Blake Lively in Michael Kors at the Golden Heart Awards: lovely or bland?

FFN_GG_GoldenHeartAwards_101614_51560288

Blake Lively was really making us wait for red carpet photos of her baby bump, and here we go. Blake attended the Golden Heart Awards (for God’s Love We Deliver) in NYC last night. She posed her bump off! Ryan Reynolds was not there… or, should I say, there are no photos of him on the red carpet. Blake wore this full-length Michael Kors gown which… I sort of like, even though it looks like confetti-covered pantyhose. She looks feminine and pretty and happy. So, good for her.

At the event, Blake told Us Weekly that her pregnancy is a dream come true: “It’s something that I’ve always wanted ever since I was a little girl. I never knew what I wanted to do for a living but I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I had come from a big family, so it was always important to me. So it’s just the excitement of that finally being here.” She’s never known what she wanted to do for a living? Says the actress and Preserver. And baker. She also talked about Ryan a little, saying: “He’s always good to me. That’s like a jerky thing to say because you want to be able to complain about your husband and be that person, but he takes pretty good care of me.”

As for Preserve and Antebellum-gate, one good thing that’s happened is that more people are giving Preserve a more critical once-over. What had been seen as a silly but harmless side project is now being analyzed for content, plagiarism and just plain awful writing. Good. It’s about time. My suggestion to Blake: hire some real writers and some real website designers to make Preserve user-friendly. Plus, Blake’s purple prose needs to go.

I kind of like the dress.
Her new brand is turning out to be a disaster.

  2. Jem says:

Good Lord, Im already sick of her. I didnt even read the article.

  3. Kiddo says:

That dress is alluring and captivating, and as effortless as a fluttering butterfly gently sweeping the pasture for nectar.

  4. Seapharris7 says:

Honestly there’s no excuse for her website to be that bad. I’m not even talking about her idiotic ideas. Hire a real web designer, a writer or two, and have your PR check it over before you publicly post anything.

  5. Talie says:

I’m happy for Ryan. I know he really wanted a baby when he was with ScarJo — these two seem like they are a solid unit, although I don’t think the direction of his career has gone in the upward motion they both counted on.

  6. kri says:

My god. The answer is , was, and always will be bland. She is on the Jessica Alba Path. Blah, blah, blah…..

    • Grant says:

She’s way worse than Jessica Alba.

    • Alexis says:

Alba’s not annoying and her brand has a coherent idea that is also fashionable (organic and clean stuff for kids that isn’t bank breaking). Importantly, her brand is better thought out and sustainable because it’s not based on the idea that anyone wants to be like her. Kinda like Jessica simpson’s brand.

  7. original kay says:

I’ve never once wanted to complain about my husband and be “that person”.

quite the opposite, in fact. what a fooking idjit.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, that was a dumb comment, but I have been with groups of women who just want to bitch about their husbands and I felt sort of like they thought I was showing off or not coming clean because I really don’t have any serious complaints about my husband. But I agree with you that I never “wanted to be that person.” I just felt sort of self-conscious when surrounded by those kinds of people.

    • ShazBot says:

Yes!! WTF was that comment?? It is not jerky to say your husband treats you well…is this where the bar is set? For real? She’s dumb.

    • FLORC says:

Yes. Let’s attack every word the happy pregnant woman says. That way we don’t have to wish her or the baby well. In turn wish for the downfall of her career and new business. That should do it.

      She’s harmless. Truly harmless.

  8. Somenestolemyname says:

She’s a gorgeous woman. Simply stunning, wow.

    • Seapharris7 says:

      … Post surgery.

    • Ivy says:

Yes, but be sure to look up her old nose first…She’s always had a great figure I have to say.

    • Lauren says:

Yeah her nose job helped her a lot, but a nose and boob job don’t make an unattractive lady beautiful. Beauty is much more than that: it’s height, shape of the body, long limbs, good skin, hair, nice eyes, facial shape, etc.

  9. Jessica says:

“you want to be able to complain about your husband and be that person,”

Why? I’m confused. Don’t you want a husband who is good to you? Why do you want someone who you have to complain about?

    • FLORC says:

You’re reading it very literally. It’s more as a joke and as a married woman I did find it funny. her execution was off, but this joke is made by others and has had people here laughing.

  10. MrsBPitt says:

She looks gorgeous, but she can’t string two words together without me saying, WTF is she talking about.

  11. Lauren says:

“He’s always good to me. That’s like a jerky thing to say because you want to be able to complain about your husband and be that person, but he takes pretty good care of me.”

I don’t get it. What she says is not jerky at all. Why would you even want to be able to complain about your husband??

  12. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think she’s so pretty, but I’m still not past her insensitive remarks. Stupidity is not attractive.

    • Jaderu says:

I usually marvel and I am entertained by the goofy shit that she says but I find it interesting and disappointing that she’s getting a pass from some of the press. I know. I know it’s the knee pad press (Us Weekly). But still.

    • Jegede says:

Agreed on all your points and she looks radiant.

  13. Lea says:

    She looks glowing IMO

  14. Dolce crema says:

She looks perfect, I don’t usually like MK but pregnancy calls for styles that are less exciting I guess

  15. Erinn says:

I don’t understand how it’s not user friendly. Honest question – I work in web design. It’s got is nav across the top that is pretty freaking clear – on the homepage there is a sort of blog roll of her stories with a ‘shop the story’ to the left of each one. What isn’t user friendly?

Maybe the wreck of things that some of our clients request have skewed my perception of what is user friendly but still. I’ve never had an issue navigating her site.

And all of the talk of ‘hire a REAL web designer’ as opposed to what? A fake web designer? A click and drag template site? This isn’t some cheaply done website here. It’s not like they just got a wix site. This is a customized site – someone coded all of this after someone(or that same person) made up the design blueprint. She probably had a lot of input – but EVERY client does. You wouldn’t believe the ridiculousness that is requested from our company on a daily basis.

I’m giving her a break on the design – half of the complaints seem to be about the black background. I won’t give her a break on the antebellum shit though.

  16. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Her site is a hot mess. The writing is ridiculous. I go on it and sit there GIGGLING, because it is so freaking pretentious. And I’m really confused with the whole focus of the site. Is she just trying to sell stuff?

  17. Jayna says:

She looks beautiful. I love the dress. One of the best pregnant looks I’ve ever seen by a celeb. And she looks very pretty with her soft hair and makeup.

  18. LadyJane says:

Posing tip, when you no long have a waist, the double tea pot (both hands on hips) isn’t such a good look.

  19. SofiaS says:

She looks amazing and happy! Good for her.

  20. Lee says:

    She looks smug

    • Charlotte says:

She’s pregnant for the first time with a baby she’s been waiting for – let her be smug. My goodness.

  21. Abbicci says:

    What. no hoop skirt?

  22. Luciana says:

She looks amazing. That’s all I got.

  23. BlueeJay says:

This is going to be one long pregnancy with her trying to show her baby bump at every opportunity. But then how else does one stay in the “news” with no career? I have never heard of this event – how desperate is she to show off what she can to be noticed?

    • Lee says:

      + 1
She claimed to be so private and then, once she launched her blog – which is a failure – she suddenly started sharing and gave the pregnancy news through her website to be sure people hit it and grant it publicity. She’s so fake…I can’t help but rolling my eyes everytime she says she’s shy, she doesn’t have a stylist, she wanted kids since she was a little girl and she has always been a mama because she used to hold her friends’ kids on her hip…please, give us a break!!

    • Jegede says:

She recently finished filming a movie.

Has extensive contracts with L’Oreal and Gucci and still gets prestigious covers. Odds are she’s perfectly fine

I doubt she’ll be struggling on the breadline any time soon – no matter how many times some insist she’s a nobody who has ‘no career’

    • LadyJane says:

She could always just shag ben affleck again

      • Lee says:

        Lol!
        @Jegede

Yeo, her first movie in 2 years and she was not the first choice, Heigl dropped out and they chose Blake. It will open next year and before stating she won’t be sturggling on the breadline I’d wait to see how this movie does at the box office…!

  24. anna says:

Blake is just a case for looks trumphing talent or basic human kindness

    • Dolce crema says:

Though I’m a fan and like her look, there are many women more beautiful.
One of the reasons she is famous, (bedsides family connections and being a charming actress of not an outstanding one) is that she was nice to a lot of people, the right people. I guess that’s not exactly human kindness, but your statement makes no sense to me.

  25. Hissyfit says:

She’s very pretty but that dress is a NO.

  26. Cupcake says:

I actually really like the dress. She really needs to learn how to have some tact if she wants to be a lifestyle goddess like Martha. It probably doesn’t matter, she doesn’t have the chops. She always comes across as so inexperienced. Why would anyone follow lifestyle advice from someone who doesn’t seem to be an expert at anything? She needs to hire new people or give up.
