Taylor Swift has the perfect metaphor for describing her Harry Styles breakup

Here are some photos of Taylor Swift at the iHeartRadio event over the weekend, where she performed. The tube-top ensemble is Calvin Klein, by the way. She’s probably trying to look like it’s 1989 (ugh). I wish we had the new photos of Swifty taking Olivia Benson the Scottish Fold out for another walk, but we don’t have them! You can see them here. That’s going to be her new thing, her new album promotion. She’s going to walk around New York with her cats.

Anyway, about a week ago, Swifty did something nice for some select group of fans. She invited her fans into her home, she baked them cookies and let them hear her new album. According to E!, Swifty “said they were allowed to share anything from their experience at the event, with the exception of the song titles and lyrics.” So, obviously, the fans kept their word. The fans have only dished on some of the gossip Swifty served up, like what it was like to date Harry Styles. I’ll admit, this shiz made me laugh.

They only dated for a few months in 2012, but Taylor Swift and Harry Styles quickly became one of the most talked about celebrity couples. Now, with the “Shake It Off” singer releasing her first new album since the breakup, the exes’ relationship has made its way back into the spotlight.

Last weekend, Taylor invited a group of her fans to hang out at her Los Angeles home, where she fed them pizza and hosted a listening party of her upcoming record 1989, which isn’t due out until Oct. 27. During the super-exclusive event, the 24-year-old described the inspiration behind each song, and told attendees they could share details about anything from their experience except song titles and lyrics.

Well, while opening up to her biggest supporters, Taylor apparently spilled some details about what it was like dating the famous boybander. One attendee recalls, “She described it like trying to build a fire out of two twigs and everyone is yelling at the fire, “I hate your fire,” and blowing out the sparks.”

[From Star Magazine]

LMAO. Amazing metaphor, Swifty!! That’s such a middle-school way of describing it. But it’s also totally Swifty – she and Harry burned so brightly, you know. They were fiery and misunderstood but everyone hated their fire and tried to destroy their beautiful fire and that’s why they broke up. Except they really broke up because Swifty was playing games and Harry was over it so he dumped her while they were on vacation.

AHAHAHAHHAHAHA—That is a terrible metaphor. She must get so much help songwriting…

    • Tapioca says:

Well, quite – twenty-first century Oscar Wilde she ain’t!

Her last FOUR hit singles were actually all written by Max Martin & Shellback, God-like pop songwriters to the Backstreet Boys, N’Sync, Britney, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, etc… It’s kinda sad that she started off respected as quite a competent – if twee and samey-sounding – songwriter and now she’s just like EVERY other interchangeable pop tart making the same music, because it’s written by the same guys.

      • Jack says:

No! She wrote them and Max and Shellback produced and facilitated production. Same with Shake it Off! Not like some of the others, Taylor is also an executive producer and is credited as the main writer.

looking forward to a miniature/pocket book:
Fault in Our Stars: How to Break Up Swiftly and Stylishly (Or Maybe Not)

the new and revised edition comes with a foreword from Mr H Styles, and Ms T Swift having the last word.

  3. greenmonster says:

So they were a modern version of Romeo and Juliet? So young, so in love but everyone was against them… That saddens my heart. Deeply. I might just finish my day at work, go home, eat chocolate, listen to love songs and cry a bit about one of the biggest love stories of our time, that ended way to soon.

  4. Lex says:

She often looks so similar to the Kloss model she hangs out with

  5. Marianne says:

Im not sure how she’s “trying to look like its 1989, when that look happens to be popular right now.

    • Charlie says:

I think she looks great, as per ususal. She is a very beautiful girl. And PR or not, she treats her fans really well.

      • FLORC says:

Only when there’s pr around. Jut an example of how good her pr is. Also to keep her game playing guy issues under wraps.

      • Bread and Circuses says:

        @FLORC
Untrue. Swift does a lot of low-key hospital visits to kids that do not get publicized at all. She might be twee, but she is not self-serving the way some celebrities are.

  6. Tanguerita says:

I wonder, if Lainey’s latest blind is about Swifty, Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams….

    • MrsB says:

Ohh that actually might fit. I read it yesterday and couldn’t think of anybody, I’m always so bad at blinds ha. I hope it’s not them though, I love Ryan Adams and would lose so much respect for him if he’s hooking up with Swifty.

    • Tiffany27 says:

That’s a good guess! I knew it was Mandy and Ryan, but couldn’t figure out who the other girl was.

    • Marianne says:

I dont think its Swifty. I dont think either of their “first sounds” are alike. Taylor was country and Mandy started off being very bubblegum pop.

  7. Kiddo says:

This sounds like failure to achieve a Boy Scout Badge. If you can blow out sparks, you ain’t really got a fire.. just sayin’.

  8. aligoat says:

You can’t breakup if there was never a relationship. She is milking this stunt for all it’s worth.

  9. MrsB says:

Have to give her credit though for all she does for her fans. She makes it a priority to interact with them and it’s a big part of why she’s still around and so popular. She bugs me, but I’ll take her over the Grande girl any day.

    • Eleonor says:

While I do not like her music, I really appreciate how she behaves, with her fans (I agree Ariana Grande should take notes from Swifty) and with her life: I know there’s too much highschool drama going on, but If I had to choose to hangout with some pop-celebrity right now I’ll take Swifty.

    • Steph says:

This like everything Taylor does is a pure calculated PR move. She gathers them all together and states they can ask any question they have and they then go and feed the gossip to the media to keep Tay Tays name in the press, right before her lame album drops.

Can you tell I am fed up with PR tactics of artists who court the tweenie crowd..ha ha.

      • Charlie says:

Everything every celebrity does is partially for PR. We could also say what Emma Watson does is for PR.

      • Steph says:

Charlie,I agree, but I get irritated when in today’s entertainment world, a person is elevated to stardom by their PR and not their talent. I place Swift in the same category as Bieber,Selena and the Kardashians. I actually think Bieber has much more talent than Swift,he can at least dance. Swift’s music is not iconic but she makes millions of dollars. Great for Swifty but bad for the music industry. Just my opinion.

      • Charlie says:

Taylor writes ( or used to write) her own songs. To me, that makes her more talented than Bieber, Selena and the rest of the pop star .

      • Jack says:

Actually, the majority of her fans are in the 18 to 24 year old range and currently, more are males than you would believe. You can find this info on certain music statistics charts. Check Spotify statistics for “Shake it off’ for instance. And if you attribute her success to PR alone, then why are others not having the same success. This woman’s music is good.

  10. Tiffany27 says:

She’s still talking about her long first date with that CGI werewolf looking boy?

    • Kiddo says:

“Short and spark”?, she’s the Joni Mitchell of a new generation.

      • mimif says:

Well, you know two heads are better than one.

      • Kiddo says:

You had me stumped, I had to go look it up and I actually know that song.

      • mimif says:

Such a great song/album. I grew up with that album on repeat and a so help me lawd, if Swifty ever gets casts in a Joni Mitchell anything, I will shave my head and light myself on fire. I’m a Mimifist, that’s what we do. 😉

      • Kiddo says:

Anyone who has ever felt sorry for themselves (maybe justified) has a played a Joni Mitchell album now and then. You think Joni will write a meaningful song about two twigs snapping in honor of this transformative poetry of Taylor’s?

I am a mimifist too! When do we do crafts? I think maybe in the Duggar thread, lol.

      • mimif says:

Lol Kiddo, we can haze Le Hungover Kitten into bedazzling our sister wife outfits.

  11. littlemissnaughty says:

That relationship was so weird and gave off such a non-sexy vibe. How long did it even last? 2 months or something? That’s a fling, not a relationship. I’m still curious (more than I have any excuse to be, really … at 30 years old) if it was a PR stunt. Why is she still talking about it???

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Of course it was a PR stunt! And notice that this in many ways is the less sad option when the other is that she seriously is so junior high that she considers running around with some boy a handful of times over a period of ten weeks a “relationship.” And there’s nothing wrong with being 30 and interested….this Woman-Child will be 25 years old in two and a half months, remember?

      • littlemissnaughty says:

Oh Lord, no, I didn’t remember. Honestly. To me, she reads teenager.

I never really care if a celeb relationship is a PR stunt. The whole business seems so fake anyway. But those two … it was so strange. They were so obvious and yet, why would they? They certainly didn’t need it and in hindsight, it made them both look a bit crazy. It was 10 weeks? It seemed like a year but maybe that’s because there were so many pics.

  12. iskra says:

this girl annoys me in many ways but i have to admit she looks bloody fantastic.

  13. AlmondJoy says:

Gosh, reading stories about her just bums me out. She’s such a bore, lol… its always the same thing. What I DO enjoy, is looking at her. She has such great style! My body type is totally different (I’m more of a KimK type) so I could never get away with wearing the things she does. She looks amazing.

  14. Kara says:

    Her body is unbelievable, wow!

  15. TreadStyle says:

If you believe she meets with fans because she genuinely wants to then her PR team has succeeded. It’s strictly to maintain her persona and make her seem relatable. I interned at place and when she would come in her team would literally instruct that no one cross her path! (No other “famous” guest made any sort of request and there were some bigger then her!) The place would send out an email asking people not to use elevators and stay out of certain areas of the office (hallways, ect)! These were employees, not random people! No one would have approached her. These kind of stunts are what her career is built off of, fan interaction. People believe it whole heartedly!

    • Steph says:

One word….branding. It sounds like she is quite insulated according to the dancers that fled her tour for Perry’s tour.

  16. serena says:

    She has a crazy body.

  17. RobN says:

Can’t help it, I think it’s funny and probably pretty accurate. People were oddly over invested in that quick little relationship, and that probably includes TS, but there was a certain amount of over reaction by fans, and non fans, that must have felt pretty strange to be a part of.

  18. Syko says:

Again with the left hand on the almost-non-existent hip. I am so sick of her one pose, I want to slap her every time I see it. Which is every time her picture is taken.

  19. Veronica says:

JFC, she doesn’t want people to trivialize her love life, but can you really help it? They dated for – what? Three months?? How emotionally involved could you possibly be that you’re still talking about it years later?

Sometimes, I just shut my eyes and try to imagine what it must be like to amass so much wealth and social power and be so removed from reality that a minor breakup is the worst of my life problems.

  20. JRT says:

Taylor’s body is looking smoking hot lately.

  21. moon says:

I still think their whole romance was a publicity ploy. At least on his side.
