Britney To Sing a Duet with Marilyn Monroe

Britney Spears is reportedly going to record a duet of the unreleased Marilyn Monroe song “Down Boy” with none other than goddess Monroe herself. This is supposedly an intermediate step in her comeback before she actually starts singing songs by herself.

I get that she is trying to get her career back on track, but why drag Marilyn Monroe into this? Marilyn is an icon — I can not imagine blaspheming her name by adding it next to Britney Spears on an album cover.

From Daily Snack:

Britney is being lined up to join the late sex symbol in a rendition of an unreleased Marilyn song Down Boy.

The Toxic singer, 25, is even said to be planning to dress like Marilyn – who died aged 36 in 1962.

Britney will wear a platinum wig and 50s-style white dress for the video shoot, sources claimed.

The career move comes after it emerged that Lance Bass, 28 – former *NSYNC bandmate of her ex-lover Justin Timberlake, 26 – has secured the rights to Down Boy.

I am so bummed about this. Marilyn Monroe must be rolling around in her grave, she doesn’t deserve to be used for Britney’s half assed comeback like this. Just because American Idol managed to bring Elvis over from the other side to make beautiful music with Celine Dion does not mean that lightning is going to strike twice with Britney.

Although Britney and Marilyn aren’t the best singers, I would at least have some hope that this project could be pulled off if Britney hired a stylist to re-create a glam look for the video that Marilyn would be proud of. However, I am doubtful this classy duet will come to fruition, considering I just read that Britney asked her back up dancers to cut ther hair to match her G.I. Jane cut that she sports underneath her bad QVC wigs.

After much soulsearching (actually, it was a bit of a no brainer), I’ve decided that this collaboration is not right, plain and simple. Marilyn and her legend should be left in peace, and not be dredged up all the time to compare her with pop tarts with no discernable talent. I’m going to start my own petition to stop this from happening. Maybe Clive Davis will listen to me if I get enough signatures (Hey if illiterate celebutards can do it, then damn it, so can I).
