Jamie Dornan shows off his ‘Golden Torso’ for Interview Mag: would you hit it?

JD1

For a man who proclaims to be “haunted” by his modeling moniker, “The Golden Torso,” Jamie Dornan still dropped trou in a hot minute for Interview Mag, right? Just as well – I have to admit, I’m enjoying this Interview Magazine editorial a lot. He looks really sexy. I also have to admit that I spent the better part of my weekend absorbed in Season 1 of The Fall. I now think Jamie is a pretty good actor too – he’s SO CREEPY as a serial killer in Belfast. I would highly recommend The Fall to anyone who enjoys serial killer/police procedural types of shows. Like, if you love Hannibal or Silence of the Lambs, you’ll love The Fall. Anyway, you can read Jamie’s interview here (I skimmed it, it’s okay – he talks a lot about The Fall). Some highlights:

His acting method: “I don’t want to be showy. I’m not interested in seeing that, and I don’t want to do it. I’ve played a lot of broken people. Maybe the silences are about the different kinds of vulnerability in all of them.”

He doesn’t like his body: “I don’t like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid.”

Why he took the part in Fifty Shades of Grey: “I’m still auditioning. I don’t really have choices in the material I get. So I have to make the choices in the way I play the characters. And I’m happy to get a chance to play Christian.”

Becoming a father: “I don’t understand people complaining about babies. Sure, I miss a bit of sleep, but look at the rewards—better than not being able to sleep because of a hangover.”

[From Interview]

I have to say, in Season 1 of The Fall, he does look really skinny. I mean, you can tell he’s very strong and muscular (he takes off his shirt often enough in the show), but he’s more wiry than traditionally “built” for a leading man. He also doesn’t come on the screen with a lot of bravado – he’s one of those actors who moves like a cat. Or in The Fall, like a panther about to attack. I’m not sure if I’m going to be into him at all as Christian Grey after The Fall. But it depends… maybe he’ll end up nailing the Grey role too.

    Nope. Still not feeling anything.

    • Hiddles forever says:

Same here. He is pretty but…. Not feeling anything either.

      • Rhea says:

Yes. Looking him is like looking at Ashton Kutcher for me. Especially pic number 2 from the top.

    • Size Does Matter says:

      Maybe without the dealbreaker neckbeard?

    • QQ says:

Neither as well and Im Trashy and shallow when it comes to my Man ogling and Objectification …i think is the fifty shades AND that he looks Mangy here AND that he looks gerbilly in the same way Ryan Reynolds gives Gerbil without the neckbeard

    • Isadora says:

Same here… Although I think he handled the Fify Shades question quite good in this – it’s an honest answer without trashing the movie.

    • FLORC says:

He looks like my neighbor. Cute and pretty, but not doesn’t do it for me. Fun for my friends though.
The hell I will give him if this movie becomes a thing!

  2. Maria says:

I just watched The Fall and loved it.

    He does creepy well.

He’s an attractive man, loved him on OUAT.

    • boredsuburbanhousewife says:

+1. I binge watched The Fall and I was surprised by how well he did creepy. Loved him on OUAT as Sheriff Skinnyjeans. I generally admire the way the OUAT show runners have picked relatively unknown but hot young actors (esp Irish ones) and given them a great vehicle.

    • Mixtape says:

Also binge watched The Fall a few months back and thought he was fabulous. He’s so creepy and in some scenes downright horrible and yet you somewhat sympathize with him even though you’re not meant to–very well done.

      • AC says:

        Mixtape,
        THIS!!!!
I’m not going to watch him in 50 shades because I don’t want to wreck my adoration for him. Waiting for Fall Season 2!
        PS, I heart the beard.

    • Isadora says:

I don’t know The Fall, but if he does creepy well then he’s perfect for the role of Christian Grey. The guy IS creepy.

  3. Dani2 says:

I love him with his beard so yes I definitely would 😉 I’m still not looking forward to seeing him as Christian Grey though, I really don’t know how they can redeem that POS story.

  4. PunkyMomma says:

Nope. Don’t feel any tingles at all.

  5. Abbott says:

I would do things to him that would get us burned at the stake if we lived in a puritan village.

    • Allie says:

      Haha love. And agreed.

Although that picture of him in the jersey and short shorts is odd. It’s like the outfit they would put on a woman.

      • Abbott says:

Totally agree. Don’t get the short shorts. All he needs is a crop top to finish it out.

      • Sighs says:

It’s a horrible 70’s throwback. Those socks are dreadful.

      • kri says:

I am freaked by the white shorts/football jersey. Ummm. He looks like he should work at a Hooter’s knock-off joint in that outfit. Or he stole it out of a Broncos cheerleader’s locker. Bitch wants her practice outfit back, Jamie!

      • MollyB says:

I kind of like that. They’re finally treating a guy like a piece of meat instead of just the female celebs.

      • ella says:

+1. Very bad angle, to boot.

  6. Paty Kerry says:

He is unbelievably good and creepy in The Fall. Definitely looks more built in these pictures though. I’d hit it – but check his bag for nail polish first 🙂

  7. eliza says:

I like him as a pretty convincing actor but do not find him sexy at all. Not my type.

  8. Tig says:

He is so good in The Fall. And if he brings 1/2 that intensity to FSOG, it will be interesting to say the least. Re this photoshoot- it’s OK, but the one with the dirty(?) bath water- Ick!

  9. iskra says:

    Yessss….physically, he is my type.

And I love men with some chest hair.

    • Cate says:

ITA! Chest hair yum! Shave the beard though… He was great in The Fall and he was pretty yummy in OUAT for the brief time he was there. FSOG is going to be such a crapfest because of the source material but I’d be a liar if I wasn’t looking forward to seeing Dornan in all his naked (PG-13?) glory… sigh

    • Catk says:

Agree, so sick of all the manscaping and waxing that all the actors do. Gross. Especially when they have thse creepy over-waxed eyebrows.

  10. Sixer says:

He was great in The Fall but he was awful in New Worlds recently (follow up to The Devil’s Whore, which was one of my fave TV series of all time), so I’m still on the fence regarding his ability.

He is exceedingly decorative but he doesn’t light my fire in the least. Not sure why.

    • LadySlippers says:

      •Sixer•

Who was he in The Devil’s Whore? Now I’m genuinely curious.

(I must confess that I enjoyed that series but feel a ton of guilt as I had studiously avoided learning *anything* about that particular time period EVER. Which shames me immensely as I am an American.)

    • Maria says:

Sixer, is The Devil’s Whore that show with Fassy and Dominic West?

      • Vesta says:

I believe that’s the one in question. The character of Edward Sexby still hounds me…

    • Sixer says:

In New Worlds, you mean? He was Abe, an English revolutionary. He had a great part but didn’t bring much to it for me. Joe Dempsie (Gendry in GoT) was pretty good as the colonial revolutionary. But even more upsetting was the way they wasted Jeremy Northam as Charles II. Even so, I love the way both series got to grips with the complexities of the politics of the times and the variety of revolutionary thought that existed (more so Devil’s Whore than New Worlds, though).

    • LadySlippers says:

      •Sixer•

When I had Netflix The Devil’s Whore was a show there… Not sure about New Worlds as unfortunately I no longer have the service….

    • Sixer says:

Despite my moaning, I’d say watch New Worlds if it ever comes to a service near you. It does nail the political environment. And it comes to your shores and looks at the foundation of America with as unsympathetic an eye for most of the motivations as it had for Charles I, Cromwell et al in the first go around!

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Sixer•

It probably wouldn’t offend my Royalist sympathies then. 😉

      • Sixer says:

Well. You won’t be taken with Charles II. But you won’t be taken with the proto-corporatist colonists, either! You can enjoy the revolutionary ones with me.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Sixer•

In general, I’m not terribly fond of the Stuarts as a whole. After the Tudors…it’s rather difficult to muster any excitement for them. Except for Henry Frederick, he had potential. The rest. Meh.

      • Sixer says:

Personality-wise, I’m not that interested in the Stuarts either. But I am interested in the Civil War – both for the huge variety in political thought, the military tactics (New Model Army and all that) and the Rump Parliament, which went a long way to giving us the constitutional monarchy we have today. That civil war was BLOODY. 5% of the mainland population died as a result of it, and Cromwell utterly devastated Ireland. In terms of proportion of population, probably 3x as many Irish died as died in the Potato Famine. It really is quite staggering.

PS: Many Irish people (and some from the mainland too) were sold into indenture in New England as a result of the Civil War, which is a main thread in the New Worlds narrative.

    • Sixer says:

@Maria – sorry, I missed your comment. Yes. Dominic West is Oliver Cromwell. Fassy is Rainsborough, the Leveller.

  11. LadySlippers says:

Maybe… He’s cute but can he also hold a decent conversation? I like my boys to be a tad more than just eye candy.

    • Dani2 says:

He’s very witty/charming, not super smart by any means but definitely more than just a pretty face, in his interviews, he comes across as someone that’d be cool to just hang out with 🙂

    • Abbott says:

I saw his Graham Norton interview online and he was pretty funny and charming. Maybe even a bit nervous, but he seemed to understand the absurdity of the situation he’s in. And he was pretty starstruck with Aaron Paul sitting next to him.

    • Sarah says:

I like Jamie. Based on what I have seen he seems modest, self deprecating and a bit shy. He is not a big personality and he doesn’t have the built in confidence of the posh Brits that are adored on this site. He is likeable and seems like he is a decent guy. And his accent is lovely.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Sarah•

        All bonuses in my book.

(I need my boys a bit smart but posh isn’t a requirement! 😊)

      • Vesta says:

Sarah, I think that’s a good description of him you made. He seems very down to earth, and I too like that.

      • Steph says:

He’s not a brit: he’s irish, isn’t he? Don’t EVER call them brits. EVER.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Dahling…is that a sly reference to that hunky English master at our boarding school? You didn’t! Come over for a drinkie and tell me allll about it!

  12. Yelp says:

    Watched The Fall…
    omg

  13. AmyLynne says:

I’d hit it again and again. Grab a glass of water. Then hit it again. He just does it for me.

  14. Kiddo says:

I can see how he could be sexy, but I can’t stand the clothes (too tight jacket, tiny twee tee and a lady’s sweater), styling and most of the poses in the pictorial. I haven’t seen in him in anything, so I don’t know if that would make a difference.

  15. Chilicat says:

I love him. He is beautiful. but I would say his acting is a bit hit and miss. He’s great in the fall, and he was good in new worlds, but not so good in other things I’ve seen him in. The foreign film he did that I saw some of is a bit cringey. Fifty shades will be interesting.

    • holly says:

He definitely has a limited range. He does the creepy killer and the smoldering eyes very well but anything else is almost laughable. As far as FSOG goes, I think they’re both totally wrong – he’s too short and she’s too big overall. I don’t mean she’s overweight but in the books he’s tall and toned and she’s this tiny waif who continually crawls into his lap. I’m sorry but I just picture JD collapsing the first time Dakota tries to crawl in his lap!

      • Chilicat says:

Haha, she is not exactly petite as ana is supposed to be. I think clean shaven he is closer to looking like Christian grey than Charlie hunman was. I’m apprehensive about fifty shades, I want him to be good but I’m slightly dreading it as well. But he is pretty….

  16. Deb says:

Jamie was outstanding in The Fall & I look forward to season 2, but anything associated with 50 shades of crap makes me puke. I thank the heaves my darling Charlie bailed on that mess.

  17. L.E. says:

WTF is going on in the last picture?

    • Ange says:

No word of a lie we just had a sports tournament for LGBTQI people here in my town and that last photo is a carbon copy of the pic they used to promote the softball tournament. All the dude needs is a bat, helmet and a coy mitt covering his junk.

  18. Ellen says:

I don’t like his full beard. It makes his face look small

  19. Andrea says:

YUM. If no one will hit that…I would. Like a screen door during a hurricane.
