Octomom says she is paying for her own home, getting off food stamps

Octomom Nadya Suleman has a new video blog up on Radaronline. MSNBC’s the Scoop had some advance details, claiming that Suleman’s kids were punching and biting her, and I wanted to wait until the video was available until reporting this. It really wasn’t that bad. It shows her autistic son, Aidan, trying to get her attention by squeezing her neck, holding her hair, and trying to bug her. She handled it well and soothed her son. The more videos I see of this woman the more human she seems. I still don’t like her, but I’m not as outraged as I first was when she hit the scene.

Proud to be paying for own home, getting off food stamps
Nadya told Radar that she’s getting a new home, a 2,8000 square foot house with four bedrooms. She was proud of the fact that she paid for it herself, likely with all the easy money she’s getting from interviews and photo licensing. She also talked about the “welfare” issue, saying that it was technically true when she claimed she doesn’t get welfare because food stamps aren’t considered welfare. She also seemed proud that she’s about to get off of food stamps and all government assistance, something that may not have been possible for her if she just didn’t have a record-setting number of babies. The home where Nadya was living with her mother is set to go up for auction on Thursday due to ten months of missed mortgage payments.

Calls it a “lie” that she turned down free nursing care for want of a reality show
Despite the way she seems to court the press, in yesterday’s video blog Nadya said it’s a “lie” that she turned down free 24 hour nursing care because she was hoping for a reality show. She said it was more about the fact that she would have had to bring her children to a different area and climate to take advantage of the services and that she considered it but didn’t want to uproot her family. She is instead working with volunteers at her children’s school, and said that the other mothers there understand her situation. Nadya kind of shows her slippery side when talking about the reality show, saying on one hand that it’s “exploitation,” but on the other that she wouldn’t rule out some kind of “documentary-style” show. I bet that documentary involves a high six figure amount.

Fears “feeling like a failure as a mother”
Radar also has scanned pages from Nadya’s diary, in which her thoughts are scrawled on yellow legal pads. It includes such revelations as “I fear feeling like a failure as a mother; that my choice to have another child, after 6 already, was a sign of poor judgement. Maybe I never should have made that decision in the first place. Nevertheless, I know how much I love my kids I would never intentionally do anything to hurt them. Did my choice to have another (let alone another 8!) hurt them in ways I will never understand? Am I a failure as a mom?”

Note that she doesn’t call herself a failure, just that she’s questioning it. This was written after her interview with Dr. Phil and it sounds more like she’s trying to ingratiate herself to the public based on their negative perception of her than experiencing a smidgen of self awareness. In Nadya’s world, everything is fine and her behavior is always justified.

Cops were called to her home 8 times in the past year, has former CPS investigation
TMZ has details about a former complaint against Nadya by a neighbor to Child Protective Services last summer. The neighbor claimed that the kids were not clean or fed, and the case was closed as “unfounded.” The cops were also called to her home eight times in the past year.

Nadya told Radar she’s not afraid of losing any of her children as she’s doing what she needs to do and working with the agencies. She’s probably right. She loves her kids and is providing for them in her own warped way in which everything is always ok and she just doesn’t understand why she can’t have as many as she wants.

Nadya is shown out with her spokesperson on 3/2/09. She went to a local car shop to have her windows tinted while a nanny watched her children. Credit: Fame

    shes a proven liar

  2. Tony says:

Poster child for the Democratic party. Stupidity + wasting tax dollars + self delusion (of grandeur) + welfare poster child = Good Democrat

  3. Trillion says:

Tony: Absolutely idiotic statement. Go back to little green footballs or whatever for that crap.

  4. Holly says:

Take your inane Republibabble elsewhere Tony that’s not what this is about.

I agree that her “diary” is just her trying to ingratiate herself to the public.

  5. ROM says:

This is moronic. With all the attention she’s getting, not to mention the cash, I’ll bet a few more breeding machines on gov’t assistance are freezing their eggs and trying to out do this imbecile. The US can’t have a competent health care system for their tax paying citizens but they can support people like the Octomom

  6. Orangejulius says:

The cops were called 8 TIMES? What’s up with that? Were those all calls by neighbors because the kids were not clean or fed? With this much publicity and scrutiny, presumably CPS will step in if there is even one more call. Let’s hope.

  7. lrm says:

slight tangent, but the windows being tinted made me question: How is she going to transport all of these children, ever? As it stands, she plus the first 6 fill a mini-van. Guess she’ll need to rent a school bus,or a 15 passenger van.

  8. Justalark says:

Most parents would be absolutely mortified if the cops came to their house eight times in a one-year period and CPS also showed up due to a concerned neighbor’s complaint.

This mother of six, who does not seem to mind that her life is out of control and her children run wild, decides to pay thousands of dollars to become pregnant again. Then she decides “why not implant all six (8?) embryos that are available?”

    CRAZY IS AS CRAZY DOES!!!!!

  9. Chiara says:

I’m not interested in Ms Suleman’s, “spin of the day.”

I am interested in whether or not the 1 Million + hospital bill will be paid, and if she is still receiving disability payments for three of her children.

  10. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

Tony: you? Are a complete idiot.

I’m a lifelong Democrat and so is my husband. We live in Texas. We have ONE child and we have never ever once accepted any sort of government help to raise our child, pay our bills, or ANYTHING. I have a master’s degree, he is an Army vet (12 years active duty) who is now making a good living in sales. Has been for many years. We own our own home and have for 12+ years. We take care of his elderly grandmother, paying HER bills, and when my brother was out of work for a while, we bought Christmas gifts for his kids and helped him pay his bills.

I say all this not because I have anything to prove to a mouth-breather such as yourself, but to cause you to step back and re-examine your stereotypes. If you have three brain cells to rub together, you might realize that your stereotypes are VERY off the mark.

And for all we know, she’s a Republican. Then wouldn’t you feel stupid? 🙂 Have a nice day, Mr. Narrow Minded.

Oh and congratulations, no one yet has brought up political affiliation when it comes to Octomom, you are the first.

As for Octomom, I find that “diary” highly questionable. It’s sickening that you can just have tons of kids and get paid in media engagements, etc. We need to turn off the tap on this BS. How about being responsible IN THE FIRST PLACE?

  11. Rreedy says:

    Tony, you right!!!!

  12. mel says:

If she gets off public assistance who will pay for her medical bills for the kiddies. She cant totally get off public assistance for they may have special needs which she may not know until they get older.

  13. Jane Marsee says:

People, America is still the ‘Land of Opportunity’. This is Free Enterprise in action.

First: Work a year and a half—then file for Worker’s Compensation. (Who started the fight any way?)
Second: Milk the system for all it’s worth, so far $167k in Workers Comp plus SSI and Food Stamps
Third: Have babies, get on welfare and SSI—that’s over $3k per month—tax free.
Fourth: Use up all of parents assets. Let them lose their home—as long as they keep paying for mine—who cares.
Sixth: Use disabled babies’ money to get plastic surgery for face and lips—got to look good on camera.
Seventh: Create deal with shady IVF doc. Cut him in on the ‘big money’ for a a reality show. He’s earned it.
Eighth: Pawn babies out for highest price—it’s all about the money, honey!

I can think of a lot of adjectives to describe Nayda Suleman, but not one of them would be ‘dumb’.

  14. D. H. says:

I guess that she is going to pay for her hospital bill and not the taxpayers, right? I mean if she is purchasing her own house and feeling so proud of it ( with handouts from people and interviews exploiting her situation) then I guess we are going to have to foot that bill too.

  15. charlie says:

I wish her and her reporductive system would just go away..

  16. nanster says:

“Oh and congratulations, no one yet has brought up political affiliation when it comes to Octomom, you are the first.”

Anastasiabea, you are right on the mark! Thanks for saying what I was thinking. Only a “mouthbreather” (as you put it) would attribute the Octomom and her doings to a particular political party.

  17. Annie says:

    Agreed anastasiabea. 100%.

But, I’ve always found that idiots like Tony tend to suffer from severe diarrhea of the mouth.

With that said, I don’t believe for one bit that anything that woman rights is true. I think she’s just taking our reactions to it, and gauging what would be the best coverup for her selfishness.

  18. Annie says:

writes* damn you lack of editting feature.

  19. texasmom says:

I’m another democrat living in Texas and get lots of ribbing from my republican neighbors. But man! After Ike, everyone advised me to “get everything you can” from FEMA and some even gave me detailed instructions on how to commit insurance fraud. Uh, I have homeowner’s insurance that covered everything (about $70k). It’s a business deal, I paid for a service and received it as per my contract. No need to bilk the government (or anyone else). It also turned out that I, the single mom of two, was the only person on my very-badly damaged block solvent enough to pay my deductible instantly, out of pocket. So I don’t know how my ‘publicans neighbors can keep a straight face when they talk about “personal responsibility.” Just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t make them a mooch, irresponsible, or even a bolshevik.

  20. caribassett says:

Umm WHAT! Tony srsly is it hard being a troll?

  21. Nudgie says:

At least Nadia didn’t send over 3000+ Americans to die overseas, like some REPUBLICAN did…

  22. Yae says:

Good gawd. I can’t collect the $70,000 in back child support from my first husband for the son he abandoned. (my ONLY child) and this litter spewing piggy gets whatever she wants. Really……..the world gets so ridiculous and nauseous by the hour.

  23. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

Yae, you said it. It disgusts me. My husband and I had ONE child. Costs less, less impact on the environment than a bunch of kids. But being responsible doesn’t get you the sweet media deal. Being irresponsible does.

    Crazy, isn’t it?

  24. tulip says:

Shop, pick up welfare check, smile for camera, shop, beg for donations, get disibility check. Shop, shop, pick up welfare check, smile for camera. Get disibility check, go to disneyland.Find a new babysitter, shop.

  25. christi says:

Who is paying for all of the medical bills accumulated by this woman living in a fantasy world where you don’t have to be responsible for the actions that you take??? My husband and I struggled to pay for the normal 2 day hospital stay of our daughter when she was born 13 yrs ago (without insurance or welfare) The cost of caring for 1 child in a “neonate” ICU is staggering – not to mention emotional draining!!! I would like to see the total cost to the taxpayers to date for the survival of these precious little babies!! Better yet – the crazy fertility doctor who implanted the embryos should be held legally responsible for expenses incurred by the hospital that had to deliver and care for the “neonates”!!

  26. Kat says:

Come on people enough is enough!!! Smashing out her car window is taking things a little far!!! Now you are just hurting her kids. Leave the women alone she says she is no longer on food stamps or any aid!! I personally think you are all being a bunch of babies!!!Get over it and grow up!!!!!!!!!!
