Henry Cavill’s black & white Akita is named Kal-El & he’s a service dog?

FFN_Cavill_Henry_VAH_BJJ_011615_51628456

OMG. Look at that beautiful dog!!!! Henry Cavill was photographed at LAX a few days ago with his service dog. Why does he need a service dog? I’m not sure. Sources say the dog is an Akita. Apparently, this is the same dog he bought from an Akita breeder in Arkansas last year, and there’s a rumor that the puppy’s name is Kal-El. For real?! I love the puppy’s coloring – my dog is all black, and I love that look of a black puppy face. They look like bear cubs. Kal-El has beautiful white legs though, and a black-and-white tail. Gorgeous. Kal-El also looks like he’s going to find some trouble at the airport.

As we discussed back in December, it seems like Henry and Gina Carano split up again. There were some sketchy rumors that he was dating a 21 year old chica who liked to post lots of ridiculous “brag” statements about how much she loved to kill animals. But more than a week ago, Henry was also seen leaving an event in LA in the same car as Paris Hilton. Yes, that Paris Hilton. So is it on? Sources told The Daily Mirror that something happened:

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No… it’s Paris Hilton and Superman hunk Henry Cavill. The unlikely couple are ON, it would seem – just a month after British actor Henry split from his girlfriend, actress Gina Carano.

The dashingly handsome Man of Steel star, who also starred in The Tudors, sent tongues wagging when he was pictured partying with heiress Paris at a pre-Globes party on Friday night and leaving in a taxi with the star. And sources say the two really did hit it off.

We’re told by a source at the bash: “Henry and Paris had a great time together on Friday night, and left the Chateau Marmont together, giggling like schoolkids. Everyone could see the chemistry between them. Paris was fluttering her eyelashes at him like crazy and Henry was loving the attention.”

Asked about their hookup at the BAFTA tea party over the weekend, 31-year-old Henry said: “I don’t want to discuss that.”

[From The Daily Mirror]

Yeah, I think at this point, every man knows that he should never publicly confirm anything with Paris Hilton. What’s up with Henry’s taste in ladies? The Kaley Cuoco thing was just out-of-nowhere, but then to maybe hookup with Paris Hilton? What is this, 2004?

Two more pieces of Cavill news – he told Variety that Batman v. Superman will just be one film – there was a rumor going around that it would be split into two films, but Henry says that’s not happening. Second piece of news: Henry had special “coins” made for the crew of Batman v. Superman as wrap gifts. You can see them here.

I heard it was an “emotional support dog”. Maybe he’s afraid to fly? Or maybe he just had his doctor write a note saying he was so he could fly with his dog…

    • Zip says:

      Best trick ever! 🙂

      • bettyrose says:

People do it all the time and it creates real problems because many so-called service dogs don’t have any specialized training, unlike official guide dogs.

      • lemon says:

It’s actually not so great. Mt friend raises puppies for a guide dog organization. What’s happening is that people are lying about their untrained dogs being service dogs and the dogs do normal dog stuff like bark, jump on people, piss, and business owners are starting to refuse real well trained service dogs for people with disabilities. (Even though it’s illegal.)

If you want to bring a dog on a plane get a purse dog.

      • Zip says:

I was being sarcastic (didn’t work 😉 ). Actually, I think this is ridiculous.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

What’s going on with Henry’s hair, it looks Odd, is he thinning out on top?

    • julia says:

I hpoe this explain the thing:

      lolol

      cute dog, cute owner! ^_^

  2. jmho says:

You can see that it says emotional support dog in the last pic.

    • Esmom says:

Interesting, I’ve never heard of that.

Maybe the need for emotional support comes from hanging out with the likes of Paris Hilton?? 🙂

    • QQ says:

I’m going to get my dogs those little Jackets IMMEDIATELY so they can come support me in All my endeavors

    • Yeah says:

people apparently don’t like to read

    • Ally8 says:

If you need an emotional support dog and travel often, then get a dog that fits in a bag that fits under the seat in front of you. This is extreme selfishness. I love dogs, but they don’t belong in a plane cabin unless you can clean up after them yourself.

      Otherwise you get these situations:
      http://www.ajc.com/news/travel/dog-diarrhea-forces-emergency-landing/ngBCD/

Get a tranquilizer instead (or in the case of celebrities, pay a shrink to travel with you) so the other 300 people on the plane don’t risk getting physically ill. Not to mention the people with allergies.

Plus the “Superman scared to fly” headlines write themselves. This guy is the second coming of Eric Bana: tall, dark and handsome and terminally uninteresting. I highly recommend the Honest Trailer for his first Superman movie, though; that was some violent crapfest (ha), apparently.

      • Olenna says:

Amen to all of this. Selfish and boring (x1000). Surprised more hasn’t been made of his aerophobia if that’s what it really is.

  3. LadyMTL says:

TMZ commented that maybe Cavill was trying to get the dog on the plane, because service dogs don’t need to go in cargo holds. (I know, the source is TMZ but still, it makes a weird kind of sense).

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I knew a guy who had documentation (that was untrue) that his golden retriever was a service dog in training so he could fly inside the plane. I don’t think it’s that hard to fool the airlines.

  4. Debra says:

From the pictures I saw, it looked like some kind of shuttle bus they were in. There were several other people there and Henry and Paris weren’t even sitting together. Plus, it looked like Paris was giving him the side-eye.. you should know if your behavior makes Paris Hilton give you a WTF look, you must be acting a fool… as for the dog, Henry’s been flying all over the world for years and all of a sudden he needs an emotional support dog? Seems fishy to me

    • Agree says:

They don’t want to report on the shuttle or post the vid of him outside the car that proves he wasn’t intoxicated as some have reported. Makes for a better story I suppose😉 and but he’s had the dog for good amount of time and the way mental health stigma is I doubt he would open himself up to this criticism if it wasn’t necessary.

    • julia says:

Paris is Corey Spears friend, and Corey is Henry’s friend, that’s the connection. I think they all met years ago.

  5. Lucy2 says:

Ew, Paris Hilton? Downgrade of epic proportions.
    The dog is beautiful.

  6. MoxyLady007 says:

Pets are great for reducing stress and stopping panic attacks. Maybe with all the stress and attention if fame, he has developed a panic disorder. They are horrible and can be crippling. If his dog helps him, more power to him.

    • Hellsbells says:

It can happen. I’ve flown all over, the first time I went on a plane was when I was 2 years old (I’m now 44). Then about fifteen years ago I just freaked out midway through a flight and since then have found it very difficult to fly (though I still do it, because it’s the only way until recently I got to see my family). So maybe it’s something he’s developed recently, poor guy. I think a lovely dog like that would be very helpful during a flight if you were feeling nervous 🙂

    • Erinn says:

That’s what I was thinking. It might even be a panic disorder in regards to flying. Hell, I know I need to be medicated to get on a plane. I always kind of wanted to look into getting our dog enough of the training levels to do some kind of therapy dog work. She’s not two yet (and I don’t think pointers are known for being all that quick to mature), and she’s a bit too high strung/excitable for it though. We’re looking into getting a rescued greyhound in the future though, so I might have to attempt with that, depending on the dog.

  7. MrsBPitt says:

Damn, I need an emotional support doggie to fly with! I HATE flying! Either that or a large jug of wine that says emotional support booze! I really loved Henry in The Tudors, and thought he would be perfect for Man of Steel…but that movie sucked BIG TIME…I tend to blame Zack Snyder, though, because I thought EVERYONE in it was horrible. The script was rediculous…It was a total fail, in my mind, and I don’t care how much money it made…ZACK SNYDER SUCKS!

    • Anna says:

I’ve watched two movies solely because of him as I was a huge fan of The Tudors and he either owes me some money back or my own support dog because man, those movies were serious stinkers. I’d honestly be kind of p==ed if he weren’t so pretty. =)

  8. epiphany says:

Hopefully it’s a service dog trained to sniff out classier girlfriends, because the women Henry finds on his own are…questionable.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Ha!

    • QQ says:

He must be a recent situation then OR a Lazy Puppy

      • Erinn says:

I’m going to go with Kal-El not having time to give a shit, ahha. Or maybe he IS weeding them out but can only do so much on his own. I saw the photos of him picking the dog up when it was still a pup, so it’s definitely not a recent situation.

  9. lisa2 says:

He looks so much better with this hair style and even the facial hair. He does nothing for me as Superman.
But he has woman hips.. I don’t get it. he is muscular but he still has a weird look in pants.

or maybe it is his feet look too small, I don’t know what it is.

  10. Marnie says:

I’d date him just so i could hang out with his dog.

  11. geekychick says:

Ah, you have a string of bad PR moments, the last one being a supposed animal lover who falls madly in love with a sadistic animal hunter-and surprise, surprise!-suddenly you have adorable puppy, hipster scruff and gosh! you need a service dog. And paps are here todocument it all. Who would have thought?? And the lumbersexual shirt was totally random, you guys! Nothing to see here, girls, just a man’s man, with a scruff and a too cute service dog!Sadistic animal hunter chica is sooooooooo last month. *wink, wink*
If this is what I think it is, and it stinks like a PR strategy to high heavens to me, I find it despicable. Cavill just can’t go any lower.
Service dogs are dogs that go through years of training in order to help and serve people with serious disabilities or disadvantages, at least in my part of Eu. All these other roles…they are not service dogs. Emotional support animal and a service dog are not one and the same. And to tag your animal as a service dog just so you could take it on the plane…no words.

    • Scarlet Vixen says:

He got the dog over a year ago. It was pretty well documented when he and Gina Carano bought the dog from the breeder. So, his getting the dog isn’t a “new PR move.”

And yes, Service Dogs & Emotional Support Animals are 2 different things, but both ‘can’ be legitimate things. Yes, some abuse the emotional support thing–it can be as simple as getting a Rx from your doctor or getting a certificate online–but many are on the up & up. If he suffers from panic attacks then his dog could be completely legitimate. We just went thru training on Service dogs in the library system I work for in the Midwest. We actually get alot of Service dogs in training because we’re a quiet and welcoming public space with stairs, elevators, automatic doors, etc which makes us ideal for training the pups.

I gotta say tho, that Cavill’s maybe needing a dog to fly makes me think of a bit a stand-up comedian once did about a woman on a flight needed their “emotional support cat” in the seat next to her. He said that he should then get to have his “emotion support” animal–Drinky the Squirrel who wears a ripped tank-top that says “Cancun ’94” instead of a service vest.

      • geekychick says:

…”Service dogs are dogs that go through years of training in order to help and serve people with serious disabilities or disadvantages, at least in my part of Eu. All these other roles…they are not service dogs. Emotional support animal and a service dog are not one and the same.”

I have nothing against emotional support dogs-nothing. For those who truly need it, I’m glad they figured a healthy way to cope with a help from a noble being. BUT, my husband’s BF is a therapist for special needs children (the actual term is far more fancy, but I don’t know how to translate it in English, sorry): he went through three years of education about service dogs. His dog went through two years of education and strict training: the dog works (yes, wotrks) 12 hours a day with disadvantaged kids; he has only a couple more years of work left, due to the toll the work therapy takes on the dogs hips, knees and so on. They get “paycheck” and retirement, but they are truly animal angels that “spend” their health on helping humans. those are true SERVICE DOGS. Emotional support dogs are not service dogs.

And I still stand by my feeling that this is a PR ploy to make him more sympathethic after Ebola Hilton assoiciation and his previous hook up. Guess I was wrong bout the dog. Good thing his previous chick didn’t practice on his animals. As an animal lover, I would have a problem being associated with that kind of people, but hey! Obviously not all animal lovers are alike, so to each his own.

And I agree with your last paragraph completely.

      • Erinn says:

I’m in the middle of this one.

This is on the Canadian service dog website:

“Emotional Support Animals benefit their owner by providing companionship, comfort, and emotional support. They need not be trained skills to support a disability. In fact it can be difficult to differentiate between an Emotional Support Animal and a pet/companion animal. Ultimately it comes down to the fact that the owner is impaired by some form of mental illness or psychiatric disorder but is not fully disabled by their condition. For this reason they may benefit from the presence of an emotional support animal in their life, however it is not necessary for the animal to accompany the owner in public. Benefits to having an animal recognized officially as an Emotional Support Animal may include issues pertaining to residence or accommodation such as in the case of a rental housing. The law surrounding ESAs quite vague though and anyone challenging a dispute may have their work cut out for them. ”

The Canadian Service Dog people actually prefer to pair Devon Rex cats for those wanting ESA’s. They do however, sometimes match up dogs that were being trained for the service dog program who just couldn’t make the cut. They do a lot of testing and training for any ESA that they match up, though I don’t think it’s NECESSARY to do to be qualified. But given that they’re a service that matches up animals to people, it makes sense that they go through a large process.

      • julia says:

I think it is and it was from the beginning HIS dog and no one else lol

  12. Talie says:

I was so intrigued when I saw on The Daily Mail that he had a service dog. Panic issues seem to be the most likely cause — although, I’m sure he’ll explain it in an interview.

  13. leigh says:

This is somewhat common here in LA. I know a couple of people who have gotten their dogs
this certified as service animals primarily so they could take them on planes and pretty much anyplace, else without the normal restrictions. People love their dogs.

  14. Tig says:

Yeah, I just assumed he didn’t want his pup to fly in a cargo bin. The “emotional support animal” is not such an usual way to avoid the dreaded cargo hold. If airlines had done a better job caring for animals, they would not be dealing with this issue at all.

Henry- what has happened to you? I think there is a good actor in there- he just so needs better roles. His and Ben A’s press tour should be interesting. I don’t see Ben A cheerfully fielding endless questions re “so how did you get so ripped?”

  15. Decorative Item says:

Akitas are the hardest dogs to train. And, they do not get along well with other dogs, especially the males. They are beautiful, but are a real handful. Yes, there are always exceptions to the rule, but generally speaking they have a difficult nature. They are a Japanese breed and were originally trained to guard the outside of temples.
As far as this being an emotional support dog…maybe. But, it’s very easy to have your dog classified as an emotional support animal and loads of people do it so their dogs don’t have to ride in cargo. I would do the same to keep my dog out of cargo, so no judgment either way from me.

    • Eazypeazy says:

My uncle had these dogs(likely from the same breeder). I said had because he got rid of them when one almost killed his stepson and would have severed his arm if he hadn’t been so overweight.

      • Decorative Item says:

OH, GOD! Yeah, a friend of mine had one that chewed the leg off a neighbors dog. Very nasty business.

    • Learned One says:

We have had 4 Akitas and they are indeed a handful for the unexperienced Akita owner. Akitas, like any other fiercely loyal dog can be a difficult or a threat. German Sheps (GSDs), Rottweilers, Pitties – all are GREAT dogs when raised with love, positive reinforcement and a leader that they respect.

And last, one thing that makes Akitas a bit more of a challenge: they do not bark much. If you read up on them, they will not bark their heads off (my Lab/Shep shelter dog is a noisemaker) but the Akita is very regal and stands guard. When he makes noise, I KNOW there is something to pay attention to!

      • Decorative Item says:

Completely agree! You must know the breed well and be willing to put the time and effort into them. That’s why I wrote what I did, they are a beautiful dog, (had one myself) but they are not for everyone.

    • Orangezest says:

I hate the prejudice against Akitas. Yes, they are more stubborn than a Lab or a Maltese, but as long as you put a tiniest bit of effort in their socialization and training, they will be the kindest and most loyal dogs you can imagine. The problem is the fact that they are beautiful and cute and people get them without thinking twice. You can’t get an extremely smart animal an expect that it’ll act like a plush toy if you don’t get it to respect you. If you’re too lazy to do that, get a turtle.

  16. kri says:

Superman is afraid to fly?!? OMG , in the next movie they should totally have that dog strapped to Cavill’s back when he takes to the air. That would true cinema verite! YASSSSSSSSSSSS! That dog is a total star. Move over, Choupette.

  17. Beth says:

Wow, he looks WAY better with scruff and grime. Looks less like a straight, boring Matt Bomer and more like a sexy bloke. I’ve never found him sexy, but I’m actually digging this.

  18. eribra says:

Have you seen how many dogs the airlines have lost or killed? I wouldn’t let my dog fly unless he was in the seat next to me. Luckily I rarely have to fly cause my dog is a puppy and completely untrained so no way would he pad as anything close to a service dog.

  19. RobN says:

You can buy that service vest online without any kind of doctor’s note. If it’s just a b.s. scam to fly with his dog, it’s appalling. It’s not clever, it’s not cute. ADA rules are there for a reason and it’s not to allow free access for celebrities to fly with their pets.

Akitas are an extremely dominant dog, frequently not good with strangers or other dogs. It’s a less than ideal service dog and not used by organizations that generally provide them, for just that reason.

    • Tippy says:

It’s a poor choice as a ” service animal ” and he appears to be having difficulty controlling the dog on the sidewalk.

Most likely just a pet and personal protection dog.

  20. Ferdinand says:

Is it just me or it seems like Henry might be going bald? It’s been catching my attention from the last few months or so.

  21. pato says:

oh Henry, go back to England and star in good movies or series. Tinseltown is not for you sweetie. I used to like him a lot, he´s a good actor behind all the muscle.

  22. Nicole says:

Maybe he has lovemesomeskankitous and the dog is trained to attack at the sight of fluttering 3 inch eyelashes.
