Angelina Jolie is a goth soccer mom & she didn’t bring healthy snacks

wenn22444615

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s two oldest daughters, Zahara and Shiloh, are doing Little League soccer this year. And it’s amazing. I get the feeling that Z and Shi are really great little soccer players, and I love the idea that Brad is a soccer dad and Angelina is a soccer mom. Plus, it’s nice that they’re sticking around one place (LA) long enough for their girls to finish a season.

In these photos, you can see Brad and Angelina getting affectionate with Zahara while Shiloh seems to be particularly chatty. I love Shiloh’s haircut these days – it reminds me of the classic “skater boy” haircuts in the 1990s. It’s adorable.

Even though Brad and Angelina are now “soccer parents,” they’re still slightly disorganized. Like, neither of them thought to bring snacks, I guess. Angelina went and bought ice cream from a food vendor at Griffith Park. Judgy soccer moms: do you judge Brad and Angelina for this? For not bringing healthy snacks to their kids’ soccer game? These are the same parents, after all, who don’t believe it’s a big deal to stop by McDonalds occasionally, or pick up donuts or let their kids gorge on pizza. I personally think junk food is part of being a kid and as long as growing kids get their veggies too, why not have some ice cream and pizza?

PS… I think it’s kind of funny that Brad and Angie are still wearing all-black to a soccer game. Jeez, you guys… it’s fine to wear a white t-shirt and some shorts to your kids’ soccer game! Goth Realness!

Far as I can tell, it’s fine parenting; it’s his hipster hat that’s an abomination.

    • doofus says:

I assume you mean his hat?…’cause I actually kinda like her hat!…plus, hers has a practical application of covering her face but his is just fug.

not gonna side-eye the snacks…these kids look healthy, they’re engaging in one of the MOST physically demanding sports around so they’re clearly exercising, etc.

plus, a little ice cream and/or pizza once in a while won’t kill ya…

now, on a more superficial note…I CANNOT imagine going to a soccer game for my kid and seeing those two there. I’d plotz, and I’m not even a brangeloonie.

      • Livealot says:

lol @ doofus. Right?! My kid would no longer be my focus – I’d think they’d appreciate it more if I got close to “The Royal Couple”.

SN: Usually I girl crush hard on Angelina but Brad is looking mighty fine here. Yum.

  2. Vic says:

They look perfectly comfy and reasonably dressed.

    • sally says:

i just hate Angelina’s all black style. She’s so stunning and the clothes never do her justice. Imagine what a jewel toned blouse would do for her eyes and hair and skin color! She looks so sickly in black sacks all the time. Done with my rant.

      • Fa says:

Because she hiding her beauty with black clothes as she doesn’t want people commenting on her beauty, if she wear something other than black will comments how beautiful she is & what clothes she wearing, so she wear something simple & normal

      • HH says:

It could be as simple as Angelina wearing what she likes. And that’s the most important part of style: personal expression.

      • FLORC says:

        HH
Don’t be silly! Don’t you know there’s always a motive?

I think it’s fine and they like what they like too.
And it’s hot! Black hides sweating.

      • Paleokifaru says:

We live in AZ and I would be hard pressed to wear black outside during the day. Grey is my personal friend. 😊 But I have zero shade for what anyone wants to wear since they’re showing up! I’ve heard other parents be snarky about parents outfits but I always figure if you don’t look vulgar then I don’t care. I don’t know where you were before the game or where you need to be after!

    • Shambles says:

@FA that’s what I got from it too. I think she’s just trying to be inconspicuous, not draw any more attention away from the kiddos than necessary

    • Boopybette says:

Her profile is so killer. Wowza.

Also..love this family dynamic…they’re so close.

  3. Katie says:

Oh hipster parents, take a chill pill. Let your kids be kids once in a while!

  4. Imo says:

    Ice cream fo-eva.
Serious question though, if the Pitt-Jolies are home schooled and have homes in different countries how could the girls join a school soccer league? Is it possibly a community league?

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I don’t think you have to be part of a particular school to be on a soccer team. My dad formed a travel soccer team with girls from all over–different towns, different schools. The only thing they have to pay for is a registration fee to be part of the team…..

    • schmoopy says:

Where I live, the homeschooled kids can play in whatever school district they live. They don’t have to actually attend that school, so long as the parents reside and pay taxes there.

      • FLORC says:

Kinda had the same experience. In my town we had a large sports field that every year would have soccer. Seperated by age groups to be fair and then teams. Anyone from the area and the right age could play. Same with basketball at the local Rec center.
Just buy the jerseys and photos 🙂

    • Imo says:

      Thanks, VC

    • GiGi says:

No – their jerseys say AYSO which is community based. You play on teams for the school district where you live, but you don’t have to attend that school to play.

      • GiGi says:

Ugh – not letting me edit – I meant to say Yes – AYSO is community based, lol!

    • Kori says:

This one is a community league but many school districts allow homeschooled children to participate in school sports. This was settled in court, I believe, since parents still pay taxes which go towards school funding. I’ve seen this a lot with military kids–a lot of them are homeschooled for various reasons, including the constant moving and attendant shifts in educational plans and standards. But their kids can still participate in sports, clubs and organizations such as JROTC. One of my son’s friends here at SHAPE is homeschooled but he’s the Commandant of Cadets for AFJROTC as well as the QB of the football team.

  5. Susan says:

Kids need water and healthy snacks at soccer. I had a boy who played for years. They can expend a lot of energy playing a game. At the minimum, water is a MUST. So, slight judginess here.

However, on our team the moms took turns bringing snacks. Water was brought by each kid.

    • lemon says:

I had a track coach in the early 90s who wouldn’t let us drink water to “avoid cramps”. Seriously! And we had to wear our warm up pants if we weren’t competing.

    • Paleokifaru says:

I’m with you Susan. I’ve felt somewhat forced into the healthy mom role because I’m tired of SS ONLY being offered junk at all sporting events and parties. I recently took him to a party from 2-4. I figured given the time he might have a small snack or just cake. Nope she loaded them up with pizza, candy and cake. I didn’t make a fuss but it did put a cramp in the much healthier dinner I had prepared. So definitely a little side eye from me if it’s what they brought a whole team instead of just treated their kids to.

      • KellyBee says:

They just treated their kids. On other sites there are pictures if Angelina buying Fruit bar for Zahara. All the kids on thier team did seem to have a brown paper bag so I guess that was the provided snack.

      • Carmen says:

Pizza, candy and cake won’t hurt any child if consumed in moderation and aren’t diet staples.

This obsession with other children’s diets is beyond ridiculous. A little girl in the Midwest was sent home with a nasty note from her teacher because her mother put Oreos in her lunchbox for dessert. The teacher actually confiscated the Oreos. If that had been my child I would have been down at the school the next day raising hell.

      • Paleokifaru says:

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s bad in moderation. If you look at the comments what people are saying is that given how much other parents are giving our kids junk it makes it difficult to get kids to understand that we’re simply balancing. No there’s nothing wrong with pizza, candy and cake. We do pizza and a movie Fridays. No biggie. But I don’t particularly care for a parent to serve a completely junk food entire meal between two regular mealtimes. That doesn’t make me a health nut or a person who would confiscate junk from other kids.

      • FLORC says:

        Carmen
        I agree.
And you reminded me of a former health teacher I had. If it wasn’t natural we couldn’t eat or drink it in the class rooms. Pretty much left us with water and fruit/veggies. He never took our stuff though. I hope that teacher was spoken to. You advise if you feel you must in that situation. You don’t punish because it’s not what you would do. Ugh.

And i was all about the Capri Sun and popsicles after Soccer. And i have some very healthy eating and excersising habits.

  6. als says:

All that matters is that parents love their children – and they genuinely seem to love and care for them!

  7. V4Real says:

What horrible parents these two are. They let their kids eat McDonalds, they give them ice cream at a soccer game, they probably let them eat candy too. Somebody needs to call CPS on these two. And how dare they wear all black, such a bad example they’re setting for their children.

Yes this is sarcasm in case you didn’t already know.

    • Shambles says:

Just abominable. I’m surprised they have time for soccer games in between naked, pot smoking hot tub parties 😉

    • BNA FN says:

@V4real, Totally agrees with you. Why is it some people get so bent out of shape about the color clothing Brad and Angelina wear. There is always the same gripe/ comments from some: “why they always wear black”, “why is her arms so veiny”, “she is too skinny”, Ect. I have been reading these comments for about 10 years now, time to come up with new materials. Btw, beautiful and caring family from what I have seen. The girls appears happy and loved.

      • Kori says:

I wear black all the time and I’m neither goth nor hipster–I’m just fat. LOL

    • Paleokifaru says:

I don’t think most people believe a little junk food makes you a bad parent. But I do think parents like me are tired of other parents exclusively handing out junk. My kid doesn’t need a dessert and a sugary drink after their 8 am football game you know? And I’ve seen those parents push the treats on parents whose littler kids aren’t playing even after they’ve stated no they’re heading to a meal. So it can be frustrating to try to keep your kid healthy if they’re pretty social. Yes they’re playing sports and exercise is a great habit to support. But it’s not the only part of the equation. We’re teaching them how to balance a healthy diet with a little bit of junk and it’s harder when it’s shoved at your kid by other adults all the time.

    • Mellie says:

HAHA..thank you, this thread reminds me of the Everybody Loves Raymond episode about the healthy snacks at soccer. Debra didn’t bring the approved snacks…it’s a great episode and just reminds me how over the top people can get about snacks. It’s really ok people, these kids just burnt off 1000 calories running around the field, they can have an ice cream bar for God’s sake!

      • paleokifaru says:

I loved that episode and I agree that would be extreme. I think most parents would actually just prefer a no team snacks policy so you can figure out your day and meal/snack stuff yourself. We just say no you can’t eat it right now if we’re heading to a meal right after but honestly I’ve noticed that some parents just can’t seem to say no or save it for later to their kids. As someone lower in the thread also commented it can be really hard to bring the snacks too. There are so many kids who either have or their parents claim they have allergies and intolerances.

  8. vauvert says:

I am no goth hipster anything and I wear black throughout soccer, golf, hockey and whatever season. Honestly…. And yeah, we all buy the kids ice cream from the truck, because summer. And kids. Duh…. That hat could go, but it just makes them seem normal, you know. Like no matter how cool you are, when it comes to your kids…. You are not.
PS I am one of the moms who feeds the kids super healthy at home, but hated the whole “snack rotation” thing at sports activities. What, would the kids pass out without food for 50 minutes?? WTF. I was so thrilled when we stopped doing that! (And btw, bear claws are not a healthy snack, you guys…. Or unwashed fruit, for that matter. There, that was me being judgy!)

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Every mother I know hates or hated that stupid snack rotation thing for the same reasons. Glad to hear people just quit doing it.

      • vauvert says:

GNAT, we only stopped bc the kids are older, and also my hubs is coaching so he put the kibosh on it for our team. I recall at the beginning of the hockey season a couple of parents asked “what about snacks” and the rest of us gave them the evil eye… Seriously, not sure where and how the idea started, but I never understood it. I complied when they were little but always mentally rolled my eyes. They are there to exercise, as long as they stay hydrated, what the heck do they need snacks for? We feed them three squares and snacks at home already! Particularly when some of the snacks brought were stuff I would never buy… I know, people will say “they are kids, it is ok to have a treat even if it bad” but! There is a birthday, practice, game or something every. single. day! And sure, if you stop your kid from having the fructose laden, articial coloured, artificial flavoured “treat” then everyone thinks you are some sort of Goopy mess. You can’t win. So yeah, count me firmly in the no snacks at sports activities camp, OTH for team parties, sure go crazy, order pizza and ice cream and chips, whatever.

      • Lucky Charm says:

I always hated when it was my turn for snacks. It had to be healthy, it had to be easy to eat and not too messy, it had to be simple to transport, and it had to be cheap. We had four kids in activities year round, so lots of opportunity to stress about snacks. I often just wanted to buy a bunch of bananas and call it good, haha!

    • swack says:

Where my grandkiddos play (and kiddos played) sports, you don’t bring snacks as their is a concession stand where you can purchase something, even water and gatorade if they forgot.

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I don’t think I’ve ever been to a soccer game where people were required to bring snacks. The coaches generally bring water/gatorade for everyone, and that’s about it.

    • GiGi says:

YES! I am right there with you. My son plays on a few soccer teams this year & I am OVER IT! I don’t mind an orange slice at halftime or something, but the snacks these days are completely over the top. Because, yes, what would these children do without a constant stream of food!?!? Every game, my son is walking to the car with more than he can hold in his hands – and it’s all crap. My kids eat whatever and I’m not very strict, but I think it’s a weird message to have the kids participate in a sport (healthy) and then go home with HoHo’s & KoolAid. When it’s my turn to bring team snacks I bring bananas and water… and I wear all black everywhere, too 😉

      • vauvert says:

I know right? We have multiple activities each week and thank goodness we are past the snack age. If he ate that amount of junk every day it would be so unhealthy, and like you say, why associate a healthy sport with crummy snacks?

      • GiGi says:

Thank you! We eat pretty well, but my kids also are allowed plenty of junk food. It’s more the context and quantity I have a problem with when it comes to sports, I suppose.

      • paleokifaru says:

Yes, thank you ladies. I don’t see any Mommy Wars/parent shaming from these conversations at all. It’s simply getting tired of the ridiculous quantity being pushed on my kid at all times. I don’t shame the other parents or make a big deal of it but it is frustrating. And for the record I find a lot of the diet/food conversations really difficult because SS is getting a lot of bad information from so many adult sources. I want him to have a balanced idea of activity and food not a hyper awareness of how many calories he’s burned and consumed nor an idea that eating junk all the time is fine because “he’s a kid.”

    • MrsB says:

Meh. I’m a baseball mom and have been doing the snack rotation thing for 4 years now and I don’t mind at all. The kids really look forward to it after their games! I usually do Gatorade and crackers, but I don’t mind when he gets cookies from the other parents. He eats pretty healthy at home, so an occasional treat won’t hurt him.

    • Paleokifaru says:

So with you Vauvert! I also wish the rest of the parents would stop buying the totally unnecessary going into a Goodwill bin participation trophies. Shouldn’t playing be enough? Why do I have to accumulate junk?

  9. lisa2 says:

I’ve seen lots of pics of the soccer game.. the kids get snacks after the game. see the brown bags they are carrying. I don’t think parents have to provide snacks. And there are lots of pictures of the other kids around them eating chips and popsicles. So they are doing what all the parents are doing..

Looking at the pics the other people around them are not acting like this is a new thing seeing them there. Everyone seems pretty chill. They bought ice cream for the girls after the game. There are pictures of them somewhere else.

  10. Chichi says:

I feel very very bad for kids who cant even have a private soccer match.

    • paleokifaru says:

Hi Chichi! Sorry I didn’t get a chance to respond on the thread from Friday but my weekend quickly filled up with the kiddo’s (go figure given this thread) sports and parties. Ha! Yes, my name is paleo rhino. Are you familiar with Swahili?

And on topic, yeah it’s a shame they can’t just play. At least I haven’t seen judgmental articles on the kids’ sports skills!

  11. Sixer says:

Eat healthy at home and don’t stress yourself over the occasional crapola when you’re out. That’s our rule.

    • really says:

Ours, too. Home has healthy food- the outer ring of the grocery store items. Junk is treat when we are out. And even then, I feel quite proud (perhaps SMUG :)) when one of my kids selects a healthy snack over junk when it’s offered. Doesn’t happen all the time, though. Anyhow, love these pics & the others that have been floating around all season- very sweet family!
ps- the same clothes thing is a way to devalue pap pictures- Brad has been doing it even before he got with Angie. I agree & think they also don’t want to draw attention away from the kids by being all fashiony or “hot”.

  12. Brad & Angie got their priorities right!

  13. brianna says:

They, like Kim and Kanye, wear black quite a bit. If this was the West family what would be said about food and snacks?

    • Roxy says:

      Exactly!

    • pk says:

Actually when the West family does any normal family stuff with North, everyone makes a big deal about it. If they put her in soccer, all we would here is how “great” it was of them even though it would be all for publicity and a photo op.

    • ellie says:

On Kim and Kanye people say they need to wear colors. Kim is said to look like Morticia Adams, and Kanye like he’s going to a funeral. If the JP family can, why not the West family (if clothes fit right)?

      • Linn says:

I don’t care about what Kim and Kanye are wearing (unless it’s really inappropriate), it’s the way they dress North that’s the problem.
Lether Leggins, see-through-tops, fur-coats are not clothes for a small child and she often looks really uncomfortable.

      • Paige says:

        @Linn +1
Kim would probably wear sheer leggings and a halter top to her daughter’s soccer game.

    • KellyBee says:

Kim actually wears a lot of color so I’m not getting the comparison. People were only complaing about North wearing black all the time. Kourtney has been seen getting ice cream and pizza with her kids and people don’t complained.

      • lynn says:

Kim wears beige, black, and once in awhile she’ll wear a color. I never see lots of colors. Her, Kanye, and North don’t wear colorful clothes. Kourtney has always seemed to be a good mom, that might be why nobody complained.

  14. Jess says:

It must be so strange seeing this family at a soccer game, I don’t know how I would react, probably try to play it cool, lol. Most people look relaxed and like it’s not a big deal, which is great, the kids can be normal!

  15. Louise177 says:

The “Brad and Angelina are horrible parents” comments are so ridiculous. Especially considering they bad for giving the kids icecream but it’s perfectly fine for the other kids to do so. The photos clearly show this. This always happens. It’s fine for everyone else but Brad and Angelina should arrested. I also don’t know why people are assuming the kids had nothing to eat or drink during the game. There’s only a few photos and most are after the game or of just Brad and Angelina.

  16. Izzy says:

I’m a soccer aunt, and my nephew has had both kinds of snacks over the years. As he got more serious about his soccer he insisted on healthier snacks, but it’s not like the kids don’t burn up every last bit of energy from those snacks when they play. It’s ice cream. Everybody chill. Here, have an ice cream cone if it’ll help.

  17. Claudia says:

I like to wear black as well and I”m no goth. They dress and behave perfectly normal. Love them as a family!

  18. A. Key says:

I can’t believe we live in a world where parents are judged for giving ice cream and pizza to their kids!!! WTF happened world.

And I wear black everywhere to everything, what’s wrong with that? Doesn’t make me a goth or a weirdo for crying out loud, but it does improve my overall appearance.

    • Fa says:

People always want brad & Angie to dress up with different outfits every time they go out, they fellow Hollywood standard

      • maggie says:

I wonder if she got that hat while making The Changeling. Looks ridiculous! Actually they both look like they could use a bath! Seems like they are great parents though.

    • lisa2 says:

They are not judged.. go to any pizza joint or ice cream store and kids are eating them. They Mommy Police and Perfect Parents only have a problem with Brad and Angie. There were pics of Brad with the kids at a Korean restaurant. Some of the people that love to point the finger at this couple need to get over it. They are married and together raising their family. The fact that they don’t like her or him.. means squat. Their kids look very healthy and fit. Not fat.. I see many kids that are neither. So maybe they know how to do what some parents can’t. Treats in moderation.

      • Paleokifaru says:

I don’t see any parents on here saying they’re awful. I just see those of us who have kids in sports and are concerned about diet saying junk is fine sometimes and not knowing everything in this situation it’s probably okay. But that overall in our experiences it can be really difficult to have other parents push junk 24/7. No one is saying this is what the Jolie Pitts are doing. Just commenting personally on parenting struggles.

      • Carmen says:

What’s wrong with Korean food? It’s actually very healthy.

      • lisa2 says:

We are seeing pics of their kids at an event. If we saw pics of them daily and had a print out of their diet Daily then people can talk.. but we are seeing a picture of them eating what every other kid at the event was doing..and goodness why do people pretend to be so overly concerned by what these children eat. I mean we don’t see them eating at their home. It has been what over a week. Do you think this is the only meal they had during that time..

and this is not just about parents talking about eating habits.. just like the part about the kids staying put long enough to play sports.. really. We have no idea what these children do on a daily basis.. Angie/Brad have said the kids go to Art classes, Swimming, Angie said Zahara rides horses.. They do Karate. Just because we don’t get pics doesn’t mean a thing. In fact it shows how their children are able to have activities and privacy.

@carmen..(if this was directed to my comment) about the Korean restaurant was just that the children eat at many different places.

      • Paleokifaru says:

Lisa2 I guess we’re reading the comments differently because I don’t really see direct judgment of them here! Just seems like some general parenting convos about personal experiences. Everyone has different takes.

      • That Dee Chick says:

I’m confused because I don’t see any negative comments HERE on Celebitchy. I see people saying it’s ridiculous to judge them for giving their kids ice cream and talking in general about kids and snacks. I’m sure other sites have negative comments, but why is that being discussed here?

      • paleokifaru says:

That Dee Chick – agreed. I’m seeing a lot of kind of nasty comments claiming people on here are slamming snacks, junk and the Jolie Pitts. And I’m just not seeing that so I don’t really get the criticism acting like people are creating drama. It all seems pretty low key to me. I kind of thought the way the article was written most posters were defending the clothing and personal snack choices and then just generally talking about what we see at these events and with our own families. Shrug.

  19. Dolce crema says:

Unless you’re obese, yes eat that shit when you’re a kid! And definitely eat your veggies. But eat some junk food because when you’re an adult you’re more likely to have your metabolism go down (whether around 20 or 30) and also you may suffer from more digestive or other problems. I can’t eat much chips, candy or icecream with out pain here or there, sugar low, etc

  20. trisha says:

We didn’t want to eat healthy foods as kids playing soccer or baseball either. No big deal. Doesn’t mean this is what they eat all day every day.

These pictures are better than the ones on DM of Angie at the same soccer game

    • Fa says:

DM is in a mission these days to post negative articles of Angie

      • brianna says:

Not just DM shows pictures of Angie that lots of people comment on her veins in her arms. I don’t know what causes them, but she’s a pretty lady

  21. serena says:

I love Angie’s style and it cracks me up the ‘goth soccer mome’ title, lol.

  22. Amanda says:

Maybe she doesn’t like to wear white around kids covered in dirt. I’ve learned over the years that if I buy clothing that isn’t black, grey, navy blue, beige, brown, etc that I’ll never wear it. Some people don’t like wearing a rainbow of colors. It’s not goth. It’s being practical and comfortable.

  23. kri says:

I love seeing them with the kids. They are so engaged and happy. I don’t care what they wear either, although yes, I hate Brad’s hat. But I’d take a bad hat on a good father over the reverse. And hell yeah, kids should enjoy treats!! (So should adults)

  24. B says:

Those look like fruit popsicles, not ice cream…

  25. Tracy says:

Oh, for God’s sake, can we just leave these two alone? They showed up, which can’t be all that fun for them knowing every person there…and apparently those who read blogs…is judging their every move. They can’t scratch without it being a headline. They seem to be committed to their kids and to each other. Pass me an ice cream cone…

    • dottie says:

They know wherever they go, they might not be left alone. Part of the famous life they chose. It’s their daughters game, so too bad. Parents go whenever they can.

  26. Paloma says:

What surprises me is they’ve parked themselves in one spot for the moment. The girls look happy and healthy. I’m projecting, but I would burn up in all black. I get the trying to not draw attention; however, I’d try another ensemble.

    • BNA FN says:

I’m sure if Angelina wanted to wear a different color dress every day she could. Angelina in is not a AC who puts on a fashion show every time she is seeing out and about, especially in NYC. Angelina and Brad are richer than GC and AC so money is not the reason they wear black most of the time. I’m thinking with six children they prefer black because it’s more practical for them. Also,I don’t belive Angelina is all that into fashion unless she is attending a formal affair.

I’m ghost pale like Angelina, and my dermatologist and all my other doctors tell me not to wear black in the sun no matter how much sunscreen I have on.

  27. ToodySezHey says:

I don’t think it’d even ice cream. It looks like frozen fruit pops.

Hell, when I was in my 20s and jogging 25 miles a week I used to eat the hell out of those.

  28. Catelina says:

The kids look so cute, I think it’s awesome that they do this. I love Angie’s hat. Brad’s on the other hand…less so. that’s a cute picture of him with him arm around Zahara. Reminds me though, last time there were pics of them at a game, there were pictures of Brad hugging Shiloh and someone (not here) claimed that they think Shiloh is his ‘favorite child’. I wonder if we’ll get claims of Zahara being his favorite this week.

    • Paleokifaru says:

Oh man do people really talk about favorites? That’s not okay. It never ceases to amaze me how many extreme supporters and detractors celebrities get. Affection for your children is great period. People really shouldn’t be turning it into a competition based on a photo. Happily it seems this family ignores the noise instead of engaging and waging a PR campaign around it.

  29. Tarsha says:

Oh come on! Who on earth takes healthy food to any sports game, especially a kids one? Probably only people who would take salads and water to a children’s birthday party. Kids don’t like to eat healthy food at the best of times, and especially not out when there is a canteen and vendors! Part of the fun of going somewhere is eating yummy stuff. I cannot imagine any kid wanting to eat fruit or crackers at a kids outing.

    • Paleokifaru says:

Actually my SS and all my nephews choose the healthy option if it’s offered. Again, I don’t see a lot of shade being thrown at the Jolie Pitts here just a general discussion of sports snacks rotation and parties. There are so many of them that it does actually become difficult to make the junk an occasional. And we’re teaching our kids life long eating habits, not just childhood eating habits.

  30. Liz says:

The kids def look like they are eating those Edy’s strawberry fruit bars. More like a Popsicle than ice cream, perfect for a post soccer snack.

  31. The Original G says:

What I love about these photos is how unaffected everyone seems by their presence.

  32. really says:

I’m not sure where to put my snacks comment, but I think they are ridiculous & burdensome, too. And, yes, kids can go an hour or two without food. Healthy or not- not every kid can have every snack and it’s too complicated for every parent to try (most will prob get it wrong). I’m allergic to oranges, but I knew enough to avoid them- not all kids are cognizant enough or have enough self-discipline to curate snacks brought by other parents. The Kim & Kanye crying is funny- why set them against Brad & Angie- it just makes them look worse. SInce Brad & Angie have managed to get SIX kids past age 2 without plopping them front & center at fashion show, they are winning by MILES. Pick some other people to compare Kim & K to- people in their world- the selfie-obsessed, pap parading, PR addict world. I don’t care about the Ks, but i LOVE how they make other PR addicts so desperate and how they are so thirsty to try & compete…they have exposed a lot of VERY needy, insecure “stars” and increased PR spending by so many fame-hos. Another reason to admire the Jolie-Pitts- NO PR- they have better things to do with their cash then than give it liars & spin doctors.

How’d you do that font switch? And oh, the topic..I’m so glad I’m not a kid today..everything so organized, so controlled, so judged, so kale and bottled water.

      • Paleokifaru says:

I don’t know many parents who are that controlling. But I do know and also knew as a kid parents who don’t watch their kids diets at all. And those kids ended up with serious weight and health struggles. Again, I really don’t see any commenters here throwing shade. Just commenting about how much we see junk in excess.

      • really says:

that’s just bolding- good old html code…you put (less periods) at start of blurb and at end.hmmm- not letting me type codes- just google html code for bold here is one link: http://www.tizag.com/htmlT/htmlbold.php

      • paleokifaru says:

I should also add that the few parents I do know who are super controlling healthy with their kids I feel are just as dangerous as the junk all the time parents. Neither way is promoting life long healthy eating without shame, health or food issues. Occasional junk is completely fine. I just wish, given how often we’re at sporting events and parties, the junk would be more occasional and there would be more good non or less junky food options for snacks, appetizers, desserts, etc.

Look at the people in the background they’re so chill, no stareing , pointing Nothing. Man I don’t think I would be that calm I’ll probably slide over all casually and just be like Yow brad do you need a new nanny, Gardner I can do hair realll good. No?? OK how bout a pic..

  34. JenB says:

I love that the girls are having ice cream. Refreshingly normal. ( You know Goop would never!)

  35. Pumpkin Pie says:

Wage no war on pizza, please!!!! Pizza is a great dish. IMO it is a perfect combo of energy, nutrients, and taste. Pizza ingredients and how much people eat in one sitting is another story. And who eats salad or fruit after running around playing football?
To add, I don’t see any difference between a pizza, a sandwich or pasta, there’s dough, veg, meat, whatever.

    • paleokifaru says:

We’re big pizza fans too. It’s just in terms of context with when it’s being served, quantity and how greasy/junky it is. Kids don’t need Peter Piper Pizza pepperoni slices four meals out of their weekend or as a snack and without a veggie in sight, you know? That’s my only beef – the lack of actual moderation I see. I think a lot of folks try to turn everything into an extreme viewpoint or war when *most* people probably just want a little less pushing on them and their kids in any direction.

Black does not equal Goth or Emo. Her casual clothes have always been black. I figure it’s easy to mix and match. I agree, too, that her end goal is to not draw attention to herself. As for healthy v. junk snacks – the snacks are “treats” after games. My son was in AYSO for years. They bring their own water for practice and during the game. Afterward they get a treat and juice pouch. They have one game every weekend unless they’re making up for a cancelled game. Most parents provide a fun treat rather than a healthy treat. It’s once a week on the weekend, and the kids look forward to that silly treat at the end. They much more enjoy ice cream than a banana. I don’t see how that’s any big deal.

  37. Regina Phelange says:

Omg the drama on this thread over snacks. Snacks. SNACKS.

  38. naturegirl says:

My Lady & My Movie star boyfriend. They are dress appropriately for down time at their kids soccer game

  39. hopeso says:

That’s because Angie is the only parent buying snack for her children……NOT ……
Get over yourselves people a child can enjoy an ice cream RIGHT?????

  40. LAK says:

    Those kids are adorable

  41. Abby says:

Confession: I always wear black to outdoor events. Because I sweat and I don’t want the whole world to see my sweaty pits/bra area.

I love that they both went to the kids’ soccer games. My kid is 17 months old and just started walking two weeks ago, so soccer isn’t on the radar yet, but my husband was good enough to play his whole life and semi-pro… so I guess I’ll be a soccer mom soon enough. Snacks? People bring snacks for all the kids? What about allergies? That sounds so complicated. :-/

    • paleokifaru says:

I’m always happy to see parents and other family members out at the sporting events. It can eat up a lot of your day if you’ve got multiple kids or teams but I find it fun.

Yes, I think the issue of bringing snacks for all the kids is what commenters are discussing, NOT that the Jolie PItt kids are eating a snack. That’s not a big deal and every family makes choices in those areas. But the team snack stuff can get tricky fast. My brother is violently and potentially fatally allergic to rice, soy, cow dairy, red dye and berries. That limited snacks fast. My mom would just tell him no and have a healthier snack or we would have a meal after, depending on the time. As he got older teams tended to stop the snack thing. These days people expect you to cater to their kids. We’ve been on teams that have long lists of don’ts which is annoying and we’ve also been on teams that hand the kids giant handfuls of junk. I’m not a fan of either but I don’t make a fuss to the other parents. Unfortunately that’s not true of every parent and I’ve seen some really bad behavior. I think that’s why so many here have said they like doing away with the team snack.

  42. Iheartgossip says:

The kids always look so happy and carefree. I like that about the family. And, if the ice cream snacks are frozen fruit, which in L.A.??? Probably organic fruit made with no sugar added organic fruit juice. Ha

  43. norah says:

what i think is terrific is thatthey are spending time with their kids so many celeb parents wd send their nannies instead so its just sad when they keep focusing on other irrelevant things – she just had another medical procedure a few months ago and pple are so bothered abt what she is wearing or what she did or didnt bring – they look happy
