I don’t like Girl Scout Cookies. I don’t think they taste that good.
*steels herself in anticipation of backlash*

    • boredblond says:

To each their own. I buy thin mints to hide in my freezer for all those ‘gotta have a cookie’ emergencies.

      • doofus says:

FYI, you can get those (and the “Samoas”) year round.

Keebler makes the cookies for the GS these days and they sell both of those as “Grasshoppers” and “Coconut Dreams”, respectively, under their own brand.

not the same as supporting the GS directly, but you get more per package and I think they’re a bit cheaper.

      • Tracy says:

Ooooooo……in the freezer! What a good idea.

      • FLORC says:

I buy the cookies year round for a fraction of the GS price and more cookies.

I do this mostly because the GS get very little from the sales.

    • mimif says:

@tater, OT but really nice comment on the Bruce Jenner post from Saturday. Made me proud of my little thot. ☺️

    • Heather says:

ITA Taterho! Girl Scout cookies = 😝 which is a good thing. I don’t need to be eatin no Girl Scout cookies:)

    • Nicolette says:

They don’t taste the way they used to. I’ll still buy a box or two just to support them, but they used to be so much better.

      • taterho says:

I think that’s why I don’t like them. I remember them tasting better when I was a Girl Scout.

      • Tiffany :) says:

I found out that there are really 2 different kinds. There are two companies that make the cookies, and depending on where you live, you get one or the other. The Thin Mints I had as a kid were VASTLY superior to the ones I can get now. The worse TMs have more of a flower shape and way less chocolate. I thought it was my palate becoming more advanced…turns out I am just getting the crappier versions of the cookies now. Boo!

    • Sugar says:

I don’t understand the love for Girl Scout cookies, either. They’re TERRIBLE. Does no one know what a homemade cookie tastes like?

    • Kris says:

I don’t either! I don’t get why everyone goes so crazy over them every year. BUT I was a Girl Scout and I hated selling them, maybe that’s why I don’t really like them today?

    • Kiddo says:

You’re un-amurican Tater. Nah, I pay for them and tell the kid to keep ’em. I guess they can sell them twice.

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

ITA. I’d rather have a bit of chocolate or a Skinny Cow ice cream sammich. ;-D

  2. tifzlan says:

I love multilingual people. I speak three languages, two native tongue and the other of limited working proficiency, and i wish i had taken up language classes when i was younger! It would’ve been much easier to pick up. I think ALL languages are beautiful and i love listening to them. I really want to know what Lisa Ling’s daughter speaks in addition to English!

    • DesertPoppy says:

I think Chinese, English and Korean. I saw another article where Lisa mentioned teaching her Chinese and her husband is Korean. I went googling because they didn’t include this in the article.

    • Cankles says:

I do, too. I’m always so envious of multilingual people. I live in a pretty mono-lingual country, and I am trying now (in my 20s) to learn French. It is NOT easy, but I’m sticking with it!

    • oneshot says:

It’s easiest to pick up languages when you are a little kid, which explains how I ended up in a similar situation to Lisa Ling’s daughter, only I didn’t start learning English until I went to school. Kids just pick up words and phrases a lot easier than we do, and do it pretty instinctively too.

      • jwoolman says:

The brain is quite flexible about language learning in the early years, although that begins to slow down around ten. That’s why often people who come to a new country after that age may become quite fluent in the new language but often retain some accent due to interference from their first language. Full adults have a lot more trouble picking up an active speaking/writing knowledge of the new language, although they may be able to understand written and spoken language all right. Growing up with two or more languages can help keep the brain flexible, however, so adding languages even as adults can come more easily.

Children lose languages as easily as they acquire them when not continuously exposed, but the old language can be resurrected with practice if needed since the knowledge is buried somewhere. But commonly bilingual children are not completely bilingual, since their vocabularies are typically tied only to the context in which they use the language. They might be able to chat about family issues in one language, but can’t talk about science or history except in the language of their schooling.

Small children also pick up languages fast because they have very limited vocabularies and very simple needs for expression. Think about the average two year old’s language skills before being too impressed by one being trilingual. Adults have much more complicated needs and huge vocabularies plus many years of experience in their first language to interfere. Plus adults have a lot more on their minds to distract them.

    • FLORC says:

Being young and constantly absorbing that information is key to learning new languages. I’m multilingual as well and enjoy getting the chance to use them.

At some point I was told around age 13 you will be stuck with whatever accent you have. No changing it past that point. And if you’re multi lingual it makes from some awesome accents.

    • Ange says:

I learned a second language all through high school and can still speak it a bit now. I recently went to the country and it was so gratifying being able to converse a little bit even after all that time, I couldn’t imagine not having that. Here we now teach kids a second language in primary school and they can continue through high school if they choose, like I did. I think it’s a great thing.

  3. Indira says:

Noooooo! Jennifer Morrison is perfect! I don’t care what she wears, she’s brilliant on Once.

  4. Abbott says:

I’m afraid for Sansa. Maybe this is the way Reek can redeem himself?

    • paola says:

At this point I really think Theon is f-ed up for good.

      • mimif says:

Theon is totally f-cked, there is no going back for him. And Roose really is a vampire! Have you ever seen that dude eat?? No. And my money is on Sansa; I know she’s Little Weenie’s* puppet right now, but she’s really starting to show some strength. I love how her character has been developing and I hope she crucifies the Boltons. I thought that was a really strong episode and NO DANY YAY!

        *sorry for weenie shaming, marc

  5. manda says:

the vogue festival looks very un-fabulous

  6. paola says:

Poor snake. I would have bitten him too. He just got what he deserved.

Is Sansa smart enough to get revenge from the inside though?
She seems so dumb to me and in my list she is the most disposable one. I know she’s a Stark but luck is the only reason she’s still alive.

    • Abbott says:

Do you really think Littlefinger doesn’t know what Ramsay is capable of?

      • paola says:

of course he knows. The Boltons are famous for flaying people.. and it seems like all the people know what Ramsay is up to.
Little finger is a slithering bastard. I hope all this manipulation will backfire against him.
if it wasn’t for little finger we wouldn’t have a story. He started everything.

      • Abbott says:

What do you think Littlefinger is up to with this Winterfell plan? I read this storyline diverges from the books?

      • mimif says:

I think LF wants Sansa to reclaim Winterfell, destroy the Boltons (perhaps with Jon’s help) and then take her for himself. However, I think he’s highly underestimating what she’s capable of, and in the end he will get his commeupance just as paola suggested.

Also read a crazy ass theory that the Faceless Men & the Boltons have some long buried associations (flaying) that might play out in future episodes. *adjusts tin foil hat*

      • paola says:

Oh my god I have no idea.
I really can’t see what Little finger’s plan is.
        What do you suggest Abbott?

      • Abbott says:

No clue. I can tell you what I hope to happen; uprising in Winterfell, Brienne helps lead the charge, Littlefinger gets pushed to his death out of a window (ala moondoor), Reek’s dying act is saving Sansa (I know, I know guys), and Sansa thus becomes Winterfell HBIC.

What do you think? I thought Littlefinger loved Sansa too much to set her up like that, but I guess he loves power more?

ETA: But Stannis is headed that way. Maybe LF knows this and realizes Sansa won’t have to be with Ramsay for long. And he’ll get his revenge for Catelyn’s death. He’s Lord of the Vale, Sansa will be the HBIC of Winterfell, and they’ll have the *protection* of Stannis’ army? I don’t know anymore!!!

      • paola says:

no no. i want Little finger at least burnt alive! being pushed out of a window is not enough.
i hope Sansa will grow some balls in the meantime.. she seems the Lady of dumbassery more than Lady of Winterfell

      • mimif says:

Sansa is Catelyn personified to LF, IMO, therefore ultimately I really do think he has her best interests at heart (even if those interests ultimately behoove him). He’s not selling her down the river, he’s setting her up to take over, and Roose is wise to distrust him (for that reason).
@paola, Sansa is sprouting balls, I swear I saw a little pair growing last night!! 😀

      • paola says:

I don’t want to spoli it for you.. but next episode is AMAZING.

      • mimif says:

        REBELLION: I can’t wait!

  7. Maryjones says:

You losers need to get a life geesh. Do you ever leave the house?

    • paola says:

and you’re writing this from where exactly?

    • taterho says:

No, we never leave the house.
And the funny thing is we’re all in the same house.
      Laundry day is a bitch.

    • mimif says:

Maryjones you have got to meet marc! I think you two would get along fabulously.

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

Ha! When I first read her comment before scrolling to yours, my first thought was that this *was* marc ( lowercase m intended).

    • JenniferJustice says:

Who blogs on these threads from home? I thought we were all suppose to be “working.” Or is that just me?

      • paola says:

i’m actually writing from home because it’s 8pm on my side of the world!!! but yeah.. sometimes I do it from work too !

    • mia girl says:

      Excuse you?
I’ll have you know that just last week I was contributing from 30,000 miles up in the air.
I was on my way to and from a very important business meeting*

*truth is I was just trying to avoid laundry day at our shared house. Taterho is a task master and makes me fold all the clothes!

      • taterho says:

Ya, but I always let you have the purple dauber on Bingo night!

        Ingrates, the lot of you!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Because only winners take them time to write a post telling everybody else they’re losers.

    • Ange says:

I would leave the house but the cats never let me. Plus I have to wash all their little outfits, it’s a full time job.

  8. Nicole says:

Uuug. I hate what they’ve done to Kate Upton in those horrible game ads. She looks awful. I was hoping it was some sort of knock off Kate Upton. Beginning to think she’s got no taste or no sense.

    • briargal says:

You are thinking correctly when you say she has no taste or sense. None what so ever!!!

  9. paola says:

mimif we have to discuss GoT!
    manifest yourself 😀

    • mimif says:

I KNOW! Crazy busy day and I’m dying to discuss. I loved last night’s episode so much!!

      • paola says:

Finally!! I’m baffled at how different things are getting from the books.
        I mean… Sansa with Ramsay????
I loved Brienne’s story and I hope she’ll be the one to put Ramsay on a spitroast.

And about Lord Bolton, I think his eyes belong to a White Walker. I bet he has white walkers’ blood running in his veins.

I can’t believe there’s more religious bullshit now in King’s Landing.

      • mimif says:

Roose’s eyes definitely looked…off, or super shiny or, he’s just so creepy. Can’t even with Ramsey, he’s so gross and did you catch that look on his consort’s face when Sansa showed up? Gonna be trouble there. Also, how bout that scene between Margaery & Cersei? Talk about equal opponents, although it’s clear that Cersei is slipping ground big time. Oh, so many observations! Loved Jon Snow in this episode too, little bastard black finally got his cojones. 😀

      • paola says:

It just seems like the cool people have left King’s Landing and just the boring ones remained. Cersei is underestimating Margaery as well and Tommen… oh my… poor Tommen. He has no idea. He really thinks being a king is all about fancy food and glittery clothes.

I am loving Jon Snow. He really is a badass now.

I can’t wait to see what happens with Sansa and Ramsay. Maybe he’ll be able to keep his deviancies at bay since she’s frome a noble family.

      • mimif says:

It would be interesting if he legit fell for Sansa and she tempered Ramsey, although he is a true sociopath so…that’s debatable.mYou’re right about King’s Landing, although I do think Margery underestimates Cersei as well. And yeah, Tommen is toast. Absolutely no interest in the Sparrow/High Septon arc at all, although I wonder wth Cersei would want the Sparrow’s help. Oh and what about Qyburn and his “creation”? *shudders* Okay, I’m totally rambling now but I expect to do this again after next week’s episode, my friend paola across the pond!

      • Abbott says:

King’s Landing is going to get boring but Cersei has more personality in one eye brow life than anything going on in Mereen.

      • paola says:

I think Qyburn is ‘creating’ a new warrior using the Mountain’s body and that dwarf’s head.
        *shivers down my spine*

  10. Amy says:

Whatever luck got this girl a modeling contract she better find a way to stretch it as long as possible because she grows more unremarkable with every outfit.

    Sheesh…

  11. Falula says:

I teared up for Needle, too. And several other times this episode, actually. The whole thing had a really tense tone.

  12. silken_floss says:

Lainey has it wrong. That’s not Winterfell where Sansa is now, that’s Moat Cailin

    • Seán says:

      @silken_floss

Nope, they’re at Winterfell. Littlefinger and Sansa just stopped at Moat Cailin so that Petyr could reveal to Sansa that they were heading North (Moat Cailin is the entrance to The North) and back home to Winterfell. It’s been established that the Boltons and Theon are at Winterfell and that’s where Sansa and Littlefinger arrive. The servant also wishes Sansa a welcome home.

  13. jferber says:

Yes, her outfit sucked, but she is a remarkably pretty girl.

    • briargal says:

Just like a bazillion other females. Nothing exceptional if you eliminate the boobs.

    • FLORC says:

She’s pretty, but not remarkable. Her chest and trying to market herself as “curvy” is what helped her stand out from the pack.
