Wrestler ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is incredibly, obscenely pro-gay marriage

wenn1192576

I’m not a fan of wrestling in any way, shape or form. I only have a vague knowledge that there is a person who goes by the name “Stone Cold Steve Austin” and that he’s a big deal in the wrestling community and a big deal to wrestling fans. Before today, I probably wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a line-up. But now I know who he is. Because Mr. Stone Cold went OFF during his podcast a few months ago and now the whole thing has gone viral recently. Mr. Stone Cold, a born-and-bred Texan, is all about being pro-gay marriage. He has really strong feelings about it too, and he goes off in a really wonderfully profane way.

The audio is super-duper NSFW, so just beware:

Mr. Stone Cold says, in part:

“… I don’t give a s–t if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the g–damn world, that wants to be married, and if it’s same-sex, more power to ’em….What also chaps my ass, some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say ‘we as a church do not believe in that.’ Which one of these motherf—kers talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do? Can you verify? Can you give me some background on that 411? OK, so two cats can’t get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to f–king prison, and accept God and He’s going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that s–t? See that’s all horses–t to me, that don’t jive with me.”

This is what I was talking about in the Billy Bob Thornton story too, and full disclosure, I’m guilty of these kinds of stereotyping habits as well. If you asked me how a big white wrestler from Texas felt about same-sex marriage, I would assume that he would fall in line with Phil Robertson. But here is Stone Cold Steve Austin, a hero to young, straight men all around the country, and he sounds like he’s about to receive a GLAAD Ally Award. Am I the only one tearing up a little bit?

    • V4Real says:

Austin 3:16 or was it 19. That was his moniker.

Why should we love this interview? Becasue Stone Cold said so. (That was his catch phrase).

Anyways I still love him and happy to say that I have met him several times.

    • diva says:

Love him even more for this. When I was younger Stone Cold and The Rock wetter my favorite!

  2. QQ says:

ROTFL LOVE.IT when he said which one of ya’ll Motherfuckers spoke to God about this I hollered so loud

    • Allie says:

      SAME!

    • Hautie says:

As a life long resident of Texas, this actually is not rare. No matter how racist some are here… there are just as many that aren’t.

And I am telling you…. I died laughing too at this statement “which one of y’all M*therf*ckers spoke to God about this…”

Yea, I am going to need to see the face of that M*therf*cker too….

      • Lilo says:

I, personally, don’t believe in God, but I’d like to think that he would go : Whatcha people talkin’ about? Of course that’s okay!” God, in my opinion, is a really cool, laid back guy who rolls his eyes at the way some people interpret religion (goes for all monotheistic religions).

    • The Other Katherine says:

Never cared for ol’ Stone Cold before this, but I’d like to shake the man’s hand now. Right on, brother.

  3. Arock says:

Awww. This warmed my mother f-ing heart. Bless:)

    • kri says:

How awesome! But I have to say this-I have lived in the South over half of my life -New Orleans for 12 yrs and Carolina for 6-and this sentiment Steve expressed is not that rare. There is and always has been a HUGE gay community in New Orleans, and a new generation is rising-sure there are some who are not accepting/hateful, but there are more who feel like Mr. Austin. It’s not about where you live, it’s where your heart dwells.

  4. HappyMom says:

I love him. I have no idea who he is-other than I’ve heard his name. But this is awesome. Some of my teens’ friends are struggling with who they are, and it makes me happy that they can see there are all types of people who actively support gay rights.

  5. HH says:

Man, I used to love me some Monday Night Raw! Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, The Undertaker, Kane…. I grew up with an older brother. Haha! Now? Now EFFING LOVE Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Stone Cold Stunner. Boom!

    • MrsBPitt says:

When my sons were younger, they were Stone Cold nuts!!!!!! I watched RAW with them and loved all those guys, but Stone Cold and The Rock were our favorites!!!

  6. blue marie says:

I like his stance on this and agree with him BUT this dude has been arrested for beating his wife (back in early 2000’s)

  7. MonicaQ says:

BECAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO! GIMMIE A HELL YEAH!

(29 years old, still have faded Stone Cold shirt that is sleeping shirt. Husband makes fun of me, but I don’t care. /glass break)

    • HH says:

      Hahaha! Don’t give it up!

    • I Choose Me says:

Hugs, MonicaQ. I love this comment so much.

When he showed up alongside Hogan recently and that intro music came on I cheered/yelled so loud I got a call from a neighbor asking if everything was okay.

  8. aims says:

    Love it!!!

  9. NorthernGirl_20 says:

I always had a soft spot for him – and now I know why. Awesome 🙂

  10. Froggy says:

My husband was mistaken for him so much in the 90’s that he caused a disturbance at our local mall.
Loved what he had to say. 🙂

  11. Tiffany says:

I have nothing snarky to say on this one. That’s it.

  12. Macey says:

Let me just say.. I LOVE STONECOLD! I mean love him. I used to watch wrestling back when he was on just to see him, cant say I was really into wrestling or anything but he is just entertaining that I was addicted to it for awhile.

that said…this is actually from over a year ago, not sure why its only making the rounds now but go Steve…cos Stone Said So!!!!

    • Aysla says:

Ha, me too! I was in my single-digit years and my brother was a fan of wrestling, so I tuned in when he watched just to see ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. He was always my favorite and while I haven’t thought of him in yeeeaaars, it’s really great to know (especially considering his fan-base) that he’s pro gay marriage and very vocal about it.

  13. zbornak syndrome says:

As an atheist, I don’t think everyone includes religion in marriage. It’s also legal ceremony between a couple (or was to me). I literally tell me husband “I have papers on you”. “You know the ones we had to sign in front of the judge?”

  14. Ag says:

love it. warms my cold, bitchy heart. 🙂

  15. roxy750 says:

Um, it says it in the bible that same sex is a no no Austin. It does–he poses that question in his interview. As far as Stone is he’s cool but the not the smartest guy–just listening to him over the years. Likes to drink and is a bad A$$. Would love to have him on my side is all I’m saying! I think people can do what they want just dont shove it in my face. Everyone should be happy and get along. Peace peace peace

    • Macey says:

not everyone cares what the bible says. Its a book written by man, not god himself and its been rewritten and re-translated so many times that I dont see how anyone can take it seriously. If you were to try and govern everyone’s lives by some of the stuff in the Old Testament and other versions Im sure we’d all be in jail right now. Funny how ppl bring up the bible but only cherry pic the scriptures that suit their agenda.

    • HuhWhat says:

What Steve is saying is that it’s not like God is sitting in some back office in a church and these past and current church leaders are having meetings with him to discuss what is right and what is wrong. It’s not like face-to-face conversations are occurring where these church officials can be like “Well, God just told us last Tuesday that gays are bad!” They are relying on a book, not an actual conversation that THEY had with God, as though he were human and walking on this Earth.

    • Kim1 says:

Really ? Where in the Bible does GOD mention anything related to samesex marriage or homosexuality? What Chapter and Verse?

      • ChristinaDee says:

Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 and particularly nasty. Romans 1:26-32 calls out lesbians specifically.

      • Macey says:

Leviticus also writes its okay to sell your daughters into slavery and many other atrocities.
sorry, but I wouldnt put any stock in any of the Leviticus scriptures.

      • Macey says:

heres another one of Leviticus goodies…

“As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are round about you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their families that are with you, who have been born in your land; and they may be your property. You may bequeath them to your sons after you, to inherit as a Possession for ever.” (Lev. 25:44–46)

thers a bunch more but not sure if I can link

    • NeNe says:

Who cares what the bible says!!! I feel really bad for all you bible pushers!

    • NorthernGirl_20 says:

Seriously?.. where does it say that in the Bible, where?..

Dont’ get me started on that BS..

    • Tessy says:

The bible also has instructions to stone people for lots of sundry things such as kids not listening to their parents, or if a woman isnt a virgin on her wedding night, or even for doing work on the sabbath. I don’t hear anything about followers stoning their kids or their brides these days. And most people are picking up the occasional quart of milk at the grocery store on a Sunday and not throwing rocks at the poor cashiers.

They use the same word when they talk about men lying with men as when they tell you not to eat shellfish. So I ask why isn’t the same weight given to preaching against eating crab and shrimp as there is towards preaching against people who love each other.

    • Aisha says:

By “don’t shove it in my face” you mean what exactly? Do you think gay people are gonna try to get married in your backyard while you’re not looking or something? I hear this phrase a lot and I think maybe what you mean to say is don’t do anything that might give away the fact that you’re gay in public, cos public space is for teh straights.

  16. Zigggy says:

Awesome! He makes such a great point!

  17. bluhare says:

I used to be the First Lady of WrestleTalk, a public access talk show about wrestling. Not because I was a huge wrestling fan, but because I’d go out and find all the latest wrestling news for them to talk about. 🙂 They liked Stone Cold. And so do I.

  18. Ellen says:

I wonder if the wrestling world leads to lots of super-libertarian thinking. Jesse Ventura was elected to the Minnesota governorship back in the 1990s on a similar sort of “People should be allowed to live their lives with no one else interfering” message.

  19. I Choose Me says:

Stone Cold 3:16! I’m a wrestling fan and I love Steve even more now for saying this.

  20. SnarkGirl says:

I want to give that big muscle-y mother fucker a hug! Never been a wrestling fan, but I like this guy. 🙂

  21. Nic says:

<3 Love it! Way to go Steve! 🙂

  22. Emily C. says:

I don’t like wrestling either, and had no opinion on this guy until now. And now, WOW. Someone get him a talk show!

  23. Upshot says:

Love it. Know nothing of the sport or him except his name, until now.
I hope his fans are listening.

  24. John says:

I am officially a Stone Cold fan. Oddly articulate, expletives notwithstanding.

  25. ramona says:

More fellas like him – sports stars with open minds and open hearts – and the world would be a better place. I’m no wrestling fan, and I know nothing of his politics, but on this point in particular, Steve Austin is rad.
