Charlie Sheen’s ex, Brooke Mueller, blocking twins’ test for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome

Brooke Mueller Takes Her Boys On A Hike

While I was browsing Charlie Sheen’s crack tweets for pictures of his 24 year-old pr0n star fiance, I found a photo card of his twin five year-old boys, Max and Bob. It was a Valentine’s card to Charlie and his new fiance, Brett, (her nickname is Scotty) from the twins’ mom, Brooke Mueller. It had some filters, heart clip art and fancy fonts. It looked like a blatant attempt by Brooke to suck up to Charlie and his new piece. It obviously worked, since Charlie posted it on Twitter. Here it is.

Brooke is said to be playing nice with Charlie in an attempt to regain custody of the twins and have her $55,000 a month in child support reinstated. (Her brother is currently the twins’ legal guardian, and her support has been cut in half.) Radar reports that Charlie is responding, and that he plans on letting Brooke move back into the mansion he purchased for her in his gated community. Charlie previously put the estate up for sale for $4.8 million, but it hasn’t sold yet. According to Radar, the plan is for Brooke to move back in to the mansion once she has full custody.

All of that probably won’t go off without a hitch, and it’s likely that things have already soured between the Charlie and Brooke. The former couple are reportedly due in court Thursday for a custody hearing. (Although Radar claims that the hearing was scheduled for today and has been continued until May 21.) TMZ reports that Brooke had previously agreed to have the twins tested for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, but is now working to block the test. Of course she is.

Brooke Mueller is desperately trying to stop a test that could show her substance abuse caused serious damage to her twin boys … so claims the twins’ father, Charlie Sheen.

Sources connected to their custody war tell TMZ … Brooke had agreed to have Bob and Max tested for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), but at the last second she did an about face and filed legal docs to block the test.

Brooke claims the kids are fine, so there’s no need for a test.

Charlie vehemently disagrees, claiming the kids have real issues and an FAS test could help in the treatment.

TMZ broke the story … Denise Richards told DCFS Bob and Max tortured the family dog and viciously attacked her two daughters, strangling and punching them … even throwing feces at one of them. And the kids were violent at school, hurting other kids and punching a teacher in the face

Charlie and Brooke will fight it out in court Thursday. The judge could order the FAS test.

[From TMZ]

As TMZ mentioned, Denise Richards wrote a heartfelt letter to the Department of Child and Family Services last year detailing why she could no longer care for the twins. They were being violent to her daughters and pets, and it would happen randomly in a way she felt unable to control. At that time, Brooke also blocked all attempts by Denise to get professional help for the boys.

Violent and inappropriate behavior are a characteristic of FAS. Brooke has been to rehab over 20 times, including while she was pregnant. It’s very likely that the twins have FAS and that they need professional help, but it’s not about their well being, it’s about Brooke. Still, she’s playing nice with Charlie and “Scotty,” so I doubt Charlie will put his foot down and demand the test. He isn’t ranting about Brooke on Twitter or calling her creatively horrible names, he’s just mildly complaining to TMZ. When Charlie is pissed off, we’ll definitely know about it.

It just gets sadder and sadder.

  2. MonicaQ says:

All the people who would’ve been good parents that can’t have kids due to one reason or another don’t, while these two yokels have them, don’t appreciate them, and use them just for bargaining chips. Just sad.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

So sad. And so very unfair.

    • megs283 says:

Yeah. All these annoying celebs (e.g. Simon Cowell) popping out babies in sketchy circumstances gets my blood boiling. These morons don’t know how much of a blessing a healthy child is.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Of all the unfair things in life this is blatantly so. They don’t appreciate the most valuable gift they have – a child is more precious than any bling or $$$ especially to have a healthy child.

  3. Stef Leppard says:

Those poor boys. A child is so beautiful, sweet, and innocent. It breaks my heart to think about these unloved, neglected little darlings. I wish they could have stayed with Denise. She was their only hope.

    • FLORC says:

      True enough.
And there’s nothing about this woman I can like or defend. She’s terrible and those poor boys are just child support to her. Ugh.

  4. Mayamae says:

If her brother is the guardian, isn’t he the one legally making these decisions?

    • Kiddo says:

      Good question.

      • HannahF says:

No. The child is under the jurisdiction of DCFS. Depending on the order either DCFS or the judge makes the ultimate decision

    • Tig says:

Depends on state law- even if a child is in state custody- and don’t think these two technically are- if the law still allows parents to have a say in consents to medical treatment, then she could possibly block the tests. In such a case, tho, a court order could be pursued so that the agency could have the test done w/o parental consent.

And CS is talking about having more kids- it never ends.

  5. Anthea says:

In so far as you can tell from a photo, they do have the ‘look’ that fetal alcohol syndrome sufferers can have.

The thing is, whether they have it or not, there’s clearly enough concern about their development that their mother should be getting them assessed and into developmental therapy. There’s no excuse for children from a wealthy family to not be getting care. There’s enough parents spending all they have on medical treatment for their kids, it’s utterly disgusting to think that someone who can well afford it is refusing because (presumably) she’s concerned the blame will be put at her door.

    • frisbeejada says:

agree with you, that’s what I wanted to say – you said it a lot better.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      +1
She is concerned about no one but herself.

    • Evi says:

Actually they don’t have the three features for FAS. Go and look at more images to note. There are plenty of images online.

      • Megshere says:

        Actually, they do.
features include small eyes, an exceptionally thin upper lip, a short, upturned nose, and a smooth skin surface between the nose and upper lip

      • Anthea says:

It was the eyes I was thinking of in the first photo – they looked like they had the fold. But you can’t tell these things for sure from photos.

Shocking that their father is leaking all this stuff. What JEM said below is so right – it should be confidential.

      • kmw97 says:

I agree, funny how people see what they want to. These boys actually have “big” eyes and both mom and dad have small upper lip… so that characteristic is genetics. Their behavior could be due to numerous other things. It is amazing how people want to label and diagnose these boys when they have never even spent a minute in their presence. Shameful… leave it to the professionals people.

    • Patricia says:

Honest question, what is the “look” of FAS? I did not know that there was an outward physical attribute.

  6. Aims says:

These boys really have no chance. Both their parents are a mess. Mom’s an addict and dads bipolar. What makes me even more angry is that nobody is being their advocate. Instead of getting the boys some help it’s like Brooke doesn’t want to get busted that she used in her pregnancy.

In my state they automatically test babies for drugs it doesn’t matter who they are.

  7. JEM says:

I work in the courthouse where this is all happening. The entire case – from the investigation by DCFS to what’s actually happening in court- is supposed to be confidential. It’s really unfortunate that someone is leaking all this information. Whoever it is should be fired or sanctioned.
These kids, and their parents, have a right to have all of this confidential. I seriously hope Charlie Sheen isn’t leaking all of this info to Radar or TMZ.

Also, the uncle is just a caretaker of the kids for now. He doesn’t get the final say in what testing they get.

    • Celebitchy says:

JEM, TMZ says that Charlie Sheen is the source. He’s been leaking the info all along. Denise Richards even said that she never meant for her letter to DCFS to go public. She wouldn’t name Charlie as the leak, but she heavily insinuated it was him.

      • Kiddo says:

I completely buy that. He is a master manipulator and TMZ is a tool, collectively made up of tools.

That really says something about how much Charlie would rather destroy someone, even if the collateral damage involves his own kids, smh.

      • Jennifer12 says:

Someone like that is not the victim of women- he victimizes them. He uses and abuses them for what he can get and then throws money at them. Who would want to be tied to this lunatic with kids? And does he have ANY friends, or just porno companions?

      • JEM says:

Yeah, I’m sure it’s him. Ugh. He is the worst. Also, a personal response from CB? Awesome!

      • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Charlie Freak wants his kids to be as messed up as himself – this will follow them for life – it seems they aren’t being allowed to have a childhood.

    • lunchcoma says:

I agree. It would be a shame if someone involved in the case is leaking it. It wouldn’t surprise me if it were Charlie. This is the sort of information that a child should be allowed to have some privacy about, especially given how stigmatized FAS is.

  8. serena says:

And she’ll gain full custody too. That’s how the system works, it seems. I’m so angry and speechless everytime I read about the twins’s parents.. two great pieces of………………..work..

    • John Wayne Lives says:

Brooke just wants $$ imo, and those boys are her gravy train. Is it evil for me to think the only chance those boys have is for their mother to OD??

  9. Kali says:

Of course she is. Those poor boys.

  10. Quinn Parker says:

Those poor boys really lost the parent lottery.

  11. Evi says:

There is no specific or single test, but rather an assessment of various criteria based on 4 diagnostic systems. Either way they need testing, for the significant behavioural problems the allegedly have and the torture of animals and violence toward other kids should have set alarm bells, for a legal body or department to override the parents (Brooke) regarding tests.

    • Amanda_M87 says:

I figured as much. FAS isn’t genetic so the only way they can diagnose it is subjectively by looking at the symptoms and Brooke’s drinking history. How sad.

    • Cazzee says:

Exactly. The children need an assessment. Even if they don’t have FAS, they are clearly in need of developmental therapy and professional help.

So sad all around. Those poor kids – poverty is when you need more than you have, and even though they are surrounded by millions of dollars in terms of support and guidance, they might as well have nothing in terms of how much help they’re getting.

  12. Ag says:

Poor kids. This is really heartbreaking.

  13. truthful says:

    sadsadsad story

  14. eliza says:

I know a woman who is like Mueller who will not allow her children to be tested. Her eldest daughter is literally suffering at school and the woman refuses any and all testing that might explain her social awkwardness and her inability to do well academically. Her only concern is someone finding out what she did during her 3 pregnancies when we ALL know anyway. Her parents are frantically trying to help their grandchildren but to no avail.

Sad selfish parents like these who abuse alcohol and dtugs while they are pregnant and refuse to see if their children have issues as a result of their actions out of fear for their own reputations and guilt.

    • Jennifer12 says:

Isn’t it scary what being a biological parent gives you rights to do? Or, as Dennis Lehane would say, this is America, where every parent has the inalienable right to eat his/her young.

  15. dorothy says:

Just the fact that she is trying to block test, speaks volumes.

    • Jennifer12 says:

Can’t Charlie allow it? He is biologically a parent, and that’s about it, but in CA, shouldn’t that be enough?

  16. Redheadwriter says:

I live and work with FASD daily. I have four children who were prenatally exposed and my life’s work with dedicated to educating and supporting folks whose lives were affected by FASD. Most addicts focus on their drug of choice – in Brooke’s case, meth – and don’t realize that sometimes even a single solitary drink during pregnancy can be so damaging. These boys will continue to only be treated and reacted to based upon their behaviors and not the root cause — organic brain damage — unless they are fully diagnosed. There are tons of supports, tools, and resources out there if it’s based on what is truly organically damaged, and the help of a proper diagnoses can make or break these boys. I hate to admit it, but Charlie’s right on this one.

  17. Alexis says:

What is she even afraid of? Everyone knows she’s a druggie and she will probably still get full custody, knowing the probate system. These poor boys! Ironically if everyone involved were poor, they’d probably be under Denise’s full care. Money and press and two horrible people for parents are destroying these kids. What hope have they not to be dead, in jail, or addicts by 30? Barely any.

  18. Dizzle says:

So, not siding with anybody in this debacle, but just because the kids have behavioral problems doesn’t mean that they have FAS.

    • OriginallyBlue says:

That is true, but their mother is an addict and was in rehab while pregnant with them, so the chances are great that there is something wrong with them. If there is nothing wrong with them, then getting them assessed isn’t going to hurt them. It may even help her in trying to show she is fit to care for them.

    • Redheadwriter says:

In my experience, having children with an FASD, working in the field, and providing supports to families, when there’s any drug use, the likelihood of alcohol use increases. The woman has been in and out of treatment more than 20 times, with several of those occurring while pregnant. Addicts use anything at their disposal, and even though her drug of choice is meth, alcohol use probably occurred. Between her history and the list of behavioral problems of the boys, I would be quite shocked if they did not have an FASD. My kids’ bio mom was a meth addict. She only focused on her use and abuse of that drug. Yet, all three of them have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders because, although not often, she drank during her pregnancies. It sometimes only takes one drink, and an addict fighting a meth addiction is not going to think those few drinks are a problem.

    • Jennifer12 says:

Absolutely true, but- as someone who works with kids that have been exposed to drugs and alcohol- it is the severity of the behavior that lets you know if it’s organic or environmental. In these poor boys’ cases, both parents are addicts and it’s a terrible cocktail because the boys were exposed in the womb and are being exposed daily to addicts and their lives. They need intensive therapy, medication and a specialized school setting. And Charlie wants more kids?

  19. itstrue says:

I know this is horrible to think, but every time I see the picture next to the dumpster, I think the cameras caught her while she was trying to put him in. I guess I have very clear feelings about how she treats her kids.

  20. Susan says:

She is like a female version of him. Yikes.

  21. silly you says:

they need to test them for this? i’m pretty sure both parents have ‘blood’ that is 50% booze, 40% crack pipe residue and 10%…yeah, no one knows what the other 10% is.

  22. Alexa says:

    1. I agree that THIS is absolutely something that is none of the public’s business, and whoever leaked this info . . .

    2. More than Brooke or any other poor women who has gotten tide-up with Charlie, I REALLY WILL NOT FEEL SATISFIED until “CHARLIE” is held accountable for the relentless familial abuse and gross parental negligence he has caused and continues to cause. In particular and minimally, I’d like to see a halt to Charlie being hired for THOUSANDS & MILLIONS of dollars to be on t.v. and in movies – HE’S DETESTABLE. I’d also like to see an end to any more “Roasts” and similar public spectacles of “good-natured ribbing of that CELEBRATED rogue, Charlie Sheen.”

Dare I say that I find it just as revolting that he continues to be celebrated in this way as I do the whole Woody Allen thing from a couple of weeks ago. Maybe even moreso.

He’s already got enough money. I wish they’d freeze his assets (except for a minimal amount for him to live) and put the rest aside for his kids.

  23. judyjudy says:

These people give me a headache.

I cannot imagine living a life like this.

  24. Pumpkin Pie says:

Would it be possible for the twins to have a court appointed lawyer? Since their parents do not seem to have their best interest at heart? I apologize for sounding ignorant, I have no idea how this works.
I am getting tired of these two. And Brandi and Ediot. Some parents. But Brandi and Ediot win over the other two.

  25. deehunny says:

inappropriate and violent behavior is also a symptom of the autism spectrum. many times FAS is misdiagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. very sad.

    • Danskins says:

Violence is not associated with being on the autism spectrum. Most autistic people are known to be shy and socially awkward instead of violent. Its an unfortunate stereotype.

  26. Skye says:

Of course Charlie’s not TOO mad. Brooke’s only neglecting and abusing his kids…as long as she sucks up to his new ho, her priorities are clearly on the “winning” path.

  27. Goddess says:

Well this story just made me feel a wee bit bitter. It’s so wonderful how women who treat their bodies like sh*t are able to have children, twins at that. While I have to endure painful transvaginal ultrasounds, headaches and shell out cash for my hormonal therapy just to ovulate and have the chance to bear new life.

  28. Vilodemeanus says:

The judge is an idiot, and it does make you wonder what transaction inspired that ruling as Brooke was in treatment 2 times during the pregnancy, and heart disorders are a symptom of FAS and Bob had heart surgery as a days old infant. Bingo!, plus he has a “look” about him that the other child doesn’t have. This was about money and custody, Brooke is broke and wants to live high on the hog, she’s not a socialite – her mother married well, Brooke is a well known failure who has always failed… at everything other than hitting the Charlie Sheen lottery and fell into a pile of crack and meth. The judge should feel shame, early intervention is essential and a diagnosis isn’t unwarranted under the circumstances that are well documented.
