron. Then it was love..

  54. Ms.Martin says:

Nasty spoiled kids of his … His daughter better realize she’s not that special and she may want to close her mouth …. And his son is hideously ugly … Just more entitled shi$$y kids of famous people

  55. Other Renee says:

Hopper looks like James Franco. Smirk and all.

  56. lady_luck says:

Spoilt brats. They should give Charlize a break, some father’s girlfriends don’t even make any effort with the kids at all. Robin has evidently moved on with her life, the kids should accept that, and let their dad move on in peace too.
