New cover of OK!: Shiloh and Suri’s playdate, but where is Zahara?

The latest cover of OK! features a mashup photo of celebrity babies Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise with the details about their supposed playdate as if it has already come to pass. According to the teaser article on OK!’s website, the playdate is just a planned one, and it may be nothing more than a “let’s do lunch” type comment between their high-powered parents. What’s more is that Zahara is of course supposedly invited too, but OK! didn’t see fit to include her in the title or cover story:

Film committments brought A-listers Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie to NYC — but the working moms’ most important project in Manhattan is coordinating a playdate between their toddlers!

“Katie loves entertaining and spoke to Angelina about having an at-home tea party with cupcakes for the girls,” a friend of Katie’s tells OK!. “It’s something she has wanted to do for ages,” adds another source close to the actress. “Because of security reasons, Katie can’t have just any child over to her home. But with celebrity tots like Shiloh and Zahara, there’s no problem.”

Plans for their “mini-meeting” began on Jan. 11 in L.A., when Katie and her husband, Tom Cruise, chatted with Angie and her partner, Brad Pitt, at a private Golden Globes afterparty thrown by CAA at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Of course Tom, 46, and Brad, 45, are hardly strangers. The two co-starred in the 1994 vampire flick, Interview With a Vampire, but lost touch over the years.

“Since the film, their careers and social circles have become so different, they rarely see each other,” explains the source. But the two men acted like old friends that night. “Both talked at length about their children,” adds the source, “and they agreed to get their little girls together.”

There may be another reason for the playdate too. Katie desperately wants to introduce Suri to other children her age. While the toddler has adopted siblings Connor, 14, and Isabella, 16, to play with, the teens are much older. “Suri’s a very shy young lady,” a Cruise insider tells OK!. “Even when Tom or Katie have taken her to a park or beach and tried to introduce her to other kids for a little playtime, it hasn’t worked. She’s very clingy.”

“Katie told Angelina she just knew Suri and Shiloh are going to get along fantastically well,” says the insider, “and Suri is already getting into the idea.”

[From OK! Magazine]

It’s doubtful this will ever come to pass or if their parents even had this conversation. I bet all OK! knows is that the couples were at the same place at the same time, and this imaginary playdate was born. According to this article, Zahara is of course invited too, but she’s like an afterthought to OK! You realize that it’s harder to cram three kids onto a cover, especially when you have to painstakingly use the pen tool in Photoshop to make it look like they’re at the same place at the same time, but it’s kind of rude to Princess Z not to include her.

Do these kiddie cover stories move magazines? According to Cover Awards, it’s not a “strong topic,” but the glossies keep using it for some reason.

This is just like another cover OK did that said “we’re big girls now!” In light of that cover, and that these two were born so close, I don’t think it’s odd that Z was excluded. She’ll probably be getting her OWN mag covers in her own time, if she so chooses.

But Celebitchy, you do know that the black kid is not important, because as a black person, I only want to buy magazines with white ppl on the cover(Sarcasm). And as far as adding another person on the cover, they could’ve just used the picture with both Princess Z and Shiloh in the same shot, there’s plenty to choose from.

  3. sdg says:

Wow OK is very good at thinking headline cover ideas, eh?

“Because of security reasons, Katie can’t have just any child over to her home. But with celebrity tots like Shiloh and Zahara, there’s no problem.”

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the crazy frosting on the insanity cake.

  5. big wooden spoon says:

Brangelina never sold pics of Zahara, but they pimped out Shiloh, so they obviously think she’s got higher “celebrity” value too.

  6. hmm says:

It’s a race issue turth-SF? Seriously, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It’s 2009! Get with the program!

  7. Kaiser says:

They didn’t put Zahara on the cover because the Empress’s minions already declined the invite.

The Empress does not roll with Xenu.

  8. geronimo says:

Good point, kaiser, she’s got her reputation to think about. 🙂

  9. raven says:

I remember stories of when Cruise and Pitt worked together. I understood that they did not get along well at all and that Cruise disliked Pitt. I doubt these kids are getting together at all. Furthermore, what would Angie have to say to Katie?

  10. Lem says:

@ M.I.: yeah that stuck out
@ raven: Angie could teach Katie to throw knifes for when Katie eventually snaps

  11. becca says:

    Kaiser: ROTFL

  12. Sarah says:

This picture looks photoshopped to me. I can’t imagine Angelina and Katie getting along at all. This is just a way to sell OK! magazine.

  13. turth-SF says:

Sorry hmmm, I stay out of the program. But to answer your question, it’s not a race issue for me or for most of americans i’m sure, but obviously OK! seems to think that the bio-kids are way more important than the adopted ones, on both sides, Tomkat & Brangelina.

  14. turth-SF says:

lol @ kaiser, can you imagine the wrath Tomkat would get from miss Z if they try any of their Xenu spell on her or her sister.

  15. becca says:

Although I do love the obvious comment. Suri’s shy when it comes to kids her age? No sh*t sherlock. When you’re in a Stepford household like that with your moves photographed since before you could crawl, you’re going to have a messed up mentality and anxiety issues when it comes to your parents, more so than the average tot.

  16. Bodhi says:

I call bullshit. I can’t imagine Tom allowing Kat(ie) to talk to Angie in the first place!

  17. Baholicious says:

I wish they’d get that child’s hair out of her eyes!

  18. lrm says:

turth-sf;well then it’s an adopted vs. biological issue, isn’t it? not b/c Z is black!!!
Get your perspective straight when communicating it…
I bet if Z. was white, but adopted, she also would be discounted by the media, which is not the same thing as being discounted by her parents and family.
The media chooses this stuff. And chooses how they present it to us.

  19. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

    A) I doubt VERY seriously that there was a playdate at all. Full stop.

    B) Does every child have to be in every picture or it’s not legit? That makes no sense.

But anyway, I’m left with A–this playdate never took place, anyway, so no worries. I really don’t see Brad and Angelina being racist and excluding their African daughter, sheesh.

  20. guest says:

zahara obviously cannot be bothered with such trivial matters. girl’s got game.

  21. Jill says:

“Mommy news”? Barf. Like Katie and Angelina have nothing else going on. Angelina’s filming and Katie’s… well, Katie’s getting indoctrinated?

  22. jess says:

zahara is too old to be going on playdates with girls shiloh and suri’s age. just cuz she’s a girl, she doesnt have to be included. i would have died if i had to go on playdates with my little sister.

  23. jess says:

also…for 2 kids that are supposed to be nearly the same age, there sure is a startling difference between the two isnt there? shiloh still has her chubby cheeks and toddler tummy…suri has neither it looks like…

hmm adds fuel to the rumor that suri was born much sooner than they led on

  24. Baholicious says:

That makes sense Jess as to why her public appearance took so long, she was in an incubator. I’d never heard that rumour btw.

  25. DD says:

holy! almost every story on the cover revolves around the life of a child. Pathetic.

  26. Nony says:

I have a hard time believing Katie and Angeline would ever do more than polite chit-chat..

    – Tom would defitely Not Approve Katie bonding with a freestyle thinker like Angelina. Katie might get ideas about things besides shopping.

    – Angelina would be impossible to control by the scientology handlers, and therefore Not Allowed.

    – I think Angelina would consider Katie boring as hell

    – The Pitt-Jolie’s are way too image-conscious and savvy to make the mistake of falling in with the Xenu crowd.

I think Cruise and Miscabbage are salviating at the thought of drawing the Pitt-Jolie family into the cult, but.. no way.

    Kaiser,

    Your response was priceless!!!
