Duchess Kate wore all-black Seraphine Maternity for a cocktail party, obviously

130126PCN_DuchessDuke12

I’ve only just checked out the British Consulate’s Twitter feed, which is full of interesting photos of Prince William and Duchess Kate’s NYC trip – go here to see the Twitter feed. Anyway, after Will and Kate visited the 9/11 Memorial yesterday, mid-day, they went to a musical and dance performance of the CityKids Foundation. Kate was still wearing the pink Mulberry coat for that. Then I guess she got a chance to change into this black dress when she and William attended the Creativity is GREAT reception, because obviously in Kate’s mind, she has to counter-program her colors for every occasion. Somber visit to a memorial where thousands of people died? Wear hot pink, obviously. A happy occasion where everyone is drinking and celebrating? Wear all-black, totally.

Kate’s black dress in these photos is the “Vanessa” dress by Seraphine Maternity. It’s a knit dress and it only costs $99. So good for her, I suppose. So budget-conscious (ha). I’m also happy to see that her $78,000 Cartier necklace has finally gotten another outing. Do you remember this? The first time we saw this necklace was back in the summer of 2012, just ahead of the London Olympics. Kate made a “royal duty” to the National Portrait Gallery and she was criticized for wearing such a pricy bauble. I never mind interesting jewelry p0rn, so my only criticism was that it looked like Kate was showing off her Olympic medal in Waitying.

The Creativity is GREAT reception included lots of Brits, Brits-with-American-spouses and assorted New Yorkers. The two most exciting people – in my opinion! – were Archie Panjabi and Sir Patrick Stewart. Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman, Jenna Lyons (the J.Crew director) and more were also at the reception. This is food that was served: “mini Yorkshire puddings with roast beef, Scotch egg bites, and pea soup shooters, and drinks including cider, beer and wine.” EW. I bet everyone was really farty after the reception.

Did she bring only one pair of shoes to wear?

  2. Sixer says:

Scotch eggs are evil. Jus’ sayin’.

    • LadySlippers says:

But Yorkshire Pudding is heaven… So it all balances out. 😉

    • Sixer says:

I give good Yorkshire pudding, you know. Mr Sixer loves Scotch eggs and buys two for himself every week when the farmers market comes to the village hall. They are the size of fists, I kid you not. There’s not much food I dislike, but Scotch eggs are the spawn of the devil. Ugh. Also: I really hate it when posh receptions reduce traditional dishes to ridiculous canapes. Pea soup shots. GAH. I suppose Kate couldn’t manage the calorie count of a PROPER BOWLFUL.

      • lirko says:

So what are scotch eggs, exactly? Of course I could just Google it, but I’d prefer the insights of a true Brit 🙂

    • LadySlippers says:

      •Sixer•

Scotch eggs look weird. Not saying they taste weird or that Americans don’t have our own weird food… But eggs the size of fists? Dayum! Lol. Glad the Mister of the House can get his egg fix without upsetting the Misses. 😉

Yorkshire Pudding is my absolute favourite food. And I haven’t had it in years *sob*. So no teasing me like that.

Soup shots? Lame! Lol. And funny. But then I’m a far cry from ‘posh’. (A side note: my kids have incorporated ‘posh’ into their lingo. *gasp* Keep your Brit lingo on YOUR side of the pond. *eyes narrow slightly*)

I Love meals that come in “shooter” form. Or a single spoon.
It’s got every flavor right there so you get the full taste experience in 1 mouthful. As opposed to some flavors lost or deluded in a full dish.

    • Sixer says:

Well, the eggs are just eggs. It’s the wrap of sausagemeat that turns them huge. Honestly: they are the arse end of food.

I shall set you a task: make Yorkshire pudding by the end of the week. It’s only a bit of batter and a hot oven.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Sixer•

Rumour has it you need a pan that retains heat well (like cast iron)…. I don’t. 😢

      • Sixer says:

Nah. Any decent roasting pan will do. I make little ones and use a muffin pan.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Sixer•

Any recipe that you prefer? And the last time I had Yorkshire Pudding they were in muffin tins but I grew up with them cooked in brownie pans! Lol

      • LAK says:

Lady slippers: my american cousins tell me that Yorkshire puddings have the same recipe as pop overs. Otherwise, look up Delia smith. Grand dame of british cooking. She should have a simple, unembellished recipe for you.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •LAK•

I like popovers but I don’t think they taste the same as Yorkshire Pudding (similar but not the same).

I’ll check out her recipe. And Thank You! 😊

      • Sixer says:

I agree with LAK – follow Delia!

      • taxi says:

Yorkshire pudding is cooked in meat drippings for the distinctive flavor. Otherwise, it’s just a popover.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •taxi•

The different pans (IMO) used to bake each also change the flavour.

      • Petrichor says:

I’m going to belatedly give my 2 cents here, just because I made Yorkshire pudding last weekend, and it was the best I’d ever made.

I use the Joy of Cooking recipe. They suggest using a 9×13 roasting pan, but every time I’ve tried that I’m not happy with how it rises (it doesn’t). This time I used a muffin tin, which is how my mom always does it, and they were beautiful. I use butter as my fat, though, because I like to put the pan drippings in my gravy. Also, somewhat counterintuitivly, the less batter you put in each tin, the higher the pudding will rise. So for mine, I spread the batter across the whole 12 tins.

        Okay, now I’m really hungry!🍴🍷

    • Megan says:

Ok, I’ll own it. I love Scotch eggs.

  3. MelissaManifesto says:

Kate rarely wears something that I like but I love this look on her. How far along is she? She barely looks pregnant, I don’t think I would notice at all if I didn’t already know. Good for her.

    • notasugarhere says:

Are you honestly praising her for being underweight while pregnant? To you a woman who shows more at 5 months is somehow doing a bad job of carrying and nurturing a fetus?

      • Melissamanifesto says:

Where did I say that? I precisely asked how far along she was because I don’t know. She could be 10 weeks pregnant for all I know. Do not put words in my mouth concerning the weight of other pregnant women, my question was about Kate only.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •MelissaManifesto•

She had to disclose very early in the pregnancy (8 Sept) and we’ve known within a week (or so) how far along she is. Plus, it was announced she’s due in April so that alone puts her farther than just 10 weeks.

    • LadySlippers says:

      •MelissaManifesto•

She looks bumpier in videos. It’s actually adorable. ☺️

      • bettyrose says:

LadySlippers – I took one look at these pictures and repeated the mantra “I will not joke that Kate isn’t really pregnant . . .” until I got the urge under control. 😉

      • LadySlippers says:

        •bettyrose•

        You are SO naughty! Lol

  4. Izzy says:

    That necklace cost 78 grand?

    • My eye is twitching, Izzy. It makes me stabby.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I agree. Why? I don’t mind it, but i will never understand why it was so expensive. It’s a gold chain with some circles on it. What a waste of money.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •GoodNames•

IIRC there are small diamonds (chips really) in the three circles to make it sparkle. Someone (bluhare???) said this necklace is actually very striking in person and it just photographs very poorly. I’ll take their word for it.

    • Jamie says:

I thought the same thing. It looks a lot like that ‘cock ring’ necklace prop Jen Aniston was talking about lately. Actually… I think I like that necklace more. And it probably cost 1/20th of the price.

  5. PHD Gossip says:

No Biscuit Photos = Successful trip!

    • Ktea says:

Not only that, but she actually managed to have her hair pulled back from her face for most of the events.

  6. Her smiles are always so weird and creepy. Like insincere and something else….I don’t know if that’s how she normally smiles ALL THE TIME (and not just since she became Duchess Waity), but it’s off. It’s one of those smiles that my mom gives to people that she doesn’t like.

And ugh–I’ll say it AGAIN. If I was married to Prince Harry (let’s face it, Wills and I would be in trouble after I would call him a lazy SOB–seriously, ask my twin brother, I said it to him all the time when he wouldn’t clean the bathroom on his turn), I would have my nose so far up the Queen’s butt, that she would have a permanent cushion every time she sat down. Because ALL. OF. THAT. JEWELRY. OMFG.

And if I had access to that much jewelry, I’d sleep in it. I’d be like “Harry, if you break this necklace, you’re sleeping on the couch!”…and I would mean it. Plus, it would be nice to get “You look gorgeous today, Virgilia” jewelry…on a tuesday…that isn’t my birthday/any holiday.

    • GiGi says:

Lol! I hear you! You know who the big jewelry lover is? Charles. He adores the bling. Kate should be laying it on thick with HIM!

    • LadySlippers says:

      •VG•

Unflattering pics by the British press are a small dig at William. Pay attention to the % of flattering vs unflattering because it’s interesting to watch unfold…(they probably have tons of flattering pics and choose the unflattering ones on purpose)

    • RedWeatherTiger says:

The smiles…I’m sure the photographers catch her at all sorts of unflattering angles, but I agree that her expressions seem off. She always seems to be slightly more exaggerated than everyone else in the picture, as if she is working really hard to appear engaged.

      • Sister Carrie says:

@RedWeatherTiger . . . I completely agree. She’s trying SO HARD to be engaged and it comes off as creepily disengaged. It could be that she’s actually terrified of small talk and thus overworks it, or maybe shejust a maniacal grinner.

      • Esmom says:

That’s my impression, too, that engaging in conversation doesn’t come naturally to her and that she has to work really hard at appearing interested. I’m sure I’ll be slammed for this but I get the vibe that she’s slightly dim, I just can’t imagine her discussing anything of substance.

      • HH says:

@Esmom – Well, her Uncle Gary shed light in an interview a while back stating that while things came naturally to Pippa, Kate had to work really hard at everything. I assume conversation is one of those areas, particularly because it’s been reported that she’s shy (at least in the past, not sure if that’s still the case). I also think that Kate is a perfectionist which probably hinders her from appearing “natural” at anything. I don’t think she simply wants to do well, but she wants to do it perfectly.

    • susie says:

      she really does look psychotic…

      • Anne says:

She does. When I see her make that face, I hear her thinking “I’m FAMOUS, oh my god, I”M FAMOUS” and laughing manically. Reliably, it creeps me out.

  7. Beth says:

    Pea soup is vile.

    • anne_000 says:

Anderson’s Pea Soup (from California) is better than anything out there, especially with a little bit of lemon juice dripped in, but not stirred.

  8. LadySlippers says:

I think she looks fantastic in this knit dress. My guess is this is what she wore underneath her bright pink coat.

I’m totally jealous they had Yorkshire Pudding.

    *tummy grumbles*

    • Christina says:

      +1!

    • notasugarhere says:

She didn’t wear this under the pink dress, otherwise we would have seen the turtleneck. She went back to the hotel after the Memorial and changed. In the photos that show her coat blowing aside slightly, you can see she wore the same black mini dress at the Memorial that she had worn the day before with the kids.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •notasugarhere•

My thought process was the Burberry coat had a high enough collar to hide the turtleneck. And it was the same hose/shoes combination as the knit dress (which isn’t saying much! Lol). Have any pics that give us a peek of the dress? Thank ya kindly. 😊

      • bluhare says:

But the point is she was in head to toe black yesterday with the exception of the coat.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •bluhare•

It’s starting to appear that black is her go-to colour of choice. The DM talked about her LDD (little dark dresses) but they are missing a lot of black dresses. It was an interesting fluff piece but made me think…

  9. Mindy says:

Kate looked nice for that reception…. BUT, you really should have posted a better photo of Sir Patrick Stewart. He looked SNAZZY. Just saying.

  10. Jegede says:

    She looks nice

  11. vylette says:

    Boring as usual.

  12. Brittney B says:

What is with the woman wearing that glittery monstrosity over a long-sleeved collared shirt?!? Is she a performer, or was the dress code Tacky for the creativity theme?

    • Karen says:

I think that’s the lady who is the head of j.crew. explains a lot of the collar plus sequins.

    • Jackson says:

I was wondering the same thing. Who is that and why is she dressed like that??

    • notasugarhere says:

Look uncomfortable being touched by an NBA player. Check. Get touchy-feely and grab/hug the waist of the lady who runs J. Crew. Check. Freebies anyone?

      • bluhare says:

        Sweat anyone else?

      • Haha, I thought it was the J.Crew lady too–the one who divorced her husband, got with a woman, has a kid, and wears giant ugly glasses. I have no clue what her name is, but I KNOW her.

      • notasugarhere says:

VC, in the article Kaiser said it was the J. Crew director.

      • The Original Mia says:

She really was happy to see that lady. In other pictures, Kate flung her arm out and nearly took out Sir Patrick. Kinda surprised me until I read who it was. Then it was…oh, she definitely got some freebies!

J.Crew’s twitter posted she was wearing their skinny jeans at the basketball game. I’m sure we will see Kate, Ma Midds, and Pippa sporting plenty of J.Crew in the near future.

      • Anastasia says:

I believe that’s the lady’s hand on her own waist, not Kate’s hand.

      • notasugarhere says:

Thank you Anastasia 🙂 That makes a lot more sense and is far less creepy.

      • Esmom says:

I had to do a double take because I thought Kate was grabbing her at first too but upon second look it appears the J Crew lady is holding herself.

      • Bucky says:

That’s not Kate’s hand on Jenna’s waist, it’s Jenna’s own hand. She has her arm wrapped across her body.

    • Vava says:

That’s Jenna Lyons. Her sequin top costs $1200.

Kate is telling her how much she loved her black J Crew toothpick jeans that she wore the day before.

    • Jen says:

That sequin fringe top over the striped shirt is so odd! I don’t understand what’s happening with that outfit.

  13. Kiki04 says:

I’m just glad those two are gone.

  14. Karen says:

$78k for a necklace that looks like a c*ck ring? Um ok, if you say so. Jewelry p0rn is right.

    • someonestolemyname says:

I like the dress, it suits her, looks adequate. Hair back, nice.

Horrible circle necklace, don’t like it, looks tacky and cheap.

The emerald bling she wore for the next event was lovely.

    • Holly says:

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like Jennifer Aniston’s cock ring necklace from Horrible Bosses 2, lol.

    • Pippa Mids says:

Senseless fake Waity again. And how appropriate (not) with her colour (sic). Never get it right. Like some others have commented – P Wills need to pick up the phone and call Jecca asap!

P Willnot and Waity direct private chat, Waity always have this somber turn distress look – as if Wills reminding her , ‘to enjoy, her countfown has began”. he is the royal (she has the look of the wind knock out of her sail!)

Doolittle and her very phoney facials, if she would work as hard with her country needy and charities- like the ‘kiss kiss’ she does to these elite (and desigers J Crew to get gifts-always a middleton climber!)

If cannot woud make the same weekly efforts, all charities and tax payers would get value and HM GB for funding her renovations waste, vacations and shopping sprees.

P Georgie may be seeing the pictures and continue on with mommy nanny Maria.

    • Mira says:

Ah, nothing like reading “c*ck ring” before noon!

      • Olenna says:

        Ha! Or even afternoon!

IMO, she rarely gets the jewelry right either because of her hair style, her inability to accessorize, or her taste in jewelry, period.

  15. Vava says:

After her disgraceful behavior at the WTC, I guess this is an improvement. At least she’s not laughing at mangled steel beams.

    • notasugarhere says:

Yes, interesting how those photos are only getting play on blogs and forums, not mainstream. That and the goofy eye / grinning photo at the Memorial as well.

    • LadySlippers says:

Apparently both William and Kate were very moved by the memorial — Kate especially so.

      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/kate-middleton/11283084/Duke-and-Duchess-of-Cambridge-visit-911-memorial-site.html

      • wolfpup says:

LadySlippers, I went to see the video. Did you see the man standing next to her say something like, “times up”? – because they *immediately* stopped the posturing for photos, and moved on.

    • The Original Mia says:

I want to know what was so funny about that beam. Like seriously? Looking at that beam, what could possibly reduce 3 grown a$$ women to laughter? Made me sick seeing that photo. And yes…it really is odd that the mainstream media aren’t showing that particular pic. Doubt everyone would be praising the Duchess for her poise and class.

      • Vava says:

        exactly.

      • megan says:

I suspect they were laughing at something funny someone said. Have you never been somewhere sad and somber and someone tries to lighten the mood by saying something funny?

      • Vava says:

Megan, there is no reason to ‘lighten the mood’ there. It is the scene of a mass murder and it’s a gravesite. The memories of this horrific event are raw to a lot of people, I for one, intend to write to Queen Elizabeth about it.

The others laughing are just as inappropriate as the Duchess. WTC is sacred ground and if people can’t show some respect, then they should just stay away. I’m sick of people making excuses for poor behavior.

      • wolfpup says:

Megan – I think that it would be difficult to turn the waterworks off and on, for the cameras. Were *any* of them actually feeling anything other than, I’m cold…five more minutes of this…I’m tired of being nice…or OMG, I wore the wrong color.

      • Megan says:

The 9/11 memorials are about celebrating the lives of those who were lost, not endlessly grieving their passing.

      • notasugarhere says:

Megan, if nothing else I hope this discussion has shown all of us that the 9/11 Memorials are very different things to different people. Each of us gets to decide for ourselves what that site means to us and what emotions are appropriate for us.

  16. vauvert says:

All black, blah. Turtleneck dress? Isn’t that a tad too casual for this function? I love the necklace, it seems to be one of those love it or hate it things, but in general I love Cartier stuff so I am biased. Hate the shoes. She always seems to wear the same stupid shoes, always the same height. With her budget can’t she get some interesting choices?

  17. Kitten says:

    I’m hungry.

  18. Mira says:

I love how animated she is when she’s talking to Jenna Lyons…I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so expressive since she became a royal!

    • Pippa Mids says:

Facial expressions – classless common; very unregal and degrading as a royal member. It’s as if the people have more importance than the heir to.
Then what’s the sense of having a monarchy/BRs. The same with new expensive jewelry – huge YAWN!!

Only highlight waity Cannot is of no importance to (HM GB). Waity not granted the use of the royals significant and marvelous jewelry collections. Who can blame HM PC.

What a phoney meeting with Princess E York. PE seem to be playing along (smugly) with Doolittle middleton fakeness. Waity need to thank her stars PE didn’t show while Wills in DC- (waity would be curtsying to York!!

P Wils and Mayor de Balsio was good photo op at Empire State, and Innovation Reception. Same with the Pres at OF (great Waity was kept away).

I just can’t anymore with your comments. They are so relentlessly negative and unnecessarily mean-spirited. I know you have the right to express yourself and this is a gossip sight and other sites are much worse … blah, blah, blah, but *why* on earth would someone want to be this hostile (and repetitive) for goodness sake?

      • M says:

IMO- I agree with you. I love this site & the comments (celebitches rule) but some of the commenters on the royals have been over the top! I don’t even understand it.

      • DarkSparkle says:

        @ IMO, +3.

  19. donnaloowho says:

The problem with Kate’s smile is it looks forced. I hate it when I have to force a smile for a few minutes. I bet her cheeks are sore from all the constant smiling.

    I also hate the necklace.

  20. Penelope says:

She looks great here but I still can’t with that bubblegum-pink coat yesterday.

    Love this necklace.

  21. roxy750 says:

Just d-o-n-t- TOUCH her anyone. DONT TOUCH

  22. Birdie says:

Her style is so unbelievably boring. The coats, shoes, hair, dresses. No fun with fashion, everything she wears makes her so much older. I liked her style in the beginning, but now.. blah.

  23. Lucky Charm says:

I’m pretty sure I read that she was wearing this dress under the pink coat all day, so she didn’t actually change her clothes, she just removed her coat when she was inside for the cocktail party. And I take back my snark about her wearing that bright pink coat to the 9-11 memorial. If they went from there straight to a dance recital, and then to lunch, she wouldn’t have had time to change. Although it still would have worked much better to wear the pink with the kids the day before, because kids and bright colors and all….

    • The Original Mia says:

She changed clothes. This has a turtle neck. There was no turtle neck seen under her pink coat.

      • notasugarhere says:

Yes, she went back to the hotel and changed. I’d can’t post the picture (links aren’t getting through). If you dare to cruise through RD, you’ll find a photo on page 63 of the thread about their visit. One shows the pink coat blowing up a bit and revealing the short black dress she wore the previous day.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •notasugarhere•

        What’s RD?

      • Feeshalori says:

LS, it’s Royal Dish, another gossip site.

      • Lucky Charm says:

Ah, ok. I thought it was the same outfit. Well then, I take back my retraction, lol!

I would love to see Angelina in that coat, though…

      • angelique says:

Awww . You had to tell her didn’t you?

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Freeshalori•

      • M says:

True- as long as the “friend” is coming from a good place and not calling you vile names & shaming you for (clutching my pearls tightly now) being in a gust of wind, smiling, not smiling, wearing color, not wearing color, existing, etc, etc.

      • notasugarhere says:

M, you seem to think people who criticize this taxpayer-funded individual for doing a bad job are somehow in the wrong. No matter how you slice it, she is a government employee and if she’s doing a piss poor job, she’ll be criticized and rightly so. The only thing, the ONLY thing, she brings to the table is how she looks and dresses. No work ethic. No training. No dedication. No empathy or care for others judging by her behavior.

I’m going to guess – and this is my opinion only – that most of us desperately want her to do a good job. Desperately. We WANT her to succeed. Her position is too important for her to continue to fail at this level, this consistently, after 10 years of waiting and almost 4 years on the job.

      • wolfpup says:

She is not my friend. She is a photograph. What never ceases to amaze me, is posters attacking other posters. We are all here (in virtual reality), and things that we say to each other can hurt; but not Kate, she’s not here with the rest of us. Kate has plenty of hired help for her feelings, and besides that, it’s time for her massage.

We are not children to chide… We have backgrounds and experience, that translates into opinions. With evidence, they evolve. Perhaps, if her “people” were to read some of the very good advice here, we could applaud her. Directing criticism at one another, takes the fun out of it, and makes reading wearisome. I have noticed that whenever a trip is taken by the young royals, a lot of people show up on these threads, attacking others who do not share their point of view. However, Kate gets an Olympic medal for waitying, and that should make someone happy! (good one, Kaiser!)

I love those quotes. ❤️ I may have to steal them! 😉

(You won’t miss them will you?)

    • LadySlippers says:

“The motive behind criticism often determines its validity. Those who care criticize where necessary. Those who envy criticize the moment they think that they have found a weak spot.” ~Criss Jami~

“Often those that criticise others reveal what he himself lacks.” ~Shannon L. Alder~

“You can’t let praise or criticism get to you. It’s a weakness to get caught up in either one.” ~John Wooden~

You have won this battle LadySlippers!

        Not trying to win.

I think it’s perfectly okay to criticise as long as it’s done in a constructive manner. Also, not everyone will agree — opinions will widely vary. Again, that’s fine. But personal attacks are not okay and that’s what I think •imo• and others are trying to convey.

      • M says:

I totally agree with you & meant my comment as a light hearted compliment 🙂 Your quotes were great- I love the quote about where the motivation for criticism comes from & I thought it was very appropriate. I’m all for healthy critism & I have been taken aback the last two days by some of the comments about the royals while visiting (personal attacks, etc). These stories remind me of watching the scrutiny of Diana & I do hope Kate finds more peace in her role. That being said, I like the royals (new found interest so I am learning) and am excited to see the new generation come to life!

    • Have no lipservice please says:

Unfortunately cricitism is not enough to deal with the Royals. The monarchy is an obsolete institution which gives legitimation to the British class system and should be abolished as soon as possible.
Unfortunately the criticism of the Royals doesn’t go far enough as their hypocrisy is hardly ever called out properly. The Queen who is supposed to care for her country and keep an eye on things had just one feebly whispered sentence to say about the financial crisis: “Why did nobody notice [early enough]?” She is head of state and should know and do better.
Same for the next two generations of monarchs. Charles “He-who-talks-to-flowers” and William Dolittle.

      • Caroline says:

The Queen is not allowed to comment on anything political as she is not part of the political process. She is neutral. Charles whom I like, does get involved in political matters but once he becomes king may have to stop unless he wants to cause a constitutional crisis.

Every country has a hierarchy of some sort. Look at the US Ivy League. Look at the civil rights issues in the US.

Not particularly replying to you but with reference to Kate wearing the bright pink coat to the world trade cente, I visited the US in June (loved it). Before I went I was studying trip advisor to try and get things right. Told on there by Americans that they did not want the World Trade Centre referred to as Ground Zero any more as that represented tragedy and they wanted to move on. Maybe Kate’s pink coat was in recognition of the wanting to move on and also all that the US had done to make such a wonderful memorial. Years ago in Britain we had a memorial service in Liverpool after a football disaster where fans were killed. The wife of the prime minister was slammed for wearing a red coat. She did it in tribute to the football team whose colour was red. Surely what mattered was that Kate went and did show her respects.

Imo – I get your perspective, but gossip blogs are for lovers to love and haters to hate. No shade to lovers or haters, they get equal time here which is what makes it fun.

    • Vava says:

      Here’s a quote:
      “Call a spade a spade.”

Not sure WHO to attribute that to, but it fits.

I just find them so useless. Note: am Canadian. He’s going to be my head of state one day. I hope I’m dead by then. At least Charles will try.

Wondered if anyone else saw that and what they thought! Looks like the DM is definitely having a go at WK in a “by proxy’ sort of way. They “disagree” but are running the piece fairly prominently. (Or were initially.) Hmm.

Whoever wrote the article seemed to collect many of our thoughts.

      • Elizabeth R says:

I see some folks are speculating it’s a reverse psychology attempt to bestir WK supporters into defending them more vocally. I’m not sure *what* to make of it all, frankly.
