Fashion designer fires PR firm after Ashley Dupre shows up in front row

Professional skanktress Ashley Dupre caused quite the scene when she planted herself front and center at designer Yigal Azrouël’s Fashion Week show last week. The designer was so incensed by Dupre’s presence that he fired his PR firm for letting her in.

As reported Saturday in the Daily News, Ashley Dupre may be a hooker with a heart of gold, but designer Yigal Azrouël didn’t want her at his show. Azrouël was so upset with Eliot Spitzer’s infamous call girl perching in his Fall/Winter 2009 front row seats, that he fired front-of-house PR company People’s Revolution.

A no-nonsense, late night press release announced the news: “Following the showing of his Fall Winter 2009 Collection, Yigal Azrouël has decided to fire front-of-house PR Company, People’s Revolution, for mismanagement.”

“Yes, I was fired by Yigal Azrouël,” People’s Revolution founder Kelly Cutrone told us Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz fashion week kickoff party. “I didn’t invite her, but I wasn’t going to kick her out or turn her away. We know one another, we’re friends.”

“The City” star and Dupre met back in the days when Dupre was still looking for a publicist — she is currently managed by Susan Blond, Inc. — and the two keep in touch. “If Ashley had shown up at Marc Jacobs’ show,” Cutrone continued, “he would have been a hero. It would have been cutting-edge — but Yigal and she weren’t the best fit.”

[From the New York Daily News]

Clearly it wasn’t all bad for Yigal Azrouël – he got some extra free press for Dupre’s presence. In fact if you search for his name on WENN’s photo site, the Dupre’s image comes up as the thumbnail for the whole event.

Dupre is great at rationalizing her past. Eliot Spitzer’s former hooker told Diane Sawyer that “This wasn’t any different than going on a date with someone you barely knew and hooking up with them,” she reasoned. “The only difference is I can pay my rent…” Classy lady. She also claimed to be terrified that people would find out what she did for a living – though she’s clearly done a good job of exploiting it left and right after the fact.

I don’t blame Yigal Azrouël – I wouldn’t want Ashley Dupre at my event either. On the other hand, his PR people sure did their jobs – he’s competing against a ton of other designers for mainstream press coverage, and he got it. I wouldn’t fire them for that.

Here’s Ashley Dupre, Emma Snowdon-Jones, Lorenzo Martone, Andre Leon Talley, Katie Lee Joel, Fabiola Beracasa and Genevieve Jones, and Yigal Azrouel at his Fashion Week show on Friday. Images thanks to WENN.

  1. she's bad news. says:

she’s gotta stink on her that doesn’t wash off.

no wonder this designer doesn’t want her face near his collection.

  2. Codzilla says:

    Ashley’s kind of horse-faced, isn’t she?

  3. Annie says:

    Dear Dupre:

Please crawl back into the whoring hole you came from. Thank you.

    -Annie

  4. Ashley says:

    NO WHORES ALLOWED!!

  5. lisa says:

Why not ask her to leave? I don’t see why she should have been let in if he did not want her there, that is what the PR firm was hired to do.

Katie Lee Joel is pretty darned cute!

  6. cara says:

You ladies are way too catty. Does this mean that if you are all in a bar or the gym, wherever and a guy who is truly the sweetest, kindest, always would be a gentleman, asked you out…with the catch being,he lived in his mom’s basement..you’d give it a shot, regardless of his financial situation? If you said no way…then what makes you any different from Dupree? She’s a least upfront and honest about it.

    Cut the B*tch some slack.

  7. boomchakaboom says:

Well, god. Who WOULDN’T want an expensive former hooker to be front and center at their fashion show? Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are always there, so I can understand Ms. Dupre’s assumption that she could go and at least be as welcom as the likes of those two bimbos. Just you wait, Ashley will land herself a fat cat sugar daddy to buy her all those expensive goodies, and THEN we’ll see who objects to her presence at their little fashion show. Harumph.

  8. Ned says:

Who wants a prostitude at his front row?

You do not want to be associated with someone so cheap and disgusting.

The designer was absolutely right to fire his PR firm.

  9. Ned says:

I didn’t invite her, but I wasn’t going to kick her out or turn her away. We know one another, we’re friends.

Kelly Cutrone is an idiot. There is a differece between letting a prostitute sit at the front row, and kicking her out.

IF you do something unprofessional that is damaging to the reputation of your client, just because you are friends with a prostitute- well you just chose that friendship over your job and acting professionally.

  10. geronimo says:

@boomchakka – exactly. When will they start ejecting Hilton from the front row? No hooker could possibly compete with Paris when it come to tone-lowering. Designers are so up themselves.

  11. Ugh says:

Uh yeah Paris might be a parasite but she still has a one up on Dupre: no matter how whorish, borish, or altogether dislikeable she really is…she’s always had a great sense of style and wears the best clothes, and has the level of exposure that designers want. And she may be a skank but hey, at least we don’t know for a fact that she was peddling her wares in direct exchange for cash. Ashley has even less shame than Paris!

  12. geronimo says:

Well yeah, I know why the designers like her, I was being slightly faecetious there! They like her for her money mainly. Don’t agree on her having style tho’ – that comes from within. And Paris’ ‘within’ is about as empty and barren as Dupre’s current bank account.

  13. Codzilla says:

geronimo: Lol! Agreed. Paris is as devoid of style as they come.

  14. quid_iuris says:

Ripping on a woman for trying to pay her rent is not going to be my style, ever. That was her own body, after all. Although riding the coattails of what happened with Spitzer for free publicity – like we needed yet another useless celebutard – is not very classy, agreed.

  15. becca says:

Most of the reason why I can’t stand this whore of a whore (she doesn’t deserve to be called a woman) is BECAUSE she rode on the tails of the Spitzer scandal for fame. She’s an aspiring popstar, didn’t you know that?

If she fought to stay away from the cameras waaaay back in March when the scandal hit I’d be going, “Oh, you poor thing.” Really, I would. Because I wouldn’t know much about her, I’d be under the impression that she felt cornered with all other options and felt that she had no choice but to go into the world’s oldest profession.

But she didn’t hide from the cameras. She made a very devastating situation much, much worse.

  16. KLaw says:

Paris was born with money, that’s why she isn’t a prostitute. If the roles were reversed, and Dupri was born with money and Paris wasn’t, you can sure bet Paris would be a whore and Dupri would be a rich “socialite” like Paris.

  17. MC says:

the thumbnail pic made me think she was octomom!

  18. Ana says:

Cara: I don’t think they are being too catty.
When my husband and I first met he was living with his mom, in debt from his divorce. Now we’re married and making monthly payments on his debt. When there’s a spark nothing matters.
That being said, I don’t know who she is, but what is she doing with Paris Hilton’s nose?
Plenty of other people are able to pay their rent without sleeping with anyone…

  19. Persistent Cat says:

Cara, the difference is I don’t have sex in return for money. I don’t have sex with a married man so he can pay my rent.

And if the guy was sweet and nice and kind, maybe he’d get a chance, you didn’t say if he was cute and funny. Women kind of like that.

    Very very poor analogy.

As for Paris and to a lesser extent Kim, they come from money and semi-famous families. The hooker is a Jersey hooker.

  20. Ugh says:

“Ripping on a woman for trying to pay her rent is not going to be my style, ever.”

There’s a big diff between paying your rent, and paying your rent while wearing a pair of Manolos. Its not like she was giving blow jobs to get off the street.

  21. Alecto says:

Uhhh…I know many people won’t agree with this but actually I don’t see why prostitution is illegal. Consenting adults using their own bodies…what’s the big deal. I mean who hasn’t hooked up with somebody after the first date and had a one night stand or even worse got too drunk at the bar and brought home a skeezer. At least she can pay her bills. And 25hundred ain’t too cheap either. It’s not much worse than being a stripper.

  22. Persistent Cat says:

There’s a difference between a one night stand and banging a guy for rent money.

And I’ve never been unable to pay a bar bill so I had to fuck a guy to pay it for me.

  23. Diva says:

@ Ugh… so, she’d be more commendable if she was blowing drunks in an alley to pay her rent on a dingy apartment?

    Please.

It’s ironic to me that women can march and chant for the right to their bodies when it comes to abortion, but then do a 180 about their right to do what they choose with their bodies when it comes to prostitution. It’s a mystery to me.

I hope Azrouel slipped that PR firm a bonus under the table while maintaining his public indignance. No one cared about this guy before, now suddenly everyone knows who he is. THAT is PR.

  24. Christina says:

burn her at the stake! harlot!!!! *rolls eyes*

  25. Don'tStopBecause says:

    @ Diva – excellently put!

  26. ChristinaX says:

I don’t have much to say for the issue at hand.

All I know, is that I don’t sympathize for Ashlee Dupree and it doesn’t have anything to do with her being a prostitute. What I have a problem with this woman is that she’s achieved fame for sleeping with some man who cheated on his wife and she shows no remorse for nobody but herself, and to make it worse, she’s a backpeddler.

It seems like she changes the story often. Was she really “forced” into prostitution or did she do it because she actually wanted to be a prostitute?

Hasn’t she had a history with Girls Gone Wild or Joe Francis? I think that’d actually say a lot.

No, I don’t feel bad for her.

I think she should’ve been allowed to attend the show, but I don’t sympathize for the flack she has received for her image.

  27. meme says:

It’s not like she fucking murdered someone. She just gave a blow job for money. She is not a horrible human being. What about people who lie cheat and steal?? Lots of people do that. Are those not worse than two consenting adults engaging in a sexual act in a way they deem fit?

  28. meme says:

Persistent Cat: That is so fucking classist to suggest that Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are better than Ashley Dupre because they COME FROM MONEY AND FAMOUS FAMILIES. You are really screwed up if that is how you place value on people.

  29. photo jojo says:

I love this story. It warms my blackened little heart. 🙂

  30. Persistent Cat says:

I’m just saying those girls are tolerated because they don’t have sex for money, they come from money and have famous families. It’s how that industry works, the women in the front row that you don’t recognize are socialites.

I’m not saying that’s how I value people. Relax for a second.

I see a difference between my right to an abortion and me not having the right to sell my body for sex. There are more layers than just a simple “I can do whatever I want with my body.”

  31. It’s definitely important to hire a public relations firm that is on the same page as your organization. Obviously this was not the case between Yigal and the firm he hired. There needs to be open communication and constant contact between the two, so situations like these don’t happen.

I feel like it’s time to do some damage control.

    -Timothy

  32. billw says:

A Slut in the front row? Let she who is without sin cast the first tube of KY jelly.

  33. ChristinaX says:

Meme, I’m just going to outright f*cking say it, but I’ve had it with people praising her because she’s a whore.

She’s an exhibitionist (Girls Gone Wild), which tells me that it’s more than likely that she wasn’t doing it because she had to, but because SHE LIKES SEX.

As someone else pointed out, she rode the coattails of a scandal, one that left someone’s wife and children feeling betrayed and humiliated, and instead of dodging the media, she’s whoring as much as she can get away with now.

She’s an unapologetic, selfish bitch who’d take advantage of anything or anyone if it meant receiving attention, whether that little bit of validation came from an affair with a married man or drunkenly stripping nude in front of a camera. I’m sure she was “forced” into doing THAT as well.

What gets me about this skank is how sorry she felt for herself when the affair surfaced to the public with Dateline sobfest publicity tour ’08, and the fact that she’s attending all of these social events in hopes that people will recognize her greasy, self-righteous ass.

And I know it’s some sort of new aged pseudo feminist philosophy not to blame women for participating in extramarital affairs with married men and that the virtues of prostitution is that she’s free to do whatever she wants with her body, but it takes two to cheat…and as a strong supporter of feminism, I think it undermines the intelligence and strength of character of a woman to assume that she cannot make her own judgements of right and wrong.

I think it’s a little bit contradictory to feminism to praise the values of being a whore and a social climbing bitch because she “didn’t know better”.

Ashlee Dupree isn’t stupid. She’s a manipulative, opportunistic little brat. She knows what she’s doing, and forgive me for having a hard time believing that she needed to become a prostitute for any other purpose that she wanted to and forgive me for believing that she loves every last bit of attention she received from the scandal.

    Boohoo.
