Tom Hiddleston takes the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS, doesn’t take off his shirt

wenn20817896

By now, I’m sure all of the Dragonflies have seen this and already collapsed into a damp dragonfly pile. But for the rest of you, Tom Hiddleston accepted Nathan Fillion’s “nomination” to do the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money and awareness for ALS (although Tommy is a little dyslexic so he hashtagged #ASL – American Sign Language, huzzah!). Yesterday, Tommy joined Chris Pratt, Robert Downey Jr. and others by taping his Ice Bucket Challenge and posting it to his WhoSay page and Twitter. Here’s the YouTube video (you can see the original WhoSay video here).

I’m mad that he didn’t take off his t-shirt. What the hell? Almost all of the other guys took off their shirts!! But it’s nice that we can at least see his dragonfly nipples and his muscles underneath the wet t-shirt. And yes, at the end, he nominates his BFF Luke Evans and his big brother Benedict Cumberbatch. He also tweeted this:

Yes, we get it. I kind of hope Benedict does NOT do it. I hope Benedict instead takes part in my new Dongs of Hope Challenge, where we get celebrity men to drop trou for… something. To be determined. No, let’s say Feeding America. What say you, Benedict? Will you take it all off for Dongs of Hope? #DongsofHopeChallenge

    #DongsofHopeChallenge

We already have a theme song in the form of Anna Kendrick’s SNL skit: Dongs All Over the World.

  2. Abbott says:

This Ice Bucket Challenge is getting seriously out of contr— slo-mo Hiddle Nips?

    *throws wallet at ALS*

  3. Kali says:

Dongs of Hope for Feeding America?

    So. Many. Jokes.
    So. Little. Time.

I’m glad Hiddleston left the shirt on. More mystery that way ;P

    • Lilacflowers says:

And we get to see it all clingy and we get to see him lift it up.

    • icerose says:

actually most people have left there shirt on.Facebook is over run with ice bucket challengers.
      I am getting bucketed out.

  4. Leaflet says:

Taking off his shirt would have been excessive, therefore, not needed for the video. I liked RDJ’s better. RDJ challenged Chris Hemsworth to do it. Tom challenged the “Batch” and Helena Bonham Carter. I hope Helena does it. I know it would be interesting just to see her mega hair and weird clothes get wet. In my dreams, she would do it on an such an eccentric way, that I would have to watch it excessively. I want to see Mcavoy do it as well.

  5. Catherine says:

Kaiser – I could really get behind this Dongs of Hope Challenge, we just need to find a worthy cause.

  6. allons-y alonso says:

    white t-shirt. Damn!

  7. Lilacflowers says:

Nominee for the Oscar for best short subject documentary. He nominated Helena Bonham Carter too.

  8. Shelby says:

I would love to see Benedict Cumberbatch take part on both ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and the Dongs of Hope Challenge for people who are deprived of dongs and Cumby!!!

    • icerose says:

Benny has sent a message saying he will do it when he has a break in filming

    • Green Eyes says:

Cumby can save time by combining these two worthwhile causes: having a bucket of iced water thrown over him whilst he is completely nude. I think I would donate at least $1,000 for that….

  9. Lizzie says:

I think I liked it better with the shirt actually.
Dude knew exactly what he was doing with a white wet tshirt! I’m onto your game Hiddles!

    • 'P'enny says:

      totally agree

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Yeh, me too, if Benny also did it with a white t-shirt, we could start a wet t-shirt contest worldwide..

      • Lilacflowers says:

Nighty, Ben Affleck pointed out that only people who look good in wet t-shirts should be challenged. He challenged Kimmel, Matt Damon, and Jennifer Garner.

      • Belle says:

Ben didn’t say only people who look good in a wet t-shirt should be challenged. He was referring to the people he was nominating, saying he knew from first hand experience they look good in a wet t-shirt.

Just want to correct that before people start griping about Ben. His video is really cute, and he did say he was donating as well. 😉

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Belle, not throwing shade at Ben. Both he and Tom are among the few who got the full explanation in there and talked about donations AND, yes, his video was adorable and it seemed like the whole family was participating and having fun.

      • Belle says:

@Lilacflowers, I didn’t think you were throwing shade at all (sorry if my post read that way!). Ben doesn’t have a lot of fans on this site, and I was guessing that some who hadn’t seen his video would latch on to the ‘Ben pointed out that only people who look good in a wet t-shirt should be challenged’, and be outraged. I was just clarifying his comment. 😉

    • M.A.F. says:

He certainly knows his audience. White, tight t-shirt then the slow motion. Straight out of a 1970s porno that was.

Yesterday was a very good Monday.

    • Secret Squirrel says:

Yup! The boy be fine in his white shirt of horniness… I mean loveliness…

And I hate celebs whoring for charity, but this I totally had to stop and watch…

Come on Cumby!! Your denim shirt is crying out for a brisk dip!!

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Secret, I missed you girl, haven’t seen you in a while.. kisses…

I’m waiting for Benny’s, he has to do it… 🙂
Wet denim with white t-shirt underneath?

      • Leaflet says:

        @ Secret Squirrel,
Haha: “Yup! The boy be fine in his white shirt of hormones…”

Shall we wager an increase of leaves and acorns to the ALS foundation if we get to see Tim Burton dunk a big bucket of ice water over Helena Bonham Carter’s head while she struggles to hold on to a big branch of our tree all twilst Hiddley hangs on to the end of Helena’s boot in his whit, wet t-shirt and Cumby looks desperately the ground below him as he dangles on the ends of Tommy’s black shorts as they struggle to cleave on Hiddles round bottom? Ooh, they may all fall down.

      • icerose says:

@Leaflet and below is a mass of fan girls screaming more water Tim.

      • Leaflet says:

        @icerose,
Yes, the fan girls yell: “More water Tim,” you and I can stand near them with our huge Shamwow blanket of love with hearts printed on them. Oh, the fun times.

  10. Wallamalooo says:

Easy Kaiser, take deep breaths haha 😀

  11. Ag says:

I hope that all these people I’ve seen on my FB feed doing this actually are donating to the charity. The entire thing seems weird to me. I mean, just cut a check. But I guess that’s not as attention-producing as people dumping water on themselves. Either way, good for ALS research.

The Dongs could try and cure TBA (To Be Announced).

    • Kali says:

The version that went around in N.Z was for The Cancer Society. The way it seemed to work is if you did the challenge in the time frame, you only had to donate $10 but if you didn’t do it, you had to donate $100.

      • Algernon says:

The version here is the same. $100 if you don’t do it, $10 if you do, but given how much they’ve raised, it’s obvious people are donating. Are some folks skipping that part but doing the bucket thing? Probably. But clearly a lot of people *are* donating, and that’s the important part. The bucket thing is doing its part to raise awareness, and money ***is*** following.

    • t.fanty says:

But that’s the problem with the IBC. The water dumping is supposed to be an alternative to writing a check. So, in essence, everyone is doing it so as not to pay money, according to the aims of the “game.”

While I am SO VERY VERY VERY appreciative of Hiddles and his White T-shirt of Glory, this has become a vanity project. Tommyanne gets credit for being on of the few people to remember to ask those watching to donate. He basically whored himself for charity. And God bless him for it. I presume what when Cumby does it, he will be wearing three sweaters, a scarf, the ugly fisherman’s hat, and rain boots. The water won’t get through all of the layers to touch his delicate flesh.

      • M.A.F. says:

Why are people assuming the celebrities aren’t donating? They all could have. And by all accounts this challenge has raised more money, some where around $10 million.

      • Ag says:

        lol

and “vanity project” is a very apt description.

      • Hello Kitty says:

I wish the celebrities doing the IBC would also contribute like Swifty and Jamie King did in their challenge so it’s not just hashtag activism.
I thought Vice had a good article on the recent hashtag activism. http://goo.gl/h1bSlQ

      • Lilacflowers says:

The water dumping is supposed to make a difference in the size of the check. If the water dumpers are supposed to write a check for $25. $100 if you don’t douse yourself in icy water.

      • Innie Outie says:

I agree about the vanity factor and the whoring part 😀 However, I think the very participation of celebs has dramatically increased the awareness about this disease and therefore the fundraising. I was very happy that Hiddles didn’t forget to encourage people to donate. I also think that the original rules – douse OR donate – probably changed since the beginning of the challenge, and I am quite sure many celebs both doused and donated.

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

The water dousing (very, very cold) gives you a feeling of numbness in your limbs, if you don’t feel you can’t move…

      • ds says:

@Hello Kitty; thanks for the link; good article. This just shows how internet has been completely missused

      • Ag says:

@Hello Kitty – thanks, interesting article.

reminded me of something else that i recently saw – women taking pics of themselves w/o makeup, which is somehow supposed to raise money for some vague charity (none of the ones i saw actually described what the cause was, or how makeup-less pics related to it.) WTH?

      • fairyvexed says:

The ALS society has raised something like five times what they did last year during the same time period, so that works for me.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I know I’m going to sound like a crotchety old hippie but the amount of water being wasted in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge could probably save the state of Cali from draught.

No but seriously, I think it’s great that everyone’s donating but I wish we could all just cut a check without wasting a valuable resource like water.

      • joe spider says:

Actually I was pleased that Tom pointed quite clearly the reason for what he was doing, which is the whole point of doing it. Just doing it doesn’t help the charity.

      • icerose says:

@Joe Sider I saw a whole film cast doing it in unison challenging other film casts and the ALS bit got completely lost on the process.

      • Miss M says:

Sorry, But I disagree with you Fanty. Would we (regular people not involved in research) talk about ALS if celebrities didn’t get involved? I don’t think so.
I am glad he did it to raise awareness and I do think he wrote his check, which I appreciate eh didn’t disclaim.

    • icerose says:

Sorry cannot resist this “The Dongs could try and cure testical cancer” with a fixed penalty for no shows. Slaps her hand now to get it over with

  12. 'P'enny says:

“new Dongs of Hope Challenge, where we get celebrity men to drop trou for… something.”
The levels this website drops too! ‘shocked’

Make them wear white underwear and splash them with warm water, we don’t want ‘it’ to get cold.

taps keyboard…. waiting Benedict’s and Luke’s attempt. [tick – tock.]
oh disappointed in Chris Hemsworth’s – Hiddles out ripped him – 8 pack on the go yummy

    • Lady Macbeth says:

Well Hemsworth managed well IMO… Hiddles was shaking from the cold. Bill Gates’ one was a bit pitiful lol

      • 'P'enny says:

Hemsworth was ok, but he is in LA/Malibu or some kind of hot state in America, poor hiddles is in London and the weather has dropped dismly here of late :-p

      • Lilacflowers says:

Hiddles was also standing in the rain so he was going to get soaked, no matter what.

      • Lady Macbeth says:

Well where I live is about 7 hrs north of London and believe me its not that cold yet, even if its raining lol

Sorry but the Hemboy managed better. Goodness gracious, I guess Hiddles is entitled… To feel cold? Lol not everybody can be like The Rock 😀

      • Innie Outie says:

@Lady Macbeth, looks like Tommy is generally prone to cold, perhaps due to his thinness. Remember his pics from CP set? I am like that myself, I tolerate heat quite well, but I am ALWAYS cold in winter, even though where I live, winters are pretty mild. I even have to put on fingerless gloves when I work on my PC. At home, mind you 😀

      • fairyvexed says:

Dammit, that’s kind of adorable. Poor thing didn’t have a towel?

      • Lady Macbeth says:

        @InnieOutie

I don’t think he feels cold because he is thin. I guess it is just… Chance, coincidence? Usually it has nothing to do with physical shape or nationality (I always get that because being born in Southern Europe people think I feel cold for that reason… My mum doesn’t at all though!). My husband is as thin as Tom and he always feels hot, even with -10, go figure! I am like you, gloves whilst working on my computer in winter lol

      • icerose says:

@Lady Macbeth I live two hours north of London and their has been a cold wind blowing for the last two days and evenings have been chilly. I have been wearing a jacket out.
But as someone who swam for at lest 15vmins in the sea near Edinburgh in November I can say as far as cold water challenges go it is pretty feeble.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I think both Sons of Odin acquitted themselves well. Different people have different tolerances to hot and cold water. And where the cold water strikes the body can also have an impact on how the person reacts.

  13. sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Chris Pratt’s was funny, Charlie Sheen’s was different and the Penguins were hilarious… 🙂

    • Lady Macbeth says:

For once, Charlie Sheen’s was spot on… Maybe that happened in his 5 daily seconds of sobriety.

I didn’t get why The Rock’s was that short though…

RDJ’s was funny….. And I hope Ruffalo does one too. And Mark Strong, but nobody nominated him! 🙁

      • Lilacflowers says:

        Perhaps BC will nominate him?

      • Ellen says:

        Benny should nominate Fassy

      • Lady Macbeth says:

        @Lilacflowers

Ooohhh he could.. Pls dear Cumby, nominate Mark Strong!

      • icerose says:

talking of nomination have you seen Nathans tweet
        From a Nathan follower
        “Why did you nominate @twhiddleston
        From @Nathan
” I did that for the ladies.Your welcome””

I love that he uses ladies not fans. I am now a signed up Natham Fillion lady.

    • Innie Outie says:

I think Pratt’s is my fav ATM, not that I have seen too many, but he and his wife (and her friend) really did it justice 😀

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Pratt’s looked like a commercial to vodka.. they should pay him by donating also,… 😉

      • Innie Outie says:

But damn, he drank it all in basically one go and it’s no mean feat 😀 I probably could down the small bottle, but the bigger one? With a couple of long breaks, and after that I’d have to be carried away!

  14. Isa says:

I saw a meme on my Facebook that said, so let me get this straight. You waste clean water to avoid donating to charity?

Yea, I think it’s stupid. I also don’t think half of the people that are doing this on my FB know what ALS is.

    • Lilacflowers says:

You’re still supposed to donate. It’s just a bigger donation if you don’t throw the water on yourself.

    • Macey says:

I think its stupid too and I can tell you most that are coming thru my FB feed do not even mention ALS. I assumed this was another fad like the Planking pics and those other viral challenges. I was seeing so many of the IBC videos I had to look up what is what about. Most of the celebs that are doing don’t even bother mentioning the cause, they just call someone out to keep it going, had I not googled it, I would not have even known it was for charity.
I’ll give them props for that but I really dont see this as anything more than to give ppl another reason to post vids of themselves to get the “likes” and keep it going.

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Well, it may be stupid (you’re entitled to your opinion), but the association has already received more than 15 millions in this couple of weeks… Which is definitely a good thing..

      • Peaches says:

We are in the middle of a drought for crying out loud! This is wasteful! Farmers are losing their crops bc of lack of water and people wanna be wasting water like this? And yes, I agree, celebrities may be donating but the average citizen is probably not. There must be another way to garner this much attention for a very worthy cause, but not by wasting water like this. We are under extreme drought in California and it’s costing the state millions and farmers just as much. This is wasteful beyond belief.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

        It’s One. Bucket. Of. Water.

Leading to about 2K + for the charity.

Go ahead, you tell Tom he has had his bucket of water and can’t have a shower.

      • jammypants says:

You do realize not all celebs live in California right? How could they be wasting water if they live in areas where water isn’t scarce? So does the world have to be obligated to the state of California on how they use their own water?

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Cycle of water: falls onto the floor, evaporates, forms clouds, rains, falls onto the floor….
Waste of clean, pure water is: POLLUTION OF RIVERS by people, sewerage systems, pesticides used in crops, animal farms, plastics, etc, etc, etc….

I think you get my point..

NOTE: Oh, I live in a town where there are always droughts every single year in the summer…

      • Lady Macbeth says:

        @Peaches

Half of Europe is under water, lots of floods everywhere. So anyone who threw a bucket of water on themselves and they were in a garden.. Well it is just like rain, right? Tom gets a pass, period! 😉

      • icerose says:

@Miss Jupitero love it. I can see the internet headlines now, “Tom Hiddleston refuses to take part in charity event because of the risk to his cleanliness “.
The actor responded sitting in his High Rise Apartment bearded and unkempt.” I only give up showers for my art. I have performed in Henry Vth and know what happens to kings who let their hygiene slip.”

      • M.A.F. says:

@Peaches-get off your high horse. Only Southern California is going through a drought & this isn’t the first time. Plus, Texas has been going through a drought heck of a lot longer. It is one bucket of water. You want to yell at people wasting water in So. Cal go yell at the baseball parks, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Lego Land, etc. or how about a neighbor who leaves the water running while brushing their teeth or washing the dishes.

      • Peaches says:

Should’ve clarified. I’m talking about the average citizen that’s not donating and lives in California. You all have point. I still think it’s wasteful if non-celeb people don’t donate actual money to the cause. And I’m sorry MAF, I didn’t know I couldn’t give my opinion of a gossip blog that’s a public forum. So I can only yell at Disney, Lego land and my neighbor who brushes their teeth and leaves the water running. Ok, hold on while I break into his house and catch him in the act. Just because a drought happens every year doesn’t mean real people are not affected by it, every year. It’s still our responsibility to conserve water. And sonalacea, you make a incredibly valid point. I still urge you to show a farmer all the people throwing buckets of water, he or she may have a different reaction. We already waste a lot of water. Now add this too.

    • Marianne says:

I’m sure these celebrities are donating as well. But if they were just simply writing a check it probably wouldn’t be getting as much attention as it is. More non-celebrities are probably learning what ALS is and could be donating themselves as well.

    • TheOriginalKitten says:

Gah! I posted above, Isa, before I saw your comment. Glad I’m not the only one that finds it all so wasteful.

    • Allegra says:

I think this explain better. Took from Jim Beaver Facebook:
      1. The Ice-Bucket Challenge(IBC) isn’t just people dumping water on their heads. The challenge includes donating money and spreading the word.
      2. The IBC, far from being mere “showing off” or a waste of activism, has been one of the most successful fundraisers of the modern age.
      3. ALS research and care facilities have taken in almost $16,000,000 (sixteen million dollars) in the past three weeks. The record for this period in years before the IBC was $50,000 (fifty thousand dollars). The IBC has generated roughly a 31,900% increase in donations over similar periods before the Challenge.
      4. People “just writing a check” was what was happening before. Negative-31,900% before. You know, back when ALS only got $50,000 in such a period.
      5. The amount of water “wasted” in these challenges is equivalent to considerably less than the average shower bath. And many people are using conservative measures with the water so it is not merely “wasted” in helping humanity.

      • Linn says:

$22.9 million now since July 29 and the number is still rising. Agree with everything else you said.

      • Isa says:

If it is raising money then I stand corrected. I have not heard anything about where you are supposed to donate or if anyone is actually donating, but I realize my FB friends list is a very, very, small percentage of the population.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

I get that the water-dumping was the vehicle that spurred people to donate and that people might not have donated without it. Yet there are SO many other wacky things they could have done without wasting one of earth’s resources.

It just seems so…American to be wasteful like that. Ugh.

      • Lilacflowers says:

One of my co-workers has ALS. There is no cure and there are very few treatment options. Pharma is not interested in researching treatments/cures for ALS because, as compared to other ailments, it is not that common, and the disease often progresses quite rapidly with only half of those diagnosed living three years after diagnosis. That means there aren’t a lot of potential test subjects and those there are progress too rapidly for testing. In short, there just aren’t enough people and not enough money for pharma, which is huge business, to be interested. That’s why organizations like ALSA have to raise awareness and do fundraising for research and to assist those who have the disease.

      • delorb says:

        @TOK

I don’t see how people around the world dumping water on their heads would or could change the fact that the Earth goes through periods of drought. And that water that’s being ‘wasted’ wasn’t going to magically find its way to drought stricken land anyway. I’m more outraged at the amount of water that goes to keep the greens green on golf courses.

  15. TT says:

Has anyone seen Ben Affleck’s? It’s pretty funny.

    • Lady Macbeth says:

I did, great that he and his wife ended up in the pool immediately after lol

      • TT says:

The best part is one of their kids laughing hysterically in the background.

      • delorb says:

        @TT,

Their kids are so adorable. Practically every picture I’ve seen of them, they’ve had smiles on their faces.

    • Belle says:

Ben’s was awesome… Best one I’ve seen! Whichever kid was laughing in the background was hilariously adorable.

He did say he was making a donation as well… I think most celebs are making donations AND doing the ice water!

      • Miss Jupitero says:

The challenge has been modified by the celebs: You donate, do the bucket, then challenge three people to do the same. Everybody is donating.

    • jammypants says:

      his was adorable

  16. SK says:

LUKE EVANS!!!!! Soooooo hot. So hot.

Also for any of my fellow Aussies, Kiwis, Soith Africans, etc: if you want to get involved in this challenge you should be raising awareness for MND – Motor Neutone Disease. That is what we all ALS. It’s really annoying me how many people are “raising awareness” for something without even knowing the correct terminology for it in their own country. Shows they’ve done no actual research. The videos are awesome though!!

    • icerose says:

@SK thanks for that info.I was surprised I did not know about this disease being a medical person in the UK and when I read the symptoms I was kind of curious because they sounded familiar. In the UK we call it Motor Neurone decease as well and it has a higher profile over here I think.

  17. Hissyfit says:

I’m so tired of this stupid challenge. Just donate money and be done with it. Such attention wh0res.

    • Linn says:

Right, how dare people bring attention to charity.

“Washington, D.C. (August 19, 2014) — As of Tuesday, August 19, The ALS Association has received $22.9 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 19). These donations have come from existing donors and 453,210 new donors to The Association.”

      http://www.alsa.org/news/media/press-releases/ice-bucket-challenge-081914.html

    • matilda11 says:

Hmmm, appropriate username? These *entertainers* are *entertaining* people for a good cause AND contributing themselves. What is wrong with that. As for the comments in other threads about water being “wasted” – they are outside, so the water goes back into the ground at worst, and probably onto plants, what’s the problem here?

      • Lilacflowers says:

And the campaign only spread to entertainers/professional athletes/celebrities within the past week or so. For the past month, Facebook has been under siege from just about every one who is not a celebrity doing the challenge. My five year old cousin did it and challenged his grandparents.

  18. browniecakes says:

Muscular Dystrophy Association’s telethon, a US non profit benefiting all kinds of muscular diseases, formerly hosted for years by Jerry Lewis is coming up on ABC network 8/31/14. It would be great if one of these doused stars would mention the ole’ telethon that benefits ALS and many other diseases like MS in their videos. http://mda.org/showofstrength

    • Algernon says:

Two things. One, the MDA telethon is a long-standing annual event that is ingrained in American society at this point. That’s a great thing, but it doesn’t need any help. They have the telethon the same time every year, they always do a bunch of specials and stuff to tie into it, and often have celebrities on the phones, etc, because it’s such an organized, well run event. Jerry Lewis built a great machine that succeeds in raising tons of money for a worthy cause every year, but the MDA telethon can stand on its own.

Two, ALS was struggling for research money. A number of outlets have done great write ups about how this viral video trend is causing a huge spike in donations (over ten million dollars and still counting), they’re up something like 1000% from this time last year in donations. ALS is a terrible disease but it doesn’t have a lot of awareness in the general populace, and it’s severely underfunded for research. So the ALS people came up with a catchy bit for people to do to raise awareness, and it’s working. They’re raising a ton of money.

There are a lot of important causes and great charities, and they each have to do something to set themselves apart, but just because the ice bucket challenge is a thing right now, doesn’t mean the telethon won’t rake in a ton of cash over Labor Day, because it will. And hopefully, ALS will continue to see donations and funding as well.

Wow. I hadn’t seen this. Those abs and that V line are going to be the death of me.

  20. ncboudicca says:

I want to say I’m so sick of this, but the massive upswing in donations makes me stuff my words back in my mouth.

Also, TommyAnne in a wet tshirt calling out BC. My week is made.

  21. Altariel says:

Sooo …much… wet shirt goodness … and pulling at his shirt….and those abs…and and and….Damn you Tom!! You know exactly what we ladies have been yearning for… Thank you thank you thank you, you son of a *ahem*…Ok, back to another day of ruined reality, this time by thoughts of his wet abs. Need help.

  22. A. Key says:

I don’t get it, what is the point of this? I’m seeing it everywhere! What charity is this for and what’s the association with dumping a bucket of water???

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

It’s for ALS… You have to pour ice buckets on yourself and donate money to the institution so that they can do more rsearch on this and try to find a cure…

  23. Miss Jupitero says:

I think Cumby should take the challenge while standing above Tom’s bed at 4am.

    And they should videotape this.

    That would…. break Twitter.

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Miss J.. how am I going to cool down now after imagining that scenario??? Naughty, naughty Miss J.

    • icerose says:

@Miss Juniper yes Benny is above his bed. Then just as Tom wakes up Helen Bonham’s cackle can be heard resonating through Elsinore Abby .

  24. Lindy79 says:

VERY slow work day for me so found this…

Cumby’s PR have said he’ll do it.

*takes bets on what hat/shirt combo he might rock out for it*

    • Innie Outie says:

Pfft, @Lindy79, apparently, according to some Cumby fans, if he DOES this challenge, he shouldn’t do it in a white shirt because it’s corny and Hiddles did it. Oh and Hiddles did it wrong, should’ve poured it over his head, and ALSO apparently the bucket was too small and water wasn’t cold since the ice had been there only for a minute, and who knows, maybe the bucket even got changed? 😀 😀 Ouch, I rolled my eyes so hard I think I actually hurt them lol.

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Hey, I’m a Cumby fan and Hiddles did it awesomly… Loved the white wet tee… hioping BC also wears a wet one… please… Oh, those abs.. hum hum… hiddlesbatch delicious abs..

        *drooling…*

      • jammypants says:

hahahaha! the shade is strong with those ladies.

      • Innie Outie says:

        ILU, @sonalaceae, you’re always a good sport ^_^

      • lindy79 says:

        Oh for fecks sake.
I thought Toms one was funny, it was missing the bom chikka wow wow music though but thats just me nitpicking

      • 'P'enny says:

lMAO @ innie – so true.

      • icerose says:

@Innie Outie Well some people will nick pick about anything including a charity event,
, I am sure Luke took great delight in running the tap as cold as it could get.
I would love to see the emails between Tom and Ben. ……………….. “Tom do you recommend white for maximum muscle exposure or should a go for something more eye catching like red and white stripes? Is it better if you take it from the front or the back and what temperature did you chill the water too to get your nipples to stand upright. Would it be more of an event if I photo bomb at the same time.””Your Bestie Benny

      • Innie Outie says:

@icerose, LMAO, the most hilarious thing is that I don’t even have to strain my imagination that much to hear Ben’s voice reading this letter. Easily!

      • M.A.F. says:

I swear, this little bit right here made me laugh out loud. Nice going ladies.

      • Katie says:

I love BC, this is too funny 😀

Seriously, BC’s better be good and informative. His bday thing raised money for the ALS Online Genetics Database for researchers and I stubbornly expect more from someone who’s already working with them LOL.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Has Cumberbatch done it yet? It has been more than 24 hours. Is he filming without breaks at all? Luke Evans did it during a break in filming and normal people are doing it during their afterwork hours.

    • MissMary says:

I’m betting BC does a funny one or attempts to. Doesn’t he support the British counterpart for ALSA?

      • Innie Outie says:

Oh I was just thinking that he absolutely should do a funny one, the faces he can pull are priceless!

      • Kazlock 1307 says:

BC has been a patron of MND for 10 years.Since he did ‘Hawking’.I’ve heard+but not confirmed) that he is very active within the organization.
He could be filming something to do with T.S. Elliot, for the BBC.Spotted in 30’s style clothing at weekend.

    • sigh((s)) says:

Did we ever find out what he’s filming?

  25. Ellen says:

Everyone is talking about his tee when I want to talk about his shorts. Are they his running shorts or his swim shorts and is he wearing anything under them?

I read on twitter that it was filmed in his garden and he’s now back in London. Is this true?

Finally who has watched it the most? My bet is on ‘p’enny followed by Liliac 🙂

    • Miss Jupitero says:

It’s his backyard garden. A very dark sorry garden it is.

      • Ellen says:

He needs a gardener then. What is it with men? They just think that sticking a pot of flowers and leaving it would do.

I’ll volunteer to be his gardener

      • joe spider says:

        It’s a courtyard garden

    • MissMary says:

I thought he was still in Ireland for High Rise? Someone on another site posted it’s the garden of the place the studio put him up in.

      • Allegra says:

        Maybe this help.
From Mr Cllr Peter Martin twitter account :
Tonight I hosted the cast & crew of ‘High Rise’ a new film by Ben Wheatley pic with Elisabeth Moss @NIScreen

      • Miss Jupitero says:

There are pictures of his “garden” out there. This is it, with way more overgrowth and moss and that sorry little geranium added.

      • joe spider says:

Believe me it is his, very low maintenance, garden, which he needs it to be given that he is away a lot.

      • Lilacflowers says:

As sad as it is, It looks better than mine and I don’t have the excuse of being in other countries for all but two weeks out of the last six months.

    • 'P'enny says:

Ok about 20 times – high def version & no sound. His voice not needed for this……

    • icerose says:

@Ellen They look like the ones he was wearing in a Thor 1 video where they were playing a game with the hammer,

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Ellen, sorry, I’ve only watched it twice. Does watching the Lego Loki version count?

  26. Vesta says:

Mmm…watching that made me feel so steaming hot, that I too had to immediately pour a bucket of ice water over me…

  27. Ginger says:

Hiddles wet t shirt…now I’ve lost all train of thought. For the rest of the day!

  28. Dancinnancy says:

Here is another article about the damage this ice bucket campaign could potentially do:

    http://qz.com/249649/the-cold-hard-truth-about-the-ice-bucket-challenge/

However all of that will also go out the window for Dong of Hope. As long as Cumberbatch nominates Fassbender. All will be forgiven.

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

And why don’t you do as we do in Portugal? Each person can donate 5% of their taxes to any of the existing charities around the country (Unicef Portugal, Red Cross, or any other of the existing ones). When filling in the IRS form, you choose an institution and that money is automatically sent to them. I do that and change the institution each year. So 5% of my taxes go to Unicef this year, last year it was to Red Cross, next year it will be some other institution – whether it’s a national or a local charity institution…
This year people are donating for LSA, maybe next year they’ll be donating to another institution… It’s a good thing this, why people always have to find something bad in every attempts to do good deeds?? It really drives me up the walls…

      • Dancinnancy says:

Portugal is amazing – I wish we would do that here. My point is that this is peer pressure. And people are more worried about sour grapes and negative press than the actual process. Otherwise people wouldn’t wait to be nominated.

      • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Not everything can be bad about our country… 😉

*though it’s a “bankrupted” country, there are some good things… *

  29. Lucretia says:

He looks up at the house at the very end — something about the look on his face, he’s not just looking away from camera. Wonder who’s there?

    • fairyvexed says:

Isn’t HBC’s house near his? It looks like he’s waving to someone.

      • Ellen says:

HBC lives next door and as he is looking up I presume it’s either her or one of her children. It makes sense because when he mentioned her name he glanced that way too.
As for who’s filming it. Probably almost certainly Creepy Luke. His finger makes an apperance at the corner of the camera at the end

      • Innie Outie says:

@Ellen, recognising Luke by his finger?? You scare me! 😀 😀 Occlumens! 😛

      • Secret Squirrel says:

but at the end he seems to look up to his own house, so somebody was watching him from there. HBC lives next door I understand, but surely it doesn’t overlook his yard from over his own house?

My money is on somebody (or bodies!) watching from his house. I would definitely be watching if I were there!! And laughing!

    • Allegra says:

I think the guy that threw the water on him is his PA Olly Auld.
Adn maybe they needed another person to film the hole thing.

      • Catherine says:

The picture doesn’t move though. If someone was filming it wouldn’t stay that still. Most likely it’s a camera on a stand. And that defo looks like Olly.

    • Lilacflowers says:

He looks up in both directions.

      • Ellen says:

That’s true and it’s not impossible for neighbours upstairs top rooms to over look each others gardens. He nights have his neighbours kids watching him

  30. FW says:

Kaiser, on the misspelling of “ASL”, good student Hiddles posted again with the correct name for the disease “ALS”. The video is also 4sec longer. The old version does not include HBC nomination. http://www.whosay.com/status/twhiddleston/969408?wsref=tw&code=AHP93oZ

We are all in debt to Nathan Fillion. His tweet said ” I did that for the ladies. You’re welcome.” answering why he nominated TH. Made my day

    • Allegra says:

      Good job Nathan Fillion!
And smart move too because now the challenge crossed the Atlantic ocean and arrived in England.

  31. Dara says:

Fair warning – I am sleep deprived, the morning caffeine has yet to kick in, and the work day is probably going to be sheer hell. This tends to make me grumpy, which when added to my resting state of snarky, resembles a mood that most would call “bitchy”. Feel free to skip over me and I’ll catch everyone later.

Here goes – while producing some not-unpleasant video interludes, this ice-bucket challenge makes my teeth hurt. I’m all for raising awareness, but how about raising actual money? Yes, yes, they say donations to ALS are up, but part of me is wondering if they are counting “pledges” as donations. And why is everyone saying this kind of awareness-raising is fantastic when the Live Below the Line nonsense catches so much shade. Granted, watching attractive celebs in wet t-shirts is so much more diverting than listening to them whine about how hungry they are… but still.

It’s too late now, but running some sort of auction/poll would have been really interesting. You know, click here to vote (each vote will cost you $1 and you must pay upfront) for who you want to see soggy. 4 celebs per round, and the winner gets wet. Now that’s an internet poll I can get behind.

    • MaddieH says:

      >>how about raising actual money?
“The ALS Association has since said that it has raised $15.6 million as a result of the challenge, nine times what it normally raises in the same time frame.”

      • Dara says:

@MaddieH – right you are. Now that the coffee has kicked in I was able to do some due-diligence and poke around the various ALS websites. Yes, vast amounts of money has been raised. Hurrah. So much so they aren’t quite sure how they are going to spend it all, one even said they are going to have to “staff up” to deal with their new-found wealth. It’s a good problem to have.

Now for a little perspective. Assuming the $15 million figure is accurate (and it’s likely to be higher), that figure would vaccinate over 300,000 children in the developing world against deadly and easily preventable illnesses, which is over twice the number of people that are afflicted with ALS each year. No expensive , time-consuming and possibly futile research needed. The bad news – 1.2 million (millon!) children would still perish from things we already have a cure for.

Please don’t misunderstand me – ALS, or any degenerative neuro/muscular-skeletal disease for that matter – is a horrible , horrible diagnosis that I don’t wish on anyone and I’m glad they are raising funds and awareness for research and treatment. But having been very close to someone who struggled for years with muscular dystrophy, I can tell you that even having a high public profile and a well-oiled fund-raising machine is not a guarantee of progress towards a cure.

      • MexicanMonkey says:

@Dara So we shouldn’t do it? By the way at some point vaccinations were also a dream for doctors and we had no way to combat all those now easily preventable illnesses, but now we can thanks to years and years of research. Hopefully soon all those other incurable diseases go down the same path.
It’s okay if you don’t like the idea of this challenge, to each his own, but hating it for raising too much money is a very weird logic.

      • Janeite says:

        Hi Dara,
My understanding, at least as far as the money raised during the MDA telethon goes, is that quite a bit of the funds raised go to patients with neuromuscular diseases and their families in order to help with hospital expenses, in-home nursing and medical care, durable medical equipment, etc. It doesn’t all go to research.

Not sure how it works for the ALS Association but I’d imagine it’s probably pretty similar.

But whether or not it all goes to research, it’s still badly needed either way so as far as I’m concerned it’s all good.

      • Dara says:

@MexicanMonkey – I’m not saying it shouldn’t be done, the opposite actually – but I guess my point is that raising a gigantic pile of money doesn’t automatically mean everything is now rainbows and unicorns.

@Janeite, The MDA has consistently raised over $50 million each year since the late 90’s and there is still no “cure”. But yes, that money does incredible things in the way of treatment and other support for those with MD, and I’m assuming the money raised for ALS will also make a similar impact.

This is not a quick-fix scenario. It is likely there are years, if not decades, more work to do and I’m not sure if “stunt” fundraising that happens to go viral is sustainable for that sort of run. If it turns out this kind of campaign is a game-changer for future fundraising then I will gladly eat my words.

      • MaddieH says:

@Dara – Actually, the problem is, this is exactly the way many people in pharmaceutical industry think – that it is a waste of time and money to develop drugs for such a small patient population. ALS is a disease that is particularly hard to study because it is both rare and diverse in its causes and mechanisms. But this is just how research works – it is conducted without any promise of immediate success in finding the cure against the disease in question or even understanding its mechanism. It is time- and money-consuming process.
And even if this challenge turns out to be a one-time thing, even if all those celebrities do not become involved with charity and just donate this once, I am not going to question their motives and will just let myself be glad that for once their need for attention has led to something good for scientific research.

  32. joe spider says:

I can’t believe all the snark on this thread about raising money for charity. The whole way to do this is to raise awareness of that charity.

For the information of those not in the UK – THERE.IS.NO.WATER.SHORTAGE.IN.THE.UK.
If someone can explain how this “wastage” of a bucket of water here and there is going to help the water shortage in Ca. I would be grateful. Perhaps a few fewer private swimming pools in Ca might help.

    Sorry, rant over.

    • jammypants says:

Exactly. Don’t forget all those gulf courses and fracking. California was built over a desert. What do they expect? It’s just the same with places built on top of swamps. There will be flooding and sinkholes. The finger pointing and patronising about wasting water is a bit over the top, imo.

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

I can actually copy what I wrote on the other post from Hemsworth… Just a sec…
A small bucket of water isn’t that much and isn’t wasted, it becomes part of the water cycle. One should actually be protesting against pollution of rivers overall as well as the destruction of forests worldwhile… That causes a lot of destrution. Usage of pesticides in crops pollutes the soil which destroys all aquiferous water; destruction of forest makes it more probable for the area destroyed to become barren and eventually with time turning into a desert; you know that by destroying the forests, there’s less humidity in the air, therefore, you’ll get less rain with the passing of years?
Animal farms wastes – another way to destroy fresh, clean water.
All sorts of industry that pollute both air and soil, thus leading to the decrease of water… I could go on giving environmental examples, but…

      Now: a 15 minute shower with the tap half closed – 135 litres of water, when a 5 minutes shower is enough;
      a bucket of water – 3 to 5 litres of water…

So… what can I say more?

    • 'P'enny says:

i have to admit i am getting sick of those moaning about wasting water, there is an expression, ‘don’t chuck stones while living in glass houses..’ or something like that.

how many people have baths [showers only!], run water while cleaning teeth, flush the loo after a single wee, sprinkle gardens every day, wash cars weekly, use dish washers, fill washing machines half-full and not use economy settings, and worst of all, don’t fix their bleeding’ dripping taps!

    • Anne tommy says:

Well said Joe Spider and supporters. And of course Tom had to do it once challenged, how could he refuse? And very grateful I am too…

      • jammypants says:

If he refused, they would criticise him for that as well. Like said, he never wins with the haters.

  33. bella says:

Although I think the world needs more charity and solidarity, this challenge could be done differently without wasting water. In the other hand it’s important to have famous people engaged in projects like this to get the attention of everyone.
Many people only learned about this terrible disease because this challenge . True. But is also true that is still a way to inflate ‘big egos’. As the article says: ” you are not a philantrophist just because down an ice bucket”. True. Kuddos for those who did the challenge just to help and not to be flattered by a legion of blind fans.

    • icerose says:

It is very difficult to say why people are doing it and how much is just fan reaction. It was started by non celebs and it just seems to have spread.I do not think any one is calling themselves a philanthropist for joining in. Yes to some degree it may be about ego’s and PR. There is in most celebrity involvement in charitable works or causes.I would go as far as saying even in the non celebrity world the supporting of charities can involve big egos
To my mind you have to weigh which is more important. A little but of ego and some water wastage versus raising awareness and funding research and the latter works for me at the moment. I suspect it will all be over soon as the novelty wears off bit at least the charity will be better off.

  34. Lucretia says:

What’s the connection to Nathan Fillion? Did they work on something together? Isn’t NF Canadian?

    • icerose says:

yes he was cute in it but I am not sure the bucket was the correct size and those ice cubes looked far to knew to bring the temperature up to the required level of nipple erection. The Ice Bucket challenge regulations clearly say……………………………………

      Joking aside he was lovely’

  35. Innie Outie says:

    Luke did it! http://www.whosay.com/status/lukeevans/970198?wsref=tw&code=WOi93yz

LOLing at his escape at the end. That was really funny and cute 😛

    • sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

Lol.. he was so cold.. poor Luke… 🙂

He went to the trailer to change clothes so fast… lol

    • joe spider says:

      Copy cat! 🙂

    • 'P'enny says:

he was so wimpy! LMAO 🙂

      sorry Luke.

But i love you’re welsh accent, i really need to hear more of those welsh lovely valley tones. mmm next Richard Burton, me thinks.

      • joe spider says:

Doubt Richard Burton will be doing the challenge!!

      • icerose says:

If you wand beautiful welsh vowels they should call Gareth David Lloyd out.

      • 'P'enny says:

nooo Joe! LOL i mean’t natural acting Welsh successor to Richard Burton…. Although maybe Michael Sheen has that one sown up, 🙂 I really need to catch up on Michael’s new show. Come on netflix,,,

      • Lilacflowers says:

@joe spider, I now have an image of the skeleton of Richard Burton pouring ice water over itself. Has anyone challenged his daughter Kate Burton, a tremendous actress in her own right?

    • jammypants says:

      haha!!

    • Secret Squirrel says:

I feel sorry for the first celeb whose nominees don’t partake. Eventually this challenge will lose momentum…

      • joe spider says:

Does it have a time limit?

      • jammypants says:

        24 hours

      • Janeite says:

Hi Squirrel! Yeah, I agree that’s it’s going to lose momentum eventually. I’ve seen that some actors are now challenging athletes and vice versa so bringing in the sports world could mabye keep it going for a little while longer.

I’ve also seen some “regular” peeps challenging actors via Facebook and Twitter although I don’t know if that really counts or not!

      • pretzel says:

I think it’s been quite sometime that Affleck challenged Nell Patrick Harris. I don’t think he has responded yet.

  36. joe spider says:

For those who don’t know, ALS or motor neurone disease is the disease that Prof. Stephen Hawking is affllicted with. It is extremely unusual for someone to survive the immense length of time he has with this disease.

  37. Leaflet says:

Update: Oprah’s ALS ice bucket challenge was hilarious!
After my fairy god mother Oprah took the challenge, she challenged Dame Helen Mirren to take it as well. She also said that she didn’t know if Dames owned ice buckets and offered to lend Helen hers. Lmao.

  38. Allegra says:

    Cookie-monsters also took the ice-bucket-challenge.
    So cute!
    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152226818936587

  39. Catriona says:

Lol Hiddles and Hemsworth are both a little dyslexic as they both said, “ASL” instead of “ALS” 🙂

It’s all good though, they are a part of the handful of celebs who did this AND mentioned that it was going to a good cause, Tom even mentioned alsa.org to make donations, which 98% of the other celebs failed to do. They just went in for their close-ups, did a duck face and name dropped their other famous friends (cough SelenaGomez cough)

  40. joe spider says:

The good thing about Tom’s video (apart from Tom of course!) is that he very clearly sets out why he is doing it and where to go to make donations. Pity more of the challenged don’t do that.

    • Leaflet says:

I think I liked CH’s & TS’ challenge better because they both donated said that they would donate their own money to the cause. I love Zoe Saldana’s too because she shows us she can’t do it but sacrifices her hubby Preggo for the challenge. She in the end states that : “We are celebs. We can afford to donate. Don’t just take the challenge and not donate!” I love her for that. She also explains what ALS is and may have mentioned the website. Charlie Sheen’s is plain old hilarious.

  41. sonalaceae (Nighty) says:

This picture is so sweet and funny… ahahahaha…

    https://twitter.com/MsKate1930/status/501810143794044928

  42. joe spider says:

Unfortunately, the MacMillan Cancer Fund have hijacked this challenge to get donations for themselves.

    Poor taste methinks.

  43. Allegra says:

Now I really need to see this, from Mr Andy Gotts ‏:
“Just looking through my shots of Tom Hiddleston @twhiddleston and I think he must have been channeling James Dean! Good job done well Mr H!”

    • joe spider says:

Funnily enough Allegra, when I saw the Timestalk Madrid interview (imo his best look ever next to Coriolanus) I thought he would be brilliant cast as James Dean.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Gotts has posted more pictures on his Twitter account. Amazing shots and Gotts seems to be in love.

      • joe spider says:

Can only see one – help!

      • Ellen says:

I’m in the minority in saying I don’t like Gotts photos. It’s funny because Hiddles looks better in the selfies he did recently on his own phone using a black and white filter.
In Gotts photos it shows up his bad skin ( from the orange makeup?) and receding hairline. I also noticed his lips look unusually thin.
No this dragonfly doesn’t like. I hope the other photos are better.

Actually black and white can be very unforgiving and grainy. I think the makeup was to cover sunburn. I noticed it was very obvious earlier this year when I understand he may have been on skiing holiday – it is easy to get accidentally burned at higher altitudes.

If you look here (which is post bang on the head) his skin isn’t bad except for suntan remains.

      • Lilacflowers says:

With that lighting and proximity, a five year old child’s skin would show flaws. I like the pictures because they show character. So he is back or still in NI? Sounds like the mayor can be added to the list of the smitten. Lego Loki has done a copy of the Gotts’s tweet and picture and Gotts commented on it.

      • joe spider says:

        @Lilacflowers.

Loved the Lego Loki response, also his ice bucket challenge.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@joe spider, yes! Loved both Tom’s and Lego Loki’s ice bucket challenge. Nobody else has been knocked over by an ice cube.

      • Ellen says:

As soon as LL was mentioned on here I rushed over to twitter for a look. LL does it again. The little dude deserves his own fans

      • Innie Outie says:

I agree with @Lilac. The photo is very unflattering – but shows character and has a story behind it. Love it!

      • Allegra says:

I think an ice cube hit his nose. Poor Tom.

      • Allegra says:

        Lilacflowers:

According to some fans he left the film set a few hours ago.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Innie Outie, and it does take character and a bit of courage to agree to be photographed in unflattering light. I see a lot of photography exhibits in museums and the “artsy” portrait photographs tend to be unflattering to the subject matter and almost challenging to both the subject and viewer.

      • Ava says:

@ Ellen do you know gotts work? That is what he Is going for…he tries to light the person to show and enhance everything. Google his work. He’s not trying for glamour.

    From Cllr Peter Martin ‏:
Just had a conversation with @twhiddleston on the set of #HighRise what a genuinely nice bloke. Very impressed. Pleasure to have hosted you.

  45. Allegra says:

    Man, this is really mean.
    From Andy Gotts :
As the Tom Hiddleston test pic is a hit! I will release an outtake from the shoot when I get 10k followers and then no more till next year!

Now we need to get more 4 K followers.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      I was before

      • Allegra says:

        Lilacflowers:

Well, i just have to learn the true meaning of delayed gratification like some fans
        pointed out.
No, I’m kidding. But i’m really happy that Tom is being praised for his work, dedication, kindness. He really deserves it.

      • Lilacflowers says:

True, Allegra, I think we’ll all be waiting that year to see those other pictures. And I am wondering if that is an indication of the release date for the film.

  46. Lilacflowers says:

Question: on his IMDB page, two documentaries, one full-length and the other a short, are listed as being in post-production or recently completed. Does anyone know anything about these, like when were they done? What are release dates?

  47. Dara says:

Off-topic… but slightly related since he’s also a hunky English actor. I thought I would never see the day, but Richard Armitage has joined Twitter, @RCArmitage.

  48. Innie Outie says:

Speaking about artsy HR-related stuff: have you ladies seen this? https://twitter.com/LASTEXITshirts/status/502509693898858496/photo/1

    I’d so wear this tee!

    • Dara says:

The Last Exit to Nowhere rocks – fly your nerd flag but in a totally cool, kinda undercover way. I want a Nostromo, Nakatomi Corp and/or Kobayashi Porcelain tee in the worst way!

Not sure how much our American friends know about the upcoming independence referendum on Scotland by Alistair Darling and Alex Salmond are the politicians fronting the no and yes campaigns and James McAvoy challenged them!

    • TotallyBiased says:

And Nick Gillespie tweeted that this is the penultimate day of filming….so ends tomorrow. Bangor Groupies must be sad pandas now.

      • Allegra says:

Yes, It´s kind sad. Everybody is leaviing the set and tomorrow will be the last day.
And about the locals, you are right. They will miss the cast and crew, especially Tom.

    • joe spider says:

      @Allegra

      That’s a new name for it! 😉

    • Allegra says:

And according to a local lady, tonight the boys(Tom, Ben W, and Laurie R) were at @QFTBelfast.

    Great smile from both.

  53. Allegra says:

From Jim McClean who is film-critic:
“Ohh @twhiddleston you are so sneaky, sitting in the @QFTBelfast beside Mr Wheatley. 🙂 your thoughts on the episode? @banterflix”

He is talking about Dr Who.

So just imagine–there you are at the theatrical screening of the new Doctor Who (1st ep of new season, brand new Doctor) dressed in your cute Tardis outfit. The episode ends, the lights come up, and the director of that episode stands up and says “Hey, how about a little Q & A?” Then on your way out of the theatre, you wave and say hi to Tom Hiddleston–who says hi back to you.
Not a bad way to spend a Saturday night!

  55. Innie Outie says:

The exchanges between High Rise team members are really great. Looks like lots of them immensely enjoyed the experience. I love seeing people being so enthusiastic and positive about their work and am hoping that the film will turn out to be worth all this excitement.

“Lovely to see @twhiddleston tonight. Ever the gentleman, still stopped to thank fans even though he was short of time “

  57. Dara says:

If the invitation is any indication, the wrap party for High Rise is going to be one for the ages! Even Wheatley’s storyboard drawings are disturbing…

  60. Allegra says:

    From Beatrice Ballard:
“Tom makes a brilliant Laing – he has the talent and the intelligence to bring this complex and troubled hero to life”
