This is Malin Ackerman, 36. Before you go “who?” she is a TV actress and most recently starred on Trophy Wife, which was canceled by ABC earlier this year after one season. (I watched the pilot and it was pretty goofy. It also featured Marcia Gay Harden and Bradley Whitford.) I know her because she gets papped occasionally and keeps her name in the press, most notably when she broke up with her husband, musician Roberto Zincone, last year. She has one child with Zincone, son Sebastian, 16 months.
Anyway as you noticed from the title and photo above, Malin has chopped her formerly shoulder length hair into a very short piecey bob with shaved sides, similar to the looks sported by Miley Cyrus, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, and Robin Wright et. al. In these photos, taken at an HBO post-Oscars party, she looks pretty happy and excited to show it off, but she usually looks like that. She seems to have a happy, bubbly personality.
She looks at lot like Charlize in that photo above, doesn’t she? I think she looks pretty good, she’s gorgeous and can pull this off, but it’s a much different look than we’re used to seeing from her. Here’s what she looked like before:
See, she looks totally different. Malin’s Wiki lets us know that she used to sing for an alternative band called The Petalstones, which her ex husband played drums for. So she may be more adventurous that we might assume.
US Magazine reports that Malin was flirting with Liev Schreiber’s brother at that HBO party where she debuted her haircut, to which I would say “yum” since I think Liev is The Sex. (I love Ray Donovan! It’s on Showtime though not HBO, why is his brother disrespecting him by partying with a rival cable network?!) I write that I would say yum, but then I read that Liev’s brother is Pornstache! Really! I forgot all about that. Pablo Schreiber is Liev’s half brother and he plays the sadistic bastard on Orange is The New Black. How can she get with that?!

Not my type at all, and hard for me to not associate with his character on OITNB. I guess he’s just a great actor like his hotter brother.
So Malin without hair is getting with Pornstache without a stache. Or at least she flirted with him once. It seems fitting somehow.

I agree. The longer hair softened up her face. Without the hair, it makes her face look wider. The whole effect is not very flattering.
I don’t like it because even with long hair, you can tell she has very thin, brittle hair. With long hair, she could kind of hide how thin it is. With this cut, there’s no hiding it.

I find she has a large jaw….almost looks like an underbite (although you can’t really notice it in these pics). My husband doesn’t see it, am I the only one that thinks this?

Out of the women mentioned in the article, Halle and Charlize are the only ones who look good with short hair. Robin needs hair too.
Jean Seberg and Winona Ryder looked the best with short hair, out of all the celebrities I’ve seen. Natalie Portman and Emma Watson looked good too.
Right, you need a thin neck for very short hair, then it works the best.

She really looks very different with the new haircut and I like it. She was beautiful before but she looks beautfiul and interesting now and stands out of all the woman with long, blonde hair.

Take note ladies. Once again… hair extensions leave you with no other option, than a pixie cut to get rid of the damage. But Malin is such a cute girl and this cut looks fine on her. She has a great face and the cut flatters it.

He also played Olivia Benson’s creepy, murdering stalker in SVU Law and Order. He managed to be very horrible in that too, so I guess he is a very good actor.

I like it in the dead in front views, not so much from the sides. She’s definitely got the cheekbones to pull off a short cut though!
She needs to see about getting her teeth whitened up a bit or at least polished. And her hair is a no go for me. It makes her face look rounder and more boxy I think. You need a face like Robin Wright to carry off hair like that. Her face is all sharp angles and sharp cheekbones so it works. I think it looks awful on Miley Cyrus too since her face is too round to carry it off,
I think Robin looks very harsh with short hair. Her features are too strong for it. You need small, delicate features to pull it off, like Winona or Emma Watson, IMO.
Her teeth looks fine to me. Neon white teeth looks creepy.
I don’t like neon white either but her teeth are gray looking to me. She doesn’t need them super white but just a bit touched up.
Yes, she really needs to destroy her (probably perfectly healthy) teeth because some people are obsessed with fake white teeth.

The cut does make her face look rounder from some angles but from others it looks pretty cute. I thought she was hilarious in Rock of Ages, but that’s all I know her from. Also, I’m reeling from learning that Pornstache is Leiv Schreiber’s brother!

C’mon, Malin Ackerman is not a “who?” type actress. She landed prominent supporting roles in the past. I’m not even following her career but I know she was in Watchmen. And she was hilarious in The Heartbreak Kid.

She is in Trophy Wife which I find pretty funny most of the time. You can see the extensions on her in that show so I imagine she has very thin fine hair and after a while you get tired of battling the wanna be long hair.

She’s attractive either way, but has a sharp/harsh face and needs the longer hair to soften her a little. Also, why do they all have to get the same cut? Personally, I’d rather go bald than have the same haircut as M.S.

I think you need just the right bone structure to pull off that haircut, and she doesn’t quite have it. Few do. She doesn’t look terrible, but it’s not great.

I can’t believe anyone got through Trophy Wife. After the three (or two?) ex wives and co spilled into the emergency room I turned it off.
I actually decided to ignore the stupidity of that scene and continued with it. I don’t regret it. I found myself laughing out loud at a lot of scenes, what is pretty rare. It is not a master piece but I find it way more entertaining than Modern Family or the like. The actors were also pretty good, especially the children. I also liked Malin in the Happythankyoumoreplease, so I already had a soft spot for her…and I find her gorgeous 🙂 Cool that she plays around with hairstyles, at least it’s not boring.

She is beautiful but NO to that haircut–it’s age-inappropriate and doesn’t flatter her face at all.
I think the cut makes her appearences more youthful and interesting and I generally admire women who opt for short hair even if their ‘bone structure’ was not made for it. It seems liberating and I’d love to do it myself, just today got out of a salon with 1/3 of my length chopped, but sadly my hair is to fine for fierce haircuts and I hate styling it at home. Btw she reminds me of a more bubbly version of Diane Kruger and she was super hot in Watchmen.

I’m generally in favour of short hair on women because too many women go with boring long hair just because they don’t know what else to do or don’t dare to have something different even though it would suit them better, and I think Malin pulls it off nicely.
I don’t think it’s “super short”, though. I’m a woman and have shorter hair than that. And I’m almost her age. I don’t see the problem.

As someone with strong facial features mid length hair tends to look best as it softens your features. However, I have to say that I like this look on her. She is confident and can pull it off. It’s pretty edgy even compared with Charlize or Miley. Good for her! It’s just hair and it will grow. Have fun with it!
She pulls it off okay, she has a very cute doll-like face . But I think she looks better with longer hair.
