Adam Harris schools ‘meninists’ after his teary wedding photos go viral

Adam Harris

You may not know 23-year-old Adam Harris by name, but you’ll remember this story. Adam isn’t famous, but he’s very handsome, so he attracted a lot of attention for his wedding photos. In these beautiful pictures, Adam stood with tears rolling down his cheeks as he watched his bride, Tisa, walk towards him. He’s clearly overcome with emotion. Just looking at these photos makes tears come to my eyes.

Some people didn’t feel so sentimental about Adam’s special day. The wedding took place 10 months ago. These photos have now gone viral, thanks to trolls at the (unfortunately well-read) “meninist” Twitter account, which added a lame caption.

Adam completely owned these trolls with a swift reply.

In the aftermath, Adam kept a level head. He hasn’t asked for attention, nor has he hidden my setting his Twitter account to “private.” When contacted by Buzzfeed, Adam gave this statement about his wedding day:

“It was raining all day and windy. We were a bit afraid the ceremony wouldn’t happen outdoors like we wanted it to but around noon the rain let up until the end of the ceremony. We agreed not to do the first look because we thought it would be more exciting to see each other for the first time during the ceremony. When it came time in the ceremony for her to walk down the aisle our DJ played ‘Beautiful’ by Meshell Ndegeocello and the doors above the stairs opened. When I saw her, I couldn’t hold back feelings of excitement and love, she looked gorgeous. Our photographer, Dustin Finklestein, captured the moment perfectly.”

Something tells me that Adam and Tisa will enjoy a long and happy marriage. The Mail dug up their best man’s speech, which is pretty awesome too. Here are a few reply tweets to Adam’s excellent attitude.

Here’s Adam’s best man’s speech at his wedding. Both Adam and his videographer retweeted this, so they seem ok with it going public.

what is this trend of making people famous for merely exisiting?

    • MelissaManifesto says:

I think it’s because we are very much into Social Media now and it’s easy for even the most mundane event to go viral because people consume information much quicker than before as a result of that information being more accessible now. I’m sure men have cried many times at their wedding, but someone decided to make fun of the love a man felt for his wife on their wedding day…

    • GiGi says:

What? His pictures gained attention because they were touching… no one is trying to make this guy famous.

    • V4Real says:

Have the twitter trolls found their way over to C/B

It’s not about making him famous; it’s about highlighting how mean human beings can be. Twitter has been getting a lot of well deserve crap for letting trolls tweet mean things. I think it’s great that people are beginning to fight back and news outlets as well as sites like this are shedding light on it. Though this is a gossip site, not every post have to be about famous people.

That is the most sweetest weeding I have ever seen thus far. I really love that. Thanks @bedhead, this made my morning.

    • SnarkySnarkers says:

It is! Of all the things to trash?! We need to be celebrating people actually committing to each other not tearing them down. What a sweet looking couple. I wish them all the happiness in the world. That is what a good man/husband looks like.

  3. INeedANap says:

I’ve heard folks say that account is satirical, but if it started that way, it isn’t now (also read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe's_law). They’re a frothing pack of angry, whiny babies with nothing of value to say.

To Mr. and Mrs. Harris — congratulations on your new marriage! You both looked beautiful and joyful on your special day. All the best to you both. 🙂

  4. MelissaManifesto says:

Awww. Congrats to Adam and his beautiful wife Tisa. I wish him a blessed, long, and happy marriage.

We (as in the world) haven’t figured out the ins and outs of love yet, tragedy strikes when we least expect it, we can’t control life changes, however it is very much possible to be completely happy even when life throws rock at us. I really hate it when cynics and bullies alike try to minimize and belittle a couple who is in love and emotional about such love. It really does piss me off when some find it so difficult to be happy for others even for just a second.

    • Kiki says:

That was well said. He should ignore these scums of the earth and live a very long and happy married life. Life is short you can might as well make it sweet.

    • Lucy2 says:

Well said- and important to remember that cynics and bullies like that are that way because they are so unhappy themselves. They are angry, afraid, or jealous because of something lacking in their own life, and rather admit that to themselves, they attack someone else who isn’t.
This guy handled it well, and hopefully goes on to have a long happy life and marriage. He is the winner here, and those mocking him just look sad.

    • Hawkeye says:

Agree 100%! It speaks volumes when a person is mocked for showing human emotion. Adam was marrying the woman he loves, why wouldn’t he cry? (I’m tearing up looking at his wedding photos, and I don’t even know the couple!)

  5. Thora says:

They’re both beautiful and I love the pictures of him getting all teary, so sweet!!!! Lucky woman 🙂

  6. Beth says:

    Handsome, indeed.

  7. snowflake says:

She’s a lucky woman to have a man like that. Obviously deeply in love with her. Good for him for not being afraid to show his emotion.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, I thought it spoke volumes about the kind of man he is – all good. I wish them every happiness.

  8. jenniferjustice says:

There is nothing more masculine than a man who is so good with himself he has the confidence to express love and tenderness. Only idiotic little boys see that as weakness. If they only knew what they were missing in both giving and receiving they would take a lesson. It is what most women look for in a mate so I do appreciate the irony in that the scared immature boys will never get the woman, the love, or the life they are envious of but so goes the path of people who feel resentment toward others’ happiness rather than inspiration.

  9. mememe says:

The tweet that mocked him smacked of racism more than anything.

The pics and his statement are beautiful. Reminds me of my brother, who fainted TWICE during his wedding ceremony because he was so overcome by emotions!

  10. M.A.F. says:

Good for him for speaking out. I swear we as a society have gone backwards the last 5+ years and morons like those who run that “meninists” are part of the reason.

  11. kri says:

I kept thinking “He’s gorgeous, what have I seen in him”? Turns out he is not in the biz, but wow, he could be. Gorgeous, sensitive and man enough to show his emotions on his wedding day. Hell YES. Tisa is a lucky lady.

  12. Amy says:

Congratulations to them both. There’s a lot of ignorant people making a lot of unnecessary noise in this world today.

  13. Cleo says:

This Twitter account is part of the whole “Men’s Rights” movement. It’s very much about attacking this man for being what they refer to as a “beta”. And there’s a good chance it’s racist too considering how many of the men involved in these groups are also incredibly racist. If you’ve never heard of this movement, check out the blog WeHuntedTheMammoth.com. That site has made me be a lot for outspoken as a feminist. These MRA groups are really scary.

    • Ange says:

Nothing they say ever has anything to do with any sort of real activism, they are a hate group pure and simple. They too would cry if they saw a beautiful and strong woman coming towards them purely because they’d be too afraid to know what to do with her.

  14. Jocelina says:

As mememe said, this is also hella racist. What a sad reflection on the people behind that tweet — you have to be pretty messed up to look at that photo and see anything but love and joy.

  15. Tiffany :) says:

Those photos are so powerful, I feel the love! It is so absurd how threatened these idiots are by this!

  16. Original T.C. says:

Tearing up too as I look at Adam’s raw expression of love. Classy response to that mean tweet. Lovely couple.

  17. Danskins says:

What a beautiful couple! Adam had the perfect response – good for him!

  18. Angel says:

My husband and I ugly-cried through our ceremony, we got slagged for it. people suck.
