This is an Instagram ^^ Mariah Carey posted of her new boyfriend, billionaire James Packer. We discussed their new-found love over the weekend. Packer’s name was floating around pretty consistently when Miranda Kerr found herself newly single (and Packer might have been Kerr’s jumpoff). Apparently, Packer is a BIG fan of Mariah and he’s set out to woo her, sending her gifts and pursuing her steadily for more than a month. Now they’re vacationing together – with her kids! – on his yacht, off the coast of Italy. Packer apparently brought along his three kids with ex Erica Baxter too.
Hilariously, I did not remember/know that Mariah is something of an old-fashioned “Rules Girl.” She didn’t have sex with Nick Cannon until the ring was on her finger. And now I’m kind of wondering if she’s pulling the same thing with Packer, because TMZ reports that Mariah and Packer are ALREADY talking about marriage. Oh, Mariah.
Mariah Carey doesn’t waste time … just days after she hopped on a yacht with new billionaire BF James Packer, they’re already talking marriage. Our Mariah sources say it’s insane … they’ve been “dating” for just a matter of days, but he’s already told her he wants to marry her, sooner rather than later. The soonest can be when she’s officially divorced from Nick Cannon. But we’re told Mariah is open to tying the knot with James.
They’ve been cruising from country to country since late last week, and James blared Mariah’s music for everyone to hear, including all the people on vastly smaller boats.
We broke the story … James is obsessed with Mariah and her music. He went to her concert in Vegas a month-and-a-half ago and has been pursuing her ever since.
He already wants to marry her? Yeah, she’s not putting out. And can I just say? I understand pulling that move when you’re young and don’t know any better. But Mariah is in her 40s. She’s been married twice before. She has two children. The jig is up. No one is going to think she’s a bad person if she sleeps with a billionaire before she gets a ring. In fact, I think less of her because she’s playing that game. And it’s a recipe for disaster too – engagements can be broken and if Packer’s endgame is simply getting a Mariah-sized notch on his bed post, well, he can give her a ring and then break up with her in the morning.

Well if she wants real commitment and not to be used just for sex then why not? Maybe she had been lied to and used before? As long as she made it clear to him what’s the problem? If he is not up for that he’s free to move else where. But no, getting married after a few weeks is not a good idea.

Seeing how that worked out for her with Nick Cannon, she might want to re-think that strategy. You forgot that marriage doesn’t mean a lifetime commitment in Hollywood.
Also, there’s something to be said for taking a car for a test-drive before you buy it.
Everything with Mariah is extra. I can’t imagine her dating someone within any parameters of what is typical or rationally decided.

I assume sex isn’t really that important to her, she wants a partner and again as long as she is clear about that and doesn’t pretend to be something she is not to catch him I don’t see a problem.

@MP-I have no idea why her marriage to Cannon failed, I was simply making the point that waiting till marriage to have sex does NOT ensure a lifetime commitment.
It’s her business when she decides to have sex, but I’ve always side-eyed the waiting thing. In no way does it ensure anything, except that you waited to have sex. That’s pretty much it. In many cases it causes people to rush into marriage when it’s not the right thing, and lo and behold, they have problems. But whatever. Mariah isn’t exactly known for logic and good decision making.
I’ve always had the feeling that even though she has no problem flaunting her sexuality, Mariah isn’t much into sex. The ill-fitting revealing clothes net her attention and attention is what Mimi really gets off on.
MP, I agree. This is such a personal decision, I’m surprised it’s even up for critique on this website, which is usually pretty supportive of the notion that the who, what and when of people’s individual sexual preferences is nothing but their own business. In addition, the fact that she is “holding out” with Packer is pure speculation.
Date him; sleep with him and enjoy all the fun and goodies of an enamored boyfriend. Marriage would be a disaster. “Familiarity breeds contempt” is an old saying that is oh, so true.
I don’t think a wetsuit exists that would actually fit her. And the pink stripes only highlight how it’s being stretched to oblivion over her considerable assets.

The body-shaming against Mariah (and Kim Kardashian too for that matter) on this site is insane. I’m no fan of hers but her body is completely fine, even nice in the grey and definitely not too squeezed into the wetsuit (wetsuits are always tight, otherwise they don’t work!) She’s just curvy, not fat, and I think her body is pretty damn good for her age.
I didn’t read that comment as shaming her body, just pointing out that the wet suit is ill-fitting, which it is. The zipper looks like it’s going to break, if it’s not already broken.
Aside from that, I agree that she has a nice, curvy bod.
I think it’s more about the outfits than the bodies, at least from my perspective. Kardashian is incredibly wealthy and could afford clothing that is properly tailored and flattering, but she purposefully wears clothing at least 3 sizes too small. Mariah’s wet suit doesn’t look like it could be zipped up past the point where it is now. Plenty of people make comments about attire that is awful on women who are considered traditionally Hollywood beauties. The grey-silver thingie looks nice on Mariah. Her boyfriend’s outfit in that photo is atrocious.
I don’t click on and read every Mariah story….but no one here (today) called her fat. I would go as far to say that no one is body-shaming either. That wetsuit is too tight…and probably on purpose. There’s no way she could zip that up. She wants attention, she’s vain…this is Celebitchy. And yes, after a couple babies I’d be fine if I had her body too, but I’d also wear and buy clothes that fit. Her dress looks nice.
As far as KimK goes….that woman has effectively assaulted her body (and everyone’s eyes) with unrealistic implants, fat injections, and oodles of surgery that has morphed her into someone that we wouldn’t have even recognized a few years ago. For the record, she also does not dress appropriately for her body/weight. She’s made a career out of garnering attention – good or bad.
It’s the clothes. The awful ill fitting unflattering clothes these women insist on stuffing themselves into on a daily basis. They look uncomfortable and un-chic. All the time. Every time. I have no problem with either of their figures, they are both well within healthy weight parameters (whether they are healthy or not is a whole other debate). It’s just that they can’t seem to grasp the concept that clothes don’t need to be in the absolute smallest size you can wriggle into. I’m always thinking, “oh, if only that were a size or two bigger, she’d look great!”

Not having sex until you get a ring has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Yes, let’s make a lifetime commitment to one another just so we can have sex. Such an odd couple, it makes me wonder. If James has had a crush on her for years and he does those Scientology audits and they found out about it, perhaps they are encouraging this and he is being used to recruit her (unbeknown to him) into Scientology she has a very big piggy bank and I wouldn’t put it past them to set something like this up in order to inveigle another star cash cow into their clutches.
If true, this seems to be her thing. She & Nick were married only a couple of months after they began dating. This fan obsession thing reminds me of Ashton & Demi, it would turn me off.
