Costume Institute Gala: Best Dressed

Stars were out in force for last night’s annual Costume Institute Ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While most everyone looked lovely in their designer gowns, some took too many fashion risks while others struck just the right balance of daring trends and simple lines.

Mischa Barton cleaned up nicely in a full length Gimbattista Valli strapless ivory-colored dress with large beads on the bodice. The simple cut suited her well.

Jennifer Garner’s Valentino Couture dress was a bit too orange for my taste, but it showed off her svelte figure and was cut well with a flowing train.

Jennifer Lopez
took a chance in a silver metallic Marchesa dress with a jeweled belt and cap sleeves. She looked gorgeous with soft curls and just the right mix of accessories.

Petra Nemcova was lovely in an gauzy dress accented by jewels.

Christina Ricci worked it in a white Calvin Klein strapless dress with simple lines.

Kate Bosworth was particularly stunning in a silk Prada dress with a puffed skirt.
