Amanda Seyfried: I ‘almost’ lost out on roles because I was ‘overweight’

Amanda Seyfried

I can always count on Amanda Seyfried for some good coat pr0n. Amanda’s been pretty low key lately. She’s been filming Ted 2 with Mark Wahlberg and hasn’t promoted anything else lately. Is she still dating Justin Long? Who knows.

Amanda took to Twitter to talk about her career and the pressure for Hollywood actresses to be stick thin. She previously said she’d never lose weight for a role because she’s “too health-conscious.” That makes sense. I worry about actors like Christian Bale and how losing an extreme amount of weight for roles will affect their future health. Amanda goes a step further and says she “almost lost” roles because she was considered too fat. She didn’t really lose the roles though?

I don’t doubt that Amanda dealt with some casting agents who suggested she drop a few pounds. She clearly never needed to lose weight, but Hollywood’s mirror is pretty warped when it comes to weight obsession. The weird thing is that Amanda didn’t lose those roles, or so she says. There’s more to this story, and 140 Twitter characters doesn’t cover it.

We hardly ever cover Amanda, so I had to include some new photos of my boyfriend, Finn the dog. Don’t mind the kissing Wahlberg in this photo.

Her instagram is mostly Finn. Best IG to water your time on. That dog is adorable.

  2. Jesssayin says:

All I could stare at was that hair. IT IS EVERYTHING.

    • Erinn says:

I want her hair and her jacket. I have so much blonde jealousy haha, but I would look mega washed out I think. I convinced myself last time I was on cold meds that it’d be a totally good idea to go blonde. Thank god I did not book an appointment or buy at home kits.

    • Size Does Matter says:

Totally agree. Her hair is glorious.

    • Gine says:

I’m SO jealous of that hair. It always looks amazing.

    • Juliette says:

I think her hair is totally natural too, even more unfair. That’s why it sometimes looks a bit “ashy” – natural blondes don’t usually stay platinum blonde forever.

    • Mean Hannah says:

I thought you – and the others who replied after you – were talking about the dog’s hair. I was nodding along until I realized that you all were talking about HER hair. Oh well. She has nice hair, too. In addition to having naturally thick blonde hair, I think she doesn’t do much to it, especially when not working, and that helps to keep it healthy.

  3. Charlie says:

But didn’t she lose weight? I think she was heavier in Mean Girls than she is now.
She is breathtakingly gorgeous either way.

FINN! more Finn I need a Finn Beat Reporter

  5. lucy2 says:

    I love her dog.
I think no matter how thin an actress gets, there is always someone telling them to lose weight. It’s horrible.

  6. word says:

So she still got the roles though right? She said she “almost lost out” so they ended up hiring her and were ok with her weight or she lost weight for the roles. This girl never needed to lose a pound. Even for Hollywood standards she was far from overweight. Also, why can’t Hollywood start representing how the REAL world looks anyways? Lots of shapes, colors, heights, ages.

The day someone thinks Amanda Seyfried is too big, is the day they need to be b!tch-slapped with a folding chair.

And Finn the Dog is my celebrity crush. Lurve.

  8. lunchcoma says:

Amanda has a cute dog and does well on Instagram, but she isn’t very smart. She should try to do as few interviews as possible and stick to the social media stuff.

  9. Gine says:

Very jealous of her adorable doggie and her hair. Not at all jealous that she had to kiss Wahlberg, blecch.

  10. serena says:

    Her dog is seriously handsome!

  11. Gillian1 says:

It’s fairly horrific that a small-boned girl like Amanda was still subjected to pressure to lose more weight.

  12. Luciana says:

She has lost a lot of weight in the last years. Watch Veronica Mars first season and recent pictures and it’s noticeable the weight loss. She was by NO means fat or overweight but somehow she felt the pressure to be thinner.

Anyway, everytime I see her and I get a major hair envy.

  13. Anony says:

Soooo I’ve never seen a picture of her where she looked anything but thin. If she was once considered “overweight” good grief WHAT AM I?!?!?!?!?!?!??! A LAND WHALE?!?!?!?!?!

    • Kimberly says:

LOL…….BUT Hollywood’s standards was always ridiculous.

I’m a size 4 and 5’7 in height so I guess I might be considered a land whale lol!!

  14. Brionne says:

Eww no bueno @ marky Mark’s stubby little arms and hands

  15. Jessica says:

She used to be considerably bigger. Not fat of course, but not thin either, just in-between.

I’m about the size and shape she was when she was on Veronica Mars, and I am a touch overweight. Not a lot, and I’m not really worried about it, but it’s a fact.

  16. PJ says:

Here’s what I don’t get about the very weird re-casting for Ted 2: Marky Mark’s (sorry, I grew up in the very New Kids/Walberg-centric Boston in the 80’s and 90’s) character married Mila Kunis’s at the end of the first one right? And the whole 2nd half of the movie was essentially about him trying to save his relationship with her. So, are we now all supposed to believe/not notice that that central character’s suddenly a younger, taller blue eyed blonde?? So lost with this one…
