Prince William & Kate released three new photos of Prince George, yay!

george1

Duchess Kate and Prince William didn’t bring Prince George to New York for their 72-hour extravaganza, so we missed out on a great photo-op of Prince George punching Mayor Bill de Blasio in the face. We actually hadn’t seen any candid or photo-shoot pics of Prince George in a while – months, really. And then at the stroke of midnight last night (in England), Clarence House released these three new images of toddler Prince George.

George is sitting on the steps of Kensington Palace. According to Hello Magazine, the photos were taken by a “member of William and Kate’s household staff.” Which is sort of weird when you think about it – Kate fancies herself a photographer, as do several people in her family. Plus, they could literally call any professional photographer they wanted to take George’s photo. Instead, it sounds like they got the gardener to photograph him. Just kidding, I’m sure this whole thing was orchestrated by Will and Kate’s press office. Maybe the new American press officer took the photos? But he’s not a member of the “household staff.”

If you care about baby clothes, George is wearing a white Polarn O. Pyret top and a wool Cath Kidston sweater vest. He’s got that toddler look now, not so babyish! He’s getting longer too – I’m sure he’s going to be a tall boy. Honestly, he looks SO MUCH like William when William was little. Except how did George get brown eyes? Kate has hazel-y eyes and William has blue eyes. George got brown eyes out of nowhere.

What else? Royal reporter Peter Hunt says that these photos are being released as a “thank you” to the UK media for “not using pap pix of the prince.” I wonder how they got George to sit still? I bet Lupo was out of frame, being used to get George’s attention. Lupo is his best friend!!

    Adorable.

    • LadySlippers says:

What?!? No squeeing over the traditional clothes?!? I’m so disappointed Dahling! 😉

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

You know I love them! I just think people get tired of me saying the same thing over and over. But for you …. SQUEEEEEEEEEEE! The clothes! The short pants and shoes and little collar and vest! I. Can’t. Stand. It.

      • LadySlippers says:

        Thank. You.

The minute I saw the pics I thought of you! Lol 😜

      • Abby_J says:

I have a wee baby a little bit older than this adorable little future king, and I dress him very similar. Bubble suits, short sets, knee high socks, smocking. It is common where I grew up.

My husband isn’t completely sold on it, but he goes with it. He has suggested that I have another year of it, before he cuts me off. We will see.

It just makes me happy to see that sweet baby. He looks so happy!

    • Lovelee412 says:

These just made my Sunday!!!!! 🙂

    • Elizabeth R says:

Add me to the list of those who love the traditional children’s clothing. No intention of having kids, but if I had dressing jurisdiction over my nieces & nephew – THIS style, all the way.

  2. aquarius64 says:

    Cute!!!

  3. LAK says:

Knock me down with a feather, Victoria Arbiter said something negative and snarky about a) The Palace b) The Cambridges. She’s also pointing out the obvious PR. Jeesh, WK have miles to climb if they are pissing off their No 1 cheerleader in the royal press corp.

Cute pics, love the one of him looking up, has that, ‘ I didn’t do it, Lupo did it!’ cute face children make when they know they’ve been caught out doing something naughty.

    • notasugarhere says:

Did you see the Camilla Tominey Express article?

Yes, obvious PR is obvious. Useless trip to NYC. Many angered about Barbie Pink at 9/11 Memorial. Hack off UK press with the friendly treatment of the US counterparts. Bring out photos of PGTips!

BTW, Kate Middleton was shopping the day of the Belgian funeral.

      https://twitter.com/streatevents
      StrEAT @streatevents · Dec 12
Well that was an eventful visit to Peter Jones in Sloane Square, I only queued behind Kate Middleton doing her crimbo shopping!

      • LAK says:

Yes I read her piece. Not as hard hitting considering it’s her and what she’s written in the past.

I can’t believe Kate went shopping on that particular day. What a numpty. Clearly, Kate isn’t being told world events that impact royals so they can avoid these sorts of messes or she isn’t listening.

BP went out of it’s way to smooth over the public perception that no one in Britain went. They said everyone was busy and so they sent an ambassador.

They also said that HM and the Belgians are close and have been communicating intensely over the past few months.

And then numpty is caught shopping…….

        Urgh!!!

On a different note, did you see DM pointing out that Kate doesn’t socialise with William’s friends anymore?

Would be fine, marriage and kids etc, BUT! They also pointed out how she was glued to his side and never missed a single occasion in her GF days.

      • Red Snapper says:

Even the sugar sites were dismayed by the hot pink coat. The press’s take? “Kate’s coat sells out in record time!” Sidenote – my favorite ever comment from a sugar: “I do not like all this negativity dressed up as ‘critical thinking’.” Hee Hee! WTF?

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I wonder about ALL of what went on behind the scenes in NYC with Kate and William because the British press seemed quite irritiated by the couple upon return.

I found Ms.Tominey’s article a bit of a B1tch-Slap warning to the couple and Kate.
I loved the article and that some of the British press is getting tired of their nonsense even if it’s emerging slowly.

On another note, Prince George is ADORABLE! Such a little sweetie! Those cheeks, he’s so cute. 🙂

      • bluhare says:

That comment was made after someone defended her criticism of them on that blog. Which indicates that the blog owner is more than happy to allow discussion there. You’re right that the die hard fans don’t like it one bit, but I post on that “sugar” site, and there are a few people who post there who actually are very good critical thinkers, to use that term. I tend to avoid the people who aren’t. It’s like posting on a hater blog. There’s some who don’t think William and Kate ever did anything good or Kate wore anything nice in her life. There’s not much point trying to talk to them either.

      • notasugarhere says:

It was one of the British press who leaked that the St. Andrews gala was no where near a sell-out, and tables were removed to make it look like all the available seats were sold. Facts about these two keep trickling out via social media, with help from the press.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

…….Also what about the Daily Mail article where Kate had WORDS with one of William’s female friends? I wonder what went down?
Hope S.Shakespeare of the Daily Mail tells more……soon. 🙂

      • Sixer says:

I think the comparison Tominey made with Harry was quite interesting – I mean, it’s writ large in tablets of stone that Harry dislikes the press as much as William. He’s said it clearly and often enough.

The implication being, presumably, that Harry can distinguish between press attention in the course of royal business and press attention in the course of his private life, and William cannot. Since the former is one of the main remaining justifications for retaining a constitutional monarchy, we can see what a problem that is. And yet, Harry is supposed to be the thick one. I beg to differ!

      • notasugarhere says:

The Kate Middleton non-attendance at William’s friends events? I don’t know what to think of that. As you said, she clung like The Limpet before marriage. During the last “HG pregnancy” she flew to Switzerland to attend a wedding and go sledding. This is a more recent development. She has multiple nannies to take care of PGTips, so that isn’t the reason. It points more to them living separate lives and William wanting time with his friends (and family in the case of Mia’s christening) – without her around.

      • Dany says:

the new DM article from Charlotte Griffiths remembers me what i always found so strange. They spin it as if Kate avoids them, but i think his friends don´t want her there. I mean there are rumors about Williams male and female friends disliking Kate for years now. More than one had some negative things to say about her and her desperate behaviour. They made fun of her mother and sister too. And William seems to be ok with that!!! What a lousy husband he is! Why is William still besties with all of them? Kate is his wife and mother of his children. Yes, i think she wanted the Prince so desperately and is lazy, but he married her and should be on her side. He parties with his posh friends, wents on hunting trips with them and is guest at every big event in their lifes. All while Kate stays at home waiting for his command. He treats her like movable furniture.

      • bluhare says:

Sixer, totally agree about Harry. He’ll court the press when he has something he wants attention for, which is smart. I read something not that long ago where someone was quoted as saying that his stint in the army (Afghanistan?) made Harry. I bet that there’s some truth there.

LAK, I responded earlier to you post and it went into the internet ether, but I love the word “Numpty”. I need to use it more!

      • Pippa Mids says:

PR sending out these precious pics using P Georgie.
Waity doolittle need to stop the horses facial with PG around (so common and unregal).

PGeorgie has a lot more to offer than Waity or Wills ever have. All G grand QEll PC- such regal confidence with people and the photog (taken by Prince Harry Private Secretary – (former photgorapher)).

        +1000
Yes local media and subjects are so disgusted with that US pony show. And for a time it seem the common overated elite and under educated celebs were more important than the royal heir – shame!

Waity found time to visit posh school kids and ‘wrap gifts’ yet have no time for the same in her own country and tax payers supporting her wealthy lazy lifestyle, shopping, renovations and the likes.

      • Pippa Mids says:

Such a huge slip by our BRF /the Firm – the Dukes Countess Sofie, P’ess B*E would have gladly represent. Even Asia’s royals were in attendance from such long distance.

Waity not present at P Wills friends events ( a mistake when she was glued as Waity for a decade), – seems Waity doolittle ma carole middleton advisor beleives waity now has the ring and baby and is far above Wills aristo friends – is mistaken.

With all the immature immitation of Lady Di P’ess OW,- doolittle forget Di was respected and loved and a hardworker and valueable (in comparison) , and was removed from the RF, inspite of delivering the heir (two Princes). Waity is of no value!

      • HH says:

@LAK et al – I read that article yesterday and was happy that someone else noticed her non-attendance. I’ve noticed it for a while now and discussed it here, but the news outlets never caught on. It’s very odd to me, especially because (as it’s been pointed out) she was ever-present as his girlfriend. The weirder part is that it’s not as though she’s passing up these events to hang out with her own friends, she’s busy doing activities *alone* all the time.

    • The Original Mia says:

I’m surprised Vicky said something negative. She was only too happy about the pink coat. I let her know Ground Zero wasn’t about the Duchess, but about the souls that died there. Obvious PR is obvious. It’s about time someone called the Cambridges or better Wills out on what he’s doing. It’s beyond ridiculous that he schmoozes up to the NY press and acts a jerk with the UK press. WE truly don’t care about him & his family beyond the glitz.

I expected more from Camilla’s article, but now I think it hit just the right tone of exasperation, censure and concern without being called “hater troll” bait.

PGTips is an adorable little boy. I wonder if Harry was there when ELF took the pictures.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

“Cute pics, love the one of him looking up, has that, ‘ I didn’t do it, Lupo did it!’ ”

So true – he looks exactly like that. Or maybe he thinks the photographer will give him a piece of candy if he’s good. Lol

      • Feeshalori says:

What a shame we can’t see more pictures of this adorable little tyke. He has a determined expression on his face in the last photo, and his hand looks like he’s reaching out to grab something beyond camera range. Hopefully, it’s not Lupo’s ears!

  4. Philo says:

    Cute

  5. Megan says:

What a cutie! I want to pinch those cheeks!!!!

The photos were taken by William’s private secretary, who used to be a professional photog.

    • LAK says:

Reports are saying ELF took the pictures, and he’s Harry’s private secretary, not William.

Also matches his CV (the part that’s been made public)

  6. oh dear says:

sooo cute 🙂 smizing all the way lol

  7. kri says:

That kid is the best thing to happen to the Palace since Harry. God, he’s a adorable!

  8. Kiddo says:

He is hilariously cute, like a mini Winston Churchill or vintage Spanky, from the Little Rascals:

    http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/10/14/article-2217547-0ED75E0700000578-770_634x666.jpg

    http://www.tvparty.com/bgifs12/spanky1.jpg

Lots of personality. He’s like a little man in a child’s body.

    • kibbles says:

He really does look like Churchill and Spanky. He has Churchill’s smile too. He looks just like William. I don’t see a lot of Kate in his features. And he has a lot more personality than William did as a toddler. Hopefully that means his personality takes more after other members of the family and not William.

      • wolfpup says:

I think that his brown eyes came from his grandfather, Mike Middleton. He looks like a good mix of the Spencers and Middletons; something has to be avoided that afflicted Charles and William.

He’s cute, but my babies were cuter! Maybe other mother’s can relate,

    • LAK says:

OMG love the vintage spanky comparison. LOL.

As for Winston, they are related, so the resemblance isn’t surprising.

      • Kiddo says:

Interesting. I did not know about the Churchill bloodline.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It’s through Diana – the Spencers and the Churchills were related through marriage. If I remember correctly, a long ago Spencer earl married a Churchill daughter.

      • LAK says:

GNAT: the Churchills and Spencers are blood relations, not inlaws. A Churchill married a Spencer, but then the Churchills died out so the Spencer relations inherited the Churchill titles and fortune and changed their name to Spencer – Churchill, Churchill for short. Meanwhile the remaining junior Spencer was enobled and went on to birth the Spencers that we know

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        LAK
        I see, thank you.

    • Olenna says:

Yep, I’ve seen the resemblance to George “Spanky” McFarland in an earlier photo, too. It’s the cute chubby cheeks! He also resembles Pippa in the second photo.

    • j.eyre says:

You just made me fall in love with him even more:

“I would say to the Big Gran, as I said to those who have joined my legion of minions: “I have nothing to offer but bilby assaults, immediate demands for my dummy, bath times that will take an emotional toll on you and blowing raspberries at will.””

      • Kiddo says:

        Nicely done.

      • j.eyre says:

Thank you, I strive to live up to your precedent.

Do you see the birth of a comic strip here? A little top hat-wearing, rumple-suited George, chewing on a cigar-shaped teether and pounding his fist, demanding Parliament’s support of his intentions to invade Covent Gardens?

      • bluhare says:

It’s nice to see your name, j.eyre. (You too Kiddo! :))

      • Kiddo says:

@j.eyre, Ssshh! Someone will steal your genius idea. GET TO WORK.

        @bluhare, As always, you too!

      • j.eyre says:

@bluhare – ah, its good to “see” you too, m’dear. I still go to posts I would not normally read just to find you, LAK and ICM, among others. If I am not mistaken, I saw aims recently too.

        @Kiddo – I’m on it.

    • Megan says:

Kiddo -LOL. Thanks for the links.

    • Becks says:

Kiddo, you’re right. I couldn’t place my finger on who he reminded me of. He def has the look of a vintage baby. He’s ridiculously cute! Those rosy cheeks! 😊

    • Feeshalori says:

And there is a resemblance to the comedian Jonathan Winters in that last photo, too:

      http://www.ksby.com/images/news/2013-04/JonathanWinters.jpg

  9. alisonna says:

    Those rosy cheeks!!! 💛💛💛

  10. MrsBPitt says:

    So freaking cute!!!!!

  11. Sea Dragon says:

    What a sweet looking boy!

  12. LahdidahBaby says:

What a cutiepie. Looks to me like a cross between Willam as a tot & Kate’s father.

  13. InvaderTak says:

What negative press about the ny trip is there? I wasn’t keeping up. I didn’t really hear anything other than Kate’s side eye in Harlem.

    • LAK says:

The UK press were not amused. Lots of twitter conversations about what a dud the entire trip was betwixt the royalreporters.

Overall, the trip was not deemed a success from the UK POV, particularly WK, and mainstream media has been printing articles that said as much in as many days since they returned. As Victoria Arbiter, the most royalist of royal reporters says in her tweet above, well played KP, well played.

      • bluhare says:

So I guess the new PR guy is earning his money. Although you’ve trained me to look for motive, LAK. Last night when I saw these I said “AHA! Fine counter to the not-so-nice articles coming up!”

      • Sixer says:

Seriously, even Nicholas Witchell was having problems bigging up this visit on the BBC. And usually, he sends me running for my sick bucket, wasting segments of my news bulletins with his sonorous intonings of “William this” and “Catherine that”. You could almost hear the subtext of “How the eff am I going to spin THIS crock o’shite for three whole minutes?” in all his NY reports. You could feel the nation cringe.

And if Nicholas was sounding desperate, I can only imagine what the rest of the press was thinking. No wonder they needed the sprog (who IS cute).

(Mind you, I’m biased, so perhaps I’m just wannawouldbe projecting!)

      • psuedointellectual says:

Bad press non stop on the U.S. trip. William goes on hunting trips non stop and arranges a photo op with the US President about wildlife preservation? Tone effing deaf PR.
The pink coat at ground zero was a different version of dress flying up (“me, me, it’s always all about me – take that Prince William!”) Even more passive aggressive than her sainted mother in law.

      • FLORC says:

        haha Bluhare
Trained to look for motive, so true!
Yes, George is an adorable baby. And I like that old style filter with extra rosey cheeks. It’s all too clear it’s a tactic though.
Pay no attention to the bad press. Instead look at the cute baby we only trot out for this very reason. Yea, George is a toddler and adorable (as they all are). We’re not dull enough to be so easily ditracted.

      • bluhare says:

I dunno, FLORC. A cute baby distracts me every time. 🙂

      • Kiki04 says:

It definitely wasn’t a big deal over here that’s all I can say. Very little press about them on any of the major networks, and I felt like if they hadn’t met LeBron or Beyonce no one really would have cared. I figured with the whole Kate side eye images it wasn’t too long before a cute pic of George…..

      • Megan says:

It did strike me as odd that they did not give the media any quotes while they were here.

      • LadySlippers says:

I can totally understand why the UK Royal
Reporters were less than thrilled with the Cambridges’ NYC/DC trip — William essentially flipped them off during the entire tour. I’d be ticked off too if I were them.

And the new PR guy starts next month. It’ll be interesting to see how things change with him aboard (read a bit into the article to see that info).

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2872288/Blonde-got-Kate-flash-bit-leg-rest-team-ve-honed-image.html

      • FLORC says:

        Bluhare
All bad news should be delivered with a cute baby being dangled infront of us 🙂

        Kiki
It was where I live. Not the every day papers or folks. The morning shows and magazines though were non-stop coverage. It carried over to evening news once the couple was here. I was actually a bit surprised at how much coverage they got.

      • ArtHistorian says:

        LadySlippers,

It wasn’t really smart of Will to treat the US and the UK press so differently. The UK press is more important for him because he actually needs them in terms of his role as a royal. It was an unprofessional move. Everyone sometimes has to work and interact professionally with people they don’t like but has to put on a good face. It is called being professional. William can’t let his personal feelings about the UK press dictate his attitude when he’s working, it is unprofessional and the only one he is hurting in the long run is himself.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •ArtHistorian•

I completely agree. Even if William has legit concerns/issues with the British media — this is *not* how to handle it.

        •Florc•

Yes, cute babies (of any animal) should ALWAYS accompany bad news! Lol

    • T.C. says:

Me too I didn’t know there were any negative press about their USE trip. Lonely heard about them meeting Bey and Jay Z. Not much other coverage. Was there a dress fly up or something? Of course they would be nicer to the US press, they are foreign visitors and have to be extra nice as diplomats. Plus our press won’t take crap and will release negative stories unlike the UK press who are just synchofants even airbrushing Kate’s daily pictures. Not a fan of these two but I don’t get what they did wrong.

      • Brionne says:

Agree. I don’t see anything to clutch the pearls about.

      • FLORC says:

US press has fang girl press. They air brush Kate and print fluff stories. It happens more than you’d think. And let’s not forget the Today show courting Pippa.
The press here would cover for them faster than they’d disgrace them in print.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Florc•

I think it’s more because most Americans aren’t as knowledgeable so only certain sites carry anything other than fluff.

      • FLORC says:

        LadySlippers
Good point. And the States sure do love a fairy tale. It’s a romantic idea so great it’s a willing blind eye given.

  14. Ally.M says:

George looks like he’s been placed on the naughty step.

  15. minx says:

    Just adorable.

  16. Miss M says:

By his facial expressions, methinks he will be a prankster. Hahaha
    He is adorable!!!

    • EscapedConvent says:

I think so too. He looks like he can’t wait to go stir up some pranks! He’s going to be a handful!

  17. EscapedConvent says:

Oh my God, that is the cutest baby I’ve seen in a long time. And he seems to be bursting with personality and mischief. Very sweet pics.

  18. INeedANap says:

That last picture looks like he’s itching to pick up a toy and hurl it at someone! Adorable.

  19. phuckurthotz says:

He’s gorgeous a perfect mix of both parents.

  20. Ginger says:

Obviously taken by someone who has photography skills. These aren’t I-phone snaps. I ADORE his sweater vest! Such a lil cutie! He does have a naughty glint in his eye like his Uncle Harry.

  21. Jenni says:

Cute kid. I hope he will keep his hair longer than daddy.

  22. Greyson says:

He doesn’t look much like William at all for me. Save for the light brown hair. (As a tot William had a narrower face shape and of course, blue eyes)

The boy is adorable, but his looks definitely favor the Middleton side of the family. Particularly his maternal grandfather, who has brown eyes.

The Winsdor genes may kick in more as he gets older, as Harry looks a lot more like Prince Charles now than he did as a kid.

  23. Cupcake says:

I lurve the toddler look!! No longer a baby, not yet a kid. Big emotions and lots of love. It’s a wonderful age 🙂

  24. Jess says:

My goodness he’s so adorable!! He does look a lot like William.

Genetics really confuse me sometimes, I know a couple who both have brown eyes but both of their children have clear blue, and I know many people with dark hair but their kids ended up with blonde. My ex and I both had blonde hair as kids and I thought our daughter would too, but nope, she came out with almost jet black hair, nobody in our immediate families has dark hair. It’s so crazy how dominant and recessive genes work, fascinates me.

    • Erinn says:

I love that kind of stuff. Husbands got brown eyes with a strip of bright green heterochromia… His mom has blue eyes and his dad has darkish Hazel eyes. My grandfather had blue eyes and nan has hazel and my aunts have hazel or brown and dad has gray blue like mine. We’re kind of all over the board for what our kids will look like because there’s black, brown red and blonde variations in both of our families.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It fascinates me, too, because I know so many couples with children who don’t follow “the rules.” I guess I just don’t understand it. My family is of Irish and Scottish descent, and although no one, including grandmothers, can recall anything but blondes in our family, both of my brothers married brunettes and both have one redheaded child. It is very interesting.

      • Stephanie says:

This doesn’t surprise me. I see it often in biracial children. A blonde white parent and a dark haired brown parent pop out red heads all the time. It’s such a funny phenomenon.

    • Kelly says:

The thing about genetics, from what I remember of high school biology, is that both Kate and William’s eye colors are recessive traits. Meaning if William has blue eyes, then he ONLY has blue-eye genes to pass along, and if Kate has hazel eyes, she ONLY has hazel eyes to pass along. For one of them to pass along a brown eyed gene, that parent would be brown eyed since that is a dominant trait. I’m the only light eyed, light haired person in my family, but what that means is that both of my parents passed those recessive traits along to me. The implication here is that with brown eyes, George may not be William’s son. Of course, there is the possibility of mutation, since I doubt the royals would want to even address the possibility of illegitimacy.

This is the basic model I learned-since blue is the recessive trait, you have to have two of those for it to show up. This shows how two brown eyed parents could show up with a blue eyed child, but it would only happen 25% of the time without mutation.

      • lisa says:

this oversimplified concept of how eye color genes are passed on but it really isnt correct

i learned it or something like it in high school, only to have it debunked in college

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It has also been debunked by life experience. I know so many exceptions to these rules.

      • Observer says:

They still haven’t figured out the ‘eye gene’. It is said to be the most complicated…also, where’s gray eyes in all of this? And violet (although rare).
Anywho…the Bb stuff you learned in high school has been debunked.

      • bluhare says:

        I always wanted violet eyes.

      • Stephanie says:

That’s true for blue but hazel is neither dominant or recessive. It’s a different gene arrangement all together.

      • solanaceae (Nighty) says:

That idea learnt at school is already refuted, new studies are being made, in particular for hazel eyes, one recent theory points out that hazel eyes are actually a mixture of recessive blue eye gene and a modified brown eye gene, since they are extremely common in families with blue and brown eyes.. My parents have blue (mom) and dark brown (dad) and mine are hazel…
The grey apparently is thought to be a variation from the blue…
And besides that, you do know eye or hair colour can skip generations, right? Up to 5 generations…
My mom for instance, blue eyes, her mother, green, her grandmother blue…
So maybe the kid has his grandparents eyes…

      • Jess says:

I haven’t heard that about hazel eyes, almost all the women in my family have hazel, going back 5 generations, mine can look almost yellow depending on what I wear.

One thing that makes me sad about not having more children with my ex is not seeing how another mixture of our genes would turn out, it’s just so neat creating people!

    • Malificent says:

From what I’ve heard there are multiple genes that affect eye color, although they still don’t have all of the details. — so the Punnett Square diagrams from back in the day are vaguely accurate — but don’t predict the full set of possibilities. The best description I’ve heard is that it’s like layers of stained glass. And it’s the combination of which layers that you inherit from each parent combined together that determine eye color.

For example, my mom has dark brown eyes from a brown-eyed father and a green-eyed mother. My dad had blue eyes from a brown-eyed mother (who had a blue-eyed parent) and a blue-eyed dad. I have dark brown eyes like my mom — I inherited the dark brown “layers” from my mom — which “cover over” the lighter layers that I inherited from my dad. My sister has green eyes — having inherited a lighter set of layers from my mom and my dad’s lighter layers.

My son has brown eyes like me, but his eyes are several shades lighter — mine are dark brown, but his eyes are more of an amber brown — courtesy of his green-eyed father and also possibly some of the lighter recessive layers that I have from my dad.

  25. Talie says:

He looks like a great mix of both — he definitely has Kate’s eyes and cheeks though.

  26. morgane says:

prince george looks like grandpa middleton with william’s nose

  27. Louise says:

He looks like he is a little over 2 years old.

  28. notasugarhere says:

“Except how did George get brown eyes? Kate has hazel-y eyes and William has blue eyes. George got brown eyes out of nowhere. ” Nice one, Kaiser. One theory is geneticists state there is a slim (1 percent?) chance their child could have brown eyes.

    • FLORC says:

      Nota
Unless those geneticists had the Cambridges give samples and history to them that 1% is a work of their imaginations. It’s more than likely he’d have brown eyes and was expected.
It’s very interesting. My husband and I were tested as just a little fun bonus to fertility treatments. We wanted to know if my father’s blue eyes could play a role in our child’s eyes.
He and his whole family are blue. Blue eyes run all the way to their grandparents too with 1 brown great aunt.
I have brown, my brother got hazel, mother brown, and father blue. Tests showed I had a chance greater than 1% to have a blue eyed child with my husband.

Nothing scandalous about brown is my point.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Brown eye color is a dominant genetic trait and more than 50% of the world’s population have brown eyes, unless you have some special knowledge of genetics you wish to share, there is nothing unusual about his adorable brown eyes.

  29. Tiffany says:

Yeah…that kid looks like he is ready to do some damage.

  30. Irishserra says:

Oh, this one is a cutie! I think he favors Pippa very much in the eyes.

And that second picture of him… all he needs is a fist and he’d look like that “nailed it” meme baby.

    He’s just so adorable.

  31. Bridget says:

It says a lot about how squirrely that kid must be that they didnt get a photo of him looking in the camera and smiling. They’re going to have their hands full with this one.

    • Jaded says:

Um…kids that age don’t pose. Doesn’t mean he’s “squirrely”, just an active two-year old. I’m surprised they got him to sit long enough to get some snaps in. At that age they just want to run.

      • Bridget says:

Its not like the kid is sitting still for an oil painting, they’re snapping pictures. Most likely while people are standing next to the camera making noise and doing silly things to get him to look and smile. Same thing with his 1 year photos – none of him actually looking at the camera.

  32. word says:

These pics are so cute ! Just wondering when he is allowed to wear pants? I’ve only seen him in shorts…and these pics were taken outside in November in UK…very chilly that time of year. Is that some sort of royal protocol?

  33. Mzizkrizten says:

Everytime I see his adorable face I think of Princess Di. She would just be so in love with her sweet grandbaby. I bet Will really wishes she were alive.

    • wolfpup says:

It would have been so different…funny, how important one woman can be. I would have loved to see her with this baby too!!! They can trot George out, like Diana took her two; but the mother and child interactions will not be repeated with Kate. She is unnatural in comparison. I cannot recall everything that Diana’s brother said, with conviction, at her funeral – but I do remember one word he spoke in regard to her: inimitable.

I’ve been commenting on these threads for about 8 months. It is really disturbing, the PR spins, all of the dishonesty. I thought that the press was there to inform us – but PR is there, to confuse.

      • LAK says:

Wolfpup: I started commenting on here to vent about the PR.

I stay because with exception of the Jolie/aniston threads, it’s full of fabulous, informed people and i’ve made friends here who’ve translated into real life.

Also, no one is effing and blinding when they are annoyed, even when you can tell they are annoyed.

It’s the right level of snarky for me.

      • FLORC says:

That’s true with many routes that are to give us news. It’s not often you’d find facts laid out to be absorbed. It’s total spin all too often.
It’s at the point that if you take these reports as honest reporting you’re allowing yourself to get fooled. Always cross check.

      • Dana says:

@wolfpup It’s pretty sad to see someone making deductions on the connection a mother has with her child based on what they see in the media.

It’s really easy to speak only the highest praise of someone who has passed away, especially when comparing them to someone living, as imperfect as we all are. You’d think she was a saint who did no wrong based on the way she is referred to sometimes.

Yes it’s sad that she isn’t around to see her grandkids, but no more sad than it is for any other family who loses someone too soon.

      • notasugarhere says:

The reports we have, both in credentialed press and social media, are that Kate Middleton is happy to dump her child on the nanny frequently to shop, vacation, etc. but ducks the responsibility of working. (See the Belgian funeral example.) That says a lot to many of us about her character.

“You’d think she was a saint who did no wrong based on the way she is referred to sometimes. ” I think Diana was human, flawed, lousy childhood, lousy marriage, emotionally manipulative, but always tried her best to do her job well.

The George pics are adorable, especially the grumpy old man pic.

I didn’t realize the British press was laying into the Cambridges about the NYC trip.

    My take:

The Duke’s visit to the White House to meet with Pres. Obama. I know it wasn’t a state visit but the duchess should have been there IMO. This is a visit to the American head of state and government a future king AND queen should have been there.

The Duchess’ visit to the 9/11 memorial – the pink coat was a wrong call. I’m surprised her handlers and her dresser would let this go, given there were 67 British citizens that were also killed that day. I found out about the British deaths on Wikipedia; none of the KP staff could have found this out?

Another bad call IMO – having the visit at all during a time there were nation-wide protests, NYC especially, about the grand jury’s decision not to indict the cop that killed Eric Garner. If they thought the royal couple was not going to be exposed to this, they got a rude awakening when LeBron James and other NBA players showed their solidarity by wearing “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirts during warm-up for a game that the couple was attending. The American press was complicit not to write that detail by hypeing Will and Kate meeting Beyonce’ and Jay-Z. Given the protests and serious issues that are being raised from them, a royal visit seems so unimportant.

    • perplexed says:

Didn’t William have to actually have a conversation with Obama? Maybe that’s why Kate wasn’t included. William wasn’t that good to begin with as a conversationalist.

      • FLORC says:

He did, but the conversation half from William was horrible. It was an example of how little prepared William is for his position.
And Kate could have gone. The whole trip was altered to include Kate since her going was not in the original plan. It would not have been tough at all for Kate to be there at the White House and not alter William’s photo op (and discussion) sit down with President Obama.

    • hannah says:

I’m not sure I understand the coat problem . Queen Mathilde wore a sleeveless dress , Queen Elizabeth a light floral ensemble and Camilla almost the same shade of pink as Kate .

      • Feeshalori says:

Kate’s wardrobe choices did not make sense during her visit. She wore shades of black and gray for various events including a basketball game, black to a children’s visit the day before, that neon pink Barbie coat to the 9/11 memorial, and then back to black again for a cocktail party later that evening. Logically speaking, that bright pink should have been worn for the children’s visit and either black or her purple tweed coat for the 9/11 occasion. Many have issue with her choice of color as a grab for attention during a very solemn visit to a memorial for the dead. Given the selection of muted, drab outfits in her wardrobe and her known fondness for black, she instead chooses a screaming pink coat to wear. Not a good call at all.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •hannah•

The bright pink is very controversial colour choice for a memorial. It’s very divisive– some people will love it (and they did) and others won’t like it at all (had that too). Kate used the same logic QEII does, so I get it, but if you can try and avoid something so controversial and divisive, I would. But that’s me.

I looked and Mathilde’s and QEII’s outfits, while not sombre per se, they aren’t offensive. Even Camilla’s pink dress looks to be a more toned down pink — and Camilla and Charles were opening a British Garden Memorial so pink makes sense. Kate stood out partly due to the weather but it was a bit too bright for some people.

Here are the dresses so you can make your own decision.

Camillia’s dress (loved this on her):

        http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/royal-visit-ground-zero/10/

Mathilde’s dress (couldn’t find better pics — sorry!):

        http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/belgian-royals-visit-new-york/

QEII’s dress (not thrilled about this dress):

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1292594/Queen-tells-widow-horror-9-11-visits-Ground-Zero.html

      • Feeshalori says:

HM’s dress reportedly had a pattern of butterflies which symbolizes transformation and profound changes. While stylistically I wasn’t crazy about the dress either, I appreciate her thought in choosing something so meaningful and thoughtful for her visit. The other ladies wore more toned-down colors.

And even giving Kate the benefit of the doubt that she thought wearing a bright color would add some cheer to the event, she should have erred on the side of a more muted color so as to avoid the firestorm that hit over that particular choice.

  36. wow says:

Those Middleton genes are in full effect in George. He’s a gorgeous little boy. Looks more like Kate as a baby to me though.

  37. Vava says:

Well, he is a cute kid. I just can’t help but wonder why they trotted these photos out at this precise moment.

The Cambridges do need to change their approach. They ticked off the UK press one too many times and it’s high time they get called on it. This article on them should raise some red flags to them – it’s a subtle warning if they don’t start doing some real work and start behaving appropriately. They are rude, entitled JERKS.

Kate seems snooty to me. Avoiding her husband’s friends, faking her accent, towering over everyone in her stupid heels, behaving inappropriately. I think she’s trying to cover up some real insecurities she’s had since before she even married this egotistical ass.

    • wolfpup says:

Those twitter pic’s of Kate rolling her eyes, in response to a command of, “keep wrapping”, were hilarious. I thought that she looked as though she were saying, “don’t you know who I AM?”. She even turned around to see *who* had told her, and perhaps to throw off a little evil eye. DM says she had rolled her eyes, in response to someone who was being rude by asking; oh, please!!!

One thing can be certain – no one in the US is going to be committing suicide, over disappointing these two. Even shading the lady who “provoked” Kate’s eyeroll, will not be losing sleep – in contrast to that poor nurse in Britain.

      • lily says:

I read your second paragraph a couple of times and I still can’t understand what you are trying to communicate. I was a little taken aback from what I understood it to mean. Can you be a little more clear. Are you suggesting that William and Kate are in any way responsible for someone committing suicide?

      • FLORC says:

        lily
Only an interpretation of wolfpup’s comment.
It was thought and supported at the time that William dealt with those who displeased him. Maybe not directly, but pressure was created if he wished it to be.
Take most notable the DM journalist who documented her encounter with this. She wrote an unflattering article of Kate. Then some employees of Williams paid her a visit. They tried to intimidate her and requested she write more about what a hard worker Kate is. The woman laughed in her tea and wrote the whole thing up. That’s just a well documented time. The thought of upsetting William and that that alone would create pressure for a dismissal is not far fetched.
Although here I think the woman had demons. And maybe there’s a chance she thought she’s be attacked for falling for that prank.
I certainly think William has a reputation of being a bratty bully when not getting his way and the anxiety over what could happen might have been a final nail as they say.
He didn’t actually have to follow through with anything when a reputation preceeds him.
I’m not saying that did happen. Just it was speculated, supported by past behavior, and was out there as a possible interpretation.

The woman had troubles any way you look at it. And that’s a very said case.

    • Vava says:

I’d like to add that the distribution of George’s photos at this moment – feels as if they are using him as a prop – FOR DAMAGE CONTROL. They are as bad as any paps who infringe on privacy.

      • FLORC says:

        Vava
Did you see those “leaked” photos before the NY trip of George. They were “leaked” and plastered here in the states. How great the timing to start talking about their cute baby boy before they arrive. As we know, George is not to be seen by the public unless there’s a good reason. Poor boy is a pawn.

      • Vava says:

Hi FLORC, not sure I saw those photos, but it certainly feels as if George is a pawn right now. The Cambridges DISGUST me in more ways than one.

      • FLORC says:

        Vava
They were staged poses. William Kate and George in what looked like a family portrait. They weren’t candid shots at all. They really appeared like it was for family albums. Not sure how a photo like that could be leaked since it could easily stay out the the press’s hands.

    • Vava says:

Another thing to wonder about Kate ‘avoiding William’s friends’………….maybe she is avoiding William too!!!!

  38. Sillymilly says:

The brown eyes are from Kate’s Dad. Brown is dominant so it will always come through. It must secretly please Michael Middleton since his side has been overshadowed by the royal side. He’s in those brown eyes!

    • Observer says:

Michael Middleton’s eyes are not brown, they are a muted blueish/gray color if you look close. I think it’s the dark rings on the outside that throws people off, that and that they aren’t a light blue so it’s hard to see clearly from far away.

Look at close up pics and see for yourself.

  41. Suze says:

Damage control, but cute, well-done, damage control. He’s a cute kid. But they all are.

The US trip was low-key on the US side – there was barely any news of it anywhere, even the Today Show was on the low side of coverage – and a bit of dud from the UK perspective.

Meanwhile, the lack of royalty representation at the state funeral of Queen Fabiola is causing a steadily increasing outcry of “What are we paying these people for, if not to attend state funerals?”

Particularly when the court circular for Dec 12 was as empty as a church on Friday night.

    • LadySlippers says:

      •Suze•

I don’t care how ‘frosty’ things might be with certain people but at important life events, such as a funeral, that should be put aside. The BRF as a whole *should* have sent someone to Fabiola’s funeral. Especially if the CC was empty. Heck, even the junior royals, who typically are less busy than the senior royals, could have gone. ANYONE is better than no one.

      • ArtHistorian says:

It was definitely as big misstep on the part of the BRF and it didn’t go down well with their own citizens. I’m curious though, has the Palace come out with an explanation for why they didn’t send a representative? It is very odd, especially if the CC was empty.

      • Suze says:

Well, another version of the CC has Charles, William and Anne with engagements.

Which still leaves the Edward, Sophie, Andrew, Camilla, and Harry as available senior royals. Not to mention the Tier 2 gang.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •ArtHistorian•

        None that I have heard.

Doesn’t matter as I think they messed this up regardless. Tons of Royals were there and the BRF were a glaring exception.

        •Suze•

That sounds closer to probably what was reality. Harry had a Sentebale event but I think something of this nature he could have and *should* have gone. That and the Wessexes. Several other Royal Families sent multiple people and so should have the BRF.

      • Suze says:

        *LS*

It should have been either Camilla or Harry – this is a European Dowager QUEEN, for heaven’s sakes. But even the Wessex duo or one of the lesser royals of the same age group – Princess Alexandra comes to mind – would have been something.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Suze•

Harry and Alexandra would have been a great combo. They are both so well liked!

But yeah, this is something Charles and Camilla should have attended as plenty of others Royal Families sent their Empress/King/Queen. And with the Cambridges just home from tour excuses them — so I get not sending them. But Harry (as 4th in line and a son of the heir) with a few others should have been a priority.

Big thumbs down for the BRF here. Big thumbs down.

    • Pippa Mids says:

Waity eyes have makeover/changed too since Royal wedding.

+1 on NY mediahouses – they didn’t pay P Will *W much attention. Unlike CP Federik and Mary visit (without global PR announcing trip), they were interviewed by Good Morning America or Today. At hotel. Willnot and Doolittle (separation, workshy) itaking hold of the C’bridges.

Another release – P Charles POW*DoC Christmas card is a wonderful tribute to P Harry his Games. CP Fred got in a bit behind PC.

  42. Pippa Mids says:

Beautiful confident and alone Prince George! Thank goodness P George get to star in his own portraits- no Waity taking up more space on the photo..

Let’s hope he shows with his royal family ar Christmas Church – with Ggrands HMs, grandpa PC and King Harry, B*E Yorks get to hold him.

Now PG is getting older HMs, PC have more royal say and training (PG is ready) – too much common will make the RF irrelevant and just like us subjects.

    • FLORC says:

      Pippa

And can you explain why you chose the name Pippa for your handle?
      I’m just curious.

  43. hmmm says:

How arrogantly condescending of the Dolittles to pat the press on the head for good behaviour and reward them with pix of Georgie. Meanwhile, their relation to the public barely matters. Georgie is looking like a means to an end, a weapon, rather than the future king whom the parents proudly share with his future subjects.

    • FLORC says:

Be it the funeral or the US press vs. UK press. George is brought out as the fix all. And if he’s seen outside of a preapproved times it’s a sign that William is about to Rain down hell screaming invasion of privacy. This is a not a child we get glimpses of because the parents are proud and understand their son is a future leader. A leader that should be endeared to the public instead of having him kept far away until needed.
They really do keep him far away from normalcy. He might have some issues later over this. Meanwhile Estelle’s instagram is still amazing! The girl’s “off with their heads” glare is perfect.

      • ArtHistorian says:

Estelle is just adorable, and I think that it is very smart of her parents to get her slowly acclimated to the public at a young age. They do the same in Norway and Denmark. I don’t know about Hollans, Belgian and Spain but they all seem to have a sensible approach to the public side of their roles, including the children.

      • LadySlippers says:

        •Florc•

And who knows, the pics might have been planned to come out when they did and it just looks bad because of all the PR missteps we’ve seen before. So it’s hard to know exactly.

I’m just going to focus on how adorable George is! And I don’t have to lie to say it either! Lol

      • FLORC says:

        LadySlippers
I might get flack about this, but here it is.
Not all kids are absolutely adorable. I think they are more adorable when they show personality, but if they’re naturally cute that works too.
I think George is an ok looking kids. Cute enough, but wouldn’t get any extra comments if not for the circumstances.
He’s just not the cutest little guy, but if you say this you’re eaten alive. That’s why baby pictures are such a great distraction.

And I bet George has pictures snapped of him very often. These were just released to distract.

    • MinnFinn says:

hmmm – That is exactly right and I hope there are some newspaper columns forthcoming about William’s silly attempt at Pavlovian conditioning.

This latest statement supports what I’ve been saying all along. William’s method is to punish press and Commonwealth citizenry by withholding and suppressing as much info and photos about George as he can.

  44. Murphy says:

  48. Maxine7 says:

I live in NYC and I was actually surprised by the amount of coverage they received especially since we’re dealing with the Eric Garner case here. In fact, there was a TON of coverage of them Monday night when they went to the Nets game specifically because the protestors were protesting in front of the Barclay Center BECAUSE they knew Kate and William were in attendance. So I can’t speak for the rest of the country by they received a lot of coverage in NY which was intertwined with the protests.

I’d like to hear more from someone in the UK about the bad press they received post trip. That we haven’t heard a lot about.

    • carisel says:

      Maxine,

I live in LA, and I only found out about them being in the country after the fact. I think the coverage was localized. I did go to a big protest here on Friday night. Garner and the Ferguson case are all anybody is talking about here at the moment.

  49. PJ says:

I’m guessing that “Spanish nanny” (ugh) took the pictures. She certainly has a much closer and significant relationship with him than anyone else on the payroll and is with him whenever his parents are not and regularly when they are. Why wouldn’t it have been Maria? I mean, who else could get those awesome reactions out of him? Clearly little G is very comfortable with whoever the photog is 😊

As an aside, though I am thrilled to see happy new pics of the little guy, I immediately though “Sweet baby George is a big boy now!” Feels like it happened overnight just because we, the public, haven’t seen him in so long. Sigh. Long gone are the chubby legs and drooly grin. Lol. Someone is definitely a full fledged toddler now!

  50. Janet says:

Those photos give me a terminal case of the awwwww’s. He’s adorable.

  51. DTX says:

As Americans, why do we care about the British royals??? It’s stupid the amount of coverage they get. I am sure our founding fathers would have been appalled if they saw our fixation on them.

  52. Amy says:

That little sweater he is wearing is precious! Aren’t those the Buckingham Palace guards on them?

As for the negative backlash–did they really have to come to New York? Not really, the US is not part of the Kingdom of England. It would have made more sense had they gone to Vancouver or Toronto or somewhere in Canada. But I can’t blame them, NYC is cooler! (Just kidding…. well kind of).

  53. MyLittlePony says:

PGtips rules already – he is absolutely adorable! But I wish W&K were less fussy about the amount of publicity he gets. He is precious of course, but so is, say, Princess Estelle of Sweden, and every other royal child, or any child for that matter. The young European royal families simply seem to have a very normal attitude towards the media and the exposure their children receive. Why is it that W&K are making such a fuss about George and the media, and then obviously “use” him to patch it up when the press is turning against them? All this makes me a little bit sad :/

I think the public are beginning to see what kind of man William is. Many people have said that he is too like his father, which is becoming more apparent. He hates the press as he blames them for the death of his mother but he needs to grow a pair and deal with them in an adult like manor – not as a spoilt brat who tries to control them. As for Princess Stepford, she needs to get some friends and spend less time shopping, etc.. and more time proving that she wants to use her position to make a positive impact.

These 2 are fast becoming the Duke and Duchess of Windsor of the modern age. I just wish PW will step aside – he clearly doesn’t want to be King. Personally I don’t think this marriage will last – it will go the same way his parents did; with them both hating each other. He will have affairs and she will make the most of the wealth and privilege (while her family milk it for their own gain).

Well, the Windsors have crossed my mind too when it comes to these two 😀

I kind of get the feeling that both William and Kate are just incredibly immature for their age acting mostly as if they were a pair of 20+ year olds instead of a 30+ married couple with a growing family… One public faux pas after another far too often.

Charles has his weaknesses, but I’ve always thought of him as doing something of value as the Prince of Wales. I’ve never really thought of him as lazy, even when he was talking to his plants. And does seem to have that bearing that makes me take him seriously when he discusses issues that are important to him. William may not have inherited any of Diana’s gifts, but I don’t think he got any from Charles either (who does have some strengths).

“He hates the press as he blames them for the death of his mother” William has hated the press from day one. Multiple stories out there about this through his childhood. Does he also blame the press for the death of his mother, probably, but this is a life-long obsession with hating the press that didn’t start with her death.

I agree, Charles has weaknesses and many strengths.

Brown eyes are actually dominant over blue and hazel, if I remember correctly. There is a higher tendency for brown to appear even when both parents have lighter eyes, when it is somewhere in the genetic makeup (which it always is, since light eyes are more rare in general)

That reminds me: my dad had blue eyes, mom hazel, one of both grandma/granpda had light blue eyes… and me and my sister have brown-black hair and brown-black eyes. Bitter chocholate color 🙂

These pictures remind me of a picture of his grandmother Diana as a toddler especially the round, rosy cheeks

Love his chubby pink cheeks. That’s the way my dad had done his own hair for 65 years. Not every kid is adorable. Blue Ivy is not. Maybe if Nori is dressed better, she’ll be. George’s outfit is very cute. When I see all these kids grow up so fast, I try to forget I’m getting older too
