I always think it’s funny when someone I “love to hate” shows up and I give them the benefit of the doubt or I flat-out like their look, and everyone yells at me for not hating it. That’s what happened with Jennifer Aniston – I genuinely liked her Versace, even though most people believed I should loathe it. And I’m sure it will happen again with Gwyneth Paltrow and her Oscar gown: she wore Ralph & Russo Couture with a big floral arrangement on one shoulder. You know what? I LIKE IT.
The dress reminds me of something although I haven’t been able to place the reference. (Oh, I just got it: Angelina Jolie did the shoulder-flower Ralph & Russo years ago.) I feel like Goop is referencing her own Oscar-winning moment with the color, right? Gwyneth famously wore that cotton-candy pink Ralph Lauren and I feel like this petal-pink shade is a throwback to that. One thing I’ll give the critics: her hair was not the best. But at least she didn’t do a flat-ironed center part, eh?
People were complaining about her jewelry too. PEASANTS!!! Gwyneth got paid to wear Anna Hu jewelry – the $425,000 earrings were cabochon Rubellites with white and yellow diamonds, plus sapphires and tourmalines. She also wore a ring made of “rare 6.27-carat pigeon-blood Burmese ruby, pink diamonds and brilliant-cut white diamonds, set in rose and white gold.”
And here’s Gwyneth’s BFF (in her mind) Beyonce, at the Vanity Fair party. Beyonce wore Stella McCartney (the dress) with a J. Mendel white fox bolero. I don’t hate the Stella dress, but I’m pretty sure Sam Taylor Johnson already wore it during the Fifty Shades promotional tour.

I thought Gwynneth looked good but I am starting to get distracted by all the sun damage done to her face. Yikes.
I know. I’m 20 years older than her and I want to take her aside and give her a stern lecture about sunblock.
+100. The sun damage to her décolletage and face is as distracting as it is puzzling. Her mom clearly knows about proper SPF application. Goop looks nice, but I’m left wondering why she couldn’t have touted some snootily priced sunblock in the past 15 years.
I know, right? I am about 10 years older than GP and I look 10 years younger!

It’s not just the sun damage, it’s the smoking that’s aging her. I cannot understand why someone who deigns to dole out advice to the peasants on eating right and exercising until you drop would kill their lungs and skin by smoking.

She smokes like a cigarette a week according to her so I hardly think it’s affecting her looks. She probably had a peel recently and didn’t allow enough time to heal.
The sun damage is really glaring in these pictures–I feel like usually her makeup artist does a better job, or maybe more photoshopping is done before the photos go out. Between the sun/smoking damage to her skin, and the fried blonde shade she’s working on her hair, Gwyneth is really not looking as good as you’d expect for her well-documented obsession with health!

STEL-LA! Would she have her own design house but for her pedigree? All her clothes-except the overpriced yogawear line-look like crap to me.
It kills me to say this, but Goopy looks really pretty. The slightly off-center part is so much more flattering and her hair doesn’t look as fried. Like the hair-swept-behind-the-ears look. Love, love, love the earrings. I’m not a fan of the big flower on the shoulder but the color is beautiful and the tailoring is perfect.
The soft pink is very 2002 but you know what? GOOP looks great in soft pink.

I know. And yeah, the earrings don’t really go with the dress but I’m a sucker for big statement earrings like that, and they look pretty with her simple hair.

I like the cut of the dress a lot on her- age appropriate but attractive. The length is really nice. I agree with Kaiser’s assessment about the color-it is a throw back to her Oscar win- but I don’t find it inappropriate or screaming, “Remember I won one of these statutes, too!” One thing that is a bit off about the look is her tan. I know she and Chris Martin spent Valentine’s Day on the beach, but on Goop, a little color goes a long way.
Am I the only peasant who disliked Gwyneth’s earrings? I don’t think they go with the dress, and I can’t imagine them anywhere really, except slithering around on the bottom of a deep ocean trench. So they’re “pigeon blood” rubies?! If you’re going to style something after birds, pigeons are as peasant-y as it gets. They could have gone for dove blood at least.
I thought the celebitches would hate this dress! Am I the only one who thought goop looked tacky? Cheap hair, fug jewels, rough makeup, and a silly dress? And I usually like what she wears…
And honestly, I don’t get how Ralph Russo is a couture designer. His designs always look silly and very first year fashion student to me.

I didn’t like her first cotton candy pink dress and I’m not sold on this one either. I will say something nice, the fit is great. I hated her hair and makeup but that’s nothing new. I thought the jewels were a bit much too. Bey looks every bit the regal lady with the fur and the gold shoes. But she looks squished up top with the cut of that dress.
I love the color and shape of Gwyneth’s dress. The dress fit her really well. But I didn’t think the jewelry matched AT ALL. Red rubies (that photograph looking orangey), yellow diamonds and a pale pink dress? Am I a peasant for thinking this?
Either statement jewelry or statement dress. Both is just too much. She already had the shoulder flower for attention, so small earrings would have worked better with this dress.
And why does Beyoncé always seem to stand like she has a broken hip? She did the same in some other dress recently and it just looks odd.

Hate to admit it but Goop looks great in that dress. It looks expensive as f*ck too, which is not always the case with Oscar fashion (inexplicably if you ask me). Bey looks great as well. Although the hair on these two ladies is … not great. And *side-eyes Goop* that Burmese ruby better not be new.
I have to admit the dress is growing on me (no pun intended). When she came out on stage my gut reaction was “meh…not liking the giant shoulder flower, and the earrings are too much”, but looking at the photos it doesn’t seem so bad. Not my favorite look of the night (not even close), but not terrible.
It’s so Gwyneth to reference her own iconic moment. I love her for that. That being said, I pretty much hate this dress. Baby pink is not my favorite color and the flowery shoulder looks like a freshly steamed vagina, which might have been her intention.

I am utterly annoyed by Goop on general principle, but begrudgingly I like the dress. My first reaction was “whats on her shoulder” ..but on second look, I decided I like it. But it is definitely a case of a flower wearing a dress. I mean it literally as Goop isn’t the flower.

Pretty and fresh, I like it. Fits perfectly, I even like the giant rose. But the blue eyeshadow I find wrong with it, as well as the juwelry. Some straight and simple silver/platinum might have been better.

I hated that look. The dress was ill fitting and looked like it needed a serious steaming it was so wrinkled. The hair was also a total horror.

I am skulking around today because I am the only one in my circle who liked GOOP’s dress. Everyone is disappointed in me. I am, too, but..I can’t help it. I liked it. Too much earring, though. Bey’s dress was ok. Her body looked great-it always does though.
Gwyneth’s earrings are amazing, but the dress…not so much. It wasn’t the worst for me, but I didn’t like it much either.
It would be so refreshing if Bey DIDN’T wear an awful wig or extensions. Let the scalp breathe!

I don´t understand her hair stylist. Why isn´t he honest? He isn´t blind so why doesn´t he tell her that she needs a more natural hair colour. There are so many shades of blonde. You don´t need yellow.
She had better dresses in the last few years, this one was OK but a bit meh compared to the black Tom Ford, in which I think she looked stunning, and esp the white TF she wore at the Oscars a few years back when she presented with her good friend RDJ.

I do think Gwennyth looks really pretty. In the first picture I didn’t care for Beyonce’s dress, but when I got a look at the shoes, the back of the dress, and the faux-fur thing, it saved the outfit from being totally boring.
Goopy looked pretty in pink. Her mottled hair color makes me think Jessica Seinfeld. Maybe those two had a drunken sleep over and dyed each others hair. Terrible!
I hate to admit to any positive thoughts about this self-righteous cow…but in a night of awful gowns, hers wasn’t too bad. A little David’s Bridal, but not ghastly. Fits her well.

Her skin is badly damaged, but it might be genetics too. I don’t remember her ever looking more tanned than the rest of celebrities. So I think it’s: genetics + her strict diet + sun
A very pretty dress but it seemed a little dated. Not a fan of the hair do a little bounce or soft curl suits her face better and her weird diet (miniscule amounts of fat and oil) has certainly left her with dried out prematurely aging skin, but on the whole she looked really good , classy and elegant, especially in comparison to many others.
