Miley Cyrus might give you Salmonella

I have long said I consider Miley Cyrus to be a danger to this country. Hell, to the whole world. There are so many things that are downright evil about that girl; I wouldn’t even know where to start. Actually, I think I’d start with the 16-year-old’s creepy relationship with 20-year-old boyfriend, Justin Gaston. And the fact that her entire celebrity is built on this Disney-wholesome image, yet she and her family make no attempt to hide that she’s dating this much older guy and they have sleepovers together. Or just that I find her insanely annoying.

So it comes as no surprise that Miley is trying to give us all Salmonella. I was sure she’d use some sort of bacterial foodborne illness to bring us to our knees so she could rise to power, and I was right. Or something.

Snacks from Miley Cyrus’ “Hannah Montana” food range have been pulled from shelves due to suspected salmonella contamination.

The 16-year-old’s Hannah Montana Chocolate Granola Bars have been withdrawn from stores over a peanut scare.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued the recall notice on Friday after officials discovered the snacks contained nut products which were part of the widespread peanut recall that hit the U.S. and Canada earlier this year.

[From the San Francisco Chronicle]

As much as I wish to see Miley get some flack over this – or at least get sent to her room (without a sleepover buddy to occupy her time), obviously she’s blameless. Unless you live in China. Someone wrote to E! News and asked if they could sue Miley if they got sick. The answer was pretty cool.

God, that would be fun, wouldn’t it? I mean, once you ceased to vomit your spleen out of your eye sockets. As amusing as the pretrial publicity would be—would she have to appear in wig?—the reality is, Miley Cyrus is pretty much bulletproof in this situation. She’s only a face on a package, not a peanut mogul or granola-bar maker. All that said, there’s always one exception to everything.

There is one way that Miley could, in fact, get dragged into court over offensive peanuts and sickening bar. It’s unlikely, but here goes… Do you live in China? That would help, says attorney Bill Marler, who represents victims in food-poisoning cases. “China has recently passed a law saying someone who becomes sickened from a product can sue someone who puts their name on the product or is part of the campaign for the product,” Marler tells me.

But in the U.S., Marler says, we have no such laws. “Your only recourse is against the people who made the granola bar,” Marler says, “and the company in Georgia that produced the peanuts.” In other words, unless Cyrus actually owns the facility that made the recalled item—in this case, a granola bar—her millions (or $1 billion in worth, if you believe the reports) is untouchable.

[From E!’s The Answer Bitch]

I pray, pray, pray that Miley Cyrus owns a peanut plant. I know the odds aren’t great, but I bet she’s got some random investments here and there, right? I’m just trying to protect myself in advance. You see, I have a serious peanut butter addiction. It is soul consuming. I have eaten so much peanut butter that it has given me severe digestive issues. And I’ve done it at least ten times (side note: after perusing the FDA’s website, I’ve easily eaten 7 out of 10 of the possibly tainted peanut butter items). No consequence gets in the way of me and some creamy peanut goodness. Salmonella, intestinal blockages – I don’t care, it’s absolutely worth it. But if I could potentially blame it on Miley Cyrus? That’s an actual incentive.

Why so harsh on Miley? She’s successful. So what? If you don’t like someone, you don’t purchase their products or go to their movies. No need to wish them ill. Live and let live.

  2. Because I Say So says:

C’mon Chinese consumers! Eat some granola bars and make many, many Americans happy with the resultant law-suits!

  3. Susan says:

    Exactly. Why so harsh?

FYI — our Assistant Pastor at our church started dating his now wife when he was 20 and she was 15. They had “dates” at her parent’s house, etc. They have been married almost 50 years and are wonderful people.

    Don’t judge.

Eh, seriously, I refuse to be anything but harsh when it comes to this chick. She is the representation of all that is wrong with the world, the embodiment of mind-numbing commercialism, and a horrible example to girls everywhere (obviously not really her job to be a role model, but she is a bad one nonetheless). Not to mention that she has an extremely undeserving sense of entitlement. Since I have to be exposed to her and her crappy products everywhere I turn, it’s pretty much impossible to ignore her, therefore, I feel entitled to express my discontent with her as I please.

Susan-That’s very interesting. I actually started dating my husband when I was 16 and he was 21. I think the outrage is that Mily leaks “sexy” photos out, half naked and then dates a twenty year old who supposedly lives with her. And all the while she is someone young girls look up to. I seriously doubt your Assistant Pastor and his girlfriend now-wife were pulling the stunts she does in the public eye (or at all)
I used to like her but come on! You know you’re in the media spotlight you should make wise decisons. I know it’s difficult to make them but she should have her parents guiding her instead of whoring her out.
Did anyone see the post at Dlisted where someone asked how they knew Miley was there and the Pap said “They called us!” lmao!

    Sorry, couldn’t help myself…

You know what, people are way to harsh on this kid. My grand daughter is 16 and graduated from high school early because she was skipped two grades. The boys in school were childish to her and she dates a college studen that is 20. They have classes together. He is a nice kid and they don’t stay out all night together or rent motel rooms and carrying like people are accusing this kid of doing. She may very well be dating a guy that is 20, but it doesn’t mean she is sleeping around or with him. Peop0le just have filthy minds. Some girls are mature enough to date guys older then they are. High school guys are usually immature and out for one thing, college guys have been thru the phase and are studying to have a future and are not interested in the game playing that high school boys are. ZI also doubt if Mileys parents are going to let her start shacking up at home with a guy. SHe is only 16 and just starting to spread her wings but it doent mean she is out there spreading her legs like you people want to think.

  12. Ana says:

We probably wouldn’t have filthy minds if this girl wouldn’t be taking pictures of herself in a wet t shirt in the shower. I bet your granddaughter isn’t doing that. Yea we are kind of harsh and I used to like her until she turned into another Disney slut.
Also, a lot of college guys are looking for a good time, your granddaughter may have found a good one…but I think she must have gotten lucky. And I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m trying to attack you or be mean but I think that your grand daughter is a lot different from Miley.
I think it’s about 3 percent of people that wait to have sex until after they are married? Who wants to bet that they’re not having sex with those odds……

  13. Aspen says:

No…I think the problem is actually that no one is being hard enough on her. I think they have been rough on her for the wrong things at times…but the other posters here pretty much summed up my disgust with her.

  14. the original kate says:

@ judy: i’m guessing the difference between your granddaoughter and miley is that your granddaughter sounds like a smart girl with a normal family. miley is an idiot (have you ever heard her speak? she can barely string two sentences together) and her parents are letting her run wild in hollywood. regardless of how smart or mature a 16 year old girl is, she still needs parental guidance, and miley’s parents are giving her none. i’m guessing your granddaughter’s parents would not let her boyfriend move in with her, either.
