Rihanna forced to cancel birthday plans; Chris Brown fears for life

Rihanna had amazing plans for her big 21st birthday bash. According to In Touch, the February 20th party was going to have more than 200 guests and a circus theme. That was before Chris Brown attacked her, which has resulted in all sorts of let-downs for Rihanna since then.

Rihanna had big plans for her 21st birthday – a carnival-themed bash in New York City complete with performers, a lavish spread and more than 200 guests. But sadly, those plans have changed. In seclusion after reportedly suffering a severe beating at the hands of her boyfriend, Chris Brown, Rihanna has canceled the party, along with several upcoming concert dates.

What’d she do instead? Well, it wasn’t anything like sitting at home alone, but it didn’t compare to a carnival birthday party.

There still might be drama with Chris Brown, but Life & Style can exclusively report that Rihanna celebrated her 21st birthday in style: going to a movie with friends and then partying the night away! “Rihanna, accompanied by some pals, first went to an early showing of Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail in Santa Monica” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “She looked beautiful. She was wearing glasses, so you couldn’t see her eyes, but she looked fine to me. “After the movie, Rihanna hit up the Hollywood Hills for a birthday party in her honor.

“People were scrambling at her feet to make sure her every wish was granted. There was birthday cake, champagne, you name it!” a party guest tells Life & Style. And how did the songstress handle all the attention? “She was a bit shy at first and kept her glasses on most of the night. But once she saw her old crew and got used to being out, she really got into it. She was even dancing!” the party guest reveals. “You could tell she was happy to be out. She needed it.” The party wrapped up with her friends serenading her with “Happy Birthday.” “That definitely made her smile!” the party guest says. “She’s healing and it will take time, but she still looked beautiful.”

It sounds like Rihanna still had fun, but it obviously wasn’t the birthday party she had planned. It’d be a pretty amazing party for most of us, but in terms of Hollywood events it sounds average. And there is nothing wrong with that at all, it’s just sad that Rihanna didn’t get to have the once-in-a-lifetime event she had planned.

Celebitchy pointed out how significant it was that Rihanna had to cancel her Grammy performance. That’s the biggest event there is for a musician, and to have to miss it is a big deal. There were also rumors that she’d been scheduled to perform at the Oscars and had to cancel, though that was never confirmed.

So how are things going for Chris Brown? Not too well, not that most people are shedding a tear for him. Brown is scared for his life, has been receiving a lot of threats, and is surrounded by security.

As Rihanna celebrated her 21st birthday in LA on February 20 with friends, Chris Brown remained in seclusion surrounded by the bodyguards he has hired to protect him. “Chris is scared,” says an insider. “Not only did he probably lose his career and his girlfriend, but he’s also fearing for his security and his life.” Chris, 19, who was arrested on February 8 for making criminal threats, has good reason to watch his back. After reports that he allegedly hurt Rihanna during an argument in a parked car, there have been calls for bans on his music as well as those who have vowed to seek revenge. “Chris is a marked man,” a music insider says. “He faces criminal charges and possible jail time, but he’s going to have to deal with Rihanna’s legion of fans and her close-knit friends in the industry.” And the leak of a police photo on February 19 of a bruised and bloodied Rihanna only made things worse. “That photo was the last straw,” the music insider says. “The threats started pouring in the moment that appeared online.”

[From In Touch Weekly]

Obviously I don’t have any empathy for Chris Brown and his threats. He deserves every consequence imaginable for what he did, and I hope he gets them. He had a lot of talent. It’s too bad he chose to behave in such a monstrous, unconscionable way, because he could have had a decent career. Instinct tells me that Rihanna is only going to get bigger and bigger – if that’s possible – and no one’s going to remember Brown as anything other than the guy who assaulted her.

look, i have zero sympathy for chris brown AT ALL. he deserves to go to jail and to have his career/life ruined, but to wish death on someone? that’s really not the way we should be thinking. death is permanent. to say someone deserves to die…wow. but yes, let him suffer the consequences for sure.

  2. Annie says:

    Poor RiRi. 🙁

  3. ohno says:

Chris Brown is a dirtbag and RiRi looks like a hooker in the hideous getup.

  4. Diva says:

Granted, I’ve never seen alot of hookers, but I never saw a hooker dress like that… I’ve seen Madonna or Cher dress like that ONSTAGE… hmmmm, just like Rihanna is here. They’re called costumes.

  5. MaiGirl says:

I agree, Ohno. She’s such a pretty girl; she would lose nothing by toning it down.

And Chris Brown is a bag of dogsh*t.

  6. ohno says:

They’re also called garish and whorish. Being compared to the crap Vadge and Cher wear onstage is NOT a compliment.

  7. ohno says:

One more thing…you obviously never experienced the “old” Times Square NYC if you have seen a hooker or tranny dressed like that.

  8. WOW! says:

    @ohno

You got that right. You would have been lucky to see them even wearing that much, lol.

  9. luckystar says:

Look, let’s not get all crazy out of proportion here. He beat her up and deserves prosecution not death. The guy’s young and needs counseling and to learn his lesson and not beat on women anymore. His career’s wrecked…but a death threat? What kind of a stupid violent thug nation have we become? AWFUL

  10. luckystar says:

She does look like a cheap prostitute. Ick. Pretty girl gone bad, in the wrong way.

  11. IriD says:

The only thing she’s showing is some cleavage and her arms. You see more actual skin at the beach. I agree the costume is ugly, but I wouldn’t say that an opaque bodysuit, even a flesh colored one, is whorish. Cher and Madonna might have worn the black meshy part without the bodysuit underneath… then I would concur.

  12. luckystar says:

I was talking about the thigh-high black leather boots with spikes, that’s kind of cheap, biker wear.

  13. OXA says:

the outfit is tasteless and tacky, Brown can be Bubba’s bitch in jail.

  14. DD says:

Death threats is a bit much. He’s already gonna suffer big time by losing his career, his reputation, prosecution for his crime and that he deserves. To wish death on him is wrong.

  15. marie antoinette says:

I don’t get it – you’re pissed at Chris Brown committing an act of violence, so you’re going to threaten him with, erm, an act of violence?!!

It’s like Jay-Z’s “he’s a dead man walking” comment – didn’t the rapper build his entire career on objectifying women and glorifying thuggery? Or was that a different Jay-Z?

Chris Brown has kissed his career goodbye, and rightly so (although I loved his Jordin Sparks duet), but doesn’t the entire justice system work on the basis that a man can change? The guy has to take his punishment like a man, but we should remember that he’s young and not irredeemable.

  16. Tanya says:

Chris Brown’s career is not dead yet and Rihanna can still save him by taking ome of the blame. She loves him and will probably do that even though there is no excuse for him beating her and leaving her like that.
Wishing death on him is just fanatic especially in light of the fact that she has not even pressed charges or broken up with him. Rihanna not coughing but these idiots have a cold.

  17. Baholicious says:

Girlfriend is lucky to see this birthday. That’s how serious this ‘altercation’ was…you know for those who may think otherwise. Oops, did I say Chris Brown ‘defenders?’

  18. becca says:

I really, really hope that Rhianna’s friends and family will convince her to dump Chris. I’m afraid that she’s going to want to go into a very typical “pattern” and try to stay with him. I learned about this in a class of mine. Abuse victims tend to stay with the abuser because their pattern of behavior is familiar. The unknown scares the living daylights out of them.

Rhianna’s got a powerful network behind her. I hope someone like Jay-Z can convince her to step out as a single woman when she finally recovers.

  19. BellaB says:

Please. I’ll believe he has death threats when I see Federal Agents protecting him….you think In Touch Weekly really knows how to vet credible threats? Morons. It’s gossip.

Teen/Young adult “domestic violence” is escalating. What msg will it send her fans if she returns to an abusive and toxic relationship? I hope someone, family or management/lawyer/doctor, helps her see what a bad precent it would set.

  20. StrawberryFairy says:

I agree that Chris Brown deserves much of whats happening to his career right now, but when will it be enough? Chris Brown didnt kill anyone!! HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO DIE FOR THIS!!! He did something really stupid and he is paying for it. He should be allowed to make amends with Rihanna and his fans and earn back people’s respect, but the dude’s had enough already!

  21. pm says:

The boy does not deserve to die. People are just plain crazy.

  22. czarina says:

Well, naturally he doesn’t deserve to DIE, but I have to go with BellaB on this one–I think the “death threats” are just a PR move to create some sympathy for the guy.
The only possible benefit of all of this sad and ugly mess is that it is a very public messge about domestic violence and how it should NEVER be tolerated…and there are no excuses or justifications that make it “understandable”.
I hope Brown’s career IS over…I hope young people are looking at this incident and the huge fallout over it, and have gained a sobering lesson in what domestic violence is and what it leads to.

  23. SolitaryAngel says:

Hey, Chris Brown–how does it FEEL to have someone say, “I’m going to kill you”? Doesn’t feel very good, does it? Well, now maybe you know a little about how Rihanna felt when YOU told HER that! Although it always hurts more when the person saying that to you is supposed to LOVE you.

I think the death threats are wrong (and probably made up), but if it makes him feel scared, alone, and afraid–then GOOD.

  24. CB Rawks says:

Chris Brown feels fear? That must be interesting for him, since he usually inflicts it on others.

  25. CB Rawks says:

    “Chris Brown didnt kill anyone!!”

That’s right. There was a witness who called the cops before that could happen.

Personally, I have a vigilante heart. And I would like to beat the everloving crap out of him, simply because that’s the only thing thugs like him understand.
He’s only upset right now because revealing his true self has cost him dollars and fans. The pig.

  26. sosad says:

i think im going to cry :'( rihanna deserves all the happiness in the world. i hope she has a wonderful birthday despite having to cancel and the drama in her life

  27. Grace Olsson says:

I am very surprised with Rihana…I heard that she wants to come back to Chris…I dont believe about that…He used violence with her and she wants romance with him….

  28. sissoucat says:

Good to see that Rihanna is slowly re-entering public life.

But when all is said and done, and Chris Brown prosecuted and sentenced to whatever is appropriate, let’s not forget Rihanna needs therapy as much as Chris Brown.

And her outfit fits in with Madonna’s, which is not a compliment. Fake nudity can be all the way from artistic to vulgar – in this case it’s not a pretty sight. Yikes.

  29. Wonder Woman says:

She looks and acts like a prostitute at age 18 and we are all surprised her bf beat her?

  30. czarina says:

@WonderWoman–Wow, O.J.–I didn’t realize you had internet access in prison!!!

  31. trollydolly says:

    @ Wonderwoman – it’s a stage outfit.
I think you must be joking. Surely you can’t be one of those cretins who believes how a woman dresses is enough to provoke a man to violence? So a man with no impulse control and violent sadistic tendencies is not to blame – Rhianna is??
You must have posted that to be provocative.

  32. Wonder Woman says:

    trollydolly:

dont take the comment so seriously, I was cranky and didnt have my coffee this morning

  33. Wonder Woman says:

    czarina:
lmao wow took you an hr to come up with that one? nice 🙂

  34. Amphitrite says:

For one, it’s a stage outfit, and a fairly conservative one at that. Her arms and cleavage is all that shows, and considering the stuff some other people wear on stage, she’s pretty much covered up.

Secondly, death threats is a little much. Of course Chris should be punished- how else will he learn? And the justice system is built to do just that, without the help of vigilantes or fans with vendettas.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind – Mohandas Gandhi. No one should be killed for committing crimes, under any circumstances. It doesn’t make sense. It’s like fucking for virginity or bombing for peace- it’s an oxymoron.
